The deserted estate in remote northwestern Maine might have seemed foreboding, but it would be a refuge for Paloma St. John. There, she would be alone with her only friends - the gentle animals she'd rescued from her own uncle's cruel scientific experiments.
But Paloma wasn't alone. There was a presence in the woods beyond the compound gates, a presence that reached into her mind, invaded her every thought, left her trembling with fear...and something more. Passion.
Was he protector - or predator? Savage or savior? Whispers in her thoughts and dreams courted her in another realm, while the voice of her heart beckoned him forward. And so Paloma waited, with longing - and with dread...
In a remote and desolate estate in northwestern Maine, Paloma St. John seeks refuge from a troubling past. The estate may appear foreboding, but for Paloma, it becomes a sanctuary where she can find solace and companionship with the gentle animals she has rescued from her own uncle's cruel scientific experiments.
However, Paloma is not truly alone in this isolated place. She senses a mysterious presence lurking in the surrounding woods, a presence that goes beyond the physical realm and seems to infiltrate her mind, invading her thoughts and emotions. This presence fills her with a sense of fear, but also something deeper and more passionate.
As Paloma grapples with this enigmatic presence, she questions whether it is a protector or a predator, a savage force or a savior. Whispers in her thoughts and dreams connect her to another realm, while her heart's desire calls out to this mysterious entity. In a state of longing and trepidation, Paloma waits, uncertain of what awaits her.
The chemistry between the characters in this book was simply electric. From the moment they first crossed paths, there was an undeniable spark that leaped off the pages. Their interactions were charged with tension and desire, making every encounter between them sizzle with anticipation.
This novella is like no other I have ever read. It is so poignantly written, so beautiful in the reluctant romance between the hero and heroine, I honestly never wanted it to end!
Highly recommend for those that love Beauty & the Beast stories.
Well. This was weird. I honestly have no words. Fair warning - the man on the cover looks NOTHING like our hero is described. Not that he's really ever described. Ever. The author even sayd he "defies description". Cop-out much?
I can't say I hated it, but it was reminiscent of the Twilight series but not nearly as good. And there were some definitely inappropriate scenes. I can't say I'd recommend it.
