Some books hurt in a quiet, subtle way. And then there are books like this one that walk up, grab your heart with both hands and absolutely wreck you.

Sixteen years… gone in a flash. 😭😭😭

I knew going into this that it would be painful, but nothing really prepares you for watching a man wake up in a life that is completely his and yet feels like it belongs to someone else. A wife. Children. A home full of memories. A whole life he built piece by piece. And his mind just… reaches out into empty space trying to find it.

“My brain reaches into thin air, feeling around and grasping at nothing while I attempt to remember her name.”

That line alone almost took me out. 😭😭 Because Kate is standing right there. His wife. His person. The woman who built an entire life beside him. And suddenly she’s a stranger to the man who used to know her better than anyone.

And Kate… wow. Truly the heart of this story. She’s strong in that quiet, devastating way where you can see how much she’s hurting but she keeps moving anyway because her family needs her. She’s raising their kids, trying to help Jackson navigate a life he doesn’t remember, and somehow still holding on to hope that the man she loved is still in there somewhere. 💔🥺 But what I loved most is that the book doesn’t pretend she’s endlessly patient or perfectly put together. She gets frustrated. She gets overwhelmed. She grieves the life they lost even while she’s trying to rebuild it. And yet her love for him never wavers. 🥹😭🫶🏼🫶🏼

“Everything is a tradition he and I started. He’s the primary reason for all the good I have. My entire life begins and ends with Jackson Wells.”

And you feel that truth in every single page. This wasn’t just a marriage to her. It was a whole life built together, tradition by tradition, memory by memory. 😭❤️

The kids absolutely shattered my heart too. Watching them try to understand why their dad feels so different now, watching them just want him to be there even if he isn’t the same person they remember… it was painful in the most honest way. They didn’t expect perfection. They just wanted their dad. And Jackson, realizing he’s hurting them but not understanding how to fix it, carried so much guilt that it made my emotions about him feel so conflicted. 😭😭😭 Because his pain was real too. Imagine waking up and everyone expects you to feel something you simply… can’t remember. 😔🥺💔

But what made this story so beautiful is that it doesn’t stay stuck in the grief. Slowly, something new starts to grow between them. Jackson might not remember the life he shared with Kate, but piece by piece he starts discovering the kind of man he was… and the kind of man he still wants to be. Watching him fall in love with her again was somehow both heartbreaking and breathtaking at the same time.😫😭

“I’d really like to get back to being your best friend, Kate.”
“Well, that was a title you were never going to lose, regardless. But I’d love to be your best friend again.”

And I swear that moment hit me harder than some of the big emotional scenes. Because their relationship was never just romance. It was friendship. Partnership. Years and years of tiny moments and inside jokes and shared dreams. Even without the memories, something in him still recognizes her. 🥹🥹

“I think if they woke me up from the coma, told me I had a wife, and asked me to pick her out of the lineup, I’d find Kate.”

Excuse me while I scream into a pillow 😭😭😭

This book is raw in a way that feels incredibly real. The healing isn’t neat or easy. There are setbacks, frustrations, moments where the pain feels overwhelming. But there’s also hope, and patience, and so much love holding everything together. And the Wells Ranch family surrounding them through all of it made the story feel even more powerful. That found family dynamic has always been such a special part of this series, and seeing everyone rally around Jackson and Kate during the hardest chapter of their lives meant everything.❤️🩷

By the end I was crying for a completely different reason than I was at the beginning. Because this story isn’t just about losing memories. It’s about love that survives even when the memories disappear.

And honestly… I can’t imagine a more perfect way for the Wells Ranch series to end. I’m devastated it’s over, but if this family had to say goodbye, I’m so glad it ended with a story that felt this meaningful.
Five stars. No hesitation. Just tears and emotional damage and me sitting here staring at the wall because my heart is still somewhere on Wells Ranch

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Received an advanced copy for an honest review.

Amnesia tropes have been around for many years and I expected this to be another just like the ones from the past. However, that is not the case here because MMC never fully gets his memory back. Which for a fictional romance, that is not a good thing - especially since MMC has kids and he should have been able to remember their birth, first word, steps, etc., and not to mention his wife. Yes, he has slight memories of random things here and there but not of his kids and not fully of FMC so the theme here is "starting over as a new man" and it just didn't translate well on page for many reasons.

I will say that it dragged A LOT and for more than 80-90%, I was not a fan of the MMC. He came across as a man-child & selfish prick. It was heartbreaking to read his thoughts about his kids and how detached & indifferent he was toward them. The scenes with his daughter in particular was heartbreaking. And his relationship with FMC was more about his horny thoughts than any real bonding or love. A few sex scenes towards the end does not a romance make....

What I did like though is how strong & resilient FMC is throughout this. How she never gives up on him, while at the same time dealing with so many heartaches (miscarriage, health issues, exhaustion, lack of sleep, heartbreak at the possibility her husband will never come back to her, taking care of the kids, house, nursing her husband back to health, etc.). I did love the support she got from his family.

Anyway, I had high hopes for this and while it wasn't what I expected or wanted, it didn't make me want to DNF either as there are scenes that are heartbreaking that kept my interest. I just wished we had gotten a bit of their past of how they were & what his personality was like vs how he was in the present because the few mentions of what a great husband & father he was before did not translate well to the present version - especially since this is a 16 year marriage and a great love.

I made it exactly zero chapters without tears.

This review is also written with tears.

Gosh - I don’t think I can really formulate a great review for this without crying so much it’s hard to see! This was SUCH a fantastic book.

Emotional in an utterly heart-wrenching way. Swoony. Sexy.

Just perfection in cowboy romance book form.

I can’t believe this is the end of Wells Ranch - I’m sad to see it go but I can’t wait for more from Bailey Hannah!

One Liner: Heavy, but hopeful

Jackson and Kate have been married for over a decade and have a chaotic but beautiful farm life with two kids. However, when Jackson ends up with a head injury and goes into a coma, he wakes up with no memory of his life. Doctors are confident his memory will return in time, but until then, Jackson feels like a stranger around his loved ones and the life he lived forever.

Kate does her best to be positive, but she can’t help but worry. The support from the Wells Ranch family keeps her going. Despite the struggles, Jackson and Kate form a new bond, and gradually, he recollects bits and pieces of his past. But the road to a new HEA is a long one!

The story comes in Kate and Jackson’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts

This is my second amnesia book in 2026, and TBH, I had to wait many months to get approved for this. Finally, it came through.

Though it is the 5th and final book in the series, it works as a standalone, or at least I think so (unless what I wanted was in previous books).

There’s a detailed list of trigger warnings right at the beginning, and I appreciate that. Made it easier to be prepared, even though a couple of them are spoilers.

The injury, hospitalization, etc., are all detailed and intense and sad, but they also show the love between the characters.

The first half is definitely stronger as it is an emotional rollercoaster. Everything builds really well in this part.

The kids are sassy, naughty, and full of life. Feral is the word for it, and I love that it’s the girl who is more feral and a farm person than her younger brother, but also loves princess Barbies, is a cat rescuer, and does all the girly stuff too. Who said kids should choose? They can be everything!

The FMC is literally the strength of the book. She carries the weight of everything, and I honestly wish she leaned a little more on the others.

The MMC arc is kept realistic, which doesn’t always show in a positive light, but I applaud the choice made here. Risky in a way, and yet it makes sense. Recovering from a complex brain surgery, losing memories, the weight of family expectations, the image of his former self to live up to, the struggle to find his place among his people- all of it makes things hard for him.

I could have done with less lust and more emotions, but the book is already heavy, so maybe the idea was to balance it out. Instead, I’d have preferred if we got flashback chapters because we really don’t know who he was before. We are told many things, but we don’t see any of them, and there lies my biggest issue with the book. That contrast just isn’t there, and it is very much necessary. 5-6 chapters from the past would have helped a lot (there’s sixteen years' worth of history between the characters, and that deserved to be shown).

The second half is also slower than the first because of the extended spice scenes. While they help the characters with emotional bonding, they just feel too long.

There’s an epilogue which I like. It’s realistic, and I’d rather have it that way than sudden miracles. Matches the tone and vibe established so far. A couple of things could have been handled better, but the overall feel works.

To summarize, Love Wells Kept is an intense and bittersweet story about a family that learns to rebuild after a traumatic accident and memory loss. It did make me teary-eyed a few times, despite the flaws. This is one author I’ll be looking forward to reading again.

Thank you, NetGalley and Ballantine (Dell), for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

I had no doubt in my mind that Bailey was going to deliver absolutely everything we needed with the final book of her Wells Ranch series, but I still don’t think I was prepared for how much this would hurt in the best possible way. I have tears running down my face and I can’t even see my phone screen as I type this, I’m literally doing my best okay?? Be prepared for me to add to this review 45 times because I just feel like I have so much to say.

I can’t even fully explain how bittersweet this feels. This series has become my safe space. Every time I pick up one of her books, it feels like coming home, and this one hit a little differently. Not only was the story heartbreakingly beautiful, but I was crying the entire time just from the anticipation of closing out a series that means this much to me.

She really did save the best for last. I adore every book in this series and I’ve given them all five stars, but this one was something else entirely. It was so beautifully written and handled with such care, especially for something as delicate and devastating as a brain injury. It felt real in a way that almost hurt too much to read. Nothing was sugarcoated the fear, the anger, the confusion, the PAIN… Jackson’s experience was written with such brutal honesty that it broke my heart over and over again.

And then there’s Kate on the other side of it, holding everything together while quietly falling apart herself. She carries so much in silence, trying to be strong for her family and her husband after something so traumatic, while also dealing with her own trauma. I just wanted to reach through the pages and hug her. She’s one of the most beautifully written FMCs I’ve read, her strength, her heart, her loyalty, her faithfulness… everything about her is so deeply lovable.

Their relationship is something really special. Watching them fall in love all over again was devastating and beautiful at the same time. Kate knows her husband and loves him with every fiber of her being, but seeing Jackson rediscover just how incredible his wife is… that wrecked me. every detail, every thought, every quiet moment between them was written so perfectly.

THIS BOOK SERIOUSLY BROKE ME AT EVERY TURN. But I knew it all was going to be worth it in the end.🥹

And even through all of the heartbreak, I loved the other side of it the way he becomes someone slightly new, and she still loves him just as deeply. It feels like she gets two versions of the same man she can’t live without, and as painful as it is, there’s something really special in that too.

Seeing everyone together at the end, watching their lives grow and evolve, was so special. These characters truly feel like family. And that final moment where they all sat together and said “to Wells Ranch”… I literally screamed into my pillow. It was the perfect ending to an incredible series. I wouldn’t change a single thing.

I will forever ride hard for Wells Ranch and for Bailey. She deserves all her flowers. She created something so comforting, so magical, and I’m endlessly grateful for it. This series will always be a place I can come back to when I need home.

I know I’m getting all mushy and sentimental, but I really need to take a second to talk about how fucking hot this book is. The spice was next level. Jacksons mouth??? LAWDDDD okay that’s all. Bye for now

This one REALLY had me in the beginning. I was so surprised with how hooked I was from the start and how emotional it was.

But then unfortunately, I feel like the author didn't know where to go with this one. It felt like the ending was rushed and I LOATHED the back to back chapters of spice. It just felt so random to me. After 60%, I struggled and just wanted it to be over.

And at last, the final installment of the Wells Ranch series is finally here. Gosh, it's bittersweet to have reached the end. I'm so happy we finally got Jackson and Kate's story, but it's also sad knowing this chapter of the series is wrapped up... for now, anyway, if the author's note is anything to go by.

Going into this knowing Jackson would suffer a traumatic brain injury and forget the past 16 years of his life still doesn't prepare you for what's to come. This book breaks your heart into so many little pieces as you watch how deeply this affects every character.

Jackson is not only trying to heal physically but also mend relationships he doesn't fully remember. Kate is the glue holding the family together, while everyone else does their best to navigate such a heartbreaking situation. You really get to see the raw emotional honesty between Kate and Jackson, and let's not forget the kids' journey through it all.

I'm not going to lie. There were moments when it was hard to read because Jackson came across as a douche. But at the same time, he was simply being brutally honest and raw. He's someone who no longer knows who he is or the people surrounding him, and that made those moments feel understandable, even if they were frustrating.

All in all, I really enjoyed how everything was wrapped up. It was nice getting to see a handful of previous couples again, and despite all the bittersweet moments, it was still a fun and emotional read. This series definitely made me a fan, and I can't wait to see what this author writes next.

Bailey Hannah really looked at me, took my emotional stability, put it in a blender, hit purée, and then handed it back with a smile.

I went into this book slightly underprepared because I'd only read the first two books in the series. I'd been meaning to read books three and four forever, especially after getting the ARC for this one, but life had other plans. And if Love Wells Kept accomplished anything, it's convincing me that I need to drop everything and go back immediately because I clearly missed out on spending more time with this family.

This book absolutely wrecked me.

I genuinely mourned a love that technically still existed... it just no longer existed inside one person's memories. The fact that I was grieving something inside a fictional character's brain chemistry is honestly a little concerning.

The heartache was REAL.

And that's what Bailey Hannah does so incredibly well. She writes these huge, quiet loves. The kind that don't need grand speeches because they're built into every tiny act of devotion. This story isn't loud. It's devastating in the gentlest possible way.

Jackson's traumatic brain injury is handled with so much care and authenticity. Bailey doesn't romanticize it, doesn't magically fix it, and doesn't shy away from how ugly recovery can be. We see the anger. The confusion. The depression. The hopelessness. The frustration. The isolation. Through Jackson's POV you genuinely feel how terrifying it must be to wake up inside a life that everyone insists belongs to you while none of it feels familiar.

Imagine waking up married to the most beautiful woman you've ever seen... and feeling absolutely nothing because your brain simply won't let you remember her.

Imagine looking at your own children and having to pretend you know how to be their father while internally panicking every second.

Imagine everyone around you grieving someone who technically isn't dead... while you're standing right there.

It was painful in ways I wasn't expecting.

I've seen some people disappointed that Jackson never fully regains his memories, but honestly?

That made the story infinitely more beautiful to me. Because instead of getting his old love back...

He chose to fall in love with Kate all over again. He didn't remember loving her. He simply loved her again. And if that isn't proof that these two would find each other in every single universe, every timeline, every possible version of existence... I don't know what is.

Just...

Ugh.

I'm unwell.

I also appreciated how realistic Bailey kept everything. Not everyone with a traumatic brain injury suddenly remembers everything after a dramatic kiss or one convenient emotional breakthrough. Recovery isn't linear. Sometimes memories come back. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes people become different versions of themselves forever. Bailey clearly did the research, and Jackson feels so tangible because of it. Every adaptation, every setback, every tiny victory felt earned instead of manufactured.

The opening chapter absolutely destroyed me because we get to see Jackson before the accident. He's an incredible husband. An incredible father. He's completely obsessed with Kate and his kids. You get just enough of that beautiful life to understand exactly what everyone loses when the accident happens.

Then...

It's gone.

Kate loses the husband she knows. The kids lose their dad. Jackson loses... himself.

Watching him slowly learn how to exist inside this unfamiliar life was heartbreaking.

One of my absolute favorite parts was watching him intentionally rebuild his relationship with Kate. He notices something about her before he even understands what it is. He feels drawn to her. Safe with her. Like some tiny part of his heart remembers what his brain cannot.

Watching him consciously choose to court his own wife again...

I cannot even explain what that did to me.

The effort.

The devotion.

The way he genuinely wanted to become someone worthy of her.

Absolutely beautiful.

(Also... this version of Jackson has a FILTHY mouth.

Respectfully...

I was not complaining. 😌)

Then there's Kate Wells.

MY GOD.

Can we all just collectively agree to love Kate Wells forever?

Because I do.

This woman went through absolute hell. She's grieving the husband who's technically still alive. She's raising their children. She's helping Jackson navigate a life he doesn't remember. She's carrying the emotional weight of literally everyone around her.

AND THEN Bailey decided to casually throw a miscarriage into the mix because apparently my suffering wasn't complete yet.

My heart shattered for her.

What I loved most is that Bailey never turns Kate into some unrealistically perfect saint. She isn't endlessly patient. She isn't always strong.

She gets angry. She gets exhausted. She gets frustrated. She mourns the life they lost. She questions herself. She breaks. And then somehow finds the strength to keep going because her family needs her.

That's real strength.

Not pretending everything's okay but continuing even when nothing is okay.

Kate is genuinely one of my favorite FMCs I've ever read.

Honestly...

I want to be Kate Wells when I grow up.

I completely understand why Jackson falls in love with her again despite not remembering her.

Because I think every single one of us falls just a little bit in love with Kate too.

The relationships with the kids absolutely gutted me. Those moments took time to rebuild, and Bailey never rushed them. Every little breakthrough felt monumental because we'd watched them earn every inch back toward each other.

And then there's the Wells family.

One of my favorite parts of this series has always been the found family dynamic, and this book reminded me exactly why.

Nobody gives up on Jackson. Nobody lets Kate carry everything alone. Everyone rallies around them. Everyone fights for them.

The patience they show both Jackson and Kate added so much emotional depth to the story because no one is painted as the villain. Everyone is simply hurting in different ways.

This is healing that isn't neat. It isn't pretty. It isn't quick. It's messy. It's frustrating. It's heartbreaking.

But underneath all of it is this enormous foundation of love holding everyone together.

The flashbacks to Kate and Jackson's past were another highlight. Every glimpse of who they were before made their present simultaneously sweeter and more devastating. Every memory felt precious because we knew Jackson couldn't access them anymore.

And that epilogue...

Perfect.

It wrapped up the Wells Ranch series beautifully while still making me selfishly wish I could spend another ten books with this family.

Actually...

Can we PLEASE get a next-generation spin-off?

Bailey.

I'm begging.

Respectfully.

Please.

As for the audiobook, James Cassidy absolutely nailed Jackson. He brought so much vulnerability, frustration, tenderness, and emotion to the role that it elevated an already incredible story.

Samantha Cook, however... was a bit more mixed for me.

She wasn't bad by any means, but I'm still not the biggest fan of some of her narration quirks. It's the manufactured lisp, the added vocal fry, and especially the slight upward inflection at the end of nearly every sentence that pulls me out of the story. It's less pronounced here than in some of her previous work, thankfully, but it's still noticeable enough that I kept getting distracted. It doesn't quite sound like every sentence is a question, but it creates this odd rhythm that almost comes across like an exaggerated Boston accent, and unfortunately it's something I can't seem to tune out.

Overall though... This book absolutely broke me. It's heartbreaking without being manipulative. Hopeful without being unrealistic. Romantic without relying on convenient fixes. It's a story about choosing someone over and over again, even when everything has changed. About discovering that love isn't just memories—it's effort, patience, care, and devotion.

And maybe the most romantic thing Bailey Hannah could've written wasn't Jackson remembering Kate.

It was Jackson falling in love with her all over again.

Because if these two aren't proof that they'd find each other in every lifetime... I don't know who is.

ask me if i am in shambles over every single thing about this book (spoiler alert: the answer is yes) 😭.

i started this series in mid december of 2025, binge listened to them all pretty quickly and as i was finishing up book 3 i was just shouting to no one wondering why the hell kate and jackson didnt have a book and wondering if maybe they did and i missed the memo, to my greatest surprise and pleasure i found out they were getting one!! i have been literally gnawing at the gates of my enclosure since new year’s eve for this book and im SO happy to say that it ruined me in the BEST of ways!!

i quite honestly didnt know what to expect with this book, i really loved how hard fought this book was. i dont wanna go into specifics and ruin the experience for others but the way an easier route couldve been taken through out this book multiple times but bailey decided not to take them and went for hard fought/won love by the end of the book was *chefs kiss*. every single thing about this book was perfection!!

this book was the biggest emotional rollercoaster i’ve been on in awhile, prepare yourself for whiplash — i lost count of the amount of times i went from giggling and twirling my hair over something cute or sweet one second just to be ran over by a truck of emotions the next 😂.

this was such a beautiful way to wrap up a series, i am already plotting my next re-read of all of the books because i am just simply not reading to leave wells canyon yet. i cannot wait to see what bailey has up her sleeve next, i already knew this prior to LWK but bailey is 100% an auto buy/read author for me and i am just soooo ready to see where we go next!!

Loved the first 50% of this book! The storyline had me hooked from the start. Watching the accident unfold and then seeing Jackson and Kate navigate the struggles of starting over, while dealing with Jackson’s memory loss, was absolutely heartbreaking.

The last 25% lost me a little, as it felt like it became spice scene after spice scene, and I found myself missing the emotional depth that had me so invested in the first half.

I also would’ve loved an extended epilogue set 10 years into the future to see how much of Jackson’s memory had returned and where life had taken them.

Overall, though, I’m really happy with how this book wrapped up the series. 🤠

I was supposed to round it down but after the epilogue and acknowledgements I decided to round it up, at least for now.

This was a very emotional read for me, I think mainly because I am married and have kids so reading about Kate and Jackson’s journey felt relatable in a way. Just imagining this situation was a lot.
Amnesia trope is my no-go, I read it once or maybe twice and I simply know this trope is not my interest and I usually pass on such books even if the blurb sounds interesting otherwise or even if it’s by an author I like. Having said that, I made an exception for Hannah Bailey’s book and I have zero regrets. There is amnesia trope and there is amnesia trope, you know? A storyline when they’ve been together for years, have kids, and there is whole lot of family around makes the premise different than most books with this trope.

This was emotional journey and even though my heart was breaking at parts, it was very much what I expected from this book going in, hence such strong rating.
I must say the first 20-maybe 30% of the book have rather fast pacing, or more like good pacing, while the rest is rather slow. I believe not all readers will enjoy it, but I felt it very fitting with how recovery after such accident likely happens in real life. The recovery process is excruciating and doesn’t happen overnight and this is exactly how the pacing in the second half (a bit more than a half) felt like.

It was truly heartbreaking how Jackson didn’t remember Kate or their kids. Him finding back his love for Kate and feeling like a dad was quite emotional for me. Just to imagine such situations in real life is a lot.

This is a story about married couple finding their love back, dealing with potential spouse loss and long and slow recovery after near death experience and memory loss. If this is within your interest, this book is for you.

At the end I’m settling on 4.5⭐️ as my final rating but I’m rounding it up because:
-the pacing of the second half - it felt a bit slow but this is so fitting Jackson’s recovery process
-kids acting like kids - the siblings little arguments or them playing with mud is SO realistic and tbh I rarely see it in the books

And super bonus points for this book working as a standalone. Of course it’s always advised to read books in order but I personally pay a lot of attention if “interconnected standalones” really work as standalones and HOW other couples are written into main couple’s book/if you are missing any important context of main couple’s story because you skipped previous books and I can tell you this series is really well written when it comes to it.
I only read books 1, 4 and 5, still have to catch up with books 2 and 3, but I didn’t feel like I’m missing any important details or that other couples overshadowed main characters.

I added some of my highlights in reading updates so go check it out if you’re interested ;)

4.5 stars out of 5

This book is going to wreck you, in the most beautiful way possible.

For the first time, I’m kissing Kate. For the hundred thousandth time, she’s kissing me.

“Aren’t you going to answer?” I ask, when it becomes obvious he’s looking for a new question to ask. “Your favorite time of day …” “You probably know the answer.” I shake my head. A few months ago, I knew everything about my husband. And I’ve struggled to shake the notion that this man beside me is exactly the same person he was before. “In the morning, when I wake up and remember that you exist.”

I love Jackson & Kate’s story so so much.

It’s so hard saying goodbye to Wells Ranch 😭

3ish stars ⭐️

I’m not lying when I say I went into this peeing my pants a little. Partially because I was so excited (and let’s be honest, both honoured and proud) to be granted ARC access to this after reading and loving the entire series, but also because I was scared. Capital S-C-A-R-E-D. A little terrified, to be frank. And for good reason.

I spent the first 30% crying and being anxious because I’d loved Jackson and Kate in the previous books and despite it being a while and KNOWING this would be happening… It felt so, so wrong to be happening to them. Yet that’s also what makes this story real. Sixteen years and two kids together, BAM, all gone in the blink of an eye. Well, not gone-gone (and thank god for that because I wouldn’t have coped), but I can’t even imagine what having your partner, your best friend lose all memory of you and the life you share together in a freak, life-threatening accident would do to a person. Bailey Hannah, apparently, can though. And she made sure I felt it.

I really admired how she wrote Jackson’s POV and his inner struggle, wanting to remember and getting so frustrated with himself over both his physical recovery AND the mental part. I literally lost my mind (multiple times) over how his body recognised Kate as his safe space, his person even before his mind did. The fact that he couldn’t sleep without her scent????? Somebody sedate me. And Kate??? Jackson said it best. “God is a woman named Kate Wells.” She’s so strong, so fiercely loyal and loving, despite everything. I loved seeing these two fall in love with eachother all over again, and their story felt so real, so honest in the way Jackson’s recovery and the impact on their family was written.

That having been said, this book unfortunately wasn’t my favourite. I was invested in these characters and some parts were deeply emotional and romantic, yes, but the story itself lost me a little around the 60% mark. I had some issues with the pacing and the storyline actually keeping my attention. After all the trauma and the intense recovery in the beginning of the book, the slow build-up of tension and Jackson struggling with his role as a father to kids he doesn’t actually know, it kind of felt like the pacing got messed up and we had some unexplained time jumps (I think??) along the way because things were suddenly progressing a whoooole lot faster. Especially during the last 20%. You know I don’t shy away from spice but the way it was introduced in the story honestly just felt jarring to me. After all the trauma, it kind of took away from the story instead of adding to it, even if some of the scenes focus more on the emotional intimacy and the spice itself was fun.

I dunno, I’m conflicted. I was looking forward to reading about Kate and Jackson’s whole story and while I did read their ‘new’ story, I think I kind of missed the depth that would have come along with the old one. I missed the true foundation of their relationship and the focus on the kids in Jackson, and while I admire Kate’s strength, I would have loved to see her more of her vulnerability instead of just her perseverance and ability to push the pain aside.
Without spoiling too much, I think the ending is bittersweet. Both for our main characters, and the whole of the Wells Ranch series. It’s realistic, and it IS happy. It’s just not quite what I was personally hoping for. Aside from the end of this specific book, I’d have loved a whole gang together type of epilogue set a few years in the future. We did see the whole found family, yet I felt like only the brothers got a real spotlight and the rest was just there for show? It could be a case of me being nitpicky but it just felt a little empty, like it didn’t quite reach it’s potential. I think if I were rating purely the first half of the book, it’d be close to four stars. As it is, the best I can do is my signature three-ish; minus a quarter if I think of the second half too much, or plus a quarter when I remember how sweet these two are together.

Thank you, Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for the ARC!

Love Wells Kept was such an emotional read, and I found myself completely invested in Jackson and Kate’s story. I really liked that it focused on an already established marriage instead of a new romance. Watching them find their way back to each other after everything they’d been through made their relationship feel even more special. Seeing Jackson cycle through the wide range of emotions following his accident and the long term side effects was difficult but so well written

One of my favorite parts was seeing Jackson reconnect with his family as his memories slowly returned. Rediscovering his love for Kate and their children was incredibly moving, and those moments really stayed with me. The family relationships felt authentic, the romance was heartfelt, and the story was filled with hope. It’s a beautiful reminder that even when life changes everything, love can still find its way back. I really wish I could see this couple 10 years after the epilogue!

I have loved reading each book in this series so much. This was my first amnesia trope book, so I was a little wary going into it, but it definitely exceeded my expectations. While this one was not my favorite of series, it was still very emotional, but cute at the same time! I really enjoyed watching Jackson fall in love with Kate again, while also watching Kate fall in love with the “new Jackson”. The only reason this book did not get a 5⭐️ rating was I wanted more. More angst. More plot. More moments between Jackson and his kids/family. It also felt a little rushed at the end, but was still an overall enjoyable book that I would 100% recommend. I will say to make sure and read content warnings as this book does deal with heavy topics.

Thank you Dell Romance for the ARC

well frick 😭😭😭😭 i loved this!!!!

this was one of the most emotional cowboy romances i've ever read. like i cried multiple times 😭😩 but it was also so so perfect and fun. i have absolutely loved the wells ranch series and think bailey hannah writes some of the hottest, swoonworthy and emotional cowboy romances out there.
when i first read the synopsis for the final book in the series, i KNEW it was going to gut me. we've seen pieces of jackson and kate's epic love for one another throughout the entire series, so to finally get their book was so exciting!! to find out that jackson was going to lose his memory of kate and their kids ??? immediate tears 😭

and goodness bailey delivered an emotionally romantic story of them finding their way back to one another. SUCH a beautiful and raw take on an honestly very scary and tragic situation. i particularly loved the nuance of jackson's pov before the accident and after. you could TELL he had lost his memories because even that felt different.

i loved this book so much. i love jackson. i love kate. i love their kids. i love the way they both fought for each other. i genuinely keep thinking about this book & it's one that i will think about often. i've said it before & i'll say it again: more people need to read this series !!!!!!

thank you so much Dell Romance for the arc! this is my honest review.

Love Wells Kept by Bailey Hannah is the fifth and final installment in the Wells Ranch series.

What can you expect?
🤠 Small-town romance
🐎 Cowboy romance
💍 Married couple
🧠 Amnesia
💔 Angst
❤️‍🩹 “My wife”
🧠 Mental health & TBI representation
🌧️ Depression representation
🔥 Slow burn
⚠️ Check trigger warnings before reading.

4.5 ⭐ | 3 🌶️

This is the first book I've read with the amnesia trope. Bailey did an incredible job portraying amnesia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and mental health in a realistic way that made me appreciate the story. This is an angsty romance, and while I didn't cry, it made me feel every emotion right alongside the characters.

Jackson and Kate have been together for 16 years and have two children, Odessa and Rhett. Everything changes when Jackson suffers a traumatic accident that leaves him in a coma. When he wakes up, he doesn't recognize anyone, not his wife, not his children, not even himself. Imagine how devastating that would be for Kate: the man she's loved for years wakes up with no memory of who she is.

Through Jackson's POV, you truly feel how frustrating and debilitating his situation is. You see the emotional toll it takes on him, the impact on his mental health, and the challenges that come with navigating life after a traumatic brain injury. TBIs are incredibly complex, and Bailey doesn't shy away from showing the pain, frustration, and even the aggression that can sometimes accompany recovery.

I understand why some readers may have expected a different outcome, but what I loved most was how realistic Bailey kept the story. Not everyone with a TBI or amnesia returns to who they were before the injury within a few months. Recovery can take months, years, or sometimes never fully happen. As someone with a medical background, I really appreciated how authentically she handled Jackson's journey. If you're looking for a story with a quick, complete recovery, this may not be the book for you.

Kate was such a strong, resilient woman. I've loved her character throughout the series, but this book made me admire her even more. She was determined to keep everything together and never abandoned Jackson, even when things became incredibly difficult. You'll see how deeply his injury affects every aspect of her life, yet she continues to show up for him and their family. She misses her husband, feels frustrated, and struggles with the reality of their situation, but she never gives up on him.

Having children made everything even more heartbreaking. Because Jackson didn't recognize them, he couldn't immediately feel that fatherly connection. He didn't feel like their dad, and that's what made this story feel so real. You can't force memories or emotions for people you don't remember.

I also loved seeing Jackson reconnect with his brothers and his dad. The entire family rallied around him, and it was heartwarming to watch them support both him and Kate through such a difficult time.

As Jackson slowly begins therapy and starts accepting his new reality, he makes a genuine effort to be present for Kate and the kids. Watching him piece together fragments of his memories and intentionally fall in love with his wife all over again was beautiful. The effort he put into rebuilding their relationship was one of my favorite parts of the story. And yes, this version of Jackson definitely has a dirty mouth, and I was not complaining. 😏

His relationships with the kids take time to rebuild, and those moments were some of the most emotional in the book. Odessa, being the oldest, struggled the most because she missed the father she remembered. Rhett was younger, but rebuilding that connection wasn't easy either. Jackson truly did his best to be there for them and regain their trust. And can we talk about Odessa? She was such a wild child, but I absolutely loved her personality.

We also got to see more of Kate and Jackson's history throughout the story, which I really enjoyed. The epilogue was incredibly sweet, and although I'd love to see more of them in the future, it wrapped up the series beautifully. It was a bittersweet ending, but a satisfying one, and I can't wait to see what Bailey Hannah writes next.

Thank you, NetGalley, & Dell for the advance copy of this book!

This. THIS. THIS THIS THIS.

This is the million star, perfect, absolute gem of a romance that I’ve been searching for this year.

As the fifth and final book of the beloved Wells Ranch series, Love Wells Kept gave me everything and more. While I’d say the other books *could* be read as standalones, this treat really needs to be saved for last. Jackson and Kate have been every couple’s “North Star” as to what love looks like. They’re everyone’s example of the marriage you strive for, having been together for sixteen years and having two young kids together. To fully appreciate this one, I recommend reading it last.

Tragedy strikes, and it strikes hard. I cried so much. Literally at over ten different parts. This story is tough but it is so worth the struggle.

✨ memory loss
✨ marriage in crisis
✨ found family

💚 “But is there ever such a thing as fully preparing yourself for the loss of your soulmate?”
💚 “Jackson Wells is still my person. Forever. And I need him.”
💚 “It’s fine. If he doesn’t remember falling in love with me, I’ll start over.”

I remember when Bailey first announced the final book in the Wells Ranch series was going to be Kate and Jackson’s, but then finding out Jackson was going to have amnesia? I knew I was going to get emotionally wrecked. Before this I don’t think I’ve ever read an amnesia trope book and if I did, well I’ve forgotten. But this book right here? It has set the bar and far exceeded any expectations I had of it. I knew going into this that I was going to need all the tissues but y’all, I don’t think I’ve ever cried as much and as hard as I did with this one. I honestly had to take so many breaks because I couldn’t read through all the tears.

When a horrible accident causes Jackson to lose his memory, Kate is there to pick up all the pieces. Dealing with Jackson’s brain injury, the two of them navigating their relationship, taking care of the family and just everything this book took us through, Bailey handled it with so much care and love and it shows. It was heartbreakingly beautiful and made me ugly cry like no other, but also made me smile and hope and filled my heart immensely. We saw throughout the series how much Kate and Jackson loved each other, but seeing how they stayed by each other’s side and how their love persevered through it all? It was a beautiful and just thinking about it is making me emotional all over again.

“𝘐 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥—𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺—𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯.”

It’s bittersweet to be saying goodbye but my god was this an absolutely emotional and perfect end to an incredible series. To Wells Ranch 💜❤️💙💚🧡

Thank you Bailey for this series and thank you so, so much to Dell for an arc. I am eternally grateful 🫶

WOW! Fantastic. I don’t cry easy when it comes to books but this one got me. I love Kate & Jackson so much. The emotion behind each page was insane. It felt so real and raw. I actually usually hate an amnesia storyline but for Bailey Hannah, I’ll read anything. AND I LOVED THIS. She did it so much justice. One of my favorite reads of the year, easily!

3.5 stars? Guys, im also surprised by this rating but I think I had hyped this up too much and was slightly disappointed. The pacing felt soooo slow and the ending didn’t really wrap everything up? Nonetheless, a great read and beautiful story <3

What an absolutely fantastic way to finish out this series! I think this was my favorite of the series. I LOVED learning about Kate and Jackson and being a part of them falling in love again. I always felt like they were such a staple in the other books- helping at the ranch and being a symbol for what the other couples looked at in regard to the perfect marriage. I want to be clear this book hit HARD- Kate is just one of the strongest women. She had to hold it all together for her kids while her soulmate looked at her as if she were a stranger. She went through some HARD things- I would recommend checking the TW before diving into this one. Watching her lose her footing with Jackson broke my heart. She didn't know how to navigate this situation, and Jackson was so so confused and scared. But then he started making an effort. He started TRYING, and him wooing Kate and treating her like the queen she is was just CHEF'S KISS. These two had to crawl and claw to get back to each other in one piece. I appreciated how not only were they back together but they had come out on the other side of this tragedy stronger for it.

Kate can't believe this is her life right now. Just this morning she was trying to squeeze in some alone time with her husband of 15 years and now Jackson is in a coma. He save their daughter- which of course he did. But she doesn't know how to survive without him. And now he has woken up and has lost a lot of his memory- including her and their children. Their life. Everything they have built- he doesn't know who she is anymore. But Kate is nothing but determined to bring him back. To help him remember what they had. She gives him space while trying to show him how much he belongs. How much he is the glue of their family. How he kills it at bedtime. She can't help but be terrified. This can't be their new normal, but then she starts to see glimpses of her Jackson. She starts to have hope. Which is crushed when he opens up about his fears and how he is feeling. She feels adrift. She feels untethered. But then something must click with Jackson because he starts TRYING. He wants to learn them again. She realizes that she has always loved this man even this new version. The one who takes the weekend off to reconnect. The one who talks dirty to her in bed and has new tricks up his sleeve. The one who showers her with little gifts and doesn't want to take what they have for granted. She knew it would take a second but realizes she would have waited forever for him to come back to her. He is her person.

Jackson is off to take his daughter to get her first horse. How is she growing so fast? When tragedy strikes. He wakes up in a bed with a beautiful woman claiming to be his wife. She claims they have two kids together and that they run the ranch. The ranch he last remembers is where his family lives- family being mom, dad and his two brothers. He can't remember anything else. Though he does feel a pull towards his wife, Kate. He is terrified of how to do this. How is he supposed to love people, kids he doesn't remember. How is supposed to function when he has headaches all the time and feels like he is letting people down. But his family isn't giving up on him. They keep pulling him out of the dark and back into the light. Into their love. They keep showing him who he was to them. Who he IS to them. Especially Kate. He is in awe of all that she does. He wants to connect with her in all ways but also doesn't want to do anything with her until he FEELS the connection. He knows he is hurting her, but he is being honest with her and himself. But then something seems to click and he realizes that he can do this. He needs to stop being in his head and start making more of an effort. Which is how he ends up on a weekend date with his wife. Wanting to finally connect in all ways and know what it means for her to be his wife. He realizes that he truly does love her. He loves how dedicated she is to him and his family. How determined. How desperately she wants to be HIS again. He is ridiculously lucky to have this and he is going to do everything he can to hold onto it. Including not taking this life or this love for granted.

Once Jackson came around to it, he was so so devoted. I loved how he was him but like an upgraded version. He wanted to celebrate everything. He was almost more enthusiastic about it all because to him he was on month like 4 while Kate was on year 15. Their reconnection was EVERYTHING. And OMG Jackson in bed was SOMETHING let me tell you. Even Kate was like well this is new- and I'm not mad about it LOL. This family and this ranch are just so so wonderful! I can't recommend them enough :) Bailey has become a go to author for me, and I can't wait to read more in this world.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

“That's what hearts do when they love someone — they remember."

I wish I could give this book 10 stars. I loved it so so much, even if it did make me cry. Although a part of me was expecting a prequel love story for Kate and Jackson, this one was even more meaningful. It really is true, when your hearts love someone they do remember. This is something I experienced with my grandmother who had dementia. She always remembered me. We had a bond unlike any other.

I loved this book. It was like refinding family, and relearning your love for them. This book goes over traumatic brain injuries and recovery, miscarriage, and a few other possible triggers.. but it is a wholesome read, and I loved every bit of it.
