They were soldiers forged in fire… then betrayed and each of them left for dead.
Rhett Kane built his Montana fortress to keep the world out. Colton Stryker tried to drown his demons at the bottom of a bottle. Alex Mercer turned the wilderness into his personal war zone. Dylan Rourke carries the scars of every life he was ordered to take.
Each man was abandoned by the very government they bled for. Each man should already be dead.
But when a shadow organization begins hunting these forgotten heroes, fate brings them together. Bound by brotherhood, haunted by the past, and armed with nothing but their skills and a code of honor, these broken warriors ignite the spark of something the Committee never saw Echo Ridge.
A sanctuary. A brotherhood. A war.
This prequel introduces the Men of Echo Ridge. A series where danger runs high, bonds run deep, and every hero will risk everything for the woman meant for him.

As prequels to a series go,this one made an impression on me. The introduction of the men of Echo Ridge is well done. Their background well described, and the danger to all of their lives clearly explained. Wonder who else is going to join this group, and how they’ll manage to deal with the threats. Look forward to hearing more,i can tell you that much.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I didn't know what to expect from the prequel other than reading the description. I had no idea that I would be so completely engaged in their story. It was a short, fast paced read that was full of suspense, danger, intrigue, and action. I had a number of questions, but I expect they will be answered as the stories unfold.
I enjoyed reading about each main character. I was going to say I enjoyed reading about one more than another, but realized that wasn't quite true. Kane, Stryker, Mercer, and Rourke bring enough uniqueness to the party that they were all entertaining. Finding out more about the secondary characters should also prove to be interesting.
I don't know what is to come in this series, but I would definitely recommend this book as a taste of what's possibly to come.
BROTHERHOOD OF THE BETRAYED—FROM HUNTED TO HUNTERS
This is a prequel set up for a new series with multiple books to be released. It will introduce the reader to the men and women involved, what they are up against, and will pick up more with the first book, Echo: Burn: A Military Romantic Suspense, to be released in October 2025.
The Men of Echo Ridge is a series involving good versus evil. It is soldiers who have been through the fires of hell to protect freedom against evil on foreign soils. Now, these heroes are being targeted on American soil by the very forces that commanded them on the battlefield. They have heard of their comrades being eradicated, and it is time to fight back. Time to find those called The Committee, who are evil by cutting off the head of the snakes. Rather than sitting, watching, and waiting, they are going to take action. Meet Rhett Kane, Colton Stryker, Dutch, Alex Mercer, Dylan Rourke, and more—some former military, and some civilians.
Rhett Kane will get word that they have found Colton Stryker and that he needs help. So Kane loads up gear and heads to find Stryker and rescue him—first from himself, and then from the enemy. Kane will reach out to Dutch.
“Not leaving you, brother. Not happening.”
“Dutch understands the economics of loyalty—some debts can’t be measured in money, only in the willingness to answer when brotherhood calls.”
“Let’s stop running with paperwork and start hunting with purpose.”
“The cave system stretches deep into the mountain. Mercer found it two days ago—natural chambers connected by narrow passages, multiple exits, defensible approaches. Our new Echo Base, carved from stone instead of stolen from civilization."
“Failure isn’t an option. If Echo Ridge survives, none of us.”—General Marcus Webb, Committee briefing
For a prequel this really packed a detailed introduction of the MMCs, Kane, Stryker, Mercer, Rourke and Tommy, trained killers for their country. A brotherhood forged in abandonment, violence and ruthless betrayals, hunted by those they trusted. It gave them new purpose to be the hunters not the hunted, shared understanding, not just being severely damaged, expandable operatives. In order not to become monsters they needed rules, lines not to be crossed and the "Echo Ridge Creed" became their motto /oath. Then there's Victoria Cross who put purpose on their path, Sarah Andrews, an analyst heavily wounded when she stumbled onto the Committee - "Architect" of cleaning house (aka killing of all unwanted operatives) and the 15yr Khalid rescued by Rourke. Last, but definitely not least, we meet Willa and her dog Odin who came into the fold being on the hitlist as well, who saved Kane. This is definitely a fascinating into a promising new series. I was totally engrossed. Thank you Delta for the complimentary copy and I leave this review voluntary.
Be still my heart! This prequel is totally kick ass! This one steals your heart away while having you turn the pages faster and faster!! An intense descriptive prequel to the upcoming series of ‘The Men of Echo Ridge’.
An engaging storyline introducing these strong, capable, dangerous men who would fight for everything they believed to be good and right. Now working together against the same organization who employed them, betrayed them with lies and now want to destroy every one of them.
Lots of action, lots of twists, some that pull at your heart but overall family and a bond of a brotherhood in these heroes who work to save the innocent and destroy evil.
WOW! What an amazing entertaining start to a new series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Men of Echo Ridge series will grab you from the beginning and you will be unable to put this book down. This prequel is just the beginning and the suspense, action, and betrayal, brotherhood and loyalty will hurt your soul and heal it at the same time. These men have fought and bled for their country and been betrayed but still believe in the fight for justice and the innocent. They see the true evil in the world no matter what side, government or uniform they wear and they will bring them down by themselves if necessary. This series is going to be amazing cannot wait.
Great start to a new series! It’s nice when there is a solid set-up. You can really get a handle on what the main characters are like, how they’re different. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. Military operatives who’ve decided they can no longer follow evil orders, given not to protect innocents but to destroy evidence, including witnesses, of wrongdoing. These men have morals and standards and have decided they are ready to fight back. Lots of action, good brotherhood building.
I received a free Advance Review Copy and this is my voluntary review.
The introduction to the men of Echo Ridge, how they came together and where they carved their headquarters. As a stickler for rules it was with gladness to read that this was one of the first tasks they undertook. Their creed for the group and towards their strategy for the future. We are introduced to Willa who becomes the target on their first mission against The Committee. An exciting start to the series and after reading book 1 first (not the normal for me), it was good to see how they came together and how they fit into the group.
I couldn’t wait for the second book in this series and I wasn’t disappointed. The action never stops and Delta drops surprises throughout the book. You won’t want to put it down till you finish and then want to start on the next one in the series! But you have to wait till it is available…. But Delta never disappoints and it will be worth the wait.
Echo Spark is a prequel to the Men of Echo Ridge series, introducing the MMCs of the comimg books. As always, the action and suspense are very entertaining, but there were gaps in the background info and at times it actually read like a sequel. Having read the first full-length book, I was also surprised that the men's histories established here had changed. So this is not really setting the scene, just whetting the appetite.
This prequel contains the spark that starts the series, introducing the men and women who have formed to fight a corrupt organization. It has action, alliances, and the emotions of hard men who have hit a tipping point t in their service and decide justice for innocents will be their rallying cry. It is a great lead in to what promises to be an action packed series!
This story has danger for our military and how some of our generals and higher ups are Destroying villages with all the people because they're corrupt and taking money Destroying Other countries, taking children to work in their mine's and how are retired military members put together a team to take out the bad guys
A great story: burnt operators against the 'Committee'.
I would have given 5 stars but there was detail missing e.g. Sarah arriving and then getting shot. If I am expected to read between the lines then the first book Echo - Burn will be my last.
This was a well written prequel to what I think will be a very exciting series. I loved the intense action throughout. Also the introduction of each of the Echo Ridge team. What they went through and how they became a brotherhood, not for vengeance but for justice. I liked each of the team members. can't wait to read the next story.
This prequel lives up to the series name by introducing the individuals that comprise the Men of Echo Ridge team. It lays a foundation for their commitment to each other and country. It does not add romance to the danger and intrigue. I love Delta’s work and I’m off to see how Book 2 measures up. I’m excited to see each man find love, solve the mystery and perhaps even be awarded a purple heart.
Betrayed by their own for their service. Hunted and killed by their former operator they have made a vow to protect the innocent and end those who put money and power above all else. A great start to the series.
This is an introduction of the new Men Of Echo Ridge series by Delta James. Former betrayed military turned protectors. Each man had a background story, giving his why.
I think this next series is going to be excellent!
This was a great prequel to learn about the courageous military men of Echo Ridge. We are shown what happened to them that brought them together as a focused group
Delta effectively connects people, though there seems to be some inconsistency with Sarah's last name, shifting from Andrews to Mitchell. Despite this minor discrepancy, the overall experience was positive.
This was a great little intro to each of the team. A little background and character check! I am certain having read this first; I will be able to jump right into each book in the series without a lot of rehash (I hope).
An addictive prequel to what looks to be a high octane series. I love suspenseful military romances and can’t wait to dive into the full length books featuring the characters introduced in this novella.
This is a series prequel, it has over the top action and suspense. The characters are interesting and there will be romance, I can't wait for the first book.
This prequel nicely sets the stage for the following books in this series. It promises action, suspense and romance - who could ask for more? I can't wait!
