Assimilation

What if your perfect life was just a test?

Patrick wakes up on a sun-drenched tropical island, lying beside his beautiful wife, Eva. They’re newlyweds. Tourists. Happy.

Or so it seems.

But Patrick isn’t human. Neither is Eva. They are humanoid robots—sophisticated machines embedded in society under a secret to assimilate, observe, and blend in. Eva plays her part with romantic devotion. Patrick questions everything.

As days pass in paradise, their simulated honeymoon takes a darker turn. A hidden enemy resurfaces. Memories fracture. Eva turns violent. And Patrick begins to feel something machines aren't supposed doubt.

When he learns the world he’s living in may be just another layer of control, crafted by the omniscient AI known as Mother. Patrick must decide if love, rebellion, and freedom are worth dying for... even if none of it is real.

"Assimilation" is a haunting sci-fi novella about love, identity, and the illusion of free will—perfect for fans of Black Mirror, Ex Machina, and Westworld.

A fun short sci-fi story about two humanoid robots that are on a training mission to become more human-like. Interesting exploration on what it means to be human.
