By Sterling M. McMurrin, Ph.D. 32 pages. Book measures about 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" X 1/4'. Inside boards and all pages yellowing with age, some light foxing. On the last page is this The Philosophical Foundations of Mormon Theology is the first in a series of short monographs on the subject of the Mormon religion by Sterling M. McMurrin to be published by the University of Utah Press. The second is tentatively titled Theological Foundations of the Mormon Religion.
A brief, brilliant overview of the philosophical basics that act as foundation for Mormonism. My two criticisms, be they minor, are that 1) the strong focus on metaphysics leaves little rooms for important fundamental questions of epistemology, which are critical to Mormon thought; and 2) some of the analysis is almost too brief. Both issues, however, are minor considering the density of information and slimness of the text. As a 30-page read, this couldn't be much better. I would highly recommend to anyone who wishes to get a comparative understanding of philosophy as seen specifically by Mormons.
