Ivy held the note from Ryker in both hands, tears spilling down her front. He couldn't mean it. He had to still love her. And she knew he still wanted to be a cop. What could have made him write this sham of a note and leave it on her bedside table, disappearing into the night?
She wiped away her tears and started searching for the answers. Before the weekend was over, she would find herself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, trying to avoid the man who had forced Ryker to tell those lies. When she finally found Ryker, would he still be the same man that she loved with all her heart?
Ivy annoyed me the first time I read this. I had even less patience for her the second time around.
Original review - 4*
Another exciting read.
This book picks up exactly where the previous on left off so you really need to read them in order. After helping with the biggest case the department has known and finally being on the edge of realising his dream to become a policeman, to the extent where he finally cuts his hair Ryker packs it all in leaving Ivy a note and just disappearing. Something is obviously not right and fortunately luck is on their side, well at least for a little while. This is another exciting and entertaining read but personally I didn't like it as much as the previous one and this is mainly due to Ivy which surprised me because I really liked her in 'Affair' but taking into account Ivy's obvious intelligence I thought she might have realised immediately especially considering their last case and Rykers family now yes I know she's emotionally involved and not thinking rationally but the beginning of this book especially felt odd, the way she was with Jen for example plus I didn't like that Ivy made several silly, stupid or just ill advised decisions, and right or wrong it partly spoilt the book for me. I'm giving this book 4 stars because despite Ivy I still enjoyed this read and honestly Ivy wasn't that bad I think my expectations were just too high especially after the last one anyway this kept me entertained and up until 2am reading.
Romance trope: law enforcement Series: Unauthorized Length: 246 pages
Plot: Ryker and Ivy were both part of the undercover operation from Unauthorized Affair. They had begun a relationship, but Ryker disappeared one day with only a curt note to Ivy. In truth, he's being coerced into a dangerous scheme by a relative and . But Ivy will stumble upon the truth and both of them will have to use all of their wiles to stay safe.
Commentary: Small town, small world. All those connections, so of course Ivy and Ryker end up back in each other's orbit. Ivy's friend's friend was a mess and I'm not surprised she ended up in jail, but the friend wasn't much better. It is a little funny to me that raw recruits with little to no skills have found themselves in these dangerous situations where they absolutely dominate.
Love how Unauthorized Deception picked up right where Unauthorized Affair left off...Ryker being blackmailed by his cousin in order to help with an idiotic scheme to free Fiore Savoy was well done....I was in awe by how persistent Ivy was regarding finding out what was really going on with Ryker cause she knew he loved her and being a cop has always been his dream so there's no way he would have just left like that....Ivy finally telling Ryker those three words she never uttered "I Love You" was beautifully executed.... Jen and Hunter still secretly seeing each other until she graduates is unfair but totally understandable. Like how the previous characters make an appearance in the new series, it was like having your big brothers/sisters checking in on you once in a while after they've moved out or having your friends dropping by.....It was really great to catch a glimpse of Craig, Sara, Hawk and Vivian.....Not to forget that Ivy found her father without even starting her search, destiny brought them together and Ivy also gains a half-sister....There's never a dull moment when you're reading Lisa Ladew's novels....Five stars!!
ditched cruelly after a night of bliss....a cadet officer investigates. he lovers family has been kidnapped to force him into breaking the law. hea ending.
Lisa is a wonder at writing and she never disappoints. In this book there are things you never see coming, twists and turns that have you sitting on the end of your seat and thrills that will have you squirming. There are lots of emotions at play in this book there is loss and fears, horror and anxieties, hate and love. Our police recruits unwittingly become involved with a family of wrong doers. There is crime and drama, suspense and action, adventure and romance, intrigue and mystery, thrills and flying sparks. They are really really good stories and I highly recommend them.
Unauthorized Deception picks up right where Unauthorized Affair left off. So if you haven't read book 1 please put this aside until you do. Trust me, it's worth reading! This book features Ivy and Ryker and introduces new character who I am sure will soon be featured in future books. This book had it all; lots of great action, some unexpected surprises and just a touch of romance and one very big cliffhanger! I can't wait for the next one in the series.
I just finished and I loved it. It is book 2 of this series and a continuous story from the previous book ( so read it first). Anyway, Ivy and Duncan were becoming an item in the last book and Duncan mysteriously leaves Ivy hanging. I was shocked because you could clearly tell he was all in to her. Anyway, he of course happens to be a cousin to the Savoy's from the last book too. And they have kidnap his family. Oh girl, comes to his rescue though but its up to you to find out how she does it. Loved it!!
Lisa ladew has become my favorite author. As all her other books, this one was just as good. I love the fact that there is so many different aspects in her books. It's not just sex, it's crime, drama, suspense, action, adventure romance, mystery, thriller and sex. There are always twist and turns that keep you turning pages. The endings always leaving wanting more and eager to start reading the next book. Amazing job Lisa.
The second book in this series. The story revolves around police recruits who have unwittingly become involved with a monster family and are successful in taking them down. This story revolves around Ryker and Ivy.
These books stand alone. They are a little stilted, I am not as emotionally involved as I sometimes am. But they are good stories and I recommend them. I will buy and read the next one.
I loved this story! It is suspenseful from beginning to end. Without giving anything away, this story has one of the most dramatic turns I have read. Unauthorized Deception is definitely a story worth reading. Lisa Ladew has become one of my favorite authors.
Love this series so far! This is the second book in Lisa Ladew's Authorized Series and she has done it again. I love how Lisa paints the story to draw you in like you are in the front seat with these characters as they are going through the twists and turns of the story. Off to read the next book!
Another great book from Lisa!!! Wow is all I can say! A lot of intrigue, danger, emotion....that kept me hooked until I read the book in one sitting! A lot of open mouth, jaw dropping moments for both Ryker and Ivy!!! You will not be able to put this book down!!
I started this one this morning and read it in one day. There was a lot of action. Ryker and Ivy are truly a great couple. Love the twist and turns that this book has. You never know what to expect.
This picks up where the first book left off with Ryker leaving Ivy and no good explanation. Ryker is being black mailed into helping his criminal cousin and Ivy is doing all she can to help Ryker. It was a great suspense with a heart warming romance.
Another very good read. A great suspense and love story with interesting twists and horrifyingly real life scenarios. Ms. Ladew brings real life threats in this book that can send chills through anyone. Ivy and Rykers story is a great one that I enjoyed from beginning to end.
when I review a series I rate the books by the other books in that series. this story was 100 times better than Affair. I enjoyed this so much more and didn't feel that monotone emotion. Looking forward to Sara's story. according to the teaser I have a feeling this story is going to be a good one.
Absolutely loved this one! I loved that she never really lost faith in him; knowing he was a good guy. I loved being able to see some of the old characters some more.
