Starlight is a lush, whimsical romantasy retelling of Peter Pan, weaving second-chance romance with the timeless allure of Neverland. Perfect for fans of The Princess Bride, fairytale love stories, and quite a lot of desperate longing.
Wendy Darling is a dreamer. Unable to get her head out of the clouds and out of the past, she yearns for magic, adventure, and the heart of an impossible boy who left her behind ten years prior. But when her parents decide it is finally time for Wendy to find a husband, she is forced to try to make a match with one of London's roguish own.
Meanwhile in Neverland, Peter Pan is haunted by heartbreak and consumed by love. He has had one thing on his mind ever since Wendy left him in Neverland so many years ago–how he was going to get her back. With a decade spent building a life and a home that she would not flee from, he will stop at nothing to make her his forever.
But will Peter's offer be enough to capture his Wendy bird? Or will the ties that bind him to the island make her want to fly away for good?
This book transported me to Neverland and I never want to leave!! The writing was truly enchanting ✨ There were so many moments I was smiling and laughing, I didn’t want to put it down. 🤩 This book brought some much needed light to my life during a dark and heavy time. Loved the journey and cannot wait to see what Miss Lauren does next!! 🧚
an extension of the original Peter Pan story; Skye Lauren adds even more beauty, wonder, and whimsy to Neverland. the lush dialogue and setting truly transported me to the second star on the right. Skye has a beautiful poetic narration that feels very "fairy-tale-esque". some of the writing felt like i could only be reading a story that was written by a true resident of Neverland. while the plot is not overly action filled, the characters, adventure, and romantic undertones of each and every turn is more than satisfying for the reader. i never once felt like something was missing. this book is such a beautiful reminder that the stories that touch your heart stick with you and develop overtime into adulthood. and if we decide to live out those dreams, then the magic of it will take over.
i adored the strength of Wendy and that Skye created a deeply compassionate, independent, and courageous lead female (one that many have potentially viewed as weak or uncompelling, in reflection of the original tale). she is outspoken and advocates for herself, even when she is shamed in doing so.
peter is so perfectly peter. in this story, peter has actually began to grow up and we learn how deeply him and Neverland are woven together. peter is still fiercely youthful and stubborn! but we definitely see that he has grown into a man and his priorities and desires have shifted, as they should. (also, i pictured young hayden christensen as peter the ENTIRE time and that was lovely...you will NEVER regret doing that).
the banter, flirting, and tension between peter and wendy literally had me kicking my feet and giggling. but the reality of their connection is based on pure sweetness. it truly was such a precious extension of peter pan and i am thrilled to know that Skye Lauren is currently working on a tinker bell book!!!! i love escaping into a magical story with characters i have known and dearly loved for nearly my whole life. i wanted more than anything to savor each and every word!
if you love peter pan, this story will quench your desires of seeing peter and wendy be together in the way we've always yearned for, once and for all! and who doesn't love another excuse to visit neverland?! <3
Wow, wow, WOW!!!!! READ THIS. right now. it is sooo enchanting & cozy & whimsical. The Peter Pan ending we all really wanted🩷 The writing, the characters, the plot...not to mention the COVER ART!!! incredibleee.. 10/10, 5 stars.. PERFECTION🩷✨️💫
This book is like a warm hug!!! The writing style is so decadent and magical, and carries all the charm and elegance of a classic tale. I highlighted this quote immediately because it was just so beautifully written: "Before she knew it, her mind was filled with thoughts of kittens made of stars, and how darling it would be to see them sip upon the grand lunar rock for their supper" (Chapter Three). I'm happy that the writing style and tone was consistent throughout the book. I feel that in contemporary books with stylized syntax, the writing can be inconsistent and fluctuate in and out of the style. Thankfully, this book does not suffer from the same issue, and instead maintains its writing throughout the length of the novel.
What I really appreciated about this story is that it is a continuation, but not distortion, of the original Peter Pan. I think it's really icky and gross when authors "retell" the story of Peter Pan by just making him older, aggressive, and horny. Peter is a CHILD and his magic comes from his childlikeness! Happily, this story retains the mischievous and youthful energy of Peter Pan and Wendy while also aging them up to a point where their relationship can develop romantically. I fell in love with Wendy from the first chapter. She is a dreamer and a romantic, but not an idiot or a brat. Her wonderings and dreams seem grand and heartfelt instead of stupid and naive. Peter Pan, as I mentioned earlier, is older and more mature, but in a gentlemanly way. He was aged by heartache and responsibility, but not jaded. In the years that he missed Wendy, he developed a very chivalrous and honorable character, instead of degrading into an entitled scumbag. Admirably, he raised the Lost Boys to also be good people. I really liked watching the reunion of Peter and Wendy, and watching their relationship develop. Of course I also have to mention Tinker Bell. She's a fierce, loyal firecracker, and I really hope she gets her own book. I literally started crying in that scene where she
The only thing I wasn't completely sold on was the subplot with Archibald (I think that was his name?), but it didn't detract from the main story at all.
I also saw in other reviews that the author drew the cover art herself. I don't know how they know that, but if it's true that's super impressive! The art is so pretty and perfectly matches the vibe of the book.
For all those out there that grew up wanting an adventure in a magical land, who built little houses for the fairies in their garden, and who dreamt of a prince charming, this is for you! Seriously such a fun addition to the story of Peter and Wendy that we love so much, and a perfect ending with just the right amount of clean romance. If you’re on the fence, do yourself a favor and read this book.
I literally read this book in a 24 hour span, I was so obsessed. I didn’t want to do anything else but sit and read, and revel in the story. I didn’t go into this book with any expectations, and it really just transported me. The imagery was so mystical and enchanting. The characters were so engaging and inviting. I loved the relationships between Wendy and the lost boys especially. It was all just so sweet and endearing. And the unfaltering love between all the characters was exactly what I hoped for. This was perfection!
I loved this book so much! It’s everything you would want from a Peter Pan story—whimsical, charming, full of magic and adventure, and laugh out loud funny.
In this continuation/retelling, we see Peter and Wendy ten years later as their love story fully unfolds. And it’s just pure magic 😍 The tension, the romance, the imagery throughout it all. I’d like to go to Neverland now, please! Can’t wait to get more in this series and find out more about Neverland.
If you grew up feeling enchanted by Neverland, and always wished that Wendy would've stayed with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys - this book was written for you!
I was instantly swept up in the magic of this story from the moment I began reading it, so much so that I started it laye last night and already finished it because I could hardly put it down. The storytelling was beautiful, the romance sweet, and the happily ever after was, well, magical!
There were also some light Christian themes throughout, and several mentions of Bible verses or stories, which I enjoyed having added in.
This story was so close to being a perfect 5 star rating for me, and the only reason it isn't is because of some of my personal preferences in romantic content. There was a character/plotline and some slight innuendos and implications that felt out of place in a story like this that otherwise felt like a perfectly innocent and delightful escape from reality back into the childlike wonder filled world of Neverland. Because of this content (more info below) I wouldn't recommend this to anyone below at least 18 personally.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this whimsical book though. 😊
Content: semi-detailed kisses (described emotionally more than physically, although some of both), some innuendos and implications of a wife and husband consummating their marriage (but nothing explicitly shown - fade to black), some cuddling/physical affection, talk of desire and struggling to maintain self-control (nothing graphic or detailed), some language (uses of bloody, heel, damned and ass), a character who is found out to be a rake, one character threatens to castrate another while defending Wendy, some minor violence.
That was cute! It was fanfiction length which was cutesy, but I wish it was longer with more details. I want to know more about the Archibald dude, and I wish we had more Peter back story. I also wish there was more buildup. It was written like someone had just watched the 2003 movie and hustled to write their desired ending before they forgot their feelings.
I honestly really liked it and thought it was such good closure to an open ended ship that made me tear my hair out as a kid.
If anyone has ever seen the 2003 live action Peter Pan (a personal childhood favorite of mine), then this book is the happily ever after that Peter and Wendy deserved! It was an easy read, beautifully written, and entirely focused on Peter and Wendy falling back in love and getting married. And I also loved that it was a CLEAN fluffy romance! Just overall perfection for my inner child.
AMAZING. I’ve already read it twice!!! It’s so beautiful. It’s cozy, enchanting, and nostalgic. If you’re one of us whose heart was broken when Jeremy Sumpter’s Peter Pan didn’t choose to be with Wendy, this book is for you. It’s a perfect blend of whimsy and heartstring-tugging that will not let you put down this book. It definitely feels like the embodiment of faith, trust, and pixie dust ❤️
The first book written by Skye Lauren, was full of love and excitement and it brought me back to my childhood. Peter Pan was one of my favorite stories/ movies growing up and the story expanding on what happens to Peter and Wendy after she leaves Neverland really brings happiness to my inner child.
The book definitely gives Bridgerton vibes, but I love me some Bridgerton so that is a okay to me.
The other love interest, let's just say.. I hated him from the beginning because he wasn't Peter!!
The love and adventure this book has honestly makes it a great addition to the original story.
Wowowowow! When I realized I only had a few chapters left, I started to slow down my reading because I did not want it to end! Beautifully written, you could feel the magic as you read. The imagery, the character’s thoughts and emotions. I just loved it all! The yearning in the beginning 🤌 “But as was her memories of Peter, they always shifted from heavenly to heartbreaking in the blink of an eye”
this is everything you could want in a romantic, whimsy read🥰it was so gorgeous it felt like being transported into the magic yourself. It is a lower stakes read as some have mentioned but personally that didn’t bother me! I picked this up purely for the whimsy vibes
It seemed so cute on tiktok and then about half way I was like ugh it had no good plot. Things randomly thrown in a one dimensional everything. Skimmed the last fifty pages.
I loved this book so much! The ending to Peter Pan that I definitely needed. I read Peter Pan earlier today, and the ending had me crying. (I also listened to Peter by Taylor Swift after, and that didn’t help). I read this book in one sitting. I loved the return to Neverland, and everything Skye Lauren added to Peter and Wendy’s romance. It was so sweet and adorable, and I will 100% be rereading again soon.

Ahhh I love this book so much ❤️❤️ I made myself hot chocolate and then I decided to reread this again. I love it even more every time I read it.
Omg 🥹 I’ve always had a soft spot for Neverland and Peter Pan and all the magical things associated. This was the perfect ending for Wendy and Peter. The writing is whimsical and romantic, just like the original. It’s such a beautiful ode to the story, and I can’t wait to read more from this author! Each character was perfectly depicted. The setting was perfect. I felt like I was transformed back to reading Peter Pan for the first time. Love love love 💛🍄🧚🏼✨
As a Peter Pan obsessed girl since I was little… this book was absolutely everything I’ve ever wanted for a Peter and Wendy sequel. The writing was so magical and completely transported me into their world. This was so so so well done, it made me tear up at the end. It felt like closure to a story I’ve waited my whole life to hear. I read it on my kindle and immediately purchased after finishing. I have to own this book. This has a piece of my heart!!! THANK YOU SKYE LAUREN FOR CREATING THIS FOR US!!
I may be biased as a Peter Pan lover but this book has me giggling and kicking my feet at just how cute and sweet the relationship between Peter and Wendy was. I wish I could read this for the first time all over again!
Such a cute book! This book made me feel all the magic from when I was a kid watching all the movie adaptations or the original book. I think it was a very beautiful addition to the Neverland world ❤️🧚🏼
Looking for your next read? Look no further! I can't rave enough about this book. I love a good Peter Pan retelling, but this one captures the whimsicalness of Neverland. The writing is so beautiful that you can feel the longing leap right off the page. Adult Wendy is exactly how I pictured her if we got to know her in adulthood-full of adventure and utterly sure of who she is. Honestly, you will not be disappointed in reading this one. It took all of one day for me to finish. I couldn't put it down!!! 5-star read. !!!
This book had me kicking my feet and literally blushing. It reads like leaving the 2003 Peter Pan film and stepping into an effortless sequel. JM Barrie’s version, of course, ends with a grownup Wendy greeting a still-boy Peter who’d finally returned for her—Wendy instead sees Jane off with Peter for her own adventure. Skye Lauren instead takes us on a journey in which Peter has grown (Skye explains the how and why of this beautifully) and has been preparing himself to be the husband he thinks Wendy deserves—and return to her, he DOES, this time as a MAN 🔥❤️🍃✨ (who still maintains all of the boyish, adventurous, perfectly cocky charm we love about Peter, don’t worry!)
The Bridgerton comp is so on point. Skye packed this book full of whimsical lines and sentiments so tender I’d have to pause to underline them and mark the page. My childhood crush on Peter Pan had always lingered in my mind as an adult wondering about the very circumstances Skye wrote for a grown-up Peter and Wendy. It’s just too much fun!! We get to explore more of Neverland, dig deeper into what and who Peter is and what his connection to Neverland means for his life and Wendy’s. 🌶️ The spice is clean AND satisfying, with just enough room for us to fill in the blanks.
⛰️ This is how Peter Pan ends in my mind, now. Well done to Skye Lauren! Her cover art is breathtaking and if you don’t follow her socials, you should—especially if you’re a Peter Pan buff!
