I thought the book was a good, but I think that it teaches kids bad habits. The little bear was told to stay in the cave and go to sleep for the winter, but he did not listen to his mom and left to go play in the snow. The bear being as young as he was didn't know what type of dangers there were out in the wilderness during the winter season. It was a good thing that he met a wolf pup, or he wouldn't have survived. I think that this book is teaching kids that it is acceptable to do what you want and not listen to your parents. This book should not be read by kids, it will give off the wrong message. My little cousin Connor loved this book. He loves the outdoors and all the animals. When we got to the hunting part he was so excited, but he was actually upset since the hunters didn't shoot anything. Although he did enjoy looking at the pictures, he never even realized that the bear cub disobeyed his mom. Other then the disobeying of the mother bear I enjoyed this book.

The two main characters are the bear cub and the wolf pup. The bear cub was a very nice caring little cub. He cared about his family and friends. He just needs to listen to his parents, since they are the older and wiser. The wolf pup was a little mischievous and liked to explore, that is how he found the little bear cub. He was energetic and loves to play tag with anyone in the woods. He was such a friendly little pup.

This story takes place in a forest just as winter was arriving. Most of the animals were going into hibernation. Hunting season was approaching and all the hunters were taking advantage of the animals that weren't in hibernation.

I would recommend this book to any kids that are able to understand the difference between good and bad habits. It is not for just any kid, especially the ones that do everything that they hear. This book will teach the kids very bad habits I think. Other then teaching bad habits, the colored pictures are very vivid.

They get an extra star for the non-fiction pages at the end. The stories are pretty decent and generally have some sort of lesson to them.

I found this book at a goodwill store and bought it because of the cute illustrations. Unfortunately the story wasn't as cute. Half the book follows mama bear. I think this would lose children as much as it lost me. I wanted to know more of what Little Bear and his new friend were doing.
