Oh this is sooo good. Definitely read trigger warnings because this is unhinged and will def having you going what 😳 multiple times but in the best way. My only complaint is I wish it was longer! I’d love to see more this story and our couple , especially doing terrible fd up things TOGETHER. But I am so here for a women and her feminine rights and wrongs and her man who has her back and cheerleads every step of the way. The spice was spicing and the plot moved quickly and just had such a dark gothic horror vibe that was like the magic sauce! Excellent debut

And I am pleased to say I am OBSESSED with this story. Read your trigger warnings ofc but then buckle in for a wild ride!

I love women empowerment, rage and revenge stories. And I love even more when it’s done with a big strong man cheering her on and not getting in the way.

Cassandra was everything! And I loved Izcacus very much. His devotion to her and the way he showed his adoration was simply perfection.

I am so excited to see what comes next for Delilah and will definitely be buying this when it releases!!

I AM UNWELL.

I binged this in one sitting and could not get enough!
I love the amazing detail that is written, her ability to write everything so graphically, you truly get the picture painted for you. I’d love to see the google search history at the time this book was being written 🤣

This book was hot, and gross, and exciting, and angry.
Izcacus is hot in a gross way 🤣 big c*ck obvi. Everyone needs someone who’s as obsessed and dedicated to them as he is with Cassandra.
Also, I loved the feminine rage aspect in this, we love seeing women become stronger 🙂‍↕️

And this had something I had never read before 👀 and I’m here for it… read to find out.🦴😈

I’m so intrigued by the other characters and can’t wait to see if we get to see more of them 👀

It is sooooo sinfully dirty and depraved and HOT. And there’s vengeance and a monster who is DOWN BAD for his lady. Definitely check the trigger warnings before reading, but if you want a totally smutty and dark monster romance, you need this one! 5⭐️

The book is fast-paced and so entertaining that I read it in a single sitting. I had planned to read a chapter but somehow was on the last page before I'd even realised.

I enjoyed Cassandra and the Monster's character arch. Cassie grew in strength and confidence, the Monster almost became more human.

The writing is what really made the book. the descriptions are crisp, the settings exquisite.

I particularly enjoyed when Cassie got revenge on Clayton and that it did not fall to the Monster to dispose of him (as I thought might happen). The focus of this story is very much on Cassie and the Monster but I would be interested to read or learn about other characters, especially Casper at the end!

A great first novel. I cannot wait to read more.

Delilah is clearly a talented writer and this debut proves that. If you're looking for a quick monster-fucker horrormance then I do recommend picking this up.

I personally have mixed feelings on this one though. Cassandra's character arc felt unbelievable to me, as such part two then let me down.

The epilogue however was my favourite part lol and I'd certainly be interested in reading more of the story alluded to there.

I begged and pleaded for a Nosferatu reimagining like this one and boy did Delilah deliver. 👏🏼

There’s monsters who stay monsters and women who have the chance to overcome the men that are the true monsters.

There’s also lots of creative ways of drinking 🩸 which is part of the reason I wanted to read this novella in the first place 😂

I am SHOOK this is a debut!? The writing is so beautiful and has a melodic feel about it. I really enjoyed it, I love feminine rage and revenge and Our Monstrous Hearts filled my cup all the way up. My queer little heart was also very satisfied 🤭

I love that Delilah clearly isn’t afraid to write the more, uh 👀 gross parts and you know what I ate it up. Love to push my boundaries and what I usually read.

This was a super quick read, and while it initially pulled me in with a strong, intriguing setup, it ultimately fell a little flat. It felt like it was reaching for something insightful while also leaning into smuttier elements — but the smut wasn’t developed enough to carry that balance.

Our FMC is trapped in an abusive marriage, rescued, and ultimately falls for the monster haunting the village. That’s essentially the gist of the plot, BUT…

Don’t get me wrong — there’s a meaningful layer of reflection here. There’s clear potential in the themes surrounding how women are viewed, agency, and loving beyond appearances. I just needed those ideas to be more fully explored.

What did he actually do to make her fall for him?
What is their court like?
Where are the emotional beats that make the romance believable?

And the epilogue didn’t quite land for me, especially considering the deep possessiveness he showed earlier — it didn’t feel aligned with the character or the relationship we were given.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, if this was not an ARC I would not have made it past page 1. In the second sentence of the whole entire book, the word “molest” is used to describe the monster eating something and that was more than enough for me to want to put this book down and never pick it up again. Our MMC sees that the FMC is being horribly abused and even tied up and left in the woods overnight as “punishment” by her husband and instead of saving her he just watches her get abused for SEVEN YEARS before he saves her from her husband. I cannot find it romantic in the slightest that he helped get her out of that situation when he waited 7 years to do anything in any way. Especially when finding her in the woods was the perfect time to scoop her up and get her to safety. Also she goes from being horribly abused to desperately wanting to f*ck the first thing she sees after getting out? With no healing time? No time to go from being scared and hurt to feeling like a person again? Every piece of this plot was incredibly rushed and how we got between each thing was incredibly confusing. It felt like I was reading a story board for an upcoming book instead of reading a completed book. There were no details about pretty much anything, at least that’s how it felt. How did she find out he could turn her into a vampyre? Why was she suddenly, out of nowhere, horribly aggressively desperate to be turned into a vampyre when the possibility of such a thing had never been brought up? I’m all for a revenge story but there was no build up to her killing her husband and all his friends. It was just very sudden and overly grotesque. It felt less like revenge and more like she just decided to be a deranged killer for fun or she felt like she needed to be for some reason?
This is already too long of a review so I’ll try to wrap it up. Saying things like “he guzzles my oozing menstrual blood” is just nasty to me. It’s not edgy or “unhinged”. There’s a way that scenario can be worded that would be more pleasant. Throughout the book I could not gather what was supposed to be pleasant about the situation she was in or the MMC in general.
At the time of ARC requests, all I knew about this book was that it was supposed to have Nosferatu and Jennifer’s Body vibes which I was super excited for. I didn’t see any Jennifer’s Body vibes and I only got some Nosferatu vibes. After I received the ARC the author released more information about the book (like the tampon slurping) that made me completely uninterested in this book but I’d already received the ARC and wanted to follow through with my promise to read and review it. I can absolutely say this book was not for me. Normally I can see how other people might like a book but with this one I am struggling to understand why people liked it so much. The concept has good potential but the execution was just really not great.

This story has so much potential, but I’m afraid to say that, for me, it fell short.

Imagine a young woman who has been trapped by her husband for years. Abused, mistreated, and immensely unhappy. One day, she’s taken by a half-dead monster who has been haunting the village for years. He’s fearsome and grotesque, but would give his life for her. She has to choose: go back to her husband and a life of pain, or give in to the darkness and embrace her own inner monster.

Delilah Thorne is a good writer. Her style is rather lyrical but easy to read. It’s a perfect fit for the genre, which is an erotic horror romance.

The story is about feminine rage and sexual empowerment. The FMC wants revenge, and as a woman myself, I totally understood her actions after reading what she’s been through. However, I felt that the story was rushed. With just over 120 pages, there was no time to really get to know the characters in depth. Actions followed each other quickly, but I felt like I was missing basic information while reading. For example, the monster’s backstory is a big blank spot, and for me, that’s a missed opportunity. Has he always been a monster? How did the castle become his home? Why is he haunting the village?

I know that missing this extra information is very much a me thing, so if you don’t feel the need to know all of this, you might absolutely love this story, because, as I said, it has a lot of potential. It is very erotic, but not for the faint of heart. It is a horror story, after all, so don’t skip the trigger warnings if you know you have some.

That being said, I’d like to add that I really love the overall idea behind this book, and the spicy scenes are impeccable. So if you’re into very erotic, short horror stories and don’t mind a lack of full, on-page character development, this might be the perfect story for you.

ARC Review. 4 ★

Let me preface this by saying that I’m not a huge monster/horror/gore girlie, that’s the only reason this is 4 stars instead of 5. It’s purely about preference. It was just a bit too much for me—like gross, but in a good way? I understand that’s pretty much the point, this book embraces taboos (some of which I enjoyed, others less so). It’s bloody, dark, and monstrous— in the best way.

The writing was absolutely decadent. It was so romantic and atmospheric, it’s difficult to believe this is a debut. Gothic romance has become one of my favourite genres this year, and this one fits very nicely into that category (though it’s probably closer to gothic erotica), it has a dark, gloomy forest and a dilapidated castle which is just shy of being considered a ruin, the vibes are immaculate. Also Vampyres? Need I say more?!

I adored the relationship between the FMC and ‘the Monster’, it’s remarkably sweet considering what they get up to! I love it when the MMC is obsessed with the FMC (as they bloody well should be).

I kind of wish it had been longer if only to read more of the lush writing. Can’t believe this is a debut and very much look forward to reading from Thorne in the future.

This is a DNF at 31% for me. It’s my first time really giving this genre a go but I’ve come to see it just isn’t for me! The writing isn’t too bad and the story is very fast paced, but there isn’t a great deal of substance to it which is such a shame. But the thing that got me was not the fact it was period sex, but the bloody tampon… I genuinely gagged a little bit and I think it’s more my own trauma with menstrual cycles than anything but it really was not for me. So I will be leaving the story where it’s at and bow out.

Overall, Our Monstrous Hearts is a story that offers some promise but does not vibe with me.

This novella follows Cassandra who lives in Rose Falls with her abusive husband Clayton. After dragging her into the Deadwood Forest where a monster lurks and tying her to a tree for yet another punishment, that is where the monster, Izcacus, claims her to be his without her even knowing and pines for her for 7 years.

First of, congrats to my beautiful friend on her debut novel! You should be incredibly proud for putting yourself out there and writing this ❤️

For someone who hasn’t really read monster romances, I enjoyed this one! Dani’s writing captivates you from the get go and keeps you in the story the whole way through.

Are there some scenes which weren’t for me? Yes, but knowing Dani I was aware what to expect, so I wasn’t shocked by them 🤭 but in saying that, the dude is a vampire, so a bit of blood play should be expected. I will also pretend Izcacus is more handsome than what he really is 🤣 though he is an absolute sweetheart towards Cassie, which she deserves after dealing with her arsehole husband. I do wish there was more though, to get a better understanding of some parts of the story.

P.S. can Aussie and British authors please stop spelling arse as “ass” PLEASE!

I was hooked from the dedication, omg. I definitely left Nosferatu like 👀 so I truly couldn’t wait to read this!!

The writing in this is beautiful - you are immediately sucked into the horror and romance in this, and it’s done so well. There aren’t any moments or details that are shied away from (so please review the tw!), and that felt so fitting for their world and story. I finished this in one sitting because I wanted to find out what happens!

Cassandra’s arc was so captivating, I loved the intro and the fantasy of being saved (only to fear she’s traded her husband for a monster). And then to find what kind of a man he is - phew! Izcacus’s obsession was everything - the way he worships her and is so completely down and encouraging of her embracing his world.

And the way she does - you’re in for a treat.

This one is definitely for the monster girlies (gn) 💖 and excited to read more from this author!

Guys I really do like horror romance and it is here to stay😍 I was surprised to see how short it was because I want more! I knew their tropes were exactly what I liked and after the recent uptick of gothic horror movies, I was still riding that high when I came across Our Monstrous Hearts.

There is just something about a monster not being the Monstrous being in a book that has me smiling because I love that narrative so much. The feminine rage I felt for Cassandra and the way she took charge on her own had me healing. Izcacus being the number 1 cheerleader and support for her has me swooning. Because what do you mean the "monster" has more respect to ask for consent than a human man?! The same monster who respects her choice over her own body? ID CHOOSE THE MONSTER.

The quotes in this book had me reeling as well. The writing is poetic and has me highlighting the entire book. I mean, "she is the breath that sustains my wretched body," ? I fear that raised my expectations for real men😂😍

Our Monstrous Hearts sank its claws into me from the first chapter and did. not. let. go. This book is raw, unsettling, atmospheric, and completely addictive in that “why am I terrified and swooning at the same time?” kind of way.

Delilah Thorne blends horror, dark fantasy, obsession, and monstrous romance so seamlessly that I’m still thinking about the tension, the blood-soaked beauty, and the way every scene felt like standing on the edge of something dangerous.

The characters? Unhinged in all the right ways. Broken, sharp, feral, and hauntingly compelling. The dynamic between them is intoxicating—equal parts fear, fascination, and forbidden pull. I LIVE for relationships that feel doomed but inevitable, and this book serves that flavour on a silver platter.

The atmosphere is incredible—dark forests, unsettling magic, that creeping sense of dread… but also moments of softness that make you question whether the monsters are monsters at all.

I’m obsessed. Completely obsessed. This is the kind of story that crawls under your skin and stays there.

This is perfect for readers who want their romance twisted, bloody 👀, and beautifully monstrous.

If you treat trigger warnings like a shopping list, have I got a book for you. This novella packs horror, romance, and erotica into a little over 120 pages, and you’ll end up wanting more by the time you hit the last page. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed just about every second of it.

We follow Cassandra, who is living in a waking nightmare, let down by every person in her life who should love and cherish her. When she crosses paths with the Monster, she finally learns her worth and is worshiped like a goddess. When the reckoning comes, it’s incredibly satisfying to watch her feminine rage unleashed.

Let’s be for real here: this is monster erotica with plenty of spice, and I absolutely adored it. The Monster is a vampyre with more Nosferatu allure than Edward Cullen. He unapologetically eats people but worships Cassandra instantly. Their relationship accelerates quickly because of the novella length, and I found myself craving even more time with them.

If you’re looking for a quick, smutty monster romance stuffed with content warnings, give Our Monstrous Hearts a read.

🚨 Please check the triggers 🚨

This is perfect for fans of old school horror and those who grew up on vampire novels. It has all those creepy feels and paints some very vivid pictures. If you love your monsters more monster than man, dive in!

Cassie has had the absolute worst life. She somehow endures and is finally released from her terrible marriage and living conditions by the monster of Rose Falls.

The Monster, Izcacus, noticed his beautiful prize in the forest late one night after he sees her being….hurt. She brings a protectiveness out in him he long thought dead. His humanity starts to come back, this tiny human woman brought the man out of the monster.

Of course Cassie is initially unsure of her new place in Izcacus life, old insecurities come racing forward. She needs closure and Izcacus provides that for her. And then, her feminine rage comes out full force. She immediately leans into her new life and becomes the beast she was meant to be.

Izcacus worships Cassie and treats her better than her husband or parents ever did. She is his focus, her desires, her pleasure, her happiness. She completes him.

Their new family and dynamic is a whole new experience for both of them.

first off a HUGE congrats to my beautiful friend on her author debut!! I’m so grateful to have been able to read this as an ARC!

This book normally is not something I would ever pick up. I am not a horror person at all, and only indulge in a horror movie whenever my partner manages to convince me “it’s not that scary” (but it always is 🤣) However this book surprised me SO MUCH. Don’t get me wrong, this book is totally unhinged and feral. Blood and guts everywhere. And I mean… EVERYWHERE. I went into this read thinking I was going to hate it, and I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised.

How Delilah Thorne made me care about a disgusting, rotting, nosferatu lookalike honestly should be studied because I found myself going “awwww🥺” at Izcacus multiple times. And Cassandra’s rage was RAGING. I loved how she got her revenge in the end (even if it grossed me out lol)

This book is raw, grotesque, bloody, and feminist af. This one is for all the girlies who watched Nosferatu and thought “…smash”. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t love a monster who would quite literally tear apart the entire world by hand for the woman he loves 😉

If you love your romance pitch-black, unhinged, and dripping with heat, this book is IT. Loosely inspired by Nosferatu, Izcacus is one of the most terrifying, grotesque monsters I’ve ever read—jagged, monstrous, absolutely nightmare fuel… and yet somehow the most devoted, reverent love interest to ever exist. And yes, his massive assets definitely do some heavy lifting. Literally.

Cassandra is everything: a woman burning with feminine rage, clawing her way toward revenge and rebirth. Her journey of sexual awakening is messy, violent, empowering, and beautifully written. The yearning between her and Izcacus? Absolutely feral. Their dynamic feels like watching a storm collapse into a wildfire—wrong, intense, and impossible to look away from.

The revenge arc? Perfection.
The spice? Unholy.
The romance? So twisted it becomes tender.

This book took me places I did NOT expect to go, and I loved every wicked, scorching second. If you want dark fantasy, monstrous devotion, and a heroine who chooses power over fear, you need this on your shelf immediately.

Delilah's writing is quite 'beautiful' which juxtaposes strongly with the crazy, unhinged elements of the story, combining to create a compelling narrative. There is incredible growth seen with our main character, going from an abused, quiet housewife, to taking control of her destiny and desires (even for our grotesque monster).
I would have maybe liked a little more depth from the main characters and at times I think a bit more inner conflict would assist in making the adjustment from kidnapper to lover more believable or relatable for the reader. I think Delilah is a promising new voice in the monster romance scene. I really enjoyed the filthy scenes also (please give me more of the group activities)

Overall, I enjoyed the writing and the story of conquering one's own demons (maybe with your own demon/vampire side kick). I would recommend it for lovers of the genre, who want a quick 2-3 hour read, but make sure to read the trigger warning list - my personal favourite was
'Questionable use of bones'

The Monster is HOT. The rotting, undying, festering, inhuman man of my dreams. Corpse daddy foreverrrrrrr.

The love that came to be had me crying!!!! To be adored and accepted, devoured entirely!!!! Me want 😭🙏🏻

And the ending!? Baby girlllllllll. I need MORE. I CANNOT WAIT TO FEAST MYSELF ON MORE OF YOUR WORK ❤️

This book was a dark little pleasure in the best way. Short, sharp, and dangerously addictive, it hooks you immediately and lets you get completely lost in the story without demanding a huge emotional or time commitment. Blink and you’re consumed.

Our Monstrous Hearts is unhinged....in the most delicious sense. If feminine rage, revenge, and a morally black monster do something for you, consider this your perfectly wicked treat. I am firmly in my monster era, and this story only cements it.

The spice? Absolutely feral. No notes. It scorches, it shocks, and it delivers. The pacing is swift and relentless, perfectly matching the dark, gothic atmosphere. My gothic-loving heart adored this depraved little detour.

That said.......heed the trigger warnings. Seriously. And yes, there is a scene that gives “boning” an entirely new, a meaning that made me pause, blink, and then keep reading anyway.
