Quick Summary
This book grabbed me from page one and didn’t let go - hello obsession! The banter, the swoony trust-building, and that playful teasing? Absolutely a a must read.

Caught in the Hunter’s Shadow

‘Hunting His Doe’ drags the reader into a shadowed game where desire is sharpened by control and danger is never far away. From the opening chapters, the hunter and prey dynamic dominates the story, creating an atmosphere that feels claustrophobic, seductive, and deliberately unsettling. The tension is not just physical, but psychological, built on power, fear, and a pull that refuses to loosen its grip.

Beneath the dark romance surface lies a constant struggle between surrender and resistance. The characters operate in morally grey territory, where obsession often outweighs reason and vulnerability becomes both a weapon and a weakness. The fast pace and short chapters intensify this feeling, though at times the emotional depth could have been pushed further to fully explore the consequences of their choices. Some plot turns are predictable, but the oppressive mood keeps the story compelling.

I was lucky enough to read this as part of Cat & Mouse: A Dark, Stalker Anthology, and the standout novella for me was Hunting His Doe by Kate M. Levi—so I’m so excited it’s getting a solo release!

It has everything I love in a dark romance: intensity, obsession, and just the right amount of tension.

Kate M. Levi delivers a story that hits every beat—a tattooed, golden-retriever-hearted man who would burn the world down for the woman who’s his. Protective, devoted, and deliciously unhinged in the best way.

Pip is not the only one who becomes Grayson's prey in this book. I started this book and it didn't take long before I was well under his spell myself.
Watching Pip as she starts off as this girl who decides to take what she wants and makes that post searching for someone to fulfill her fantasies and desires. Getting a fast response to her.. "ad" and making the connection as someone decides to make his claim to his prey. Let the games begin as she becomes the hunted and her st@lker begins to infiltrate every aspect of her life.
The true question is does she know this man like she thinks and hopes or is this someone completely different? All while Grayson is still turning up and being the ever helpful protector who is lurking in the shadows and turning up when she always seems to need him most. The attraction grows ever higher between them but so does the desire she has for her st@lker that's been sneaking around.
I loved how smooth this story flowed and how it kept you wanting from the beginning to the end. I finished this book in 1 day! I couldn't put it down and just had to have more. I loved the playful banter and also the slyness of Grayson. I love how Pip's friend Viv seemed to encourage her to just live her best life and just to do her best. That there was no judgement when she found out what she'd been up to, I mean of course not since she was doing the same thing, but instead she was like get it girl. The characters in this book were amazing and I loved them!! I loved the spicy scenes. They were top level and amazing. Never thought having Grayson in my life would be life goals but here we are.
I 100% say if you like dark romance, if you think the TW are more like a menu then this book is for you. As always they are there for your well being and please please always read them before you start any book.
I think this author did a phenomenal job on this book and I can't wait to see what else is to come. I want more about her friend and her man from that site.
So if you are looking for your next dark read try this book.

It’s short, but it doesn’t feel lacking. Every important piece is there. You get a clear picture of how someone depraved and morally grey falls headfirst into obsession—and how his doe isn’t scared of it, but intrigued. Enchanted. Willing to step closer instead of running away.

The chemistry? So good. The teasing, the tension, the spice—it all hit exactly where it needed to. I honestly just wanted more because I wasn’t ready to let these two go yet.

This novella does dark obsession and mutual fascination right. Quick, sharp, and addictive.

Hunting His Doe is a short, fast-paced cat and mouse stalker romance that dives straight into tension, heat, and the thrill of the chase.

From the moment Pip crosses paths with Grayson, there is an immediate pull. He appears when she needs help, carries an air of mystery, and sparks a connection that feels both alluring and unsettling in the best possible way. When Pip is introduced to an online space that allows fantasy to blur into reality, curiosity takes over and the game begins.

What really worked for me was how quickly this story commits to its premise. There is no filler here, it knows exactly what it wants to be and wastes no time getting there. Despite its shorter length, it never feels rushed. The tension is sharp, the pacing is tight, and the cat and mouse dynamic stays engaging from start to finish. The excitement builds naturally, and the spice lands exactly where it should.

The epilogue ended up being my favourite part, which surprised me. Epilogues are not usually what stick with me, but seeing where these characters land brought a genuine smile to my face and felt like a satisfying exhale after the intensity of the story.

If you are looking for a quick read with strong stalker energy, a thrilling chase, and plenty of heat packed into a compact story, this one is well worth picking up.

Grayson spots her straight away and claims her as his, and so the games begin. Tracking her every move, leaving gifts, text messages, and watching over her as she sleeps, Pippa has no clue as to who her masked stalker is all she knows is she's falling and falling fast.

The hunt has begun.

The banter between Pippa and Grayson had me grinning from ear to ear. They were hilarious, and the sexual tension between the two had me kicking my legs in the air. I just couldn't get enough. It was so well written and easy to follow and fast-paced. I can't wait to read more from Kate, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book.

Hunting His Doe by Kate M. Levi was such a fun, addictive novella.

Pip and Grayson are instantly engaging, relatable, playful, and charged with a delicious undercurrent of tension. I loved how natural their connection felt, even as the story leaned into darker themes of obsession, protection, and desire. The predator-and-prey dynamic was especially well done, keeping me hooked from start to finish.

Kate M. Levi’s writing is wonderfully descriptive without being overwhelming, making it easy to slip into the world and feel the anticipation build with every interaction. For a novella, this story packs a surprising amount of depth, chemistry, and atmosphere.

If you enjoy dark romance with intrigue, a hint of danger, and characters that are both fun and compelling, this one is absolutely worth the read.

I really enjoyed this spicy story about Pippa , a funny radiology tech who happens to catch the eye of Grayson after singing karaoke one night. Too bad she also catches the eye of a serious troublemaker who keeps trying her.

Later Pip decides to put it out into the universe (aka DystopiaNet), requesting something she has always wanted to try. Little does she know, Grayson knows it's her posting and decides to stalk his little doe while also being a friend to her. He understands what it is she wants and exactly how to give it to her.

This includes an excellent game of cat and mouse with primal play and paired with the Halloween time setting, it just hit all the marks for me.

I went into Hunting His Doe knowing it would be dark, but I didn’t expect it to pull me in this fast.
There’s no gentle introduction. You’re thrown straight into the story, fully immersed from the very first page.

Grayson’s obsession is impossible to ignore. It’s dark, possessive, and completely consuming, but that intensity is exactly what made this so addictive for me.

Pip never feels passive. She knows what she’s stepping into, and that awareness adds a constant undercurrent of tension that kept me turning pages.

The pacing is quick, the chemistry is strong, and the tension never really eases.

Hunting His Doe is a great pick if you enjoy stalker romance with a clear predator-and-prey vibe.

This story gives you the full predatory hunt. He stalks, he dominates, he makes her his. Grayson has his flaws, his special sort of needs and its kept him from finding 'the one' Until he meets Pippa.

Pippa is a fierce woman who knows what she wants and isnt afraid to fight for it. Though, I wish for more of her backstory. Why she is the way she is? The author gives you a small taste of it before taking it away and never bring it back.

This story gives you submissive and dominance. Its a spicy masked chase until the very end.

Pippa and Grayson have an interesting dynamic in this slow burn, but fast paced book. The writing is easy to read fast enough to not get bogged in irrelevant story.

If you are after a quick hot sexy read then give this a try.

This was a great steamy little story! I love little cat/mouse games in my books. I generally prefer longer books however the detail in this was the perfect amount of description with just enough character development to feel immersive. The FMC was relatable, strong but also willing to submit. The MMC felt rounded, closed off and morally grey but still approachable. Do check the content warnings located in the book if you need to, but overall I really enjoyed this.

At 129 pages, this is more a novella than anything else, which is fine! I guess I just didn't realize that. This is a dark stalker romance with a possessive MMC and a submissive nurse FMC. Other tropes/triggers include kinks, primal play, stalker, murder, home invasion, and cat/mouse games. This book definitely won't be for everyone, that being said I thought it was good for a quick, dark and spicy novella.

Gotta love a hunt!
The pull between Grayson and Pip is undeniable.
The game of cat and mouse is raw and extreme, Grayson will stop at nothing to get his mouse.
He’s determined to get her but he believes she can’t handle him and his dark side, there’s also nothing Pip won’t do to convince him to take her.
The spicy scenes are intense and raw.

A short but powerful dark romance book Hunting His Doe follows the FMC Pip, who enters the online world of DystopiaNet and meets Grayson Everett. He is both protector and predator, and their connection quickly becomes intense and dangerous. Grayson is obsessed with Pip and stalks her every chance he can. As I flipped every page Graysons obsession and control becomes unsettling but I kept going coz I love dark and intriguing books such as this where the tension never lets up.

If you loved reading Haunting Adeline then you will enjoy reading this too.

However please read the author's content warning well in advance as there may be some triggers that are not good for your mental health. And your mental health is important.🖤
