I don’t think I could walk into a church without bursting into flames after reading that. I will never be the same. But like I did in fact have a good time? I think? i should've remained wary of foster sibling romance after the shitshow that happened in the edge of darkness trilogy, but i never learn my lesson. this book is proof that good writing is just as important as a good story because, seriously this was so weird and disgusting.
i still cry over that trilogy because i lovedd it and wanted to read more from the author because HOW BAD CAN THIS BE? i swear if you're hesitant to read it after seeing mixed reviews, please stay that way. this is way too incestuous and trash.
and i don't know why it only applies to biological siblings and not to siblings who've lived with each other for more than 11 years. like does the feelings not count?

i thought olivia would resist till the end and there’d be some type of weird relationship between them since the start, but NO! it literally wasn’t like that, and they actually had such a good bond as kids, even though malachi claimed her as "MINE" when he was 8 year old! 🤡
i'm not kidding, she was level 10 horny. it was so gross reading their oral scenes that were labelled as 'lessons.' she's the whiniest, pathetic character i've ever read. she said things like,
'we can't do this, we are brother and sister'
And the next second, she’s putting his fingers on her 🐱 and telling him, 'I'll give you another lesson, girls like it.' FUCKKK EW.
“I’m scared that if we keep doing this, I’ll start falling for you. And we… me and you… it’s impossible.”

the thing is that this book does not make sense at all. forget about the dark, taboo stuff and whatnot - THE STORY DOES NOT MAKE SENSE AT ALL.
i read the book till the end just so i could reach a point where i'll go "oh, so this is what the entire book was leading us towards" but such a part doesn't exist.
(spoilers for the entire book)
basically our fmc (olivia) and mmc (malachi whose name i pronounced as malachee and laughed to myself till the 60% mark, at which point i found out it was mala-kai) are foster brother/sister who are obsessed with e/o and malachee claims olivia as "mine" at 8 years old 🤡
they start doing normal brother sister stuff with each other like kissing and sleeping together and oral sex and blowjobs etc. near the 16-19 age (i forgot the exact age).
the entire time during this, idk who the fmc is gaslighting - herself or the audience or malachee - but she's so fucking annoying because she's apparently "teaching" her brother how to "please girls" which is why they're doing all this.
literally normal. every girl needs to do this for her brother fr ☝🏻🤓
everytime they do something, after she goes "okay, now you know this. so i don't need to teach you anymore. i'm your sister. other sisters don't teach their brothers 🤭🤭🤭"

so he comes up the stairs and sees all this happening 😭😭😭 i had to close the book from second hand embarrassment. and then - if that wasn't enough, they keep doing that (malachee eating olivia out) WHILE THE DAD IS STANDING NEAR THE DOOR 🤠
i was crying at that point.
and when the dad tries to pull him away, malachee keeps his grip on her AND KEEPS DOING IT. pls i was laughing so fucking hard wtf.
when the dad finally pulls him away, malachee spits on his face (what did he spit? the yummy stuff he was eating two seconds ago). he then flexes to the dad that your daughter is delicious but she is mine and not yours and dad is like "you're so disgusting". thankyou dad 😭👍🏻
then malachee throws the dad down the stairs. and dad's heartbeat is decreasing by the minute, he's bleeding, but they start doing the devil's tango with each other WHILE THE DAD IS DYING 😭😭😭😭✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻 altho she calls the cops and hospital after they have sex though so it's fine guys. sex is more important that dad dying.
malachee's reason for doing all this being: the dad interrupted his meal 🤭😋 (his words not mine)
LIKE WHAT IS GOING ON? nothing makes a lick of sense.
fast forward, malachee has to spend 8 years in jail cause of this. he hates olivia cause she testified against him but is still obsessed and wants to bang her. he gets out of jail but doesn't meet olivia cause she's a lying, cheating whore and he wants revenge 😋👹
he has cameras everywhere she goes, has sex with her while she's drugged and sleeping but it's fine cause she wrote in her diary that she wants this 👍🏻, he captures her as a masked man la di dah, lots of smut smut smut (this is where we have the wonderful screwdriver play and the spider play. an extremely icky part in my opinion. i fucking hate spiders. and the screwdriver pls 😭🤡 malachee puts the screwdriver in olivia's ahh 👹🤠 pls that must've hurt sm wtf i can't). she then finds out who he is.
but then comes the second funniest part: they have sex (after she finds out that the masked guy who captured her is her "big brother"), he confesses he's in love with her, and oh my god please this man was so pathetic i cannot with him.
hoe, she literally sent you to jail and is the most selfish person known to mankind, are you being fr? 😭✋🏻 she tells him "i don't love you" and leaves him. the embarrassment i felt for malachee knows no bounds 👹🧍🏻♀️
then we get our epilogue, where on her literal wedding day, olivia suddenly tells her dad i love malachee, and dad who uses a wheelchair and walking stick because of malachee says to her to go live her dreams and mom is just like oh wtv 🥂 while olivia runs away to malachee.

⟡ this was quite literally the worst piece of literature that i've ever read. the people of booktok were, of course, RAVINGGG about this one. for what reason, i can't even tell you. i'm not even going to try and sugar coat this, so if you're allergic to hate then this review isn't for you.
⟡ genuinely how did ANYONE enjoy this book?! to preface, it's pretty obvious that this book was made for people with a brother-sister kink.🥴 the two main characters are foster siblings, and as they are getting freaky they are calling each other "little sister" and "big brother". FUCK NOOO.
⟡ there's a scene where their dad falls down the stairs and is lying down, bleeding and unconcious. and instead of doing the right thing (AKA calling the cops??) they decide to have sex over his dying body. her head literally on her dad's chest, listening to his heartbeat slowing, while the mmc pounding her from behind. ARE WE OKAY HERE? we've genuinely lost the plot bc i don't think i've ever read something so repulsive in my life. 😭
⟡ the mmc isn't even "dark + brooding", he's just fucking psycho. a guy from her calc class started talking to her in the gas station, and he just slammed his head against the wall until he fell to the group bleeding. also the scene, like i mentioned, where he's eating his sister out and the dad walks in, shouting. and when the dad tries to stop his SON from pleasuring his DAUGHTER, the mmc tries to kill him. that is absolutely DIABOLICAL.
⟡ and ahh, of course, the infamous screwdriver scene. booktok loved the gun scene from haunting adeline, so this author decided to take it a step further and have the mmc shove a screwdriver up her ass. first of all, that sounds painful, and second of all, how is that supposed to be hot.
⟡ if i'm being completely honest, these characters are perfect for each other. both of them are as equally fucked up and weird as the other one. there's a scene when he drugs her, and rapes her while she's unconcious. but she liked it? so apparently its supposed to be attractive. idek anymore, they can have each other for all i care.
⟡ i'm so happy to say i'm freed of this horrific expierence. remind me to never trust booktok's dark romance recs again😭

Oh wow.. THIS BOOK! I think I've seen it all now. The forbidden taboo siblings romance? FOSTER siblings (not blood related) romance. Olivia and Malachi are a twisted and deranged pair. I’m not sure if I should be scared FOR them or scared OF them.. In Part 1 it feels like a softcore porn written out, still somewhat innocent. But Part 2? ALL. HELL. BREAK. LOOSE. Crazy shits happened, things get absolutely wild and there's no clean way to describe it. I kept repeating not real siblings probably a thousand times in my head while reading this.. but the constant reminder with phrases like "I’m your brother/I’m your sister" made it IMPOSSIBLE to ignore. Malachi is.. something else, his inner monologues made me laughed. And Olivia, I hated her for a bit. The fact that I finished reading this in one day made me question my.. sanity? and tolerance to this kind of story. If you're looking to read mindless smutty book with basically 0% plot. Go ahead, this one is for you. Its a quick read, no OTT drama, everything is a straightforward MESS. I had that "What the f*ck did I just read?" moment, but I’m curious to see how their relationship handles the chaos THEY created. And the ending? It didn’t disappoint. Do I love it? Yes. I'm easily entertained and probably sick in the head, I enjoyed this wayy too much.
