Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent nearly a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love: writing. When she’s not lost in her own made up worlds, she’s probably either reading or shopping—maybe even both at once. She lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it's mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible. PHEWWWW give me a good marriage of convenience and I’m already seated. But add in a guy who’s secretly been obsessed for years and suddenly has permission to call her his wife???? Yeah… I was sold instantly ✋🏼😌
What starts as a practical, mutually beneficial arrangement quickly turns into something messier, warmer, and way more dangerous to the heart. Living together. Sharing a bed. Playing pretend for so long that the lines blur until no one remembers where they were supposed to stop crossing them… or if they even want to. 🫣🫣
Lincoln absolutely stole the show for me. His care is quiet but relentless. No nonsense, no asking permission, just showing up. 🙌🏼 He sees how Willa carries everything on her own and decides that she doesn’t get to do that alone anymore, even if she fights him on it. I loved how patient he was, how he let her be stubborn and independent while still making sure she was fed, safe, and supported. Watching that slowly break through her exterior was incredibly satisfying.
And Willa, I really admired her. 🫶🏼🫶🏼 Her dedication to keeping the family farm afloat and her refusal to burden anyone else felt painfully real. I loved watching her learn that letting people help doesn’t mean weakness and that trusting someone enough to share the load is its own kind of strength.
Also, the fact that Lincoln had basically been waiting for an excuse to take care of her was the SWEETEST THING EVER. 🤭🤭🤭 He was ready to do anything and everything for her the second the opportunity appeared.
I will say, the endearment “wife” was used a bit too much for me. I started to feel burnt out on it, and it occasionally pulled me out of the moment. It leaned a little cringe and over the top 🥲🥲 BUT to be fair… for a man who’s been pining forever and finally gets to call her his, I get it 🤷🏼♀️
This is the second book I’ve read in this series, and I’ve loved both.👏🏼 I’m officially invested and really hoping for some enemies to lovers energy in what I’m crossing my fingers is the next and final Steele brother story. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

i read the grump next door earlier this year and loved it so i can’t wait for this one!! 😝🩷 best friend’s sister???? marriage of convenience???? count. me. IN.
I absolutely loved this book. I thought it was hilarious and had so much amazing banter. I also appreciated that Willa’s character really struggles with chronic pain as so many women do and don’t talk about it. I think many will find her hyper independence and struggle relatable.
I believed in these characters with my whole heart and the narration was perfection. Probably the best I’ve ever heard Savannah Peachwood and JF Harding was an excellent “jackass”. (ALC)
Audio by Savannah Peachwood & JF Harding was perfect for these characters!! I loved these two together!
Book 3 in the Steele Brothers of Starlight Cove & I was obsessed with Lincoln & Willa!!
Black cat/ Golden Retriever, Brother’s Best friend, marriage of convenience 🙌🏻 yes please!!!
The banter/tension between Lincoln & Willa was top tier! Once the fake marriage hits, things definitely heat up!! This one had me laughing, swooning, and absolutely falling in love with these two!! The way Lincoln was ready to do anything for her & the way these two tried so hard to fight the connection, just made this one so much better!!
I absolutely loved the added chronic pain aspect of this one. As someone who can relate to the topic, it definitely made me feel seen & brought added emotion and strength to Willa’s character!! Truly a fantastic read by Brighton!!
i don’t think it’s a secret how much i love brighton’s books and how im down for anything she writes; however, after the set up for this book at the end of the previous one, i couldn’t wait to get my greedy eyeballs on the story.
i love love love willa and lincoln. she’s all crunchy and grumpy on the outside, total gooey center. he’s all charm, loyalty, and straight pining like a MFer. i adored reading these two with their flirting disguised as button pushing, open conversations, and so much UST you could choke on it. of course, this group of characters is a lot of fun, especially when the brothers are all together.
plot wise, it’s good. there are a few moving parts, but the majority of the story is just willa and lincoln trying to figure out how they caught feelings (on her side) and how to make this fake marriage real (on his side). i could have easily read a million more pages of their chemistry and love. and while i wanted just a bit more from the epilogue, brighton set up the next book with the pairing i’ve been waiting for.
overall, if you’ve been sleeping on reading brighton’s books, i can’t recommend them enough. get your eyeballs on any of her series for characters you can root for and cackle at and a guaranteed hea.
**Huge thanks to Brighton for providing the arc free of charge**
BY FAR THE BEST @brighton_walsh book in the Steele Brothers of Starlight Cove Series 😍 and that’s hard to say because they’re all so fantastic!
Obviously, we all love Lincoln, but let’s give Willa some love too. Chronic illness is no joke and this book showed it so much justice. Willa is a queen and Lincoln knows it.
Chapter 38 (I really enjoyed the shorter length chapters btw) was definitely a fav. The PowerPoint presentation had me giggling so much! Of course chapter 46 owns me. The LLC and the whole realization of officially forever. Ughhh so much cuteness!
I have to say, I enjoyed listening to @j.f.harding in Quinn’s audiobook but Lincoln’s character was made for him - him and @savannahpeachwood were top tier 🤍
Thank you so much @brighton_walsh for the ALC opportunity! I cannot wait for everyone to get their hands (or ears) on this January 1st!
The Mr. & Mrs. Mistake is book 3 in the Steele Brothers of Starlight Cove series by Brighton Walsh, and omg… I devoured this ARC/ALC. I literally didn’t stop reading until I finished it.

This audiobook was narrated by J.F. Harding and Savannah Peachwood in duet narration, and they did an excellent job. I loved every minute of it.
Willa and Lincoln have known each other since childhood because Linc is her twin brother’s best friend. Her farm is struggling, and she needs a grant, but to qualify, she has to be married. She ends up at Linc’s bar drunk, and the next day he suggests marrying him so he can help her. She declines at first, but with no other solution, she agrees.
Their banter was amazing. I loved their constant bickering and his nickname for her, hellcat. The truth is, Linc has been interested in her for a long time, and she didn’t want to admit she was attracted to him too. Living in a silo meant sharing one bed, and the tension grew every day. Because they were married, they had to act like newlyweds, but Willa wasn’t comfortable, so Linc practiced with her. Those kissing sessions were hot. He followed her rules until one day she crossed the line—fully in.
And let me tell you… if you loved Atlas and Xander’s dirty talk, just wait for Linc. He also loves reading smut and reads it to her. So. Hot.
Willa deals with chronic pain and avoids asking for help, but Linc helps her anyway. He shows up for her, supports her dreams, and even builds her a hot tub outside so she can relax and ease her pain. I swooned every time he paid attention to the little things.
I loved seeing the other couples and family members. I laughed so much at the charts and the brothers’ interactions. I especially loved how they made Willa feel like part of the family from the beginning. And Atlas’s obsession with Willa’s jam? Hilarious.
This book was great. It has romance, spice, and funny moments with Mabel and the family, but it also touches on chronic pain with so much respect. I read the author’s note, and knowing it’s based on the author’s own experience made it even more meaningful. You can really feel the struggle of not wanting to ask for help or be a burden. Watching Willa learn to ask for help—with Linc by her side, was everything. She’s strong, loving, and afraid of being too much, but for Linc, leaving was never an option.
I enjoyed this one so much, and it’s honestly hard to choose between these brothers, but for now this is my favorite book in the series. I’m excited for Declan and Penelope’s book.
Thank you so much to Brighton Walsh and her team for the ARC/ALC. I’m so grateful to be part of your team.
Oh, Lincoln, you sweet, sexy flirt. You’re a new favorite of mine. What a lovely, cozy small town romance!
Willa Jameson has been running the family farm all on her own despite her chronic back pain. Problem is the farm is in trouble. Her only hope is a grant…and she just found out it’s only available to married farm owners. Well shiiiit.
Fortunately for her and the farm, her brother’s best friend, Lincoln, can’t wait to wife her up even if it’s a ruse. Lincoln also wants to take care of Willa. He’s hated watching her be stubbornly independent while hurting herself. Now he’s in a place to help. And lord does he help. In a myriad of ways. 😉
As these two navigate the whole town’s questions, Lincoln’s family, Willa’s brother, and the grant process, they learn to lean on each other particularly Willa who hasn’t felt she’s had anyone to help in years. And if you’re looking for some spicy times, you’ve found them. Lincoln is a big man who loves to eat. A lot.
🎧 The audio is impeccable just as I knew it would be. @savannahpeachwood brings to life Willa’s iron will and forceful nature as well as her tough, painful moments. And @j.f.harding was made to perform a teasing flirt of a man.
Highly recommended for lovers of close families and friends, small towns, farmers market flirting, and all-you-eat buffets!
I was given this ALC by the author. All thoughts are mine alone.

Another fantastic instalment for the Steele brothers! Honestly Holly knows what she is doing because how she made 3 men like them is beyond me.
Lincoln Steele is hot hot hoooooot. He is beyond obsessed with Willa but everything he does is in service to her and trying to make her like better and happier. His flirty banter in retaliation to her snark is so damn good but he always has a caring and serious undertone to everything he does. I loved how he was positive and fun which contrasted perfectly against Willa.
Sweet Willa. Black cat indeed! She has so much pride and tries to take on all of the burdens of the farm that she is literally breaking her body to do it all. I liked that she was strong and independent but she needed Lincoln to give her softness and a shoulder to lean on when she needs it. She puts up a good fight to resist him but I loved when she finally admits to falling and the way she shows her love to Lincoln.
4.5 stars. I loved this book & audio and couldn’t get enough of the ‘my wife’ moments! That’s always a fave of mine and I ate it up! Willa & Lincoln have been annoying each other for years and that tension is THICK. I could not get enough of the banter between them and that chemistry is insane! But what I love most is how clearly Lincoln sees Willa and wants to help shoulder her burdens. He’s such a golden retriever and I adored him for it!
The audiobook is performed in duet by Savannah Peachwood and J. F. Harding - they both did an amazing job and bringing this to our ears! Every emotion was portrayed so well and I was listening any chance I could!
Wow! I just can’t deal with this series! Every book is so damn good! The characters, the banter, the brothers! The tension and the bickering/flirty banter is so damn good!!
I loved the chronic pain rep from Willa and how she takes everything on as an independent woman, but the way Lincoln realises this and steps up and helps 🥹 Ugh this man was perfection!
Thank you Brighton Walsh for a copy of the eARC!! I’m so obsessed with this series!! 🤭🔥
I devoured this book! Thank you to the author for allowing me to read the ARC/ALC for this one! The audio is amazing and the FMC is my favorite narrator!!
This has everything I love in a romance book!
Little bit of enemies to friends to lovers! I absolute loved Lincoln and Willa!!
I had the absolute pleasure to receive an ARC and ALC from the author of the book and am leaving an honest review.
This book had me laughing since page 1. So much, I had to start taking notes so I could write this review. The Steele brothers are some kind of men, and Lincoln might be my absolute favorite.
The story follows Lincoln, the sun personified. But, despite being up to no good, is the sweetest, most caring and empathetic man I have ever read by Brighton. He exudes fun, flirtation and is the maker of the best of times; while longing for permanence, being business savvy, protecting and loving Willa with every fiber of his being. The man is a doberman disguised as a golden retriever. I thought “this man is chalant as f.” And he is.
Willa, a hyper independent grumpy Queen, struggles with trust issues and yearns to belong. She is very afraid of wanting anything for herself and depending on anyone, while loving Lincoln from afar. Her battle with chronic pain depicts something women don’t talk enough about. It gives visibility to a lot of painful conditions that need to be addressed and recognized by families, doctors and society.
The banter in this book is the equivalent of a golden olympic medal. Just delicious. The Steele family makes Sundays chaos and mayhem; which is lovely to read and one of my favorite details. They are a fierce bunch.
The audiobook made me want to be there as a witness. It’s excellent. It’s my first listen to JF Harding and just wow. He is an outstanding “jackass”. While Savannah Peachwood’s Willa is just golden.
Some other notes: - The men will do anything for their girls and their brothers’ girls. - I loved how Holly recognized that Lincoln deserved to be seen. And that she is a meddler! - The girl squad is really Dangerous (with the good D). - Mabel is a Queen. I need a picture of her in her sequined jumpsuit and strawberry hat. - Can’t wait to read Declan’s book.
Overall this book is fantastic. It will make you laugh and swoon. Lincoln makes one of the best MMC’s, because of his observant nature and emotional intelligence. And Willa will teach many to speak up. Totally recommend to read and/or to listen.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Mr. & Mrs. Mistake by Brighton Walsh
I ran a hand along my jaw and smirked at her. "Damn, that was good. You been rehearsing that one?" "Yeah. I practice insulting you every morning. Helps lower my blood pressure. "
If this quote doesn't sum up Lincoln and Willa, I don't know what would! These two are non-stop banter from start to finish. I knew from the ending of book 2 in the Steele Brother Series that this one was going to be straight 🔥, and it was. The spice was definitely spicing, but their story is more than that. It's about accepting help, learning to trust and lean on others, finding your person and family, and reaching for your dreams. And if all that takes a marriage of convenience to your almost enemy and brother's best friend and some extreme forced proximity in a converted silo? It's well worth it!
It was so good to "catch up" with the Steele family and characters from the other books. Laurel and her snark are still my favorite, but Mabel is truly an icon. I NEED HER SHIRT FROM THE SPICY BOOK SHOWDOWN SO BAD!!! 🤣 I have loved all three books in this series, but this might be my new favorite. At least until book 4 comes out. 😊 They just keep getting better and better! I have high hopes for Declan and Penelope. The scenes between them in this book... 🥵.
I also want to take a moment and talk about the chronic pain representation in this book. So many of us are like Willa. We are suffering in silence and pushing through the pain because we have to. It was nice to have a character I can relate to. It was so well done, and something we need more of!
I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Brighton Walsh, for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️
I picked up The Mr & Mrs Mistake planning to read a couple chapters before bed and ended up staying up until 1am because I could not put it down. I listened to the audiobook while reading along at the same time, and it made the entire story feel fully immersive from start to finish.
The duet narration by JF Harding and Savannah Peachwood was phenomenal. They did not just perform the story, they brought real depth and personality to the characters. What impressed me most was how clearly they differentiated every voice, even the side characters. You never had to guess who was speaking because each character had a distinct sound and presence. The banter was sharp and genuinely funny, and every change in tone and emotional moment felt intentional and natural. They made Lincoln and Willa feel real, and I was completely invested in their journey.
Linc completely won me over. He is attentive in a way that feels genuine, not performative. The way he noticed the little things and consistently supported Willa made him so easy to love.
Willa was such a standout character for me. Her independence, the weight she carries, and her experience living with chronic pain felt honest and thoughtfully written. It was refreshing to see that representation handled with care.
The spice was done so well. It was not over the top or constant, and it always made sense where it appeared in the story. It felt natural, earned, and tastefully written, adding to the connection between the characters rather than distracting from it.
This was my first time reading Brighton Walsh, and it definitely will not be my last. I am already looking forward to diving into the rest of the Steele brothers’ stories.

What a pleasure this was to listen to! Returning to Starlight Cove is always such a treat. Entertaining, spicy, and oh so delightfully fun, who doesn't love a dirty talking golden retriever who'd move heaven and earth for his black cat (temporary?) wife who is determined to hold up the whole world herself even though her body is trying to slowly kill her? As a person who lives with chronic lower back pain myself and physically cannot stand or walk for prolonged periods of time without being in excruciating pain, my heart goes out to Willa! Like, this woman is so unbelievably strong both emotionally and physically and mentally that it makes wanna go out and do something substantial too! 🥹
"Blink twice if you are being held hostage by his dimples."
Lincoln Steele! OMFG, talk about "cream-of-the-crop" book boyfriend material! I love me a Steele brother because their loyalty to their partners is awe-inspiring. Call it unwavering commitment or bullheaded stubbornness but I love that every single one of them fought for their relationship, especially when things got hard and feelings and pride was on the line! So romantic you can't help but swoon a little.
The duet style narration was amazing but that should have been a given as JF Harding and Savannah Peachwood are legends! The performances were so fun, bringing not only Linc's charm and Willa's sass out in spades but also balancing those moments of levity with pockets of vulnerability.
What a treat this was to read from start to finish and the epilogue only teased me up for the next book so perfectly: Declan & Penelope! 😍
** Thank you so much to Brighton Walsh and her team for an ALC of the audiobook**
I am in love with the Steele men and Lincoln Steele may have just become favorite! He has had it bad for his best friend's little sister since he was 14 and cannot pass up the opportunity to marry her in order to help her obtain a family grant for her struggling farm. They may have not gotten along for years in between, but they were once close and the forced proximity that comes with a marriage of convenience starts to bring them back together.
The absolute lengths that Lincoln goes to in order to help Willa puts him in the running for best book boyfriend of 2026. He absolutely worships the ground she walks on and does EVERYTHING he can for her. Lincoln had me swooning at every turn and my toes curling throughout the entire book. And then there is sweet Willa. She lives in chronic pain and doesn't want to be a burden to those that love her. She works harder than anyone and wants to see her farm thrive, however, it's Lincoln's undying faith in her that builds her confidence to take her farm and jams to the next level of success.
The love and support that these two have for each is next level, and that's after chapters of angst and banter. Willa is not quick to tear down the walls she has erected around herself, but Lincoln is determined to take them down by showing her she is safe and loved. I loved these two and I am always happy to go back to Starlight Cove and see what the amazing cast of characters that Brighton Walsh has created are up to! Another must read in this series!
Savannah Peachwood did a great job of bringing out all of the emotions from the anxiety to the pain that Willa experiences to life, while JF Harding absolutely nailed Lincoln. I could listen to him say "my wife" forever.

Thank you to Luna Literary Management, The Smuthood, and to the author for the opportunity to ARC read this book in exchange for my honest review.
I’m really enjoying being back in Starlight Cove. This one has a lot of heat, a ton of banter, and that familiar small-town, family-wrapped feeling this series does so well.
Willa is a strong FMC who has spent her entire life holding the family farm together on her own. She’s in constant physical pain, under nonstop pressure, and so used to carrying everything herself that asking for help feels impossible. When a last-ditch idea to qualify for a grant falls apart, Lincoln offers up a solution she never would have considered on her own. Marriage. Convenient. Temporary. Definitely not something she wants… and yet here we are.
The marriage of convenience setup works really well here, especially because of the constant push and pull between them. Willa has a sharp tongue and zero patience left, and she’s not shy about using either. Lincoln isn’t intimidated by claws and teeth and is more than willing to step in and take care of her, even when she makes it difficult. Their dynamic is full of tension, banter, and a lot of heat, and it kept me engaged all the way through.
As the story unfolds, it becomes clearer where Willa’s defensiveness and reactions are really coming from. She’s been alone in this fight for a long time, and letting someone else step in means risking more than she’s comfortable with. Watching her slowly come to terms with not having to do everything by herself is a big part of the emotional arc here.
The audio is fantastic, with JF Harding and Savannah Peachwood bringing the chemistry, banter, and emotional beats to life in a way that really works for these characters.
This landed at a solid four stars for me. Steamy, emotional, and a strong continuation of the series.
Marriage of Convenience ✅ Brother’s Best Friend ✅ Small Town ✅ One Bed ✅ Golden Retriever ✅ The Blackest of Black Cats ✅
OMG! This was my first Brighton Walsh book, and I’m obsessed!! Lincoln and Willa are a match made in heaven! Their chemistry, their banter, their spice 🥵, their story! I enjoyed the heck out of this book!
Lincoln is madly in love with Willa. Willa, that’s a different story! 🤣 Willa needs help with her family farm, and Lincoln comes up with this brilliant plan of getting married! What could go wrong?! 😉 Read the book to find out!
I love how Lincoln was down bad from the beginning for Willa! His heart and love shone through every single thing! Willa was as stubborn as they come and the biggest black cat!! I loved her! I related to her sass and attitude so much!! She was such a great character. The two of them together! 🤌🏻 The whole gaggle of side characters! Perfect! I’d definitely add this one to your TBR ASAP!
JF Harding and Savannah Peachwood knocked the narration out of the park! Both nailed the characters to perfection! I adored the chemistry!
I’d recommend reading the other books in the series first, even though they can be read as standalones. I wish I had read the other two books before because the other characters were mentioned from other books, and I got a little confused on who was who. But it didn’t take away from the experience of reading the book!
Thank you, Luna Literary and Brighton Walsh, for the opportunity to read and listen to this ARC/ALC!
Thank you so much to Brighton Walsh for this opportunity to be a arc reader.
I loved this book so much it was such a good read that I couldn't put it down.
willia was a struggling farmer who was drowning in debt and not making enough money to keep the farm going. she has walls so high because of things that have happened to her that she doesn't know how to trust people.
willa also gives off black cat energy when I first started reading this book I just thought she was stubborn which she is but she has her reasons for it tho because everytime she let her guard down someone walked away.
Lincoln gave such golden retriever vibes that you couldn't help but fall in love with him and the way he flirted with the old ladies made me laugh every time.
Lincoln has always been in love with willia but the only person who really knew that was his best friend which also happens to be willias twin brother.
id say this book had lots of twists and turns which made the book so good to read and hard to put down because you just wanted to know what happened next.
Lincoln and willa got married it was ment to be fake but we all know how fake marriages end 😉.
I think my favourite part of the book is how much Lincoln is willing to do for willa even when she doesn't want his help and tries to do everything herself he doesn't give in he supports her and helps her with the farm. whilst also working in his family bar and when he told his brothers he needed help the stepped up and helped him which was amazing.
id rate the spice in this book 🌶🌶🌶🌶 out 5 you couldn't of done anything different it was all perfect from the practice kissing down to the real spicy scenes was just perfection and I loved it.
thank you again for this opportunity I cant wait for the next book.
ALC Review - Huge thanks to Brighton Walsh for the opportunity to receive a review copy of The Mr & Mrs Mistake!
⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 rounded up - I knew it was going to be near impossible for this one to live up to its predecessor (The Live-In Temptation was one of my top reads of the year), and I went into it being ok with that. I still enjoyed The Mr & Mrs Mistake, but it just didn’t consume me in the same way that Books 1 and 2 in this series did.
I was curious how I would feel about Lincoln as an MMC since he was the annoying brother/side character in the first two books of the series, and was worried I wouldn’t like him. Luckily, I feel like we got to see a more mature side of Linc in his leading role!
As someone who suffers from severe migraines, I really appreciated FMC Willa’s story of someone living with chronic pain. I do wish this would have been explored in a bit more detail though.
While, in theory, it would be the absolute dream to find a partner who would love and care for me just as I am, the way Lincoln went about supporting Willa didn’t work for me. The last thing I’d want would be someone bossing me around and believing they know what’s best for me and my body when it’s the body I live in everyday.
In Willa’s case, I get that she was so used to pushing herself and not relying on anyone that it was hard for her to stop/accept help from others, but the forceful way Lincoln went about this almost felt controlling and was a turn off for me.
Oh my gosh, this series continues to be one of my absolute favorites…the Steele Brothers continue to be top tier! The banter in this book will have you giggling and kicking your feet, so dang good!
Lincoln Steele might be the standard to which all golden retriever MMCs should forever be judged! This. Man. The caretaking. The way he listens and knows Willa. The “my wife.” The filthy mouth. He’s just perfection. 😍 The chemistry between Willa and Lincoln was amazing and I was so happy when Willa cracked and allowed Lincoln into her life.
On top of all the incredible banter between the MCs, the family banter and text threads will have you cackling! I never want to leave Starlight Cove! And the way Penelope and Declan’s book has been set up is *chef’s kiss* I NEED it. 🤤
Do yourself a favor and start your 2026 in Maine with the Steele Brothers!
What to expect: Marriage of Convenience Black Cat x Golden Retriever Brother’s Best Friend One Bed “My Wife” Forced Proximity It’s Always Been Her
*Thank you to Brighton Walsh and her team for the opportunity to read this arc.
I only took so long to finish this book because I had to take “breaks”. Lincoln Steele is so different from his brothers (read their books too - you won’t regret it) but he is so very swoon worthy and filthy mouthed. I can take or leave the marriage of convenience aspect in romance books typically, but I looove me an enemies to lovers tale. The chronic pain representation meant a lot to me as a chronically uncomfortable girly - as Willa said, the most challenging part of falling in love (and getting married!) for us hyper-independents is trusting someone else enough for them to carry some of our burdens. 😅 Willa was a beautifully damaged FMC that I feel really blossomed by the end of the story. This was both a slow burn and VERY MUCH not one. 🤣 The realization and confession of love came much later than expected, but Linc was not wasting any learning opportunities with Willa in the meantime 🤭 Brighton writes genuinely beautiful smut. I experienced sadness, joy, arousal, pride, yearning, and hope. I feel like this was well rounded and realistic - all things considered. 😉
Overall, Brighton’s books are a DELIGHT. They’re not just enjoyable. They’re GREAT. I am very thankful for the opportunity to read this book in advance and for the chance to leave an honest review. A solid 5 stars, would absolutely recommend, and a Steele brother can visit me ANYtime!
Willa is strong-willed and independent, despite the chronic pain she suffers from daily. I loved her snark and sass. Willa and Lincoln are well-matched and equally determined to come out ahead in the battle of wills. Lincoln is up for the challenge and he thrives on being there for his wife, and he loves to let Willa know all the various naughty ways he’ll be there for her.
Willa and Lincoln have had attraction simmering between them for years, mostly of it disguised as snark and being enemies. When Willa has one last option to save her family farm she reluctantly approaches Lincoln about getting married to qualify for a grant that could save the farm. These ‘enemies’ sneak away to get married at the courthouse in another town to avoid the town gossips, but Lincoln can’t resist proclaiming ‘his wife’ and the secret gets outed quickly.
There is so much to enjoy in this book - a fun storyline, great main and secondary characters, humor, steam, family antics, great chat groups and more!
I received a free ARC from the author; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

I love this series so much. Brightons writing is incredible. The way she writes the emotions, develop her characters and has the humor in there makes you want to slow down and savor every word.
Willa is a strong and independent FMC she takes no crap from anyone and is determined to keep her family farm going by any means necessary. Even if that means fake marrying her brothers best friend, who drives her crazy. He loves to rile her up.
Lincoln is running his family’s bar and supporting Willa from a distance. He’s had feelings for her for a long time. The fact that she is his best friends sister has kept him from acting on his feelings until she needs help saving the farm. He steps up offering to “fake marry” her so she can try and get a grant for much needs funds to save the farm.
The banter between these two had me cackling. Lincoln is a golden retriever through and through. Taking care of Willa even when she refuses to take care of herself. A fantastic book that will leave you feeling warm all over.
An ALC I voluntarily signed up for and listened to. When this hit my inbox i RAN to my app to listen. I love me some Steele Brothers and couldn’t wait to go back to Starlight Cove for the 3rd book in the series. Let me start by saying this can read as a stand alone, BUT I would read it from the start so you can understand how the dynamic between couples work. Brighton does a phenomenal job of integrating the others’ stories and still keeping their stories flowing in this one. Lincoln’s story is, he’s the golden retriever energy brother, the town’s biggest flirt and of course hot as sin. He also has a thing for his best friend’s TWIN sister. Of course, as one should, she hates his guts. A situation leads them both to a marriage of convenience and sex vibes is REAL between these two. And all of these brothers are so endearing, I can’t take it!!!! He builds her a secluded soaking tub? Makes and names a drink after her? Swoon. Five stars. Get you a Steele brother ASAP.
JF Harding and Savannah Peachwood are also my faves and the way JF can make an old lady blush???? That alone should make you want to listen to this.
Side note: there’s a lot of romance book references that only book girlies would giggle at in of these books, but especially this one. ❤️ the smutty book community
Thank you to The Smuthood, Brighton Walsh, and bookfunnel for the ALC!!

I saw this book and knew I needed to read it because it was my favorite troupe: marriage of convenience.
Cue FMC Willa, strong, independent one-woman farm owner finally admitting that she needs help and of course childhood friend/brother's best friend now frenemy MMC Lincoln stepping up to help. And help he sure does. Willa finds a love and a family and a sense in belonging she never truly experienced before.
I love how this story sheds light on having a golden retriever husband being the one to take care of the black cat wife who never wants to ask for help, even especially as she navigates chronic pain.
The playful banter is this book is top tier. The wittiness, the quips, the comebacks, I ate them all up.
This book wasn't overly spicy; just mentioned a ton. Had me questioning what is considering public decency at times. Thin like between "Need everyone to know this is MY wife" and "mark my territory with her smelling like me 24/7". Also had my questioning how many times I was going to see "this 🐱 is mine"
I realized this is book three of a standalone interconnected series about four brothers. I haven't read books one and two yet. I did like how all the characters were introduced without pulling too much from their own stories and weighing down this one.
This was a cozy one night read.

Former childhood best friends Lincoln and Willa are now enemies and both live in their same small hometown. Lincoln runs his family owned bar and Willa is trying to save the farm that’s been in her family for decades. There’s just one little problem, she needs a husband to be eligible for a grant to save her family’s legacy.
The fact Lincoln has been pining for Willa for a decade is so good and I love how he knows just how to get a rise out of Willa. His nickname for her is the best and fits her so perfectly. The banter 😍 is top tier with these two.
One of my favorite things about a Brighton book is the dialogue and this one is no different. We get so much sexual tension, fun nicknames, steamy moments and whooo does Brighton write a good slow burn in this one!
As someone who suffers from several chronic illnesses, I loved the chronic pain representation we get with Willa and her chronic back pain. I adored how Lincoln takes care of her and helps her.
This is another five star read from Brighton Walsh and with a cover this stunning you know I already preordered a physical copy! Thanks to the author for my early copy!
Some of my favorite things in this one:
