Mappy McMapface takes pride in being Ghostlight Falls’ very own himbo. Who needs brains with wings like those?
Carter regrets giving Mappy the spotlight. His bitterness and quest for revenge may lead to a not so happy ending for everyone.
But Mappy is hiding a secret. A secret so secret he doesn’t even know about it. Once the truth is revealed, will the town still love their adorable himbo? Will Mappy be able to keep the love of his life, Miguel? Or will his life go off course?
They say Keep Portland Weird, but Ghostlight Falls is weirder. This is a shared world series set in the cutest little paranormal town in Oregon. There is a little bit of everything non-human, from shifters to sentient objects, and even a few alien encounters.
Nicole Parker is the author of creative and humorous romance stories. She is a 30-something California native who spends the great majority of her free time writing books, reading books, or organizing her ever growing TBR list. She also has a spouse, some kids, and pets, but this isn't about them. Nicole's books are funny, raunchy, silly, and most importantly full of good vibes and happy endings.
Mappy was a ridiculous and adorable map-bat-man with all the golden retriever himbo vibes. Miguel was sweet in the streets and dominant in the sheets, and willing to take some risks to be with Mappy. The story was cute and over the top, complete with an evil genius that made some…. interesting choices.

Is he a Man? Is he a Bat? Is he a Map? I mean clearly he's all three and so much more! I immediately fell in love with our MMC Mappy ... he's sweet, he's goofy, and of course he's a walking map-bat god! And our other MMC, Miguel... I mean who doesn't want a drop dead gorgeous not so human man fawning over you?! These two have instant chemistry...and it's HAWT!!! Seems easy enough right?! But nothing is ever as it seems... and now we know that not all of the craziness in this little town is just its random quirks. These two have the odds stacked against them, but you'll be rooting for them from the start!
"Need to take a closer look? Feel free to touch the topography."
Mappy McMapface is very proud of being the walking map for Ghostlight Falls. If you can find him, you can find anything in the town, even Sheet-y who never stays put. He's the resident himbo, and he knows it. Everyone loves him, even if he can be a little too flirty sometimes. But the lingering question is... where did Mappy come from? That's the secret, and that secret comes with a dangerous mystery that puts both Mappy and Miguel in some danger. But don't worry, their quick love pushes through, and they end up just fine.
The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface is part of the Ghostlight Falls universe. They say Keep Portland Weird but Ghostlight Falls is weirder. This is a shared world series set in the cutest little paranormal town in Oregon There is a little bit of everything non-human, from shifters to sentient objects, and even a few alien encounters. Books released throughout the month of September 2025.
Mappy stole my heart, being the total himbo that he is. He just wants to love and be loved, and doesn't deserve any of the bad things being done to him-even if he doesn't know that they're happening. Thank goodness for his sweet laughter filled lover that will be there for him through all the waves that life sends his way. If a shifter you've never thought of and a map-bat-man are on your agenda for this year, this is the book for you.
Just like with all my reviews, here are a few quotes from the book that I enjoyed: •It feels a little wrong to let the visitor do my job of navigating, but I'd follow Miguel anywhere." •"He's obsessed with you because you're everything he's not. You're kind and sweet and so fucking hot it's distracting. You are constantly helping everyone in town with a smile, no matter how obnoxious they are. And if I can see that after only a few days, I'm sure Carter knows it, too." •"Spread your wings for me."
Another 5 star read from the Ghostlight Falls series. This novella focuses on Mappy, the town map, and Miguel— a man stranded in town when his car breaks down. Mappy and Miguel are drawn to each other, but things get kinda weird when Mappy realizes that he’s been blacking out.
I’m so glad I finally read this so that I can join in on the Carter hate. Seriously. Eff Carter. Mappy is the kindest, sweetest, most adorable little himbo and he must be protected at all costs.
Parker kept the plot going while adding in all of the ridiculous details that makes her writing so fun. And this novella especially is neat in that it covers all the parts of Ghostlight Falls (since theyre located on Mappy).
If we don’t get a sequel out of this one, I’m gonna be pissed…
This book is probably a 3.5/5 stars for me because, for a story set in a town of monsters, this is a little on the weird side. It has spice, it has mystery, it has….a sentient map. For fans of this type of romance I’m sure you’ll love it. Or honestly if you just want a short and spicy read this one is for you too! It just lacked depth for me and it felt like I was missing part of the plot that shouldn’t have been missing. Overall not bad but could have been better.
It was okay for a short story, the characters are done really well. I did like the innocence of Mappy. It will be interesting to see where the rest of the stories go as they are interconnected. A quick short very spicy story!
Nicole Parker yeeted this book into the world like a glitter bomb with no warning, not even a “Good luck, sweetie.”
And, well I... Ate. It. Up.
Now—I am a HUGE Nicole Parker fan. Ride-or-die. Sunshine, Kyle and all the weird she can jam in there. Her books have the kind of writing that gives you serotonin, laughs and a happy sigh. So when I tell you that Mappy is NOTHING like anything she’s written before? I mean it in the most unhinged, wide-eyed, this-is-not-a-drill way possible.
This book is dark. It’s weird. It’s twisted. (not twisty like a hose or dark like a nimbus cloud) And then she goes and gives me a sweet, golden-retriever HIMBO?? YAASSSssssss
But then.............(BIG INHALE) THE ENDING. Excuse me, ma’am?? Since when does Nicole Parker write CLIFFHANGERS?! I was out here expecting hugs and closure, and instead I got emotional whiplash, trust issues, and the need for immediate therapy. In the best way.
Mappy is now one of my absolute favorites by her. It was so unexpected, so well-done, and so chaotic in a way I did not see coming.
So, Nicole… if you’re reading this… Please know I’m curled up in the corner, glitter in my hair, mumbling about cliffhangers and screaming for book two while Kyle makes me a snack and the rake offers round two.
Mappy’s himbo energy is ridiculously hilarious, but he is also such a cutie pie. Honestly, the real hook was the mystery with Carter. I laughed, raised an eyebrow, and yes… I may have shouted “Wait, what?!” more than once. Ghostlight Falls is doing its weird, magical thing, and this one kept me guessing while making me grin like a fool.
Being a fan of Nicole Parker’s short stories already, I wasn’t surprised by how much I enjoyed this story.
What better way to discover Ghostlight Falls than by reading The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface? With Mappy being the official town map, I immediately felt reassured that I would be able to find my way around and not get lost in the Wonder Hole during Spadefoots mating season.
How could you not like Mappy McMapface? The man/map/bat may be a himbo, but he makes up for what he lacks in brains with his heart. You can immediately sense that Mappy is empathetic and sympathetic, and he wouldn’t hurt a fly—let alone Miguel.
Miguel wanted to drive through Ghostlight Falls to learn about the town and its unique reputation. However, his old heap—also known as Rosie—decided to break down a few miles outside of town, forcing Miguel to spend a few days there. Upon arriving in Ghostlight Falls, Miguel meets Mappy and can’t take his eyes off this attractive creature.
Mappy and Miguel both have secrets, some more serious than others. To find out what they are, read The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface by Nicole Parker (let’s also take a moment to appreciate the fact that the town bar is named Kyle’s, which I hope is a tribute to our favorite himbo.)
Many thanks to Nicole Parker for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface. This review is my own. All opinions expressed are mine.
I’ve landed in Ghostlight Falls! And this was a mysterious and steamy start to the series for sure! We get a little bit of the town; small town vibes with people who know each other and visitors who can’t help but be swept up in the charm. There’s the ghostlight “frog” museum, per Miguel and we saw the disappearing Sheet-y store. I’m already so intrigued by Ghostlight falls and that was before all the madness that starts happening with Mappy and Carter! I won’t get too much into it because you should find out for yourselves. But I’m excited to see how Carter intertwines himself into the other stories!
Mappy and Miguel were so cute from the start! I loved seeing Mappy go from this super confident, borderline self-obsessed (looks wise) to this almost shy, needy, lighthearted person. I felt so bad for him, and seeing Miguel comfort and trust him was super cute. Also, you couldn’t have given me 10 guesses about Miguel (if you know you know *wink*) and I wouldn’t have guessed that LOL! I’m learning that comes with the Ghostlight Territory! The spice was great, the mystery was intriguing and I can’t wait to read more! Off I go!
The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface by Nicole Parker is hands down a 5 star read for me. It was so fun to read! It had me audibly cackling and giggling while reading it!
There are all sorts of different cryptid beings in Ghostlight Falls and Mappy is one of them! A map-bat-man if you will. Mappy is such a wonderful character, I genuinely loved his character. Nicole did such a good job writing all of the characters and their personalities.
Although this story is less than 100 pages long, it really doesn’t lack plot at all! There is so much that happens between the pages of Mappy’s story. A small town romance with MM spice that involves - let’s say - unusual peens! 👀 And a BIG mystery that needs to get figured out! This story literally had my eyes glued to the pages. It was so good!
This was my very first read by Nicole Parker, but it certainly won’t be my last! I 10/10 recommend this book!
This was probably the most adorable thing I have read, whaaat?! Mappy is the cutest thing I have ever experienced and I absolutely adore him and Miguel so much. Imagine going on a little road trip in your beater and breaking down just outside town you were aiming for. You stroll in town to figure out how to take care of the problem and after being rudely directed outside to check the map you find a passed out man-bat-map in the alleyway and he happens to be super hot and asks you out. What would you do? Much like Miguel I'd go my ass to dinner and see what happens.
This is cute, it's fast paced, there's a fun plot alongside the spice, and the spice? Delicious 🤭🤭🤭 I cannot wait to read more about the residents of Ghostlight Falls. 🖤
MM, unique anatomy, wing teasing, virgin MMC, fingering, anal, claiming, good boy praise 🔥🔥🔥
Disclaimer: This is a 100% biased, but 100% accurate review of this book.
Non-spoilry summary: Mappy is a sentient map/bat himbo that spends his days providing his directional services to the people of Ghostlight Falls. When Miguel breaks down on the way through town, their paths cross and it’s lust at first sight. But Mappy a secret so secret he doesn’t even know what it is. Will they be able to get to the bottom of it, or will Mappy’s secret tear them apart?
Review: Look, I know everybody is always "it just romance", but her writing should be studied. Nicole is brilliant. She manages to pack a mystery and a romance in while providing excellent world building for the entire series. Throughout, she wrangles three main male characters without creating a man blob of confusion.
What a fun story in the Ghost Light Falls series! Of course my love for Nicole Parker is infinite! The MMC Mappy has a kind of Jekelle and Hyde personality thing going on which I’m hoping is revisited a few times in this series. I’m really curious about how this happened to Mappy and why. The spice in this book is so well done! If you love wing play and interestingly shaped peens you’re going to want to read this story! Our other MMC Miguel is part dolphin shifter, so you can use your imagination with what’s going on downstairs there. This novella is coming out September 15th and it is such a great mystery/ romance book if you read it I would love to hear your thoughts!
👀Tropes: Dual POV Paranormal Romance set in a small town, with a winged map (yup, you read that right), a human, secrets/secret identity.

✨My Thoughts: This was a wild ride, and my first Nicole Parker book. I've heard this is her specialty. I had no idea what I was going to get going into this, and I liked it. It was okay. I liked the twist, I liked the characters. I wouldn't read it again, but I think it was a quick fun read.

The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface by @nicoleparkerbooks
The first book I read in this series and what a great way to start things out!!
There is a ton of mystery with this one- along with a twisty twist at the end. The antagonist was antagonizing and the tension between both MMCs was tensioning. 🥵
Loved every minute of it. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a quick, spicy, fun, MM read with a bit of mystery.
This is part of the Ghostlight Falls Series and is available for preorder now. Link in bio.
The Totally Typical Tale of Mappy McMapface by Nicole Parker is quirky, spicy, and pure Ghostlight Falls chaos.
Mappy (impressive wings, a tiny bit conceited) + Miguel (dimples, dolphin DNA, and some wild surprises) = a sweet and steamy M/M romance. Cute hand-holding moments mix perfectly with the very spicy scenes (looking at you, shower scene 🫠🔥).
There’s danger too—Carter, Mappy’s darker side, brings memory loss, mystery, and a daring train track rescue. The HEA satisfied me, but that epilogue? 👀 Ghostlight Falls definitely has more secrets to spill.
Perfect for anyone who loves quirky paranormals, spice, and heartfelt M/M romance. 💫

This is the first book I've read from this multi-author series and also the first by this author. It was so quirky and entertaining and set things up to take me on such a fun reading ride. Fab world building, mystery, twists and a hot MM romance combined so well to make this a page turner. Miguel is part dolphin shifter and Mappy, well, he's a map/bat/himbo kind of guy ;P Mappy is fascinating and I hope we get to see more of him throughout the series. These two were fab together but they had challenges to overcome. Expect to be glued to your reader when you dive into this one. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more Ghostlight Falls stories :D
This book is included in the Ghostlight Fall universe but can be read as a standalone with no issues. The story itself reads rather quickly and very spicy. I would highly recommend checking out the subject warnings and trigger warnings prior to reading at the beginning of the book or on the author's web page if you might question if this book is for you.
I love how this was such an interesting retelling of Jekyll and Hyde. It gave both Golden Retriever energy and black cat energy to both extremes throughout the story.
This book is highly recommended for any one looking for a MM romance with someone who is half man, half bat and ALL map!
Thank you Nicole Parker for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a cozy, yet chaotic novella. I loved every minute!
Mappy and Miguel make the sweetest couple, and holy hells the spice is hot too. I adore Mappy's innocence, and Miguel is so sugar sweet and caring.
With this being so short, it's hard to review without spoilers. A big twist happens fairly early on and talking about it here would ruin the book for you. Trust me when I say it was a really fun read, and totally worth picking up if you want something a bit unusual and chaotic.
Mappy has got to be the most adorably dumb character I've ever encountered, bless him. He's such a golden retriever, and his discovering feelings for Miguel was so freaking sweet!
And Miguel....he's got a bit of an interesting twist to his character 👀 his complete nonchalance about going through traumatic experiences was hilarious though with Mappy having an absolute fit next to him lol.
I love the evil genius (though is he really a genius?) lurking in the background also! I wonder if he's going to pop back up later in the series? I can't wait to keep visiting Ghostlight Falls and find out!
Sweet, spicy, an ominous lol. Mappy is a hot himbo who's having blackouts and losing chunks of time. Which he doesn't care about, until he stands up the new guy Miguel on their dinner date. And that's honestly so adorable. The old school cartoon precarious predicaments had me laughing, the insta lust was so sweet between the two MCs. The little extra surprise Miguel is also packing and the noses he makes, oh my goodness gracious I was cackling and loving every minute. This was the first one of the GLF series I've read but I will be tearing up the whole series.
I absolute adore the world, but this story was just ok for me. I found it really confusing and it was jumping all over the place and I just kept having to reread what was going on. I cannot tell exactly where the story was going, and it left off on like kind of a cliffhanger? And I am really unsure if we are going to get more in another story in this series, or if its just kinda leaving off like this.
Smut was HOT though, Nicole always writes delicious spice.
Also Mappy was kinda hilarious and the most adorable of confused himbo's.
I thought it was funny when Miguel first met Mappy. It is not your typical meet cute. Yet, once I learned more about Mappy and the reason for his blackouts, I felt sad for him. He has and is going through a lot. Luckily, Miguel is willing to stay and help Mappy. I am all about these two. Bring on the heat. Miguel is a green flag.
The little bit of Ghostlight Falls that I got to see I liked. I am excited to get to better know the residents of Ghostlight Falls. This is a quickie read. Mappy and Miguel are made for each other. Even their initials belong together...M&M.
This story was a great opener for this new paranormal small town series! We're introduced to all the important landmarks of the town through the sentient and sexy town map, Mappy McMapface. I enjoyed the mystery around Mappy's frequent memory loss and can't wait to see if a certain someone comes back with more evil plans. Miguel and Mappy's relationship is incredibly sweet and I enjoyed how they each had special equipment 😏 Looking forward to more from Ghostlight Falls!
