Tropes:
holiday romance
second chance romance
forced proximity
small town
city girl x cowboy
Dual POV
Bourbon & Blizzards at Snow Ranch is full of second chances, cookies, bourbon, snow storms, and dachshund dogs. Savannah and Levi were young lovers on the path to being engaged at Christmas. However, Savannah's father convinced Levi he wasn't good enough and Levi broke up with Savannah. Fast forward 10 years later, Levi and Savannah are thrown back into each other's paths when Savannah's grandmother's will splits the deed of Snow Ranch between the two. Will forced proximity lead to second chances between the couple who can't stop thinking of one another?
I liked the story of Bourbon & Blizzards. Anytime you give me a second chance and forced proximity trope, I'm here for it. Then you're throwing in bourbon, Colorado, and ranches? Sign me up. I really enjoyed the recipes found throughout the book, and I'll have to try my hand at some of them. I thought it was a fun idea that the ranch had an inn, and a bourbon distillery on site. Usually ranch stories are just that- cowboying, so this was a fun twist!
However, I found the first half to be repetitive. It was constantly how Levi left Savannah, over and over. Then the second half, I felt was a little long. This would have been a great holiday novella instead. After Levi tells Savannah the truth about their breakup, which was earlier than I expected, I felt the chemistry between the two was lackluster at best. Also, the dialogue editing could have been better. When you start a new "paragraph" or "line" of dialogue, usually the means the next person is talking but that wasn't the case here so I would get confused on who was talking sometimes.
