Santa takes a break is a simple book, packed with many messages. Santa thought surely christmas would be ruined without him, he thought that he couldn't take a break from his job. He is convinced to take the much needed break and the ending is a little unexpected.

In all it reminds us that happiness doesn't always have to be perfect.

It is the 2000th anniversary of that first Christmas when Santa first decided to bring gifts to all the children of the world. This year, Mrs. Claus wanted to take a break and spend the anniversary together. Santa was worried at first, but the elves were eager and happy to help! They prepared for the trip and packed all the presents onto the sleigh. They were ready to drive the reindeer to bring cheer to all the children of the world. But could they really fill Santa’s shoes? You will need to read this delightful picture book to find out!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Santa Skips Christmas!?! to my 2-year-old grandson. This enchanting book is geared toward 4–8-year-olds, but the pictures are so adorable – so bright and cute my grandson naturally gravitated towards them. I loved the story as it felt like a fun adventure early readers will enjoy reading. Although there were a couple of words that very young children might find difficult, overall, I believe that early and young readers easily understand and get a kick out of it.

Walters did a great job keeping the story moving and rhyming as well. The heartwarming message of the meaning of the Christmas spirit and the magical aspect of it gave me a cozy feeling. Then the pace picked up when the elves’ plans went wrong, which made the reading even more exciting and fun as they learned what teamwork and working together is all about. The adorable illustrations by Natalie Merheb are a wonderful complement that made the reading experience complete. This story was a wonderful Christmas treat for me, and busy parents can easily relate to Mrs. Claus wanting a well-deserved break.

Now she needs to work more on the story: To set up a meter, polish the narrative, craft the wording, and also work with a good editor hand in hand.
