I discovered this book at our local library and I found it to be a useful reference for places to visit in the surrounding area. I really like that the book did not limit it's reach to just the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, but included places as far north as Baltimore and as far west as Shenandoah.

The narrative has short entries for each location, with information about opening hours, costs, and the appropriate age level for the site. I liked that the information is broken up into topics and cross-referenced in the back of the book. It's certainly a handy guide and I'm sure I will borrow this book again in the future.

I don't "read" this book per se - it's more like a guide I use throughout the summer to find cool places to take my kids. If you're in the DC/MD/VA/PA area and have kids (any age), this is a wonderful resource. I use it every summer.

Fine to use if traveling to D.C. I think I could find something more handy...but not bad.
