He’s trying to rein it in. She needs to let loose.

Caroline Brennan is stuck. Living in the shadow of her controlling father’s political career, she’s perfected being a people pleaser. When an ill-timed photo thrusts her headfirst into a fake relationship with a handsome stranger, their unexpected connection shakes up everything stagnant in her life. On a mission to explore what she likes, she soon discovers he’s exactly what she needs.

Miles Sharpe is finally proud of who he sees in the mirror. After more than a decade battling grief and addiction, he’s nearly a year sober—and determined to stay that way. But when everything he’s worked for is threatened, Miles becomes entangled with Caroline, both in front of the cameras and behind closed doors. If only prioritizing sobriety didn’t mean walking away from the woman who’s breathed life into his limited little world.

Fighting feelings that are anything but fake, Miles and Caroline have a shed what’s shackling them to their pasts or let fear rip them apart.

Sweet Caroline is the third book in the Lennox Valley Chronicles series. It features mature content and is intended for readers 18 and up.

Hannah Brixton is a contemporary romance author who lives with her husband, three children, and two cats on beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

A self-proclaimed word nerd, Hannah has a long-standing love of language. Having studied linguistics and psychology, she’s fascinated by how language evokes emotion and human connection. Writing romance was something Hannah toyed with for years before actually taking the plunge, immediately discovering a whole world of joy in the creation of love stories.

Hannah loves writing neurodivergent characters and hopes to normalize mental health struggles through her writing. Her books are steamy romantic comedies with more serious topics woven throughout—romantic dramedies, perhaps—always filled with heart, spice, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

In her spare time, Hannah loves to read, listen to podcasts, and sing along loudly to music that embarrasses her children.

First of all, I think we need a moment to appreciate Lumpy. The Santa hat?! Get out! I loved everything about this book… well, maybe one character in particular I didn’t love (and I don’t think we were meant to). Seeing Caroline’s growth made her feel so authentic and relatable. Miles. Oh, Miles. His strength, humor and hot damn, was he sexy. But also the depth of his character, his realness was something I loved reading. Such great characters and a real and raw love story. ❤️

Sweet Caroline is the type of book that will stay with you for a long time. This story and these characters are so genuine, honest, and beautiful. Hannah Brixton has outdone herself in book 3 of the Lennox Valley Chronicles. Miles and Caroline are that couple you didn't see coming, but prove that opposites do attract and may not be so different at all. The ADHD rep and addiction rep for Miles is obviously written with deep understanding and care. Miles grabs the reader's heart from page one. Caroline is equally well written. Being raised by a narcissistic parent, I truly felt for this sweet FMC as she had to find herself and reach for a better tomorrow. Readers also get to see some familiar characters, which I loved. We see queer rep via Caroline's bi bestie. And there's a cat in costume. Enough said. Grab this gorgeous story!

ARC review.

Ugh. I have ARC read all of Hannah's books and they just keep getting better. The way she writes characters feels so freaking real and heartfelt. Miles, in particular, felt like a written version of myself. So many silly phrases and thoughts that I have had myself. Though I also reflect a lot of Caroline as well; I'm a people pleaser who struggles to voice what I need.

This one is definitely the spiciest in the Lennox Valley series (yes, sir), and it's also the most emotional. Miles' story is one of honesty, self-acceptance and learning to let go, while Caroline's is about learning to find her strength and go after what is right for her. These two bring out the best in each other and even though it was a tough slog to get their HEA, it was worth it.

And the spice. Oh my good gosh. Miles is definitely the naughtier brother. Everything about it was perfect though. Being Caroline's sensei, helping her tick off things on her f-it list and being the king of consent; we all need a Miles Sharpe in our lives (in the form of whatever gender(s) you're attracted to).

Hannah, keep writing these beautiful, complex, messy humans - and keep making them ridiculous. ❤️

Where do I even start? This was the most beautiful, intensely emotional, deliciously spicy, freeing book. It is joy and sorrow, hope and loss, sweet and spicy. Stunning!

Caroline is an art gallery event planner who dreams of being more involved in curating while escaping her family's clutches.

Miles is in recovery, nearing the one year sobriety mark, and works in construction.

They meet at the gym. A picture is taken. Her politician father throws a fit. She cooks up a fake dating for the rest of the election plan. He agrees. Their mutual attraction cannot be ignored though. And when he finds out she has never been with someine safe enough for her to explore grown up things, he offers to help her & encourages her to write a fluff list.

Caroline. Oh my heart, precious Caroline. She lost the parent lotto and has had a lifetime of people pleasing & keeping sweet. Her fighting for freedom and exploring what she likes with Miles will make your heart soar and you will be cheering for her every step if the way. Get that joy, girl! (You will want to throw down each time her ex or dad speaks.)

Miles is beautiful & magical. Like a unicorn. He is so earnest & focused. He wants to make up for his mistakes, he wants to stay sober, he wants to do better. And he is doing freaking amazing at it but his world has gotten very small and his is a forever journey. Watching him open up to Caroline & continue dealing with life while facing setbacks & challenges will absolutely rip your heart out (in a good way), fix it up and put it back better than it was before.

Her father is the worst. I hope that he always spills a little bit of coffee on his dress shirt and always has an aggressive itch on his butt when public speaking.

Hannah's writing is so unbelievably good. She writes emotions & characters that burrow into your soul and take up residence. Gorgeous!

I received this as an ARC, which had no impact on my review.

ARC review Book 3 in the series. I have not read the prior ones.
Antecdotal notes while reading
Books opens up with a heavy topic
Caroline-FMC, cheated on by her scumbag ex, father running for governor, works as an event planner at an art gallery, toxic parents
Adrian-Caroline's BMF, protector of her sanity, co-founder
Miles-MMC, working on living a healthier lifestyle, not politically aligned with Caroline's dad's beliefs, sensory, parents passed on
Paparazzi photo leak, bad right now, but maybe leads to something good down the line?
Caroline has such exceedingly high expectations placed upon her. I don't fault her for relocating to small town life.
Caroline, way to stick it to Fletcher. You go Lady Boss!
I like Miles' sense of humor.
Miles, I am proud of you for calling Pete and taking him up on his offer. But Caroline at least deserved an explanation via text, not ghosted.
Miles, look at you being honest.
Miles you are breaking down Caroline's walls, one item at a time.
Great job with the honesty in admitting to the blackmail. Building trust one statement at a time.
Way to decide what you want Caroline.
Open-door, with consent
Caroline!! You have 🦎 🧠!! RUN!!!!!
Oh, Miles, you didn't cause the tragedy. 😢
There needs to be an exit plan for the two of you to stay together.
Don't do it Miles!!! Turn around and get your ass back in your truck! 🤬
😢
Thank f'in goodness Miles!!
"Operation: Find the Fucks" 😂😂
You go, Caroline!!!!
Gus, what are you planning???? It had better help this situation.
Asking about recent testing is great, but I want photo proof not just words. That's me though.

One day, I will read a Hannah Brixton book and not cry. That's not today. This book was EVERYTHING!! I loved this one so much, and it is arguably my favorite Lennox Valley book so far! Caroline's determination to work for the life she wanted, not what people wanted for her, and her determination to do the right thing by Miles was all so beautiful to watch! I loved how she grew and blossomed into her wants and needs and gained the strength to fight for her own wants for her life! And Miles's strength in his sobriety journey, and dedication to put himself and his journey first, was absolutely such a heart wrenching and heart warming story! His growth in this book is one of the most real, genuine, raw character arcs I've read in a long time, especially for a MMC! I adored how he fought so hard to the work for his sobriety, but also was willing to keep himself open to the hard realizations of how far he had come and what he needed and wanted for his own future! I loved these two so much, and I loved how they were both so immediately supportive of the other, and how they kept up the reminder of the importance of fighting for yourself, and not just for other people. Plus all of the cameos and side characters we got time with, was absolutely a blast and a half! This is one of my favorite reads of the fall, if not the whole year! I just cannot say enough how much I loved Miles and Caroline! 5 stars; 3.75 chili peppers

I LOVED this book!!!

I recently read the first two books in this series and really enjoyed them, but this book quickly took over as my favorite in the series. I LOVE Miles and Caroline - they are both just so sweet and lovely and precious and I love them, your honor!!!

Miles is a recovering alcoholic and this book follows his fake dating (and real falling in love) with Caroline, a(n evil) politician's daughter. Poor Caroline has been taken advantage of her entire life, so seeing Miles help her see her worth and stand her ground was lovely. But don't take that as her being a pushover, because she's not at all. She's just really learning her value. And don't even get me started on Miles. I'm about to screenshot every single thing he says in this book because WHAT A MAN. THE MOUTH ON HIM, and he's so freaking KIND and TENDER and LOVING and PERFECT.

The first half of this book was great but the second half was AMAZING. I was SO nervous, I was so sad, I was so hopeful, I was SOBBING in my bed at midnight and then woke up the next morning sad I'd finished this book because I wanted to continue reading it!

And (as I said last time) I LOVE the cameos in this book from our couples from the first two books. And am praying praying praying that Gus gets a book next about his house sitting neighbor who doesn't decorate for Christmas (please, Hannah! Please!!) bc I also love Gus big time. And want more Lump in my life (IYKYK)

Definitely recommend this series and really really loved this third book. Miles and Caroline forever.

ARC review

5⭐|3🌶|14%🌶frequency

I won't lie. While reading book 1 in this series ("Hey Jude"), I was annoyed by Miles. He was a f-up... Yeah, sorry, but I know he sees it the same way now 😎 When I heard Hannah was writing his book, I was excited. Yes, I can be excited about characters I'm annoyed by 😁 Why? Because I know they will get their 💩 together and grow up.
And boy did Miles grow up 🥵 Not in a physical way, he always was like this 😍 But sober and in his right mind, he is so much 🔥 And he is dirty, not just from his job 😉 I'm all in for dirty dirty men 😎

Even though this book has a strong, dark story about Miles being an alcoholic and the other dark part of Caroline's toxic parents, it still has a few very funny parts. Especially when it comes to Miles's obsession with Gus' cat Lumpy 🤣 I'm still flabbergasted that he managed to put clothes on him, I mean, cats are very strong-minded when it comes to clothes 🤣

I could relate to Caroline a lot. My parents are toxic too, but that's not even what I mean. I mean, her living with her grandpa. After my grandpa died, I moved in with my grandma 😊 She wasn't in need, but it was a perfect excuse to move out from my parents. Without having money for my own apartment, this was the perfect solution. I had a separate entrance and was still there if my granny needed me 🩷

I don't know who the next book will be about, but I'm glad it's Gus 😁 I mean, who doesn't want a 🔥 firefighter? 😉

Thanks to the author for trusting me with an ARC 🩷

Miles and Caroline are some of the best opposites attract I’ve read in a while. Miles struggles with real life issues. Even if you’ve never dealt with the struggle of alcoholism he also represents the struggles of self worth and over coming things. Caroline shows us that family expectations can keep us from being who we’re actually meant to be. Together they show us through support, love, and the simple act of showing up that we can get through anything as long as we find our people. Added bonus was the side character in this story! Thank you Hannah for writing a story that is so beautiful it had me in tears.

I received a free copy of this publication for the purpose of review.

The author has an extended list of trigger warnings included before the book which I would encourage everyone to check before reading as there is some difficult topics handled in this book.

TW
*Alcohol use, alcoholism/addiction
*Grief
*Infidelity (ex partner)
*Mental illness (anxiety and depression)

Miles is 10 months sober, and those 10 months have been hard. Thanks to a great support system he finally feels like he's moving in the right direction with his life. And what's wrong with a little flirting at the gym? Normal people do that right? Well, it turns out his flirting is with Caroline Brennan, daughter of Peter Brennan, who's hoping to make his play for governor and his flirting puts him in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. When Caroline suggests they fake a relationship for the sake of her father's campaign, Miles is all aboard if only to stick it to Caroline's awful ex. No catching feelings, right?

It's going to be hard for me not to just gush about this book, but I'm going to try. Miles is such a great character in terms of representation. His struggles throughout the book feel so real. It was great seeing him at the point in his journey where the book starts. He still struggles sometimes with maintaining all the good habits he needs, but seeing his support system rallying around him all the time lifting him up was so incredibly heartwarming. I love that this aspect isn't lost or dropped throughout the book to focus on other things, and was absolutely a major strength of the writing.

Seeing Caroline come into her own throughout the story was also amazing. Being able to watch her grow from the person she is at the start of the book to who she becomes at the end was cathartic in a way that's hard to explain without spoiling the experience for others. Also, her care and love for Miles and the way she shows it and protects him is just...swoon-worthy. And the banter between her and Miles? Amazing. I have so many highlights from my readthrough because there were just so many great moments. I think we all need a sexy Mr. Miyagi in our life.

The spice in this book felt like it was written specifically for me. Every single sex scene in this book had me squirming, giggling, and kicking my feet. Caroline and Miles together are just so incredibly sexy. Miles has a slutty little thigh tattoo and a filthy mouth, and the way their dirty talk gets them going was a thing of beauty. Caroline also has a fuck-it list, which is just hilarious.

Also, the side characters are all great. It never felt like a character I met was a throwaway. There was a story to everyone and it never felt like they didn't have their own inner world to contend with off-page. I haven't read the first two books in this series (though I am absolutely going back to read them now), but I know that a few of the characters have their own stories in those books. I don't feel like I lost anything by not having read those books, which just shows how well I felt they were written in this book.

Overall, this is one of those books that's going to stick with me. The combination of a compelling story, great characters, amazing chemistry, and what felt to me like deft handling of a difficult topic all come together to make what will likely be my favorite book I read this year. I am so glad that I got a chance from the author to read an advanced copy of this, because I already can't stop telling people to pick this up when it comes out.

I love Hannah’s way of writing realistic fun/funny people. It reminds me of friends I adore. She tends to write ND characters, and all of my close friends are ND, so this tracks for me 😄 While the characters are funny, they also deal with real-life chaos and messes and there’s a kind of beauty in that.

Slightly spoiler-y review, particularly the 3rd paragraph:

Miles is lovely and just the perfect match for Caroline. She has been in a highly controlled family situation in the spotlight for some time and Miles comes along all chill and goof and it gives her a space safe to be more herself. In return, she’s a steady, supportive space for Miles who needs that stability. She really “sees” him. I love that dynamic. (As an aside, I also absolutely adore Mile’s cheeky nickname for Caroline: fancy girl)

There is open spice in this book, and I have to say that I really enjoy how down for anything Miles is! Within that, it gives Caroline room to feel trusting and comfortable to voice her wants/needs and interests. He’s just so open and goofy and non-judgemental, which makes him and the scenes super hot!

There is a break-up in this book and it is the most loving and sweet thing, which just makes it that much more heart wrenching. Miles is an addict, actively working on and maintaining sobriety, so there’s some hard stuff that goes along with that and my heart just melted for him. There’s a strength he develops within himself and I love how much, again, Caroline is a strong presence for him too. His journey and insight had me crying a few different times. His big speech at one point had me just streaming in tears.

Ooh and Caroline’s strength in other terms. I was screaming/cheering inside for her in some sort of sisterhood solidarity at a particularly climactic part of her storyline. Wheeew, Caroline 👏🏻👏🏻 Loved seeing her big, well-deserved moment! I’ll leave it at that.

While there are tough times, you do get a lovely HEA as you’d expect with romances.

This was a warm, funny, real, and heart-touching romance and I highly recommend this and the earlier two books in the series!

I received an advance copy of the book and have left my honest, influence-free review

Caroline is drowning in the expectations of her father and his campaign for Governor. Forced to pretend to still be with her cheating ex-fiancé, the screaming in her head has reached an all-time high. That is, until she crosses paths with Miles and one suggestive photo gives her the out she needs, if only temporarily.

*****

This is one of my favourite romances this year. I was immediately pulled into both characters and perspectives and struggled to put the book down, it was so good! Caroline was a peace keeper suffering under a life of being trained to keep up appearances. She had no idea what she liked, what she wanted, or how to speak her mind without being pushed back into her box. Miles was the complete opposite.

An alcoholic, struggling to keep his routine, avoid any deviation, and stay clear of his previous life of chaos and poor choices. Having them come together was absolute magic. They had chemistry, ridiculous banter, and the support that both of them needed to be their best selves.

I loved how emotionally intelligent both of them were, how willing to own their feelings and lean into honesty, wants and desires. It made for a book that could be silly, serious, and absurdly spicy all at once.

Overall, this was exactly what I've come to expect of the author. Honest, human, and well-developed characters that speak to those intrusive, rambling thoughts that live in your head.

*****

Thank you to the author, Hannah Brixton, for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Miles (who you might remember from a less than stellar impression in Hey Jude) has been working really hard to keep his head down and on track. Caroline has always been the dutiful daughter to make sure her father's political career looks flawless and most recently that involves pretending to stay with her dumb-butt ex. But enough is enough and Caroline recruits Miles to help create a new image of a serious relationship with a much better candidate. Miles and Caroline come from different worlds but there's something drawing them together. Will those sparks be enough or will the odds (and certain people who will not be named) destroy them?

Put your hands together for another great fake dating romance that is honestly never actually fake. These two! Oh my freaking goodness! This book is freaking adorable but also not for the faint of heart. There were so many moments that ripped my heart out - Miles' struggles, Caroline's eldest daughter guilt (comparing it to glitter was brilliant because you can never get rid of it), certain characters impressing us with just how scummy they can be. The conversations that happen and the relationships they have with their support systems gave me all the feels.

Beautiful Book 💕

Miles and Caroline will be taking you for an emotional ride in this book and it is worth every moment with them

The way they bring out the best in each other is such a joy to read but also the struggles were so real, deep and meaningful

The spice is spicy!! These two are definitely the hottest couple around and Caroline's f**k-it list is just the perfect icing on this spicy cake and their banter will have you laughing out loud

Lumpy is a superstar character 🐈‍⬛️ and I hope that his gorgeous owner Gus gets his own HEA soon, hopefully with someone who loves his singing and Christmas 🎄

I highly recommend you add this to your TBR - you will not be sorry 💕

Hannah has done it again. She made me ugly cry. This quite possibly may be my favorite book of hers. Miles and Caroline had such a beautiful journey towards self love and acceptance and a journey to each other. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes. Couple that with s*x lessons, and it’s a 5 star rating from me.

Be gentle with yourselves and check the tw’s on this one. They are all dealt with care and understanding. 💖

This was such a fun and heartfelt read. The mental health and addiction representation, and how crucial support is was so wonderfully portrayed. The banter between Caroline and Miles was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. And the Fuckit List was my favourite, I love that Miles was encouraging and always checking in.

Will definitely be checking out the first 2 books of this series too! Thank you again Hannah for the advance copy!

I absolutely love this book! Hannah Brixton’s writing is so captivating. Sweet Caroline hit every emotion. One minute I’m grinning so hard because the banter is so good, and the next I’m teary eyed because these characters deal with some pretty heavy stuff. Caroline and Miles have some of the best chemistry. I love Miles journey, and his determination to be better. And sweet Caroline is literally the sweets with a spicy side. Also I love Miles nickname for Caroline! It was so different and just made me giggle. The Lennox Valley series just keeps getting better and better. Excited to see what’s to come!

I received this copy as an ARC. Thank you Hannah!

This is the first book I've read by Hannah Brixton and let me just say that Hannah now has a fan for life and I will read any and everything written by her. This book made me feel every emotion possible. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, the list goes on. I've never rooted for a couple more than Miles and Caroline. Miles has a troubled past and is still battling demons every day of his life. Then he met Caroline and life started getting easier. I love that they both pushed each other to be better and fight for the things they wanted in their lives.

I will be recommending this book to anyone who will listen!

He calls her fancy girl. 🥰
She accepts all of him. ♥️

The way I love these two. 🥹

This is book 3 in the Lennox Valley Chronicles and definitely my new favourite. (Side note- Gus needs a book!)
It starts with and contains heavy topics, please check your triggers. I had my reservations going in since I was personally affected by someone’s else drinking, so trust me when I say it was handled with a lot of care and thoughtfulness by the author.

But back to Caroline & Miles, did I mention I love them! 😍

Caroline is an art gallery assistant , living with her grandfather in Lennox Valley while trying to escape her family’s control. Her dad is the absolute worst. Miles is Jude’s little brother whom we met before. He had his struggles but has been working really hard on his recovery. He is approaching is one year of sobriety. They meet by chance at the gym at the gym and the connection they have is palpable from the start.

I love everything about them and this book. It made me smile. It made me swoon. And yes I did tear up.

It also brought the heat, and I was here for it!! 🌶️🌶️🌶️He gives her aubergine as a safe word because it’s a fancy word. 🍆🤭

All to say you gotta read it. Can be read as a standalone but the whole series is great. Thank you to the author Hannah Britton for the advanced reading copy, all my opinions are my own.

First of all I am so sorry that my ADHD brain never posted my review when I finished 😭😭 I just realized it last night.

Book 3 by the amazing @
She always shows representation and I love every second of it. This story was absolutely perfect and I cant wait to read it again. I was a giggling sobbing mess throughout the entire story. Not one second was dull. It is an interconnected series so you don't have to read the first books but they are really really good so you should check them out too (Please)

Miles
Hes Jude's brother (book 1) and he is trying to become sober and get his life together. He has an amazing support group which made me insanely happy. He struggles with his ADHD and I can absolutely relate to that. No matter how badly you might want to do something sometimes your brain has other plans. He wants so badly to better himself and become a better person and friend. He always wants to help those he cares about even if he doesn't realize they will be special to him he jumps in and saves her from a gym creep. To say he was absolutely perfect is an understatement. My heart ached for him and I sobbed so hard I had to dry off my kindle. He always asks for consent but also helps her try new things (🐙🐚😉)

Caroline
Her father is running for the governor seat and it forces her to have to stay with her cheating ex so there isnt a PR nightmare. She loves art, her grandpa and the small town life. She has an amazing best friend who always has her back. She loves to help others and so badly wants to put on an art show for local artists (Ada!!). She's lonely and wants to find her own way but with a controlling father in the public eye it makes it hard. I loved her strength and how even though she was surrounded by so many toxic people, she never changed who she was and the amazing heart that she had. Her understanding and being there for Miles was such a perfect moment. Absolutely perfect.

I adore Adrian and I hope we see more of him in the future. I also loved how much this story made mental health issues normal. That it was ok to get therapy and work on bettering yourself for yourself. So many different parts stood out to me whether it was them healing eachother or how friends and family should have your back. It was such an emotionally perfect story. I seriously mean it when I said I sobbed but I also kicked my feet and giggled.

This story was the perfect balance of emotional damage and I cant wait to go through it again. I will read anything this amazing author writes. Easter eggs from the previous two books were spot on.

I cried way too hard. The pain was so real I swore my heart was being torn from my body. Hannah is such an insanely talented writer I cannot express it louder to the world.

"The about the book" make me smile and feel seen. My parents were both alcoholics so I absolutely refuse to drink too

So if you love witty characters with A LOT of swearing (The amount made my little sailor heart so happy), best friends who always have your back and pinky promises, than this story is for you!

Plus who doesn't love a cute airhockey date

Okay but wow. This book took my heart, squeezed it, healed it, and then set it on fire in the best possible way 🥹🔥. This is my second Hannah Brixton book and I am utterly obsessed with the way she writes — her stories feel like a hug and a heartbreak all at once. The emotions? Raw. The chemistry? Off the charts. The character growth? Chef’s kiss.

Oh, I adore Caroline — she’s such a sweetheart but has this wild, fiery side that only Miles can bring out of her. She’s trying to find her footing again, discover who she is without her fathers watchful eye, and she does it with so much grace (and a bit of chaos, which I love). And Miles… my soft boy Miles 🫶🏽. He is so golden retriever coded I could cry — loyal, caring, funny, and the absolute definition of a man who shows up. The way he looks at Caroline? I swear I was kicking my feet.

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THEM — they’re just perfect for each other. The fake dating, the tension, the way they heal together — everything about them had me screaming, giggling, and tearing up. This book is so heartwarming and enlightening. Both characters are strong in their own ways and even stronger together.

It’s not just a spicy small-town romance (though the spice is deliciously done 👀) — it’s a story of self-discovery, self-love, healing, and standing up for what you deserve. Hannah captures the beauty of vulnerability and recovery in such a real, tender way that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading.

If you love:
💫 Fake dating
💫 Small-town vibes
💫 A cinnamon roll MMC + a strong, fiery FMC
💫 Emotional healing arcs
💫 And open door spice...
then you need to read this one.

Trigger warnings:
* ON-PAGE/MAJOR: alcohol use, alcoholism/addiction (and the recovery/sobriety journey), grief, infidelity by an ex-partner, manipulative behaviour by a secondary character, emotionally abusive behaviour/bullying by a parent, physical injury (broken bones, blood), mental illness (depression/anxiety), classism, psychological trauma, panic attack, internalised ableism, fire, and explicit language.
* ON-PAGE/MODERATE: biphobia, vomit, and medical/hospital content.
* OFF-PAGE and/or MINOR MENTIONS: motor vehicle accident, war, societal racism, interactions with law enforcement.
* ON-PAGE SEXUAL CONTENT: Sweet Caroline is an open-door/spicy romance and includes multiple scenes of explicit consensual sexual activity, including toy play, cum play, anal play, oral sex during the FMC's period (but without blood), a soft hand necklace (without choking/breath play), masturbation, sexual degradation, and bondage.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (and a little emotional damage for seasoning)

Where do I even start?? This book reached into my chest, squeezed my heart, whispered “we’re gonna cry now,” and I said okay. 😭

Sweet Caroline is everything I love about romance, funny, filthy, tender, and emotionally wrecking. Caroline Brennan has spent her whole life being who everyone else expected her to be: polished, sweet, agreeable. Then one gym photo and one fake dating plan later, she’s standing next to Miles Sharpe, ten months sober, emotionally honest, and somehow both the filthiest and softest man alive. (Also, the man has a thigh tattoo. I need a moment.)

What starts as fake dating for PR becomes something raw and real — two people learning that love can be healing and hot as hell. Caroline’s transformation from people-pleaser to woman-on-a-mission had me cheering, sobbing, and threatening fictional men. And Miles? My golden retriever in recovery, fighting for his sobriety every single day and still loving with his whole heart. The way he supports Caroline’s freedom, the way she shows up for him… I was feral.

This book balances humor, heart, and heat like it’s an Olympic sport. Miles’ recovery journey is written with so much care — nothing glamorized, just raw honesty and hope. Caroline’s self-discovery and her “f*ck-it list” were both hilarious and empowering. Their communication? Sexy. The consent? Perfect. The spice? Filthy and full of love. 🍆 (Yes, aubergine is a safe word because it’s fancy. I cackled.)

Every side character feels alive — no throwaways, just people you want entire spin-offs for. (Hannah, if Gus doesn’t get a book, I will riot lovingly.)

There’s something so powerful about watching two people learn that choosing themselves doesn’t mean they can’t choose each other, too. This story is joy and heartbreak, healing and laughter, softness and filth all tangled together. Hannah Brixton writes with a kind of emotional precision that hits right in the chest — it’s messy, hopeful, and human in the best way.

I laughed, I cried, I yelled at Caroline’s dad, and then I cried some more.

This book didn’t just give me a story; it gave me a reminder that love doesn’t have to be perfect to be real. ❤️

Sweet Caroline is easily my favorite Lennox Valley book, maybe even my favorite of the year. 5 stars, infinite emotions, and one deeply unwell reader who’s still not over Miles Sharpe.

Such a wonderful addition to the Lennox Valley Chronicles series!!

I loved Miles and Caroline so much!! They had such great banter and they definitely were able to be vulnerable with each other in ways they hadn’t with others before, which was such a great foundation for them to grow their “fake relationship” on 😉

I love the fake dating trope so much, but I especially loved how this fake relationship TOTALLY got away from them even more than usual because they layered on top of it him being her…sex sensei 🤣 more on that later though!

I loved watching Caroline go from a people pleasing, good girl to someone who took control of their life, no matter where that allowed the cards to fall with some of her family. Her ultimately telling off her father and letting go of her final fuck, was so refreshing to see! I was definitely screaming “You go girl!” the whole time!

And Miles!! A total goofball on the outside, but so in need of love on the inside. I loved watching his journey with being sober for 10 months to 1 year, loved the AA rep, and I was so emotionally involved when he almost broke but didn’t!! As someone who used to mask their insecurities, anxiety, and depression with alcohol, his journey was such an emotional one for me to read, but Hannah handled it with such care. Did I cry? Absolutely! Did it feel cathartic? YES! Most important to me was this message of he had to save himself instead of feeling like anyone could save him. Caroline also got this and supported him in literally every way she could, whether that broke her heart in the process. So proud of him for thriving and her for being a real one.

One thing I love about interconnected standalones is seeing all the throwback characters from previous books, which we definitely got! We got Jude, Olena, Murphy, Ada, and Jesse!! I loved seeing the relationship between Jude and Miles, as well as Jude and Caroline in this one.

Spiciest Hannah Brixton book yet!! Between Caroline’s sexy list (which, yes! Hannah does provide at the end of the book!) and Miles’ dirty mouth, this was incredibly hot! I love watching a goofy guy go completely feral and then go back to goofy. That’s seriously my favorite microtrope/trope, whatever it is it’s my favorite and Hannah did this justice!! I also loved Caroline keeping up with him and going a little feral herself 😉

Thank you to Hannah Brixton for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

4.25 stars!

I loved this continuation of the Lennox Valley Chronicles! Hannah is a brilliant writer, and every word felt so intentional in this book. The characters were fully fleshed out, the banter was always perfectly timed, we got just the right glimpses of the previous two couples, and the emotional journeys wrecked me (and then put me back together).

I've been really looking forward to Miles' story ever since he came into Hey Jude wreaking havoc, and I was not disappointed by his transformation. His year of struggling with sobriety in the story was heartbreaking but inspirational. It was refreshing to see an MMC who was so secure in his emotions, going to therapy and having hard conversations with the people in his life. Miles was basically a giant puppy dog - goofy and loving and loyal. He brought Caroline out of her shell when she needed it most, and he did it just so she would be able to live her life on her own terms instead of her dad's. Also, he had me tearing up during his speech at the end, and I just wanted to wrap him up in the biggest hug imaginable.

Caroline had such growth during this book. Starting from a rich girl under daddy's thumb, she put in the work and created the relationships that enabled her to live her own life finally. I loved her adventurous side and was so proud of her every time she stood up to her dad or Fletcher. Her care for Miles' wellbeing and just being there as a silent support when he needed her most was really touching. They didn't seem to have much in common in the beginning, but they were still perfect for each other.

The spice in this book was delicious - Caroline's fck-it list pushed her boundaries in the best way (but always with consent!). Even their kisses were full of tension and heat.

Thank you to the author, Hannah Brixton, for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! I'm part of Hannah's street team and will read everything she writes until the end of time, and if you're reading this review, you should too. I promise you won't regret it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Heartfelt, Healing Romance You’ll Feel in Your Bones

Sweet Caroline is a beautifully crafted love story about two people learning to choose themselves—and each other—after years of putting everyone else first. It’s tender, raw, and quietly powerful in all the right ways.

Caroline Brennan has spent her entire life being who she’s expected to be—polished, agreeable, and perfectly controlled. But when one candid photo thrusts her into the spotlight alongside a stranger, she finally has a reason to ask herself what she wants. Her journey from people pleaser to a woman discovering her voice is deeply relatable and immensely satisfying.

Miles Sharpe is the kind of hero who lodges himself under your skin. Nearly a year sober and fighting every day to stay on his feet, he’s cautious, self-aware, and painfully honest. His struggle isn’t romanticized—it’s respected. Watching him open his life to Caroline, even when it terrifies him, is one of the most moving parts of this story.

Together, their chemistry is undeniable—soft around the edges but pulsing with a slow-burn intensity. Their relationship feels grounded and genuine, built on honesty, consent, and the kind of emotional bravery that transforms both of them. The tension between desire and healing is written with such care that every step forward hits with maximum impact.

Sweet Caroline is more than a fake-dating romance; it’s a story of self-discovery, second chances, and the courage it takes to break free from the past. Emotional, hopeful, and beautifully human, it’s a standout addition to the Lennox Valley Chronicles.

A must-read for anyone who loves romance with depth, heart, and two characters worth cheering for.

What a couple! What a book! 🥹🧡 Miles and Caroline have me obsessed! I could not get enough of them 🥹 Hannah, you are brilliant! I am absolutely enamored by your stories, characters and writing! I absolutely love being on your street team 🥹🧡 Thank you so much for the ARC 🧡

Miles Sharpe 🫦 I was absolutely ecstatic to hear that Miles was getting his own book. He lived up to everything I expected and needed from this man 🥹 Tall, handsome, gentleman, intelligent, blue collar 😈, strong, brave, filthy mouthed, kinky, respectful, sober, hardworking, protective, golden retriever, loves to make her laugh, banters and will do anything for her. He is such a strong character and made me so proud of him with every chapter. His povs were filled with so much, and were perfectly intense, especially about his feelings for Caroline 🥹 I loved seeing his side of ADHD and it made me proud of him!

Caroline Brennan 🫦 Her character was so beautifully written. She's everything I was expecting and gave so much more! Beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, intensely protective, works at an art gallery, brave, kinky, sassy, feisty, respectful, adventurous, sunshine and finally taking a step towards doing what she wants 🥹 I could relate to her so much. She made me sob with how much I could. Her pov's were filled with an intensity especially when she was with Miles. She's his opposite and they make so much of sense, which shows in each chapter 🧡🥹 She's not only there for him, but for herself and I could not stop cheering her on.

These two gave each other so much of strength and support. That is the most important to me 🥹 The spicy scenes had me on my knees! Hannah Brixton, Holy fuck 🥵🥵 They are so hawt!! Give me more! I can't wait to read what else you have in store for us.
