This is a terrific book on personal finance. '

Concise, clear and very well written, Train Your Money: An Expert's Winning Playbook for Your Financial Success is the perfect read for someone new to money management and applicable even for those more experiences for some new perspectives and reinforcing the tried and true too.

Hillary Seiler advises a number of professional athletes and teams and I enjoyed how she would weave sports analogies into her examples. As with being successful in sports, to train your money right, discipline is key.

I particularly appreciated how she framed and asked personal point of view questions then laid out clear examples of how to approach the pitfalls that everyone faces with the many aspects of finances. On that note, I am gifting a copy to my young adult children as there’s great advice here and it will reinforce some of “dad’s” own suggestions that I’ve provided over the years. It also explains things, like how credit scores work, fraud prevention and the subject that baffles me the most, tax strategies for beginners, much better than I ever could too.

The book also offers a number of worksheets and links to dive deeper or download additional information and tools or “playbooks” as well.

Finally, the standout section for me personally was the excellent chapter on family money discussions. With aging parents, among other things going on in my life, I found the structure and advice to approaching both routine and sensitive matters around family and money conversations extremely helpful.

There’s a lot of books on personal finance available. If you’re looking for a solid, concise, clear and enjoyable read, I highly recommend this one.

Train Your Money: An Expert's Winning Playbook for Your Financial Successis a thoughtful, tightly written guide that promises and delivers a practical framework for taking control of one’s finances.

Over its concise 116 pages, Hillary Seiler presents concepts like budgeting, credit, goal setting, and preparing for financial crises in a conversational, accessible style. Rather than assuming prior financial knowledge, she builds from foundational ideas toward more advanced strategies, making sure the reader can follow along and apply the advice in real life. Her exercises and examples reinforce that this is not just a book to read but a playbook to act on.

What sets this book apart is Seiler’s experience working with NFL teams and professional athletes. I think it's genuinely impressive that she teaches professional athletes. These people are often inundated with sudden wealth, high earnings, and complex financial pressures how to manage money wisely. Her insights drawn from that realm give the book credibility: she understands not only the ideal financial behaviors but the real‑world temptations, risks, and psychological pressures that come with large income, fame, and uncertain career length.

This helps the lessons feel grounded: if the strategies work in high‑stakes environments, they feel even more relevant for everyone else.

Overall, Train Your Money is both inspiring and empowering. The author's voice is encouraging rather than judgmental, and her advice strikes a balance between being realistic and ambitious. Great read.

I picked up this book after hearing the author on The Burn Podcast and, as I approach the early cusp of retirement, I found it to be timely, practical, and good guide for someone like me at this stage of life. Having spent decades working, saving, juggling family and career, I was looking for a financial book that didn’t lecture me but offered direct easy to understand insight and this one delivered.

What really impressed me is the author's credibility: she isn’t just writing theory, she’s been trusted by professional athletes, including teams in the NFL and NBA, to coach them on financial fitness.

That kind of experience adds credibility that many personal finance books lack. The athlete-training analogy she uses is both fun and accurate. She reminds us that money, like athletic performance, needs consistent discipline, practice. As she said in the podcast... “motivation doesn’t last, discipline lasts.”

If I have a critical note, it’s simply that because the book is brief (116 pages) some topics are covered in a high-level way rather than deeper. But that's ok too because it means you won’t get bogged down with theory.

This was a good book for me for sure.

A necessary tool
I believe that everyone should have a financial education at home or school before entering the world of work. If it doesn't happen, then people should read books about it. I definitely recommend “Train your money” by Hilary Seiler. She has come up with a practical, simple and interesting guide to learn about finance.
In each chapter, she delves into important points that help people to build a complete financial plan, such as building a buffet, saving money or just having more conversations about money with family or friends or acquaintances.
It’s clear the way she explains every point, she uses lessons and examples to help readers understand the nitty-gritty of the main topic. It’s highly recommended.

Readers who feel overwhelmed by budgeting or investing will appreciate how she breaks things down into manageable, real-life steps. It’s about mindset and daily discipline, which she teaches using the same system she’s used with pro athletes.

I feel ready!
How could you read this book and not feel completely excited, motivated, and eager to grow almost without limits?

This book puts on paper the vast experience and expertise of a woman who is overwhelmingly opinionated and knowledgeable when it comes to finance. Best of all, the book is like a compendium of information, tips, and real tools for building a truly secure financial future.

The book not only changed my financial perspective but also 100% of the habits I had when managing my resources and thinking about my investments. . I have encouraged my family to do two things: first, read the book, and second, start a preparation plan associated with all the recommendations.

One of the hardest things for me has been taking control of my finances, and one of the reasons is that everyone in the family or at school teaches us how to manage our money. That is why I started looking for information and tools that would help me better understand how to manage money. And I found this compelling guide, which, in a simple way and with efficient strategies, teaches us how to have a financial plan, daily money habits, invest, and more. ‘’Train Your Money’’ will change your mind about money, reduce stress, give you financial clarity, and generally provide you with long-term security.

Train Your Money is a personal-finance book thats equal parts practical, energizing, and genuinely fun to read. Hillary Seiler writes the way a great coach talks, direct, supportive, and without a shred of judgment. You can feel why professional athletes trust her.
No vague motivation, no unrealistic promises; just clear steps, exercises, and mindset shifts that make money feel less like a monster and more like something you can train and master.
If you want a confidence boost, a reality check, and a real financial plan you can stick to, this book is a total win.

It's actually a success story of how the author managed her way from debt to wealth. It is very interesting to read how someone was able to grow their wealth and see the steps they made apply to you as well. I would re-read the chapter about building an emergency fund. Everybody who plans to have a family , have kids, or opening up a business needs to read that chapter. Money doesn't grow on trees; it is built by the person themselves. And the chapter about discussing money and saving money with your children is also as important. This book is really informational and easy to read. It's something you can read on the train or travelling invest in yourself and read these kinds of books.
