The last few volumes of the series lost me but now things are starting to get back on track. My initial complaint about the series remains valid in that this series seems too similar to the original. However, considering how good the original was, that's not really such a bad thing.

In this one was have a nice subplot about a fishing village harboring an undiscovered gold mine, a river of quicksand, and a han lord feuding with his brother. The main quest continues as well, and Daigoro starts to take a more active role in battle.

Things are starting to build nicely, and it will be interesting to see where things go next.
