Villains & Vices #2

Depraved Desires

Rate this book
The USA Today bestselling author of Once You're Mine delivers the finale of the wickedly steamy, dark romance duet following a criminal psychologist in a game of cat and mouse with her serial killer patient.

My monster isn’t locked away anymore. He’s free. And he’s mine.

Every wall I once built between us has been demolished, replaced by Ghost’s merciless obsession. He isn’t my convicted patient anymore. He’s my shadow, my captor, and my addiction. Except it’s not my fear he wants anymore. It’s my total surrender.

The deeper I fall into Ghost’s world of vengeance and destruction, the more I see the He doesn’t just crave me. He wants to remake me in his image. And the most terrifying part? Somewhere in the darkness ... I want it too.

So, when I uncover the brutal truth about my parents’ deaths, a fire ignites in me. Revenge. The killers thought they buried their sins with the bodies they left behind. They never expected me to unearth them. Now Ghost and I share a hunger that no justice system can contain. Together, we’ll make them bleed. Or die trying.

Depraved Desires is Book 2 in the Villains & Vices duet. It contains explicit sexual content and a morally gray hero that's over the top jealous/possessive, a stalker who falls first, has Touch Her & Die energy, and is willing to do whatever it takes to have her.

Trigger stalking/obsession, blackmail/coercion, breaking and entering, violence, murder, attempted rape (not by the hero), and grief.

'My entire existence has always been ruled by anger and violence. It’s the only language I’ve ever known, the only thing that’s ever made sense. But touching her, feeling her warmth beneath my fingertips, it’s like she’s rewriting everything.'

ghost. 🤭😌😫 possessive serial killers do it for me every single time.

i will say, i didn’t enjoy the second book as much as i did the first, but it was still really good. geneva really came out of her shell and embraced her dark side, which was cool to see.😌

it did get a little repetitive towards the end, and there were a few more plot gaps than i would’ve liked. over seventy percent of the book took place in her apartment, which was fine, but i would’ve liked to have seen more of the prison setting. in the first book, they really showed how much geneva loved her job, but in this one she was there maybe once?😗

i loved getting more of ghost and geneva, though. they’re one of my favourite book couples. the passion, the tension, the fact that she’s the only one who truly gets him… 🥹

the kpop drama was a little much 🙃, but all in all i still really enjoyed it. i’d happily read another book about ghost and geneva. 🤭😌🥹🪽🤍

“I don’t understand second chances. But you… you feel like mine.”

“I’m yours. Always was. Always will be.”

“I’ll do anything, kill anyone, to keep you safe.”

“There’s no going back for either of us. That should scare the shit out of you.”

“You don’t understand, Geneva. I’ve always been one. The only difference now is I’m your monster.”

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨
⭐️ 3/5

❤️ Dark Romance
❤️ Morally Gray Hero
❤️ Stalker Romance
❤️ Touch Her & Die
❤️ Obsessive MMC
❤️ Revenge

After loving book one, I was really excited for this one. And while I still enjoyed Ghost and Geneva, this one just didn’t hit quite as hard for me overall.

Ghost is still absolutely unhinged 🤣 Like terrifying, obsessive, possessive… but somehow also funny? The man is a complete psycho and I kind of loved that about him.

I also liked seeing Geneva step more into Ghost’s world in this one. Once everything surrounding her parents started unraveling and she started going after answers, I found myself way more invested.

That said, the first half felt a little slow for me. I was definitely interested in figuring out who was after Geneva and what was really going on, but it took a bit to fully pull me in.

I will say the second half was much stronger for me. Once the pacing picked up and everything started coming together, I was locked back in. The revenge aspect, the added tension, and Geneva fully embracing the chaos? Loved that.

Also Benedetto cracked me up every time he was on page 😂

Overall, I liked the ending of this one a lot more than the beginning. I still enjoyed Ghost and Geneva, but book one was definitely the stronger read for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC opportunity. As always, all thoughts are my own.

I had described the character “Ghost” in my review of Book 1 of Morgan Bridges’ Villains and Vices duet as

“…one of those brilliant minds. Almost like Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs—most definitely having that vibe. But as with The Joker, he is unpredictable, explosive, very much a loner, and obsessed with Geneva. The way the story evolves beyond the doctor-patient relationship is incredibly well done, drawing you in with high suspense, steamy scenes, questionable actions, and Geneva’s introspection.”

Book 2 takes his character, as well as Geneva’s, in an unexpected direction. I had all these theories about how Book 2 was going to go down, and I was wrong! I’m ok about that though. I’m actually more than okay. I love delving deeper with Ghost’s story. He truly has that “burn the world for her” mentality for Geneva. And who knew this would be a wee bit of a tear-jerker? It was indeed.

I highly recommend The Villains and Vices duet. It was a fantastic read. Thank you to @readforeverpub and Author Morgan Bridges for the gifted e-copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’m not even going to lie, after I read “Once You’re Mine” and “Now You’re Mine”, I was super hesitant to read another duet by Morgan Bridges. This duet though… is so beautiful. I devoured both books in two days and it is probably one of my favorite duets ever. Ms. Bridges, you have outdone yourself.

It took me more than three days to finish this book, even though I finished the first one in just six hours and completely fell in love with it. But this time, the story felt slow and, at times, even boring. The plot lacked excitement, and even the chemistry between the main couple seemed to have lost its spark.

I'm not sure if it's because I read the first book months ago and lost my connection to the characters since I didn't reread it before starting this sequel, or if it's simply because I'm currently in a reading slump and not in the best mental state. Honestly, I don't know.

Despite how much I love Morgan's books, and how badly I wanted to give this one five stars, I just couldn't. I simply didn't become obsessed with it the way I expected. Yes, I enjoyed it and had fun while reading, but that feeling was only temporary. It didn't leave the lasting impression her books usually do. Maybe one day, when things settle down, I'll reread it and see it from a different perspective.

Another thing that affected my experience was the sheer number of spicy scenes. It felt like almost every chapter had one. I don't mind them at all, but here they seemed to exist mainly to make the book longer. Honestly, three scenes—or even just brief mentions—would have been more than enough. It felt excessive, and that's not what I'm used to from this author. As far as I know, she usually focuses much more on the plot than on the spice, so I was genuinely surprised by how often those scenes appeared throughout the book.

Geneva isn’t a means to an end. She means everything.

I don’t pray, but for her, I might make an exception. Just this once.
God, please save Geneva. I can’t go through that type of loss again…

The demons inside me are quiet now. They’re silent in a way that’s unprecedented, like they’ve been sedated by the simple act of touching her.
My thumb moves in slow circles, stroking the soft skin of her face, and the rage simmering in my blood begins to fade.
I slide my hand down to her arm, splaying my fingers over her shoulder, then drag them to her wrist. Her hand lies limp against the blanket, her fingers delicate and pale, and I trace each one. It’s such a minor thing, this small connection, but it brings me peace. A foreign concept in a lifetime of chaos.
My entire existence has always been ruled by anger and violence. It’s the only language I’ve ever known, the only thing that’s ever made sense.
But touching her, feeling her warmth beneath my fingertips, it’s like she’s rewriting everything. Geneva is teaching me a new language. One I didn’t even think I was capable of understanding.

“You have no idea what you do to me. What you mean to me,” I whisper, my voice rough. “You might not think this is love, but I can’t imagine anything greater, or more powerful. The things I would do for you…”

I don’t know what I’d do without her.
Most likely set the world on fire and kill people so their loved ones would feel a fraction of my pain.
I sit there for what feels like hours, my fingers lightly entwined with Geneva’s, letting her very presence envelop me. The demons are still there, lurking in the corners of my mind, but for the first time they’re content with the blood on my hands and this woman at my side.

There it is again. That laugh. That hint of joy.
I want it.
I want to steal it, hoard it, capture it. Whatever the fuck it takes to make sure it’s mine.
The only problem is that I don’t know how to elicit this reaction from her. Orgasms, anger, and shock are my specialties. But happiness and laughter? They’re as foreign to me as love. But like that emotion, I’m determined to experience it.
Only with Geneva.

I want Geneva in every way.
Until there’s nothing left of her that doesn’t belong to me.

“You can’t just go out there and start killing people, Ghost.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t want to see you as a monster.”
His lips curl into a smile. “You don’t understand, Geneva. I’ve always been one. The only difference now is I’m your monster.”

It’s worship.
He treats me like I’m something sacred and untouchable, yet he can’t help but defile me. Like the more he consumes me, the closer he is to salvation.
Ghost has made me his religion.
I feel it in his touch. The way his hands glide over my skin with reverence and awe, memorizing me like a devotion whispered in the dark.
There’s no hesitation in him, no doubt. Only faith. A primal, terrifying faith that I am his. And he is mine.
His kisses are prayers. Desperate. Passionate. A plea and a promise wrapped in sin. His body is an altar, built for destruction and control, but he lays it before me willingly.
And only me.
He clings to me with a devotion so absolute, it’s frightening. Because faith like his doesn’t waver. It doesn’t allow room for doubt.
And faith like that?
It burns.
It consumes.
It has the ability to destroy.
But Ghost doesn’t fear destruction. He welcomes it. Thrives on it.
So if having me means burning the whole world down, he’ll strike the match with a steady hand. Because in his mind, I’m worth the fire.
I’m worth everything.

I don’t know how to do relationships; I know how to dominate.
I don’t know how to be normal; I know how to create chaos.
But she’s still looking at me like she expects more. Like I can be more.
For her I’ll try.

She looks at me like I’m something worth understanding, something worth keeping. Fuck, I’ll do anything to keep that expression on her face.
She’s mine.
It’s a stronger declaration than any wedding vow. Although the “till death us do part” is implied. And not meant figuratively.

Geneva doesn’t break me with force. She doesn’t even try to. She’s just herself. And that’s enough to destroy me.

“I love you more than the breath in my lungs or the blood in my veins.. Like them, I can’t survive without you. So don’t ever leave, or you’ll fucking kill me.”

You think I’m scared of a little thing like the government?
Pfft. The only reason I was in prison is because it provided you with a false sense of security. I knew you’d never agree to talk to me otherwise. After my stay, I’d rate it half a star, but only for the free food.
That’s not romantic. That’s psychotic.
Baby, it can be both.
And what was the plan after that?
Charm me with your winning personality?
No. Just hold you hostage until you fell in love with me.
Well, congratulations. Your hostage has Stockholm Syndrome.
Geneva...
What?
I love you.
I know

“I will never get on my knees for anyone. Except you. And if I do, it’ll only be for two reasons. The first is that I’m going to eat your pussy. The second is because I’m going to propose

“I love you,” he whispers. “God, I love fucking you. I love touching you. I love the sound of your voice. Just looking at you kills me.”

I’m more than addicted to Geneva.
I’m hers.
A devoted worshipper at the altar of her violence.

If I could carve myself into her skin and be inside her permanently, I would.

Geneva is like moonlight touching the ocean—constant, relentless, lighting even the darkest waters, whether it’s calm or storming.
I reach for her, weaving my fingers through hers, gripping tightly. “I don’t need a clairvoyant to tell me that she saves me. I feel it. Every single moment I’m with her.”

“I’m your ‘end,’ just like you are my ‘beginning.’ That’s all that matters.” “Beginning of what?”
“The beginning of my life. A real one. With you. With a love that terrifies me. Because for once, I see something worth being sane for.” He gives me a wry smile. “Or at least attempting to.”

With you, I have everything I could ever need. Or want.”

But I’d rather have a few stolen nights with you than a lifetime with anyone else.”

“You’re not just protecting her,” she says to him. “You’d burn someone alive just to keep her warm.”

“I’ll take scared. I’ll take uncertain. I’ll take every broken piece of you, if it means I get to keep you.”

“I’m okay.”
“Not good enough.” His voice drops to a whisper. “I need you breathing, thinking, and arguing with me. Not bleeding in my arms.”

“I don’t understand second chances. But you… you feel like mine.”
I thread my fingers through his hair and pull him down to me, breath to breath. Heart to heart.
“Then don’t waste it,” I whisper. “Live with me. For me.”
“As if I don’t already. As if I haven’t been since the first time I saw you.”

“There,” she whispers. “You’re mine.”
“That’s all I’ve ever wanted to be.”

“You’ve always had me, since the first moment I saw you. Now I’m asking for you… to have and to hold, for the better because we’ve already seen the worse. I’m asking for forever and whatever is beyond eternity.
Marry me or kill me, Geneva Lynn Andrews, ʼcause I’m not going anywhere.”

Thank you so much to Morgan Bridges and Forever Grand Central Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Some people collect green flags. I collect fictional men who would commit multiple felonies before letting someone look at their girl the wrong way.Ghost continues to be at the very top of that list. Going into this sequel, I knew I wanted more of Ghost and Geneva’s completely chaotic, obsessive relationship—and that’s exactly what I got. Their dynamic is equal parts toxic, intense, and strangely romantic, and somehow Morgan Bridges makes you root for two people who probably belong on several government watchlists. One thing I really appreciated was Geneva’s growth. Instead of constantly resisting the darkness surrounding her, she finally leaned into it. Watching her become more confident and unapologetic made her a much more compelling heroine than she was in the first book.
That said, this one didn’t captivate me quite as much as the first installment. The story began to feel repetitive in the final stretch, and a few plot points didn’t feel as fully developed as I was hoping. I also missed the prison setting that gave the first book so much of its atmosphere. Since so much of this story unfolded inside Geneva’s apartment, it lost some of that unique edge. I especially wished we’d seen more of Geneva’s work, considering how important her career was to her character in the previous book. Even with those critiques, I was completely invested every time Ghost and Geneva were on the page together. Their chemistry is magnetic, their banter is addictive, and there’s something oddly sweet about the fact that she’s the only person who sees the man beneath the monster. Their relationship is disturbing in all the best fictional ways.
Would I read another book about these two completely unhinged people? Without a second thought.

Favorite quotes:

“My entire existence has always been ruled by anger and violence. It’s the only language I’ve ever known… But touching her, feeling her warmth beneath my fingertips, it’s like she’s rewriting everything.”

“I don’t understand second chances. But you… you feel like mine.”

“I’m yours. Always was. Always will be.”

“I’ll do anything, kill anyone, to keep you safe.”

“You don’t understand, Geneva. I’ve always been one. The only difference now is I’m your monster.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. Ghost is still one of my favorite fictional psychopaths, and apparently that’s something I’m willing to admit publicly.

MORGAN BRIDGES IS MY AUTO READ AND BUY AUTHOR AND SHE NEEDS TO BE ON YOUR LIST TOO!

If you have mot picked up this DUET WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE. GHOST SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT BOOK HUSBAND BECAUSE MIND BLOWN BY THIS DUET. I love these 2 characters badddddd. Think joker and Harley Quinn vibes BUT LIKE SO FCKING GOOD. I’m such a slvt for this man. This was one handed reading but it’ll have you squealing and kicking your feet on your bed.

“Geneva isn’t a means to an end. She means everything.”

So in the first book we have the push and pull and obsession ghost has towards Geneva. The plot twist that had me like omg GHOST GO GET YOUR GIRLLLLLLLL. Book 2 dives deeper into their soulmate connection. GHOST WILL BURN THE WHOLE WORLD DOWN FOR HER TYPE VIBES. this man went to prison had them all eating from his hand and it was like a resort for him pls I was laughing so hard at how unhinged this man was.

I loved how we get to see a side to ghost on a more deeper level. All his trauma and what made him “ghost”

You also have Geneva where she’s realizing how deep his obsession for her and his love for her is. They are both healing trauma in eachother. One cannot exist without the other.

I loved the plot and the twist and turns this story is about ghost but it’s also a connected love story about Geneva and how her past. Ghost helps her get her revenge and justice and helps her be the person she’s meant to be.

THE SPICE DEAR LORD THE SPICE HAD ME TOOTIN LIKE A TRAIN STEAM COMING OUT MY EARS.

“When you come, this time it’ll be because of my hand, not yours,”

The ending will have you crying it made me so emotional everything they had to go through and they made it.

“I’ll carry you with me. Always. But I have to go. I have to move on.”

If you love soul mate type connections push and pull an amazing revenge arc FMC finds out just how powerful she is, she makes him get in his knees and a HEA that they both had to crawl out of to get to PICK UP THIS DUET PLEASE.

Thank you so much for this ArC

First thank you Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing)/Forever for this advanced reader copy of Depraved Desires - by Morgan Bridges, Publishing on June 23, 2026.

We pick up book 2 of the Villains and Vices series exactly where we left off in Depraved Devotion. Morgan doesn't make us wait for that huge cliffhanger she left us with to have some resolution and boy was I was grateful! But then we immediately get sucked into the mystery of why on Earth is anyone going after Geneva?

I theorized in my review of book 1 thought there was a lot more to her parents than we knew and Ghost knew more as well, I was right but holy moly I did not expect all the twists and turns this had!

Did I ignore all of my responsibilities this week so I could finish this as quickly as possible, absolutely. Do I regret a single bit of it, absolutely not. Ghost & Geneva we're the perfect mixture of unhinged, toxic and insane that had me SAT. Their romance while incredibly unconventional and probably not the healthiest was shockingly wholesome at times. The moments we get where Ghost is vulnerable with Geneva were so satisfying and sweet. At the end of the day this was just two very broken people coming together and healing their trauma (unconventionally).

I have to include an honorable mention for Benedetto. His character is exactly what we needed for the comedic relief in this book. His quick-witted banter and unexpected friendship with Geneva was great. They had me cackling out loud multiple times in the story.

Sidenote, I am shipping Benedetto and Sarah so hard. Morgan give us an interconnected standalone with them next!

Ghost has obsessed over Geneva since the moment he first saw her, but when a more dangerous monster targets her, he won’t let prison bars keep him away. Keeping her safe becomes his number one priority, and when it turns out that those responsible for her parents’ deaths are coming for her next, he knows that he needs to take them out first. The deeper they dig into the past, the more Geneva comes to realize that she has her own dark side, and maybe the reason she has never found a worthy partner is because she needed one who’s darkness matched her own.

I received an early copy of this book from NetGalley and the author and I really enjoyed it. I loved how unlike other Dr/Inmate books where the doctor has to overlook certain things to accept a relationship with the inmate, this book took us into a completely different direction with Geneva not only having to look the other way to accept Ghost, but actually embracing her own darkness to get answers about her parents.

I loved that the story was about more than just them as a couple, as we dove right into the mystery that was her parents’ deaths, and who could be coming after Geneva after so many years. The twists and turns that this story brought had me on the edge of my seat, and the unconventional romance between Geneva and Ghost would have me coming back time and after time.

ARC Review-

This book had me completely obsessed from the first chapter to the last.

The stakes were higher, the emotions were darker, and the chemistry was absolutely electric. What started as an addictive story in book one turned into something even more intense as the characters embraced the chaos instead of running from it.

Ghost was everything I want in a dark romance anti-hero—unhinged, possessive, fiercely devoted, and willing to burn the world down for the woman he loves. But what really made this book shine was the heroine’s growth. Watching her step into her own power and stop being afraid of the darkness around her made every page impossible to put down.

The revenge plot added another layer of tension that kept me glued to the story. Every revelation raised the stakes, and I found myself constantly saying, “Just one more chapter,” until suddenly I was at the end.

This wasn’t just a romance—it was a descent into obsession, vengeance, and devotion wrapped up in a story that kept my heart racing the entire time. The twists landed perfectly, the emotional moments hit hard, and the ending left me completely satisfied.

If you love morally gray heroes, touch-her-and-die energy, obsessive devotion, high-stakes revenge, and dark romance couples who match each other’s chaos, this is a must-read.

This duet completely consumed me.

Depraved Desires takes everything established in book one and pushes it even further emotionally. Ghost is obsessive, possessive, protective, and deeply unsettling at times, but Morgan Bridges gives enough emotional depth to both characters that their connection remains believable throughout the story.

Geneva’s development was honestly my favorite part. Her struggle with grief, morality, vengeance, and desire felt layered and emotionally authentic. Watching her slowly embrace parts of herself she had spent so long fighting made the story feel much deeper than just a dark romance.

The chemistry between Ghost and Geneva is intense from beginning to end, and the suspense and revenge elements kept the pacing strong throughout.

This is definitely a darker romance, and readers should absolutely pay attention to trigger warnings. But if you enjoy obsessive heroes, morally gray relationships, psychological tension, and emotionally consuming romance, this duet delivers all of that beautifully.

I love these types of series/duets. Depraved Desires picks up right where book one ends. If you haven't read the first one YOU NEED TO in order to read this one. Ghost is our MMC, and in this one we find out his actual name! And Geneva is our FMC. We still have the Joker/Harley Quinn vibes. While we learn why Ghost surrendered himself and the shenanigans he was up to in book one. This one both characters are moving around! I like that the first one has the prison and that we see all that Ghost can and will do for Geneva. I really like that this one they are in various locations. Geneva learns what really happened to her parents and now she craves revenge. Who better to help her than her over protective/obsessive serial unaliver patient/stalker. We still have that touch-her-and-die theme and he really is over the top. I loved them together and I really feel that her character progression is great in this. Geneva really finds herself and what she is willing to do and become. I can't wait to reread this in the future with the audio it is going to be so good! I also need to get my hands on a physical copy pronto!

Thank you to Forever for the complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Picking up where Depraved Devotion ended, this book was captivating, dark, smutty, and entertaining. The perfect conclusion to this duet.

It’s dual POVs of the main characters, and there are some great tropes like a serial killer x psychologist, touch her and die, an obsessive hero, and a forbidden and dark romance.

The premise was interesting and fast-paced. The mystery, revenge, revelations, and romance kept me invested from beginning to end. I just really loved how this picked up right off where book one left us. So we’re immediately thrust back into this world.

There was more backstory to the hero’s character, which I really enjoyed. As he opened up more, he was able to connect with the heroine on a deeper level. This did not mean he completely changed though! He was still unhinged, intense, and obsessed in the best ways.

The heroine’s journey did not disappoint either. She was able to embrace the darkness with the help from the hero but still be true to herself.

The romance was absolutely amazing. Their tension was higher, chemistry stronger, and the spice more passionate. These two were just perfect for each other despite their unconventional romance.

That said, parts of this book felt somewhat repetitive and a few plot points could have used more development.

Overall, this was still a fun, steamy, dark romance read with a satisfying conclusion.

4.5 rounded up!!

i DEVOURED this in the same way i did depraved devotions!! i have been on the edge of my seat for this follow up after the diabolical cliff hanger from book one, which thankfully we pick right back up in the same moment at the beginning of this book and i was immediately sucked right back in with my heart in my throat 🫣

i am 100% a ghost apologist, toxic i know but hes hot, blonde and if that wasnt enough heres another example - “I dig my fingers into her skin just enough to leave an impression, a temporary mark despite the forever I want to have.” hes ALSO a romantic girls, gays and theys!!!

while i think book one remains my fav of the duo just because of how tension filled, forbidden and high stakes it was i LOVED the concept of them teaming up and working together to not only save genevas life but solve the mystery of what truly happened to her parents.

benedetto was honestly the star of the show in this book to me lol, i was constantly giggling and twirling my hair when that man was around. the unexpected friendship built between him and gen was also a hoot, i just know ghost will be exasperated by the two of them for the rest of eternity lol. i truly hope that we get to see more of him one day 😋

Thanks so much to Forever and the author for the review copy.

I absolutely loved the first part of this duet (the audio is AMAZING) and I was just as thrilled with the second half.

First off, this is a DARK romance with a morally black MMC who will do anything and everything to protect the woman he loves - and she’s no angel either. It’s spicy and action packed, full of suspense and violent (but to me, not overly gory). If those things bother you, this isn’t the read for you. But if you’re good with it, this book is so well done!

This is a fast paced read that picks up right where book 1 left off. Geneva is in danger and Ghost is pulling out all the stops to not only keep her safe, but to end the threat together. Along the way, we gain strong side characters (love you, Benedetto!) and solve the mystery of what happened to Geneva’s parents, and why.

It’s a bit heisty at times, especially the climax, and I loved this. Ghost is a plotter, and both MCs are smart, so this reads so true to the characters. The humor is dark and tongue-in-cheek. We get lessons, but instead of sexy ones, these lessons are more stabby. And sometimes spicy.

Will absolutely read more by this author!

I don't think you guys understand how much I loved the first book or how patiently I waited for this one to finally come out. I was hoping I'd love it just as much, and somehow I ended up loving it even more.

Ghost is absolutely unhinged in the best way possible. He's hilarious, completely psychotic, and I adore him. The things he says to Geneva had me giggling nonstop and honestly wondering if there's a man out there who talks like that. A girl can dream, right?

And Geneva? I loved her. She's such a strong FMC, and the way the author developed her throughout this book was incredible. She really came into her own, and I was rooting for her every step of the way.

Before I forget, can we talk about Ben? I love that man. He's such a cutie, and when Sarah entered the picture I immediately started hoping something would happen between them. Please, I'm begging for it. 😩

If you haven't read the first book yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up first. Definitely check the trigger warnings, though, don't say I didn't warn you. This duet has easily become one of my favorites, and I already know it's something I'll revisit whenever I'm feeling nostalgic.

Depraved Desires is an intense, dark, and addictive conclusion to Ghost and Geneva’s story. After everything that happened in the first book, Ghost’s obsession with Geneva reaches a whole new level, but we also get to see a more vulnerable side of him, which makes their relationship even more compelling.

What I loved most was the way the story blends dark romance, mystery, and revenge. As Geneva uncovers the truth behind her parents’ deaths, she and Ghost are pulled into a quest for justice that brings them even closer together. The twists keep the pages turning, and the revelations come together in a satisfying way.

Ghost remains possessive, obsessive, and completely unhinged, but his devotion to Geneva is undeniable. Meanwhile, Geneva steps into her own power and takes a much more active role in shaping her future. Together, they make a chaotic, toxic, and strangely perfect couple.

After reading Depraved Devotion and really enjoying how that story came together, I went into this one with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, this ended up being a solid 3-star read for me.

The writing itself kept me engaged and there were moments that reminded me why I wanted to continue with this world, but overall I found myself wanting more from both the story and the plot progression. The pieces were there, yet it never fully delivered the emotional payoff or depth I was hoping for.

Compared to the previous book, this one felt like it wrapped things up but left me wanting more substance, more tension, and stronger development to make the journey feel complete. It wasn’t a bad read by any means—it just didn’t hit with the same impact I expected.

If you already enjoyed Depraved Devotion, I still think this is worth picking up to continue the experience, but for me it landed in the middle: enjoyable, just not unforgettable.

Adored the first, but the second not as much

I absolutely adored the first novel, even if the Joker and Harley Quinn motif was a bit overt (and even directly stated, if memory serves). For 2/3rds of it, the second feels like I’m reading a mafia crime novel that also wants to be a billionaire romance with completely different characters who just so happen to look like the protagonists from the first book.

There are inconsistencies elsewhere, too. Given that the male lead is at large, why was this not even mentioned until chapter 21? His ability to go out in public as a recognizable figure, act as a vigilante detective, and return to the heroine’s home at night begs too much credulity. Much of the spark and banter was left to the female lead and her bodyguard binging K-dramas during the first half of the book. And in chapter 43, the heroine was bound and held hostage by a villain, but she can teleport when asked to come to the male lead’s side? And how could the female lead’s bestie know she was in New Orleans if it was such a secret mission?

I wanted more from this book, but I’m still grateful I preordered it to support the author.

This one was even better than Depraved Devotion. Ghost, now known by his real name, is the epitome of 'touch her and d1e', he holds no punches and takes no prisoners, unless Geneva needs to speak with them. The story came full circle, from Geneva believing he can't feel feelings and emotions to realizing a traumatic event is the reason Ghost shut himself down and became who he is. Ghost being one of the only people who can help Gen get justice for her parents murd3r does anything and everything possible, including bringing on a friend of his, Benadatto. Gen brings on Sarah and honestly I would like to see something between Sarah and Benadatto as I think I saw sparks flying between them.

Depraved Desires doesn't showcase folie a deux, it shows what one person is willing to do to seek justice and another's willingness to ensure that justice. Yes, there is madness between them, but it was there in Geneva before her relationship with Ghost, just hidden under a mask.

⭐ ARC REVIEW ⭐
Okay umm, WHAT IN THE FUCK?! this book was even better than the first one and I didn't think that was possible.
Geneva and Ghost (or should I say Liam) have this story that just pulls you in and doesn't let you go. I'll be thinking about them for the foreseeable future.
And don't even get me started on Benedetto. He was honestly my favorite side character with his dark humor and how he was willing to help Ghost and Geneva, but then actually came to really enjoy their company.
There was so much that happened in this book that I can't talk about bc it would spoil it 😤
The murder, the sex, the love story was all 10/10 a masterpiece. Morgan just writes these stories so well and knows just when to add in some drama and excitement to keep you engaged. She's honestly one of my favorite authors and I feel so privileged that the publisher invited me to read this book.
