Tiger: A Biography of Tiger Woods

Rate this book
Appearing within months of golfing sensation Tiger Woods's record-shattering win at the Masters, this appreciative portrait benefits from the author's friendship with the Woods family. (California-based sports journalist John Strege has been covering the 21-year-old golfer since he was 14.) Tiger comes across as genuinely nice and capable of being just one of the guys, despite the astonishing abilities already evident when he first swung a cut-down golf club as a 9-month-old toddler. Strege's snappy prose captures the excitement Woods has brought to a sport most Americans used to consider dull.

I gave this book four stars because it is a well-written and documented book about Tiger Woods before the 2000s. This book goes considerably in depth about Tiger as a young prodigy and works up to him being one of the if not the greatest golfer of all time. I liked the detail of the book and how it mentioned Tiger's young life but I felt it stayed on that chapter of his life for a bit too long.
I enjoyed the overall pacing of this biography as it takes certain tournaments and describes the highs and lows of each crucial one. I would enjoy this book more if it was written later and talked about his scandal, but that is something that hadn't happened at the time this was published. All in all this book is amazing about the decorated and influential life of Tiger Woods.

This book was pretty good overall except if you don’t really know golf lingo then you might get a little confused. I got a little confused because it talked about getting under par and getting an eagle or bougie. But the book also talked about how he persevered through the hard times and how he dealt with mean comments. Also how he succeeded and how he was determined. Overall, not a 5 star book but would recommend to biography readers! I had to read it for an assignment for English.

I’m currently reading Tiger Woods by: John Strence. This book is about the golfer Tiger Woods. This book is about his life and how he became a professional golfer, and how he accomplished this achievement. This also talks about his life and what he did during it and how he became so good at golfing. This book was written about his life and how he built up to become a golfer; from when he started to win his first couple trophies when he was eight to now when he is one of the best players in the PGA. In this book Tiger woods begins to play golf and turns out to be very skilled. He continues to take this sport on and finally won his first PGA win. I think this book is excellent so far because it really shows the hard work and dedication Tiger Woods went through to get to the top. I also really like this book because I enjoy playing golf and it is one of my favorite sports to play. This book is full of thing that many of us probably didn’t know, well at least I didn’t. I think that if you are interested in golf or known some things about Tiger Woods you should read this book. I think that this book really opens your mind to a new sport and how hard it is to play it, and how Tiger Woods had to work through the challenges of becomes a pro. I suggest this book to people who like biographies because this is one. If you haven’t read any biographies I recommend trying this one because it is very interesting to learn about a true life story and events. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
