This book is exactly what it says it is - for beginners. As such, it primarily provides an overview for the Mediterranean Diet which also includes the Mediterranean lifestyle of daily exercise and socialization particularly when enjoying meals. Besides the brief coverage, this book also suggests a menu for a week and and includes recipes--some of which look pretty good although I haven't tried any of them. This is a good book for a reader who wants to learn more than a magazine article but doesn't want to invest much time for more and would like to try some new recipes. I rated this as 2 stars because I'm the type of reader that would like more information and not less. I'm also not crazy about books that just seem to be getting in on a topic and simply re-packaging it. I expect something to be added that is an author's unique contribution. I didn't get that in this book.

History of the diet is included and how to make it your new diet. How to switch to better products that you will learn to love. Seven day meal plan is included. Also 30 minute recipes. Each recipe starts with a title, color photo, servings, list of ingredients and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar. Directions are included and there is NO nutritional information. More cookbooks are advertised. Only 30 recipes in this one.
I just wish everybody would eat like this ,it's so healthy. My husband and I hAve always had a healthy diet and I am delighted to get as much information about what our food does to keep us well. We are 77 and 73 but fit and well and put it down to this diet . So thank you for caring about our nation and may we all take notice of what we eat .

For a Mediterranean diet, I didn’t expect to see soy promoted. Traditional ingredients include fresh fish, legumes, chicken, dairy proteins, and nuts—not soy, which can be harmful. While some recipes seem effective, this detail made me question the credibility of the eating plan.
I thought this book gives a good overview of the Mediterranean Diet. Quick and easy read, presented in a clear concise manner. I would recommend to anyone looking to get a good understanding. I also like the sample menu and recipes.
