This one was fast paced and super intense. I enjoyed it having a dark edge. The characters were interesting

His Prize is the first book in the new series, ‘Omegas After Dark, Omega Auction.’ It stars Keiran, an Alpha Dom, and Darby, an omega. This is told in first person from Darby, and Keiran’s povs.
First the cover. I really like how this looks, but unfortunately the cover model doesn’t represent either of the characters. Darby is a slim omega, which is the model on the cover, but he’s also about thirty-five years old, which is not what the cover model looks like. He looks like he’s late teens or early twenties, so it’s not Darby. Keiran is about twenty-five, but says he looks nineteen. The face fits age-wise, but Keiran is an alpha and he’s tall, large, and muscular, so that doesn’t fit the model. I don’t understand why the model was chosen when he doesn’t represent either character. Book covers are like a meal presentation in a restaurant. They either work, or don’t. And this one doesn’t.
The blurb does a decent job of describing the basic plot of the characters. The author did a good job of creating atmosphere in such a short story. I would’ve liked it to have been longer. For one, the ending felt like it ended too abruptly, which gives a HFN ending, and not a HEA. This book feels more like one of those free prologue books that lead into the main series.
Darby went into the auction with emotional baggage, that baggage being that he almost caused two planes to crash. He’s an air traffic controller. After the incident he broke down and was ordered to take leave. Darby figures if he gets punished hard enough during play, he can forgive himself. Instead, he gets Keiran, who’s younger, but mature. He’s a coach and deals with young adults who go through periods of emotional self-flagellation for sport failures. Keiran senses Darby is having problems and Darby confesses. Keiran helps him by being compassionate and understanding which works far better on Darby than physical punishment. I ended up having trouble believing in Darby’s sudden change of heart or epiphany because it happened suddenly. I think because it was written as more telling than showing. Keiran told Darby reasons he shouldn’t punish himself, then Darby inner monologues to himself, which is telling, and then viola! He realizes Keiran is right. Considering Darby was extremely messed up when he came in, his sudden light bulb moment was too quick, making it unbelievable. I did like the mention that Keiran would help Darby find a therapist to help him.
I liked the idea of the omega auction, the younger Alpha and older omega, and I liked the distinct characters. I think the story should have been longer because Darby’s realization was too abrupt, and the ending was too sudden. I like the premise of the series and look forward to the other books in the series. I give this book, 4 Stars.

I loooove these stories. They’re so real and so fluffy while being so freaking dirty. It’s beautiful balance that only MM could achieve.
These two didn’t understand each other at first, but they were instantly something more than just a trail. They were fated for each other in sooo many ways. I loved their dynamic.
I can’t wait for the rest of this series!

This is a fun and fairly low-angst start to a new omegaverse series. Darby, an omega, made a mistake at work, for which he cannot forgive himself. He agrees to participate in a mock Omega Auction to fulfill his natural submissive traits, need for pain, and desire for humiliation with a real need for absolution for his failure at work. He's hoping a good few days of hard, faked abuse and pleasure will give him a respite.
Keiran is a younger alpha and high school soccer coach who must keep his darker needs separate from his real world. The omega auction is a perfect way to release his pent up needs in a controlled and safe environment. When he first meets Darby, he is instantly drawn to him. As they spend more time together, it appears they may even be mates. Their new emotional connection makes it possible for him to tease out Darby's true issues. There is a nice HEA, too. I look forward to reading more from this world.

This is a story about Darby, an omega who feels responsible for a past mistake and wants to be "punished" by a dominant alpha, and Keiran, a high school soccer coach who "wins" Darby at an Omega Auction. Darby agrees to be sold to the highest bidder at an auction, hoping for a dominant to punish him for his perceived failures. He is shocked when he ends up with Keiran, a man a decade younger than him. Keiran, who has a dominant side that contrasts with his job, quickly sees Darby's emotional pain and wants to help him heal. The story sets up a conflict between Darby's desire for punishment and Keiran's desire to care for and love him.

I did find the reason for Darby needing punishment was a bit fake as he should have received support from his supervisor. Easy to read and understand. This was an MM story with mature and set in the omegaverse.

This is an introductory novella to a new series, Omegas After Dark: Omega Auction by MM Farmer. It's a spin-off series of the Omegas After Dark series. I haven't read any of the books in the original series but I may have to go back now to do that.
I can definitely say the beta test for the auction was a success, at least in this case. It was a quick fun read at 80 pages.

Darby is wanting punishment & humiliation. A very well written book with an age gap, younger dom & a sub who is hurting. I loved not only the chemistry between the couple but how Kieran really saw Darby & realised he needed comfort rather than pain. A quick but intense novella, the characters were well portrayed, the pace good & the ending satisfying. I look forward to the rest of the series, where I hope we have updates about Kieran & Darby

Kieran and Darby in hot but sweet romance
MM Farmer does a great job of combining k-ink and alpha/omega into this one story. We get enough about Kieran and Darby to get interested in them and then they go to the omega auction, which is totally set up beforehand. I love the way that Ms Farmer writes this “game” at the club so that it can feel real for the players and us readers and yet make it clear that it’s set up to be safe, sane and consensual. It made it so much easier for me to just be able to read and enjoy it for the fun game that it was. I also like how she connects these omega stories to her bangers and mash series etc. It’s a marvelous treat to read.

Short, sweet, and lots and lots of sex. There's an eleven-year age gap, which I love. The power exchange was quite different from most stories like this. That was refreshing.

It's a real testament to an author when you can reread a story and it's been several months between the times you've read them and you remember the finer details of the story. And I know this particular story was part of an anthology but for some reason I almost feel like this was written with less of an ending than we were given before. Or maybe I was filling in the blanks from what I thought might happen, I can't really remember, but I remembered a lot about the story as I was reading it. It's fun to experience it a second time.
His Prize is a perfect story to really introduce new readers to the intensity of the Dark Fantasies club and the Omegas After Dark stories. Short and sweet, but we get to experience the instant connection between the "players" and witness their growing romance.

MM Farmer launches us straight into her Omegas After Dark: Omega Auction series, introducing us to Keiran and Darby, who prove to be perfectly matched. If you love Farmer's books and enjoy kink with care, snag this book and read it in one sitting. A great read and you'll be ready for the upcoming books in the series.

Great story
I absolutely loved this story. The heat level was off the charts but so was the emotional aspect. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two of them and Kieran was absolutely perfect for his omega.

This was a fun, spicy read! I love Darby and Kieran. Darby is obviously smart and ambitious given how high up he is at his job, but he's also really hard on himself. Kieran can read Darby so well, I love it. He knows when something's wrong and he knows exactly what he needs. I love how Kieran assesses the situation and switches up his tactics again and again. The way these two get together is fun and spicy and unique. This was a cute novella!

Wonderful, kinky story of Kieran and Darby. Loved these characters and loved reading about their exploits. Terrific read.
