Hard to believe, but I am nearly speechless after stumbling my way back to reality, grinning like a Cheshire cat. Aven Ellis, you are on my list of authors who could write a grocery list and I would beg to read it! You know that growing TBR pile we ALL have? Climb up and place Surviving the Rachel at the very top, where this gem belongs!

Get ready to sigh, bite your nails, role your eyes and laugh and then laugh some more! Romance has never been so romantically lovable when one down-on-her-luck w

Aven Ellis has done it again. What a wonderful book. Bree is an amazing MC. She's smart, funny, determined and secretly a hopeless romantic. The connection with Jack is there from the start, but I loved how Bree still had her own goals in the story, beside her love interest. She finally has a chance to prove herself professionally and I loved how Aven showed us that side of her. And Jack...

I feel like a parrot saying this as I’ve said it on the blog before.  But when you want romantic, feel-good feels; Aven Ellis is the author you need to turn to.

My Review
If you are looking for a feel good romance that leaves you with a smile and a sigh then look no further than author Aven Ellis's books.

Surviving the Rachel is funny, sigh worthy, and leaves you with that happily ever after smile at the end.

My notes while reading Surviving the Rachel

I love that the main character points out the “red flags” also known as the “guys you should run from.

The main character, Bree, decides that a new haircut is just what she needs to “start over

My Review

Aven Ellis has brought us Connectivity (UK/US), Waiting on Prince Harry (UK/US), Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista (UK/US) and now she brings us SURVIVING THE RACHEL.

This is another witty, comical and heart warming books by one of my all time favourite authors. Again, Aven has brought us a tough minded and strong spirited female lead in the form of Bree Logan.

Nothing screams "I'm a woman ready for a change" than a completely new hairstyle. And if anyone needs a change, it

Did I enjoy this book: I really did! I loved Surviving the Rachel.
Bree is young and trying to find her footing after an unexpected start post-college. After moving home, she finds a friend in her neighbor, Jack. I love their chemistry. They make great friends, and more. There were a few times that I wanted to smack each of them and ask them what they were thinking, or why didn’t they ask the other one very pertinent questions! It was a good frustration. I was invested in their stories,

The story of this book catches ya, if you are a 20 or 30 something; this is a story you know all to well, or at least know someone who has been in this situation; finding yourself as a recent college graduate without a job in your field of study living back in your child bedroom. Follow the story of Jack and his "Rachel".

You always get a full book when you buy an Aven Ellis book. Second, the story is always painted so well, nothing that leaves you wondering hmm? Don't think twice, one click!

I always know when I settle down with an Aven Ellis novel that I’m going to get a feel good romance with a happily ever after ending. There is no hidden agenda with her books and while I often like some grit and drama with my novels it’s nice to read something that’s just plain sweet and loving sometimes. Aven Ellis is a firm favourite in that category.

Life after college graduation is not at all what twenty-one-year-old Bree Logan expected. Unable to find a professional communications job, dumped by the guy who was THE ONE, and stuck with a pricey city apartment she can’t afford, Bree ends up moving back home with her parents in the suburbs and working as a cocktail waitress at a posh Chicago hotel.

In a desperate attempt to get a fresh start, Bree goes to a hip salon and requests that th

Another hit!

First of all I love the title of the story, very clever. The story about the girl next and boy next falling for one another. I like the fact it goes into life after college and how nothing has turned out the way one has hoped, but only to realize it is so much better.

Good read

This is an enjoyable book about two young adults who both had their hearts broken before they found each other. To me Jack is such an endearing character. Bree is skittish about starting another relationship. The character and story building are great.

I probably should have noted that this is a young adult book before I started reading, but nevertheless it was a pretty enjoyable quick read, and I do love FRIENDS. I think the big problem I had with this book was that it was very repetitive. I felt like the main character said to us 'I had to go through what I went through to be where I am today' about a dozen different times. The problem is, we only really got a cursory glance at what she went through, same goes for Jack. The book would have b ...more

Surviving the Rachel is the first book by Aven Ellis that I have read. Although I have several of her books on my shelf but it was fate that I started with this one and I am so happy that I did. I absolutely adored this book.

I loved the cover. It is so romantic and attracted me at first glance towards this book. Then the blurb sealed the deal and I picked the book up to read. Both the blurb and the cover are sure to attract the readers towards this book.

Bree thought her life was going to be perfect after graduating, but now that she has a degree she doesn't feel that confident any longer. Her boyfriend has dumped her, she can't find a job and she's moved back in with her parents, because she didn't have enough money to rent something on her own. To cheer herself up she spends all the money she has left on an expensive haircut at an exclusive salon. Unfortunately the modern version of The Rachel, named after Rachel in friends, isn't a very good ...more

Bree is the main character in Aven’s fourth novel. She’s just coming out of a break up and is putting her best foot (and dodgy hair cut) forward. I was reading this when I had my own dodgy hair cut so I could totally empathise with Bree. I think her “Rachel” hair cut made me think of a young Jennifer Aniston playing Bree in my mind.

Bree is very easy to like and I think part of this is her self-deprecating nature and her joy of pleasing others. She is a hard worker and the extent of it shows when

Bree is out of college and can’t find a job. She just got dumped by her boyfriend and is back living at home. To start fresh, she makes an appointment at a salon to get a new look and ends up walking out of the salon with “The Rachel” haircut from the 90s series, FRIENDS. Bree loves the show FRIENDS, but she did not want to look like one of the main characters from 20 years ago. As always, Aven Ellis has outdone herself. The writing was well done, easy to connect with and hilarious, injecting just a bit of sadness in the story to make it not so much a fully happy, sunshine story. But she certainly creates a book once more that makes readers forget their troubles and just laugh. Laughter is the best medicine sometimes and if you're looking for some mixed with a sweet romance, than Aven Ellis' Surviving the R
