Survivalist Russ Donovan is known on TV as the “Wildest Man In The World.” The last thing this headstrong Aries guy needs is to be wrangled into a cross-promotional TV special with a popular homemaker—even a sexy little thing like Susannah Stone. Besides, the Adirondacks in the dead of winter is no place for amateurs...especially a stubborn homemaker who's determined to sh ...more

We all know the saying opposites attracts well this couldn't be more true in Amanda Usen's Impulse Control. A survivalist and a homemaker!! Couldn't get more opposite than that. The only thing that is heating up in the kitchen is when these two total opposites finally lose control and let their desires and feelings takeover. So when Russ and Susannah are forced to do a reality TV show that integrates their talents an

This is a romance made for television. Russ Donovan is the star of a show called Wild Man, where he goes out in the wild and does dangerous things. He’s living! And surviving! Susannah Stone is a Martha Stewart-in-the-making, only more relatable, because she’s not always perfect. She’s just gotten through a divorce and has a 14-month-old, and she doesn’t have time for anything.

Enter the network. Their boss tells them to combine their shows for a ratings bump…or else. Neither one is interested; R

This opposites attract contemporary romance is the story of Russ and Susie, two TV personalities who have vastly different shows. Russ headlines an outdoor wilderness adventure program, while Susie has a lifestyle show dealing with all things domestic. Ostensibly to improve Susie's show ratings, their boss has decided to have each of them crossover to the other's program. Despite their differences in approaches to life, there is an instant chemistry between them that is only heightened by their ...more

I don't even know where to start with this review...yes, I do. Buy this book! Seriously sexy, with a fantastic storyline and really dynamic characters! I'm such a fan of Amanda Usen's storytelling. I found myself laughing out loud several times, but was also moved to tears by this emotional romance. The dialogue between Susannah and Donovan was so genuine. Equal parts candid, flirty, and amusing. As for the seductive chemisty between this couple-it was off the charts HOT! Definitely a story to r ...more

Both Russ Donovan and Susannah Stone are big TV personalities who have been told by their TV station that they are being thrown together to make a new programme where each will be put in the others environment to see how they cope. Neither expect much from the other, however the chemistry between them sizzles.

Susannah is also a mum to a toddler and has come out of a marriage feeling ver

Russ Donovan and Susannah Stone made quite the interesting couple once they managed to hook up and be civilized and refrained from killing one another. Russ was a reality TV survivalist and the son from a wealthy family who was fighting with his demons since the loss of someone very close to him. Susannah was an up and coming reality TV star herself, but she was more at home in the kitchen than on a mountain. They each had reservations about the other. Each had their own secrets and support syst ...more

This was really cute. Gotta love opposites attract. If I'm being honest, her lack of self esteem started to bug me, but at the same time, I understand where it came from. And I also got his need to constantly be on the move. I loved that neither one of them backed down from a challenge and they both readily recognized when the other was doing well outside their respective elements. Overall cute story.

I love this author and I definitely loved this book! It's a great opposites attract story and I was thoroughly entertained by it.

When two reality TV show stars are paired up for a new show neither can say no to, the hilarity begins and the sparks fly. Total opposites, Russ and Susannah are out to prove the other can't cut it when put to the test.

Great story concept and one you definitely don't want to miss, I highly recommend it.
WTF Are You Reading?

It is not often that I sit down to write a review with a tear stained face and a happy heart.
But after just having finished Amanda Usen's Impulse Control, I am more than happy to report that this wonderfully hopeful and heartfelt read has indeed transformed me into quite the blubbering mess.

The reason?

It's all in the story.

Susannah Stone is a women who seems to have it all.

1. A top rated how-to show that rivals Martha Stewart.

2. A beautiful home.

3. Financial security.

4. Great friends.

Okay I am going to be honest I did not see myself loving this as much as I did and yay me!!
Susannah’s husband left her and her small child 15 months I believe alone and she decided she was going to teach the average American how to take care of a child, cook dinner and take care of the house in yoga pants and vomit. Her show is very popular her competitor on another network is a man named Russ and his show is basically a man Vs wild TV show where they drop him plac

Have I told you lately just how much I enjoy books where the main characters don't get along/have some sort of rivalry/are enemies before hand? It always cracks me up and puts a huge smile on my face watching two people with an obvious intense chemistry fight their feelings, and each other. Just reading that b

I really don’t want to write this review, I want to stop right now and say go buy Impulse Control by Amanda Usen and read it and you’ll understand why I loved this book so much. Russ Donovan AKA 'Wild Man' is known for climbing mountains, dealing with wild animals and swimming through rapids, so when his TV network wants to pair him up with 'At Home' star Susannah Stone, he's not happy. Until he meets her. From then on a rivalry blooms, but the two will have to get past thinking the worst of each other before they can realise why they're in fact perfect for each other.

I read this novel as part of the Men of the Zodiac box set but I will be trying to review each novel individually.

Russ "Wild Man" Donovan is a successful TV presenter of Survival programmes, think Bear Grylls or Ray Mears. Susannah Stone is a divorced single mother who presents a homemaker show on TV. Both get bribed/strong-armed/coerced into creating a cross-over TV show. Russ takes Susannah camping in the mountains and then Susannah will get him to have a face-mask, change a nappy, cook a dinn

Such a fun read!

I love the idea behind it--survivalist/daredevil guy and Susie homemaker go head-to-head, forced to take on each other's environment in front of an audience--so much potential! Add in fabulous characters and you've got a real recipe for a great story! (Pun totally intended)

Both Russ and Susannah are strong characters. They start out as rivals (such an awesome troupe!), each sure the other couldn't possibly survive on their show and wanting to scrap the whole idea. They have some

This was a fun, sexy little read about opposites not just attracting but striking serious sparks. Where Susannah is buttoned-up and controlled, Russ is wild and reckless, so there shouldn’t be any common ground between them. Yet somehow there is. Susannah’s not a woman to give up easily and Russ can’t resist a challenge, but she has self-confidence issues thanks to her ex-husband and Russ has never recovered from losing his brother – it’s no wonder things didn’t just ignite between them, but kep ...more

Susannah and Russ have their own successful TV shows, but they are forced to collaborate for a new special. This is the very last thing that Susannah needs to worry about as she's dealing with he ex-husband and a custody battle. Russ also has no desire for this special, but he owes the producer a favor.

Susannah and Russ seem like opposites. Susannah is a homemaker and cook extraordinaire while Russ is former military, a thrill seeker, and a rolling stone. Despite their immediate attraction, Susa

A great story where supposed opposites attract. It shows how preconceptions can influence how people react and just how wrong these can be. This is a great read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be looking for other books by this author in future.

Susannah Stone is an independent, single Mum, who stars in a popular TV show demonstrating how to be a homemaker now without her domineering ex-husband. Russ Donovan is also the star of his own TV show but his is about surviving in the wild

Really entertaining read.

I liked both characters, although I liked Susannah much more than Russ, lol.

Susannah was a great character, really relatable and I thought believable in her actions and thoughts. She was a mom, had her own TV show, and was dealing with a divorce and n ass of an ex. No wonder she didn’t have the time or the energy to deal with her love life. But once she did, she realized that it was something that was seriously missing in her life. I liked that her time with

One thing that I do know is I really like Amanda’s books. I really like reading where food comes into play in the story. All of Amanda’s books have that. Either it be the guy being a chef or the woman.
From the very beginning Russ and Susannah are attracted to each other. Russ and Susannah don’t want to admit at first. But the attraction is strong. Both have their own TV show and are very different. Russ is the star of a reality show
This book was tons of fun and it came really super close to getting that 4th star. I loved watching Russ and Susannah interact, it was the perfect example of an opposites attract relationship. Their conversations were witty and their accidental touches sparked some seriously hot thinking.

My favorite parts were watching them interact in each of their respective new environments. Susannah showed just how tough she could be hiking a mountin in freezing temperatures (you sure won't find me doing any

Russ and Susannah's story was witty and fun. They are forced to make a couple of TV shows for a special cooking show to boost ratings. Hot guy and smart girl who can both cook and look great is a great idea - but not to them.

Russ is immediately attracted to her and calls her "Susie" to drive her nuts. Susannah just wants to get through the assignment with her dignity intact. Drooling over him on camera is not how she planned to do that. Russ cannot help the hots he has for her, she fits his type

We all have things in our past that haunt us and drive us in our lives. For Susannah it is the failure of her marriage and the things her ex put her through. For Russ it was the loss of his brother and the part he feels he played in it. Both are now rising stars in the network world. When the boss of the network thinks of merging their shows to boost ratings neither Susannah nor Russ are thrilled. Russ is the out doorsy type always looking for his next adventure while Susannah is the homebody he ...more

I envisioned this to be a simple love story that would be predictable. Well, I was overall correct. Was there heat? Well, of course there was as I rarely read one of late that isn't. The pull between the two of them was strong and palpable. I loved it! It had a very reality show spin to it. Very Bachelor/Real World/Big Brother/Survivor. Now that can be perceived as bad by those that cannot stand those type of shows or what we have become by watching them. But if you can see past that part of th ...more

This is one of those books that you are NOT gonna wanna see end. OK, so Russ and Susannah could not be MORE opposite if the author had tried. But you know what they say about opposites, right?! Russ Donovan is always up for an extreme adventure. He fearlessly faces the unknown. Until he meets Susie Homemaker aka Susannah Stone and her infant son. The network wants to film them working together in the other's area of expertise. This should be a rating winner. Can they survive without killing each other? Let the battles begin. Susie's producer, which is a friend of Russ', needs to give her show a little boost, so he teams them up together with a two show series called At Home In The Wild.
