Beautiful Lies (Series)

 photo Teaser 1_zpsvwc4yffq.png

photo Beautiful Lies Book One - Goodreads Banner_zpshkxhszpw.png

HOW ARE THE BOOKS IN THE BEAUTIFUL LIES SERIES LINKED?

1. Book One is all about Paige Carter.

2. Book Two is all about Liv Carter. Liv is Paige's younger sister.

3. Book Three is all about Jenna King. Jenna is Paige's best friend.

4. Book Four is all about Nate Carter. Nate is Paige's older brother. Nate's story is all about him and a girl called Emma King. Emma is Jenna's younger sister.

5. Book Five is all about Tyson Miller. Tyson is Nate's best friend.

6. Book Six is all about Rick Adams. Rick is Paige's boyfriend in Book One.

There is another character link but this cannot be revealed as it will ruin a plot twist in one of the books. So I'm afraid you will just have to read each book when it is published to find out! ;)

Nb. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES IN ORDER. EACH BOOK ACTS AS A STANDALONE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT EACH TIME YOU PICK UP A NEW BOOK IN THE SERIES YOU GET TO DELVE INTO THE LIFE OF SOMEONE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN A SECONDARY CHARACTER IN ONE OF THE PREVIOUS BOOKS THAT YOU HAVE READ.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review

This was a wonderful book to read.
I loved everything about it - the plot, the characters. And the ending was perfect...it was emotional and made me cry.

The synopsis for this book is really quite vague, it doesn't give you much insight into what the book is about. It left me intrigued about the story as I didn't know what to expect from it. After reading it, I'm glad of this vagueness. The least you know about what is going to happen before reading, the better I think.

Before reading, I had a theory about the storyline based on what you are told form the synopsis. It actually turned out to be correct, and even though my assumption was confirmed in the first chapter the story wasn't ruined for me. Later on in the book I, again, guessed what was going to occur. None of this effected my enjoyment of the book as although the storyline was guessable to me, there were numerous little twists to the plot that I didn't expect. To me, it was just as predictable as it was un-predictable. There is also plenty of mystery that to the story (to one character, in particular) that leaves you eager to continue reading.

If you are looking for a romance with some mystery and twists, that is emotional and will keep you on your toes...then I would definitely recommend this.

Recieved ARC from author in the exchange for an honest review and I would like to say Thankyou..

Firstly this was different from the books im used to reading. Yes it has Romance and it had a twist to it. When I read the synopsis I was really intrigued and wanted to read it to find out what it was about and i don't regret it one bit. This is not your average love story. It starts off with an accident and goes from there, there are twist and turns along the way, that will keep you wanting more. This is the first book from this author i have read and i know i will be reading more. The connection between Taylor and Paige is beautiful, I really did feel sorry for Rick he seemed like such a good guy and he was put in the middle of something that was inevitable.

If you want a book that is not just your average love story, that has a twist in it well this is the story for you ....

Beautiful Lies follows Paige and her long time boyfriend, Rick, as they work at an art gallery buying and selling paintings. Paige falls into a coma for a month where she falls in love with someone who is not Rick. When she wakes up she has to deal with the consequences of being in love with two people simultaneously.

I was immediately interested in this story because it features emotions that are incredibly hard to interpret and deal with, with a psychological twist. Sharlay has a firm understanding of the emotions her characters are going through and her understanding of them is apparent in treatment of the characters and how they themselves deal with the situations they are confronted with.
Paige is a complex character. She’s able to feel with her emotions in a responsible way. This is because she’s an older as well as Sharlay’s understanding of emotions. Usually when I read love triangles I get annoyed with the main character’s decisions and thoughts, however in Beautiful Lies there were only a few moments where I felt annoyed and this was mainly due to personal preferences and ideals.

Sharlay’s writing styles flows nicely throughout out most of the book and matches the intensity of the emotional moments in the book. There are many moments when paintings are described that are absolutely beautiful. There is a particular passage …

“She is barefoot and her feet are slightly crossed at the ankles as though she is about to walk forward. You cannot see her eyes but she is looking out at the sea. It is a beautiful blue color but the sky looks dark blue as though night is falling. The two shades of blue contrast each other beautifully and I wonder what the little girl is thinking.”

There are a few grammar issues that kept popping up that were the same. It seemed as if the book was written in the past tense then changed to present, so the mistakes looked something like:
“We are stood watching…”
I know mistakes are inevitable and they usually don’t bother me, but when the same mistake keeps repeating itself it pulled me out of the story.

The only other major issue I had with this book was that, despite Sharlay’s ability to capture and express emotions, it kind of felt like instalove. When the reader is experiencing Paige’s dreams I could feel the love and happiness she had, but I wish it would have been expanded on more.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It has an incredibly interesting premise that does not fail to deliver once you read the book. I would recommend this to anyone who thinks it sounds interesting as well to people who are seeking a deeply emotional story about love and what a deep connection feels like.

“To those people who no longer believe in love...it exists...it lives... “

Beautiful Lies by Sharlay is the first book in the (Beautiful Lies #1). The synopsis on this one was intriguing, and I enjoyed the story and I like the concept, different from my reads of late. I was drawn into the storyline, as I wanted to know the link between Paige, Taylor and Rick and had so many theories while reading. I was right on some, but it didn’t matter, as there were a few twists that took me by surprise.

“My heart’s open...for you”

I like Paige and Taylor, and I even liked Rick at first, but then he pissed me off. LOL. I could feel the chemistry between Paige and Taylor, and I felt for them as they struggled with their emotions and trying to make sense of what was happening. My heart went out to Taylor once I discovered what he went through it was so sad.

‘There are still things that you don’t know. Things that I’m not ready to share.”

Overall, I enjoyed this book; it was an engaging, emotional, romantic read with a mystery element. It was the first book I have read by Sharlay, and it definitely won’t be my last. I liked her writing style. I thought the story flowed well and by the end of the story any questions I had, had been answered. I liked the ending and loved the epilogue it just left me with a big smile on my face. And having been introduced to some of Paige’s family I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series and learning more about them.

If you’re looking for something a little different to the normal love story, then this could be just what you need.

To be honest, I really didn't expect to like this book as much as I did since I haven't been an adult fiction reader for a while. But this book surprised me. For the most part I REALLY enjoyed this book. The only thing that got me was the end. After the accident happened with Paige I still felt a little confused about the events that unfolded after the fact. But maybe that was just me.

What really matters is that overall, this was a great book. It kept me up until 4:30 A.M. reading. I COULD NOT put it down.

The best thing about this book: The emotions from the characters were conveyed perfectly. I could legitimately believe them when reading from their perspectives.

After this book, I think I'm ready to read Adult Fiction again. It gives me hope.

4 out of 5 stars. Great job Sharlay!

**Generously given this wonderful ARC copy of Beautiful Lies by Sharlay for an honest review**

Wow. That was a very heart touching book the story between Paige - great name by the way - Taylor and Rick is just amazing. I loved the detail in which this whole story is made of. It is almost like the author has experienced this before. The emotions behind this book, for me, were breathtaking. I loved the funny and heartbreaking story this book tells and I can't wait to see what else Sharlay brings out in the world of books.

Thank you for the chance to let me read this. I am truly honoured

*I received an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Woah. I finished this about a minute ago so bare with me while I'm still trying to put my feelings into words for this review.

I think its truly the mark of a good writer to craft a story in such a way that when I look down to see how far along I am then suddenly realize that I’m about to reach the end, I can fully understand what it's like to be lost in a story. The seamless writing and captivating plot make this a winner for me. I was a little skeptical after reading the blurb and I admit that it was slightly slower than I usually prefer at the beginning but once I got to a certain point it was a race to the end. I’ve never read a book with a premise quite like this and if you’re having any doubts now, forget them and give this a try, I literally could not put this down. I am completely disarmed. This book tore me apart broke me down and I'm still putting myself back together at the moment.

It was slow at the beginning and I was slightly getting more and more frustrated not knowing why certain things happened but oh my god. Once you get there you'll know.

This was kind of a game changer for me. It was intense and gritty but not in the way I'm used to (meaning one of characters was a survivor of abuse). I'll admit before the halfway mark I wasn't sure where it was going or who I should be rooting for but then it shifts and makes less sense, however; seemingly everything makes more sense. You get stuck in a liminal space where you think you get it or at least there's an illusion that it will all make sense soon enough. Then finally the explanation comes out and leaves you in a state I can only describe as the best kind of shock. This was a pretty emotional read for me to say the least.

If you're looking for encouragement to read this, look no further. I don't give five stars easily, and this most definitely deserves them. I'm not gonna give too much away so just read and figure out why this is so special for yourself. There is no book I've read so far like this one. It's completely unique and refreshing. You will fall in love with Paige.

Thank you so much for the arc you have no idea how thankful I am for the unbelievable experience that reading Beautiful Lies was for me.

Now excuse me while I read everything that this author has ever written.

A story about a young woman who wakes up from a coma with a complete alternate reality in her head - or atleast a relationship with someone who only exists in her dreams.
How do you juggle a dream boyfriend and a real one?

This was definitely something I’ve not come across before, which was what made me want to read the book.
I mean, it's not like the voices in your head that all (some) of us have. This is an ongoing relationship with someone she dreams about every night.

I liked the story and the plot premise for sure - just wondering how it was going to get resolved was a good reason to keep reading. Eventually everything gets explained pretty well and the author did a good job bring the dreams and reality together. There was a bit of an insta-love angle going on, which bothered me even though it’s explained away pretty convincingly.
The supporting characters were interesting, some fleshed out in detail while other's like Paige's brother and her boyfriend Rick seemed a bit one dimensional to me.

Paige herself made interesting reading. Somewhere in between, I actually went back to the beginning of the book to figure out how old she was supposed to be. Some of her inner monologues were wise and touching. But then she seemed pretty immature at times as well.

Fair warning, to me it seemed the book needed a lot more editing. The grammar and past/present tense issues pulled me out of the story quite often. I wanted to take a take a pen and start underlining every time someone was made to 'sat down'.

Overall, I did enjoy the book a lot. I received a copy from the author and it was well worth the time it took to read :)

This was a very touching story. Its a lot different then the normal books I read and Im so glad i decided to read this book. The connection between Paige and Taylor was beautiful. When Taylor told Paige what happened, i cried. with everything that happened to Taylor and Paige they still found a way to survive and move on. I feel horrible that Rick was stuck in the middle and had to witness his love fall in love with someone else.. I hope the author writes Ricks story so we can see what happens with Rick.

This book is very well written. The pace of the story was perfect, not to slow or to fast and didnt jump around. I cant wait to read more from Sharlay

From moment that I came across summary on Sharlay’s goodreads page, I was hooked by just reading the summary. It has mystery written all over it and I wanted to know, what happened to Paige? What was going to happen next. I was happy when the author provided me with an ARC. From the second that I picked up the book, I couldn’t force myself to put it down and spend most of my Saturday reading it. How could I not? After only few pages, I felt connected with Paige somehow and wanted to see what would happen with her next. Will she make it through this, and was there a reason that she dreamed about someone she didn’t know. At first I was convinced that Taylor wasn’t real, but her safety net like the doctor said. When she saw him at the gallery, I was as shocked as she was. I knew right then that there must been a reason that she dreamed of him before she met him. It was an unexpected twist.

It’s hard for me to pick who I liked more, Rick or Taylor. I loved them both. They both loved Paige and my heart broke a little for Rick once he realized that things between was over. At same time he was one who walked away but I can understand why. I can’t imagine how it must been for him, watching the girl that he loved be in love with someone else. I do hope that Rick finds happiness in future. However Taylor, I could see that the two of them had a special bond, something that Paige and Rick didn’t have. They were truly happy together. Despite what Paige found out about Taylor, it didn’t tear them apart like I was sure it would, instead it brought them closer together. I was actually smiling at the last page, I was glad to see Paige finally happy again, after everything she went through. Both of them deserved love, happiness.

Beautiful Lies was a heartbreaking, breathtaking story about Love, Loss, Second chances with bit of suspense added in the twist. My type of a story. Even after I reached the end of story, I was craving for more. I’m eager to read Liv& Gavin’s story next, I been curious what happened between two of them from moment he appeared at the funereal. Beautiful Lies is worth every page.

3.5 STARS

As soon as I read the synopsis for beautiful lies I was instantly attentive to every single word on the pages.

My mind was going around and around in circle trying to figure out who Taylor is. is he even real?! What was the deal? It definitely had the whole mystery factor.

Paige, the main character was spending a lovely day celebrating her two year anniversary with her boyfriend. They're on their way home and go to collect wine to celebrate but tragedy strikes.

After Paige's accident she's been getting these dreams about a guy called Taylor. And she is in love with him. How is that even possible? Well apparently it is. These dreams are very vivid to her. Like they're real. But when she wakes up she's disappointed. Her boyfriend knows this and imagine what he must be feeling knowing his girlfriend who once loved him wholely know loves another guy that probably doesn't even exist?

This book was really weird in a good way of course. I thought Rick (the boyfriend) was a pretty decent dude... but I don't know he was and wasn't at the same time. When all was revealed I really didn't know what to think. I mean I kinda had a feeling where this was going but I wasn't so sure. I thought there would've been a bigger cause for the dreams but all in all in I'd say it worked out pretty well. But I have to he honest the ending didn't work for me. It was a happy ending but I personally felt like something was missing. Maybe it was too rushed? hmm...

I don't want to say too much about this book without spoiling it so I'll leave it at that.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Overall this book was pretty good. It was romantic, exciting, a little mysterious and a lot hopeful. I like to think I am a fairly spiritual person and I was very intrigued by the thought of something greater than the mind bringing two people together emotionally and spiritually like it was just meant to be. All the characters were interesting and likable. I wanted to know more about the sister and this mysterious Gavin or the receptionist and the club owner - I have hopes that they will appear in another book. I loved the romance from start to finish in this read - My only complaint was that I wanted more of a back story on Taylor and Marie or maybe just Taylor and his year before the actual confrontation. His family was mentioned and was even noted as being very close with Marie's parents but that was it. I suppose it doesn't take away from the story but I think it would have enhanced my feelings for Taylor. I enjoyed this book and went on to read A boy who paints me, which I enjoyed also, I suggest you give this author a chance if you like quick, easy and romantic reads.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It is not often that a story grabs my attention as much as this one did. From the start of the book the story didn't go how I imagined it would, I was even starting to wonder if I would enjoy the book after the bizarre twist is revealed, however, persevering was the only option because I had to know what would happen next. It is incredibly difficult to review this book without giving away spoilers but the less you know about the plot the better because the surprises just keep coming. I found myself reading the whole book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.

Beautiful Lies is jammed with situations that make you wonder how you would react, the emotions run deep and I found myself tearing up in places. I simply cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you want a great read with an unusual plot, touching romance and great characters then this would be a good choice.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Every now and than you read a book that just touches you and this my friends is that book. Sorry about that run on.

This story is about love and lies.

Paige world is perfect as she know it. Until one day she wakes up and realizes the man she is with is not the one she expects. She is looking for the love of her life Taylor. The only thing is she has been dating Rick for the last few years. Paige soon figures out that Taylor is only a man of dreams. The problem is to her it's real and her relationship suffers.

One day out of the blue she ends up meeting this Taylor and her world is knocked up side down. No longer being a fantasy she had no choice but to get to know him but the kicker is he doesn't want to know her. Trust when lies could never be this good. Your going to have to read the book to know the rest

**ARC was given for an honest review**

I was left absolutely speechless when I finished this book. This story is filled with such emotion that you cannot help but feel it with the characters. This was so wonderfully different than anything else I have read. A wonderful love story with twists and turns. I loved all the characters. I was so happy for the couple and truly felt sorry for the one that doesn’t get Paige, because he was such a great guy and deserves his own HEA. This story is a must read for anyone looking for a great story that is different from the rest and likes some suspense that will definitely keep you wanting more.

I was sent this book as an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest report
This was a tremendously interesting book which had me trying to second guess the author all the way through .It had mystery and suspense and the story line never lacked for momentum. The dialogue was clear and in places quite witty. The twist in the story is well hidden and the ending is just right for the die hard romantics. Thoroughly enjoyable and recommended even to the tune I have bought Sharlays "PRETEND" to see if the quality is as good. A definite buy.

The beginning starts off great! We have Paige and Rick
The start is like
yes gif photo readmyexpression.gif
ohhhhhhh ok! I likey!
"What if someone walks in?" I ask, staring up at him. "I own the gallery, Paige. No one comes in without my say so," he smirks
:0 i am all for the beginning of this book! Yes please!
Too much material...not enough contact
Then after this deliciousness we come to the part where everything FALLS APART.
The accident...... Oh My Eyes (Friends) photo vrt11fjpg.gif
I had a feeling this was about to happen but the feeling of surprise was still there. Fear of what was about to come next was the worst part. Nothing would be the same!
Before the accident i was all smiles, then after that it was sadness. Sighs. Heartache.
The ending of chapter one had me in tears. Poor Rick.
Poor Poor Rick. I am sorry everyone but i liked Rick better.
Taylor was eh for me. I feel like Taylor was just not my type. I really tried to like him but no.
I still love rick. I enjoyed this book.
I needed to know the ending and what happened.
It all comes to a conclusion and a "happy ending" for most people. For me i was content. I understood Paige and why she did what she did but ugh.

Love this quote from the book

Cryingly Beautiful!!!
Received ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I must start off by saying that if I hadn't received this ARC I would have over looked this book. Mainly because of its vague synopsis.

But once I started reading I just couldn't put it down. The author had me intrigued, captivated and drawn in with her emotionally descriptive characters and scenes which are portrayed in her writing.

Not usually a fan of love triangles due to the fact that usually one of the characters (mainly the heroine) are emotionally inept. I found myself sighing with relief at how the author handled the situations.

The story starts out with Paige very much in love with her boyfriend Rick. It's not until after Paige is hit by a car things change. During and coming out of a coma Paige is plagued by dreams of Taylor. Paige is devastated not only that the man of her deams is not real but by the guilt she feels towards Rick for thinking about another man although he's fictional. This is where the intrigue starts...
Is he fictional or is he real?
You can't help feel for Rick and his love for Paige. But how can he compete with a dream man?
My breath catches a few times and I fought back tears. That's how good the author has written this story.

Throughout the story I was continually asking questions and slowly they are being answered but not exactly how I thought they would be. The twists and turns in this story keep you turning the page. If life didn't intervene I wouldn't have put this book down once. I was that captivated!!!

I take my hat off to this author and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. She sooo one of my new favourites.
Definitely a must read!!!

Beautiful Lies by Sharlay takes us on a mind trip with Paige, Rick & Taylor. When Paige is involved in a "hit and run" accident right in front of her boyfriend of 2 years Rick, she is left in a coma for a month and begins consecutive dreams of Taylor. Once she awakens she can't stop the dreams and continues to fall madly in love with Taylor, thus tearing her "real" relationship apart.

The concept has the potential to be fantastic!!! I've never read anything like this before so to say I was excited when I opened this up was a huge understatement. The aspect of art is beautiful and well done. Some of the romantic parts were good, but I kind of felt that the story wasn't given the depth that it deserved. I figured out the book before I was halfway done with it. And although we find ultimately find out "the TRUTH", I'm left wondering about certain characters that were introduced and then never heard from again.

I'm also not sure if it's because the Lovely Miss Sharlay is British, or if they were just over looks, but there are quite a few grammatical errors, which I never comment on, but there were...... a lot.

Is it a good story?! Yes... Would I read the next book in this series?! Probably! But I hope to see Sharlay's characters & story-line developed much more!

3 out of 5 Blushes!

Whoa! Again! I was caught with this one in one sitting!
The story makes me yearn for book 2 please!!!! a sequel to the story of Taylor & Paige!
Sometimes things really happen... hard to explain... hard to accept... but if it really is destined to... fate it is! When you least expect things... when you can't explain things... then what you need to do is have "faith" because it was meant to be...
True love really finds its ways... even in most unbelievable ways... that's how Taylor & Paige's story I describes.... the dreams she had... the feelings she had... it really is meant to be... I probably say no more than this.... I find their story challenging in finding true love... in finding forgiveness... finding true happiness... Kudos to Sharlay! more to come... requesting for their sequels as well... xoxo

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. Honestly I loved the story and the characters!

Paige is involved in an accident that alters her entire life. She goes through so many mixed emotions, most of which she tries to deal with herself, but she realizes she can't. She ends up in a relationship with the man of her dreams, in her dreams, while she is in a real life relationship. The choice between life and dreams is not something we often have to contemplate. The author does a great job of merging dreams and reality.

The book is romantic, exciting, mysterious, and heart wrenching all in one. I definitely recommend it to everyone!

This book was an amazing surprise. This was the first book by Sharlay that I have read but it will not be the last.

In this story we meet Paige and Rick who are in a very loving relationship. Then tragedy strikes and Paige is injured and spends a month in a coma. During the coma she meets the man of her dreams. Here is where all the drama starts.

This book has all the feels. Love, anger, angst, and finally forgiveness.

This book deserves more than five stars. The writing style is stellar and the characters are deep and complex. Cannot wait to read more from Sharlay.

I really enjoyed the concept of this story but the whole execution was awkward. It felt like a teenager was telling me a story, bad grammar and all. Unpolished with stilted conversations, discontinuities and a lot of irrelevant descriptions that did not contribute to the story or the characters. It was frustrating, and the only reason I finished it was to see if I was right about what was going on despite all the ambiguity. I was.
