This book was extra interesting to me because I was at Cornell much of the same time as the author. I enjoyed reading her personal memories of college life and knew some of the people, the places, the events she writes about. There are some unimportant details I think are just plain wrong which makes me a little suspicious of other details. This memoir offers more than just a chronicle of events; it contains her own major life events as well as prominent events occurring during a time of war and heavy racism. It's easy to forget how scary and tumultuous those times were and this was a vivid account. It made me glad that I didn't keep a journal, because overall it is embarrassing to remember how shallow and self-centered a spoiled college girl can be. ...more
