“Bearly in Love” is a spicy paranormal romance by Lola Glass. It is a true standalone from the Supernatural Prison World and is related to “All’s Fair in Love and Magic” and the “Cub Lake Novellas.” Madison returns from her girls' trip at the Supernatural Resort to face the music: she is getting married to a man twice her age because she is the only female kitsune in the world. The day before her wedding, she escapes her fiancé…until her car catches on fire and she’s saved by the bear shifter, Ambrose (Bo). Ambrose is off limits as her brother's best friend and her enemy, but, as the snow locks them in the house, will they give in to temptations they’ve secretly hidden for years? Will she be able to escape in time?
🦊 What to Expect 🐻
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️, Enemies to Lovers, Accidental Mates, Runaway Bride, Brother’s Best Friend, Shifter Romance, Trapped in a Snowstorm
At 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️, “Bearly in Love” is a spicy, unbridled, and passionate love affair between two people who give themselves a week to explore the passion between them until Madison can flee to the Resort. Their accidental mating perpetuates the unintentional love forming between them.
“Bearly in Love” is fairly well paced and spends the majority of the book alongside Bo and Madison as they spend their week together waiting out the snowstorm. The pacing does speed up after their week in the cabin is over, but it is tied up nicely nonetheless.
On a serious note, “Bearly in Love” confronts an archaic theme of marrying for status and using women to procure that status. Madison is determined to mate for love, not for status or to produce more kitsunes. We see her fiancé, his family, and members of her family pushing for this- even threatening her life if she doesn’t follow through.
As a standalone novel, you don’t need to read the “Cub Lake Novellas” or the other books in the “Supernatural Prison World.” In my opinion, however, I would read “All’s Fair in Love and Magic” first. Doing this first introduces you to Madison’s character, her friends, why she would seek out the Resort, and her determination to get out of her wedding in the first place.
