Falling in love on Valentine's Day is the happiest of accidents.

Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian
Description: Is a lonely woman's GPS sentient or is her subconscious taking her by the hand to help heal a scarred heart?

When Jemma Ernst's GPS malfunctions and sends her to the home of handsome and engaging Gabriel Nash, she writes it off as a fluke. But she can't seem to reprogram him out of her thoughts nor her GPS.

Better Latte Than Never by Katrina Sizemore
Description: Single and cold on Valentine’s Day, Hailey Merritt is not looking forward to working all day at the coffee shop while everyone around her is cheery with romance and she’s stuck trying to figure out her next step in life.

But, when a special bouquet arrives for her from a secret admirer, she decides to reserve judgment on this holiday and find whomever sent the flowers.

Maybe Cupid has a plan to make this her favorite Valentine’s Day ever.

Dream Architect by S.L. Hughson
Description: Taylor and Sons Custom Design keeps ASHLIN TAYLOR at arm’s length from her dream job. If only she were a son, she could follow her architectural dream. In the Taylor creed, girls get married and boys have careers. DYLAN CUTRIGHT focuses on finishing college and landing an architectural engineering job in a large firm. Minus emotional ties.

After their accidental encounter, their attraction is amplified during their work interaction. Unlike her family, Dylan encourages Ashlin to pursue her dream by enrolling in college. He even argues her case with Uncle Mike. All of this support confuses Ashlin because when she moves closer to him, he rebuffs her for reasons she can only speculate about.

Valentine’s Day might be the perfect opportunity for Ashlin to make him notice her. They are working together - alone - on the most romantic day of the year. Dylan builds her dream of career, but will he ever lower his walls and become more than just the man IN her dreams?

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin
Description: Oblivious to Tiffany Jenkins in three short weeks her life will end—unless she makes the perfect choice. Will she chose revenge and expose her ex-husband? Or chose love and surrender her heart to the only man who can save her?

Rock My Bones by Wendy Sparrow
Description: Jared has been eyeing the sexy mural painter from inside the museum’s paleontology lab, but she’s way out of his league. He can’t let her paint that obviously misplaced fern, though…even if it means initiating contact.

You could call her a paleontology groupie, but Shay Meyers is interested in a more modern specimen. An adult male Homo Sapien to be exact—one who needs to be dragged out of his lab for a practical course in mating rituals. If she’s lucky, this will be the Valentine’s Day she rocks his bones.

I write smart, witty stories for smart, witty readers.

An Air Force Brat born to southern parents, I've lived all over the place but seem to have settled in the Pacific NW in the Portland OR area. I've been married to the same man for over 20 years and we have 2 teenaged sons.

Reading-wise, I love romance (all genres and heat levels), chick lit, mysteries, and YA (dystopian and contemporary mostly).

In general, I write and read but do NOT review. My top ten favorite books read each year I give 5 stars. If you're an author and I've read your book and you want my opinion, I'll give it to you privately upon request. I support writers in other ways as best I can however, and can be a pretty enthusiastic cheerleader.

Lila Shaw is the pen name I use for works of erotic romance, erotic horror and erotica. I write YA as Iris St. Clair. My first YA novel, LOUDER THAN WORDS, will be published by Swoon Romance in late 2014.

Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian
Jemma’s last romance had left her heart in tatters and she was determined not to truly trust a man again. Gabriel spent his time alone in his apartment cooking scrumptious meals but had no one to share them with.
A seemingly possessed GPS system would bring these two together. One with a broken heart the other simply broken.
This was a nice romance that developed over time. I liked the notion of the GPS with a mind of its own.

Better Latte than Never by Katrina Sizemore
Andrew and Hailey had been best friends since they were 13. Andrew had since moved away from their small country town but he was back for Valentines Day to support Hailey and make her happy just as he had promised her father before he died. But would Hailey realise that Andrew had been in love with her all this time or would he leave Milltown and go back to the city without telling her his feelings?

Dream Architect by S L Hughson
Ashlin first meets Dylan when she almost backs over him with her car. She then finds out that he will be working at her Uncles company with her.
The story gives the reader both Ashlin’s and Dylan’s POV which I really liked. There was so much sexual tension between them and Dylan was so sweet to encourage Ashlin to follow her dreams.

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin
Tiffany needed a date for the Valentines Day High School Reunion. She advertises online for a date and is answered by Michael. Only Michael is an angel and he was already in love with Tiffany. Could he make her fall in love with him? There was more than a good show at the school reunion at stake here.
I loved this story! Michael was one hot angel and he was so cheeky and confident.

Rock My Bones by Wendy Sparrow
Jared, a palaeontologist at the museum, was working Valentines Day which was pretty normal for him. But he couldn’t understand why the beautiful woman painting the mural outside his lab would be working. Shouldn’t she be on a date?
This was a bit like a palaeontologist’s wet dream. Hot beautiful girl falls for geeky guy and can’t wait to jump into bed with him because she likes her men nerdy.

Whether you’re home alone nursing a broken heart or snuggled next to your soul mate this anthology of romance is the perfect read this Valentines Day. And for all those singles, get out there, you never know when you might bump into your Accidental Valentine.

I'm biased, first of all, because I have a story in this one, so no rating or review. I don't do those and especially not for my own books or anthos. But... my hat's off to my fellow authors Wendy, Katrina, Jaylee and S.L. I thought it coincidentally cool that most of us were West Coast based. Katrina is our lone East Coaster to keep it spicy and interesting.

So anyway...even though this one has a Valentine's Day theme, I'm pretty sure Cupid is busy 365 days of year, and 366 every fourth year, and the stories will appeal year round.

Thank you!

Valentine, My Valentine
Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian
I enjoyed this story--it had a dash of mysticism and it actually dealt with a serious issue. It took some time for the characters to get to know each other, rather than the whirlwind romances I'm used too. The one problem I had is that I figured out the plot halfway through and got irritated that the heroine didn't do the same. Also, the mysticism had me questioning once or twice whether there was something missing or not. This did not stop it from being a favorite of my friend's, so the rating is purely my taste.
Better Latte Than Never by Katrina Sizemore
I always like a romance that builds off of something more, and the foundation of friendship is always best. It was sweet, touching, and sexy in parts. The touching storyline really got me. Mostly, because it was a secondary relationship between the heroine and her father. I loved this one and will have to look out for more by this author.
Dream Architect by S.L. Hughson
I enjoyed the tension in this story. It had the grounds of a solid friendship, but the romance...I feel if it had had more space, it could've been deeper. A really hot and spicy novella, maybe. That being said, it was definitely one of the sexier stories in the book and I really, really enjoyed it. One of my favorites.
One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin
This story definitely crossed the "sweet" line we were toeing. It had everything a romance story demands--a beautiful model and a god come down to marry her. That being said, it wasn't fleshed out enough for me to be really invested. It had what I was looking for in most romance anthologies--a bedroom scene--and yet once I got there, I found the stories before it had more tension, chemistry, and were a bit more sexy. I think this author has a promising future, but with longer books where she can help her readers get a better feel for her characters.
Rock My Bones by Wendy Sparrow
I enjoyed this story. I like the somewhat intellectual hero and heroine, the little bit of backstory, and the tension. The writing was good, the story was good. It was fun. It was the perfect way to end the book.
Overall, I'm going to give it five stars. What stories I didn't fully appreciate, I still felt were very good, and the others were outstanding. Reading this book, I realized I will be on the lookout for any of these names later on, when I'm browsing the shelves. This is a great read and a wonderful collection of romances. I recommend it.

A little sweet and defiantly spicy, this anthology has a lot to offer. Although I enjoyed the first couple of stories the second half of the book is what made the anthology for me. Each story is well written and has engaging characters with budding romances.

The first two have a warm heat level, where as the last three get hotter. The plots, although all around Valentine's day are all original and fun. An odd little GPS, Coffee shops, architecture businesses, hot angels, museums - seriously all are super original. I honestly can't say I had a favorite.

Guiding Hearts- the first story touches on a bit a serious subject, but in true romantic fashion ends happy. Who isn't a sucker for a man that bakes!

Better Latte Than Never - two friends finally figure out how to communicate, also has a more serious secondary plot. A man with a sweet side always melts hearts.

Dream Architect - college ambition and breaking past judgmental families. One steamy bathroom scene later...

One Hot Angel - a woman gets one heck of a guardian angel. Sign me up! No really - where can i get one?

Rock My Bones - who knew a leaf could bring out the geeky man. Some geeks are just HOT. It's true especially in this story. I think this was the most humorous of the collection. And a great way to wrap it all up.

There are a few stories I will be rereading. I hope these authors keep the stories coming!

So I decided to read each story and jot down my thoughts immediately after. Here goes…

Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian 5*

Ms. Gillian has a great way with words. Eloquent, yet simple, her writing drew me into this story as though I was there beside Jemma seeing, smelling, and tasting everything she did. LOVED Gabriel’s back story, and how we’re given hints rather than an info dump of his issues.

A perfect blend of sweet romance and a hint of magic left me feeling satisfied. For the most part. My gripe with this story? I wanted MORE. While I get shorts are made for anthologies, Jemma and Gabriel’s story has SO much to it – a good delve into their lives could have easily kept me wrapped up in a novel length version.

Better Latte Than Never by Katrina Sizemore 4.5*

Really cute, this story wrapped up nicely in short story form. Lonely girl has to work all day in the coffee shop with an old flame – or rather, her old crush. What she doesn’t know, is he’s crushed on her for half of forever too. A mysterious delivery of roses brings back memories for Hailey, and her determination finds her an unexpected answer.

Dream Architect by S.L. Hughson 4*

Ms. Hughson’s story hit home for me. Big time. While the writing wasn’t as captivating as some of the others, Ashlin’s character – who she was because of those in authority around her – spoke to my heart. Manipulated into believing she had a set fate in life, Ashlin didn’t dare to dream. I loved how Dylan steps in and opens her eyes. A lovely, sweet story of finding independence and love.

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin 4*

This is one story I would have loved to see expanded. The falling in love happened WAY too fast – even with the paranormal aspect involved. Girl wants revenge on her ex, blogs about needing a hottie date for her reunion to show the world she isn’t frigid like the ex claimed, and an angel answers, one who has been watching her for some time.

Throw in the need to have her fall in love with said angel before the end of Valentine’s Day night or else, and there’s some great tension. Just would have loved MORE.

That’s becoming a theme in this antho for me…

Rock My Bones by Wendy Sparrow 5*

OMG. Seriously? You end the story THERE?!? Dang, Ms. Sparrow. I wanted more…more…MORE I say!

Can you have any cuter of characters? With such insecurities and thoughts that make made me giggle and snort! Geek and artist—who’d think they had so much in common.

Best story of the antho. WELL done. Well done.

So, yeah. I wanted more. These are five authors I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes on for future releases. Off to stalk them now and see what back titles (if any) I can find…

A short word about this Anthology. Seldom do I find all believable characters in each story of an Anthology. There is always a story where I feel the characters don’t “jive” with my imagination. Leaving me with that flat feeling.

I did not have that problem with this series of short stories.

Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian

Gabriel was a drool worthy stay at home kinda of guy. A cook that loved to be creative in the kitchen. A GPS that malfunctioned and an ending without a insta-fix. (I hate that). I was pleased that the romance took it’s time, that being said. The first kiss threw me by surprise. If I wasn’t happily married I’d be begging for that GPS. Begging, on my knee’s while passionately pleading.

Better Latte than Never by Katrina Sizemore

This was a cute little coffee story. There was a bit of heart, a bit of rumbling, a bit of sadness and a bit of love in it. My kinda of story. The ending felt as if it took a bit to get there, but then again, that could have been me. I do like to hurry my endings because really. Endings of usually the best part of the story for me and this one didn’t disappoint.

Dream Architect by S. L. Hughson

Okay. I have to say it. I love Ashlin. The heroine was so smart and practical. I didn’t like Dylan as much. (I don’t have to.. Ashlin does!) He was a bit of a jerk but he grew on me. Their love story was still sweet.

One HOT Angel Jalee Austin
An Angel story. I haven’t read but a handful of angel stories. I liked this one. The main heroine came off as a bit of a selfish chicka though, but she did have her reasons. I wasn’t to sure why Mr. Hottie fell for her, but then again, I don’t have to know do I?

Rock my bones by Wendy Sparrow

I loved the spontaneity of this story. A serious staid Archeologist type guy, the artistic type hot chick. The ending was cute and not predictable. The only problem I really had was that it reminded me of the BONES TV show, which could have been a total me moment and not everyone else.

Since I'm one of the authors, I'll skip reviewing my own.

Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian - I think I liked this one the most, possibly because I empathized with the characters' flaws. I can't say why without major spoilers, but this was an interesting story--nice and deep. I thought the heroine should have picked up on what was happening sooner, but that's just me. Loved that the hero was a foley artist also...one of my favorite career choices of all time.

Better Latte Than Never by Katrina Sizemore - This was one of two New Adult stories, and, I'll admit, I'm not as into NA as most of the reading population. The characterization was true to their age and this was well written, but I have a hard time connecting to characters that age. If you like NA, then you'll probably love this story.

Dream Architect by S.L. Hughson - This was the other NA one and I liked it. There was some nice angst in this one that felt true-to-life. I wish there'd been more from the hero's POV--I thought the scenes from his POV really added to the story.

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin - This should have been a longer story. It was the steamiest of all of them with on-page sex and more language than the others, but the characters felt more sketched. I really liked him, but I just didn't feel the depth of the story was fully-explored which left the ending feeling abrupt. This could have easily been twice the length to explore the romance a bit more and flesh out characters. I really did like him, though.

and Rock My Bones is my own, so I won't review that one.

On the whole, I loved the variety of this anthology. Two had paranormal elements. Two were New Adult age. They all felt appealingly different. All of them were contemporary--and I love contemporary romance, so that was cool. They were great for getting me into the Valentine's Day mood.

Yes, I have a story in the anthology. No, I'm not going to review it. Here are my thoughts on the other four stories:
Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian
I enjoyed this story. It had enough of a whimsical feel to it – with the matchmaking GPS – that I kept reading to the end without stopping.
I didn't feel like the characters were very well-drawn. A few important facts were thrown our way, but not enough for me to believe their motivations.
It is the only story that takes place over the scope of a year. I did like this aspect because it made it more believable.
In the end, the dialogue felt unnatural. The resolution was over-explained. I felt like the original premise got lost in the shuffle. I still give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Better Latte Than Never by Katrina Sizemore
This was a New Adult romance that took place on a single Valentine’s Day. The characters were old friends from high school. It shifted between two perspectives, which makes for the best romances, I think.
I had a hard time gauging the age of the characters. The few references to time seemed to contradict each other. Because of the immature responses they had, I placed them around 20.
The point of this story was excellent. The plot and premise were well-designed. The tension kept my interest, but in the end I was still thinking, “Could we just talk to each other already?”
It was my second favorite of the four stories, though, and I give it four out of five stars.

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin
There were just too many ideological disagreements between me and this story for it to get a fair shake from me. Apparently, an angel fell in love with a human and wanted a chance to keep her from dying. This could be accomplished if she fell in love with him.
The way to make her love him was all about sex. This is the only story in the anthology with explicit sex and offensive language. I was shocked by that because it is classified as a “sweet” romance anthology.
The fact that heavenly beings use physical lust as a way to someone’s heart is wrong on too many levels for me to recount. The woman in the story was shallow and I couldn't relate to her motivation for destroying her ex-husband.
In the end, it is a two-star story in my book. The story and characters fell short, so it wasn't just the overall premise I found lacking.
Rock My Bones by Wendy Sparrow
This story is the crown of the collection. I wasn't sure if I would come away with a positive feeling about the anthology until I read this story.
The two points of view had a distinct voice and flavor. The idea that both of the characters wanted each other in advance made the fact the story happened in a day believable.
The museum setting was unique. The professions of the characters wasn't cliche. The sexual tension was strong and I was surprised at the forwardness of the female character (Shay – I love that name).
Still, the dialogue was snappy. The inner thoughts true-to-life. The characters and setting believable and well-constructed. It made me laugh aloud several times.
It’s exactly the sort of story that can make a cynic believe in romance again. It gets a solid five out of five stars.
Where does that leave the anthology? I would give it four stars. Overall, the stories delivered on their promise.

I got a free ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book includes five different stories from different authors. Although I only really liked two of the stories, the overall opinion is that it can be an entertaining little anthology for people who are real fans of Valentine's Day. I'm not. I prefer showing love to my husband any other day. But I digress. The book... I found that some of the stories needed more development, which would be solved if they were longer. Some of the characters lacked of depth and the dialogues sounded shallow sometimes. And still I kept on reading every night until I finished the whole book. I am very exigent with books, but this means that I found it entertaining even though I didn't enjoy all the stories.

A cute little anthology for romantic people, very apt for reading on Valentine's Day, either if you have a date or not. The five stories offer different approaches to love, with different people in different stages of life and different circumstances. In 'Guiding Hearts' you will read about an unexpected love story when a GPS seems to have a life of its own. In 'Better Late than Never' you will read about childhood lovers who get in touch again. In 'Dream Architect' you read about coworkers and their dreams. In 'One Hot Angel', an angel will find love on Earth. In 'Rock my Bones', destiny reunites an anthropologist and one of his fans.

If you are a fan of romantic stories, grab your copy and enjoy it this weekend. This book deserves 4 stars, but I found editorial and proofreading issues, and I remove stars for that.

I bought this anthology the day it came out, but haven't really had a chance to check it out due to a little boy potty training and sleeping in a big boy bed with no naps. I finally just decided to grab myself a few minutes and attempt to demolish my reading block and it worked! It's amazing how much better I feel after taking that mommy time and enjoying a few good romances.

The anthology was the perfect remedy because it was much easier to find a block of uninterrupted time for an hour rather than reading an entire novel, which my little dude is just not allowing these days. I enjoyed each and every story in this anthology, but my favorite would be Better Latte than Never by Ms. Sizemore. I liked that the characters had history together and the author made me feel like I was lucky enough to be one of the patrons in the coffee shop, witnessing some of the story unfold. The characters were real and relatable, even if I did yell at them a few times while reading. I rejoiced when Hailey finally got it. I loved how she handled it. We need more ladies giving the grand gestures. It was definitely her place to do it.

The story left me with a warm comforting feeling throughout my body, just like one of the delicious vanilla lattes

Great anthology! I'm looking forward to reading each author in the future.

Valentine’s Day is almost here and what better way to enhance your romantic side then a few stories to give you some pointers. Well maybe you don’t need them but everyone gets sappy on Valentine’s Day and a few good romances are always an added bonus. As with most anthologies you can’t love all the stories but I will let you in on a secret there is something here for everyone.

I really enjoyed the first story Guiding Hearts by Claire Gillian. A playful GPS plays cupid bringing together Jemma and Gabe. Talking to your GPS is something I do all the time. When the GPS decides to go wonky it leads Jemma right to the man whose voice she has been talking to. Fate has once again intervened. Gabe a soldier that is kind of shell shocked falls for Jemma at first sight. The characters were likable for such a short story. This is something that you could actually see happening, well okay the GPS is a little farfetched but you couldn’t help but fall in love with this couple. The GPS added a quirky touch to the story something that we could all relate to.

Dream Architects by S.L. Hughson seemed a little old fashioned to me but yet a fast paced and easy read. Ashlin wasn’t the son in the family architectural business yet she longed to be an amazing architect. In comes Dylan not wanting distractions as he is months away from graduating. In steps fate/cupid with those fleeting glimpses, the knowing that the kiss is coming…the heart pounding… It was a very sweet story of love and dreams.

Better Latte than Never by Karina Sizemore fell a little short for me. Unrequited love is usually a good basis for a story but these characters were flat. They didn’t seem to jump out for me. But, the overall premise was cute. Lovesick boys, no matter what they say, never seem to give up. They find that one girl and no one else measures up to her. But, finally when the time is right things just click. While Hailey tries to find out who sent the flowers Andrew just waits in the background. I wanted to hit Hailey because she couldn’t really have been that dumb.

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin was rather a bit much. Revenge to me just doesn’t fit the whole romance on Valentine’s Day theme. And an angel using his powers for lust/sex instead of opting for a little romance to change her mind. Doesn’t seem to be a very good start in a relationship to me…just saying.

I guess you can’t have a group of romance stories without showing that nerds fall in love too, which is what you get with Rock My Bones by Wendy Sparrow. This was a nice story to end the anthology with. The sexual tension was hot from the beginning. It was nice to see that girls can actually go after and get what they want. No fear…works for me.

Overall this was just what the doctor ordered for a snowy afternoon with a foot of snow falling all around. The stories helped to add a little heat to the afternoon. Once in a while we all need something that reads easy and we don’t have to think too much on. Even if the characters didn’t stand out the way you expect them to it wasn’t that bad all in all.

I really enjoyed this story, the characters, and the way the author created the "accident" for Valentines. I found myself quickly immersed in the story and laughing at the protagonists inner dialogue. Especially when it came to the GPS and where it was taking her. I think this story was a well crafted short story. The author not only wrote an entertaining story but one that has a deep underlying struggle for the characters.
4 out of 5 rating for me!

While I like the idea of this story and the "accident" inciting event it could have been a little better. It's a little pet peeve of mine in stories where characters lie when being truthful would have been so much better and saved them a lot of time. Perhaps it's because I'm a fairly honest and blunt person. Still, there characters have good hearts and it's a nice but predictable story.

This story was ok but it didn't quite hit home as much as I would have liked. The "accident" for this story was funny and plausible. I liked the characters well enough and the plot was good but it wasn't engaging enough for me. I skimmed a lot of the office work stuff which was kind of boring for me. I do like that the characters supported each other's dream to become better despite what anyone thought.

One Hot Angel by Jaylee Austin
Description: Oblivious to Tiffany Jenkins in three short weeks her life will end—unless she makes the perfect choice. Will she chose revenge and expose her ex-husband? Or chose love and surrender her heart to the only man who can save her?

I quite enjoyed this story even though it was highly unlikely, but then again I love fantasy stories. I loved the tone of voice of the writing. I found it entertaining and amusing. Again, the "accident" in this story is unrealistic but entertaining. I like how there is a struggle of morals for the characters. I also liked the protagonists and the story flew by for me because it I was eager to learn what would happen with the characters.

I ended up skimming this story because I wasn't that attached to either of the characters or the sexual tension between the two. I think it could have been a better story but I kept rolling my eyes at the dialogue and awkwardness of the characters. It prevented me from getting immersed in the story. The "accident" for this story didn't seem like an accident but more of a bumbling of ineffective or lack of communication.

Overall, it's a decent anthology which will fulfill your needs if you're ever in the mood for a variety of romances. As with most anthologies, some stories are better fleshed out or written than others but definitely worth a pick up if you like to see romances unfold.
