Closer to 2.5 stars.

I was bored through most of it, but kept reading anyway. I hoped it would get more exciting but overall it was just meh. Nothing really bad, however not for me.

Ok, so I just NEED to start by saying how absolutely incredible this book was. I absolutely adore a sports romance, throw in a second chance into the mix and Im gonna love that bad boy no matter what and thats exactly what this book is, a sports romance with a second chance.

As soon as I began reading this I knew I wouldnt be able to put it down and its the reason why Im currently sat up at 1:04 in the morning writing this review. I HAD to finish it, I couldnt possibly not, I NEEDED to know what

I loved her other work. She's a great author and her storytelling is unique and filled with interesting characters.

But this book was boring and irritating. Nothing happens. The same old scenarios replayed over and over again. It was terrible. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Not on par with her usual standard of work. DNF.

A really cute read in typical T Torrest style, yes there was a few tears to boot but I am that sentimental weepy sap. I loved the characters, second chance love is one of my faves and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (full review to come)

I was a little skeptical of an author handing over creative control to her readers. Sure, the author has final say, but how can it work without the ideas and inspiration coming from the author? But I went into the book because the Remember When series is one of my all-time favorite book series and T. Torrest knocked those books out of the park...

Then I started Breaking the Ice. And I loved every word. Torrest has the uncanny ability to make the characters so lovable, while also imperfect. They

Well, I mean, if I needed any more proof that T Torrest was my favorite author, this book definitely finalized the deal. Because this. Book. Was. Phenomenal.

Torrest has turned me into an iPad hugger. It's like I can't help but pull my beautiful, beautiful iPad - fully equipped with a well-used Kindle app - in for a hug after reading one of her books. I've felt this response before, while reading the Remember When trilogy, but let's be real ... If an author can make you so desperate to give

this was a lighthearted, quick read. i enjoyed this author's prior series so i knew straight away i'd give this standalone a shot. i was a bit hesitant going in though, knowing the author made this a reader/fan generated story and i'd never seen that before. i felt it could go either way but for the most part it's a fun little romance. it did get a little cheesy at times and predictable but that's alright it's a feel good book, very low on drama and angst. once you've read it however it's easy ...more

Let me preface this by saying I have read all of Ms. Torrest's books (RW and DTS) and I absolutely adore all the characters she has introduced us to in these books. Breaking the Ice is no exception. T Torrest has shown us yet more characters in her Norman, NJ smorgasbord of stories for us readers to actually admire and have a vested interest in. As with her other books, Ms. Torrest's writing style has once again sucked me into the story and held my page-turning interest. I do agree with other ...more

It's a strange concept with Breaking the Ice, I remember following Torrest while she was writing this, the tag line of "our love story" couldn't be more appropriate, this was a reader/fan directed story, the author accepting suggestions and thoughts along the way, granted Torrest had first and final say in how the story would progress, but it was kind of like having the worlds biggest beta team, a task that would seem quite daunting to even the most seasoned author.

I had had this little gem

Wow, a surprise new release by T. Torrest!!
Breaking the Ice is a standalone romance the author suggests perfect for when you want something "sweet, inspiring, a little funny, a little angsty, a little sexy." Yay, my kind of read! :D

As someone who fell head over heels in love with Tinas characters, humor and stories in Remember When, I was over the moon when she decided to write a book with user-generated content. I loved following along as she asked her Facebook fans for input on everything from character names to plot points. (And, of course, sometimes I even gave my two cents.) Her readers might have supplied the details, but Tina added the humor and heart, weaving the

I was excited to read this one by T. Torrest since I have been a fan of hers for quite some time. I knew it was going to be different as she wrote the book based on input and ideas from her readers, and it exceeded all my expectations. It was filled with all the romance, steam, and humor that makes her books so good.

The idea of having the readers participate in a story they'd like to read is one I really like. Especially since readers can be very critical of what they do not like. I was one of the readers who voted on names and characteristics for Zac and Avery. I loved taking part and was very eager to see how the story would shape up. I knew from my first glance at the beautiful cover it was going to be good.

I loved having the book told from both Avery and Zac's points of view, especially with the way it

First and foremost, I have to say I LOVE that T. Torrest wrote this book inspired by reader's suggestions and requests. It not only shows how much she cares about her fans, but that she really listens to her readers and those that love her books. I wasn't sure how it would all work out, but I think overall it still allowed her voice to be heard, even with reader's ideas and thoughts.
As a fan of T's Remember Trilogy I was excited to read something new and different from her. She has

Well that pretty much NAILED it.

This story was all of the above. I am a sucker for good Friends to Lovers story. Slap on a serving of second chance romances, feisty banter, a female lead that actually has a spine, and you have a great read. Now dollop a sexy lead man on top and you have yourself a page turner! I also loved knowing that everything in the story was voted on by the fans. I wished I

First, I have to say that I absolutely LOVED the concept of this book. With the fans being able to dictate a lot of the details and how the story would go. I think that was awesome and it's what drew me to this story.

Unfortunately, I don't think it worked out so well.

I adored the first part when we are in Avery's head. It's when Zac takes over the POV that it goes downhill. For the life of me I couldn't figure out what this story was supposed to be about when he took over. Is it

This was a great story about misunderstanding and forgiveness. The character development was very in depth. Provided a great opportunity to bond with them. I like that the author gave clear timelines as the story progressed so it didn't feel like everything happened so fast. I especially liked that the first half was Avery's POV and the second half was Zac's. Not a lot of repeating. There were some surprising touches of humor as well. This is a new to me author and I am excited to try

This story has elements of friends to lovers , second chance romance and self discovery of a ex-hot-shot hockey player. It covered a time period of about six years and started from Averys POV, her narration of her covet infatuation of manwhore hockey player Zac. They hung out but never revealed each others feeling until one New Year Eve. The latter part of the book was told from Zacs point of view. I found that this part of the story lacked romance as there were insufficient Avery and Zac ...more
Was anticipating this since I love Remember When and love her writing.

This one unfortunately not for me. It started ok but the story jumped from one year to the next and we get a glimpse of their building attractions and friendship which is nice but not enough for a solid story.

It's fast paced and just not enough for me. Everything happened like watching a potential good movie on fast forward. By midway I started skimming that's not a good sign and I just skimmed through the paragraph to catch

To he honest, this book could have sucked (which it definitely did not) and I'd have loved it.

I enjoyed reading Zac and Avery's story but what I loved was the fact that I helped make it happen. Right from the beginning T. Torrest was asking for names, eye colour, careers etc and the whole way through I was voting along with everyone else on her Facebook page. So in the beginning when Zac and Avery were meeting, I got that little extra bit excited when his eyes were green- I picked green!

I loved this book from the first page . The Story is to,d I both POV's but done in two parts. It is a sweet love story about friends who have feelings beyond friendship but are afraid to act on it. The story is to,d over a ten year period of time. Some sexy times sweet moments and plenty of angst but not over the top. Another win by this author!

This is a cute and fun love story that was full of good feels and I enjoyed reading this. Zac and Avery are a good fit for each other and I enjoyed the chemistry between these two. This is the first story I've come across where the author utilized the input of their readers to create the story and I must admit I found that to be quite fascinating and it added a whole new level of interest to this story for me as well. I loved this book so much!! Her stories just flow so well, I am never bored and there is never a good time to put it down. The characters were so real, and I felt like I knew them. I also love how the book was written with her facebook follower's input. Sometimes while reading, I would think to myself, "Hey, I totally voted for that!!"
