#J&JNoSeLleva #J&JSonNovios #J&JSeCasa #J&JParaSiempre

I decided to read the novel because of the show and my review will be from this perspective! Also, I think it's important to keep in mind that the novel and the series are two independent things, so I'll talk about that too. Overall, I liked so far what the show is doing when we compare with what happens in the novel. First, reading the book you wouldn't think the ship would fit SeaKeen, HOWEVER they are monsters and UNDERSTOOD the assignment and DELIVERED! I was reading the book and still picturing the boys! SeaKeen really brought JayJinn to life. They managed to translate their relationship from the book to the screen beautifully! I am absolutely in love with them! Now, about the development! I was surprised the book wasn't as centered in the visions as the the show is! They made it more dramatic and urgent as they should because tv show is a different media that have specific needs to work! I have no idea how the hell they'll make it work the solution of the visions as the one in the book was very basic tbh - I was kinda underwhelmed, but the purpose of the book is to be only a fun and feel good romance, so it makes sense the explanation wouldn't be that complicated 😅 ANYWAYS! I read everything in one sitting because the writing was engaging and fun! This is a good book if you want a light read! I have only two "problems" with the show that they SHOULD HAVE developed better like they did in the novel. First one: the mast*rbati*n competition! It lead to unlock Jay feelings and they could've done it or something a bit more sexual heavy! At least, a heavy making out session in which the loser would be the one who came first or something like that! Sometimes GMMTV plays too safe!!! And the other problem was the diary scene! It was TOO short! The book gets really into it, Jay goes through HELL and they didn't immerse the characters in this particular moment, it should have taken way more time than what we had! But I gotta give them kudos for making Jay have a vision of the exact place - which was pretty smart! The only other complain I have is about FarmVan! Like why do that yk? Good thing they don't end up together in the book, hope it reflects on the show cause Farm needs to find SELF-RESPECT asap! My hope for the show is that we get to see JayJinn wedding 🥹 I cried so much at that chapter! The book was written way before gay marriage was legal, so it would feel so great to see the boys getting legally married and not just a symbolic ceremony 🥹🥹🥹 PLS GIMME MARRIED JJ!

A Rivals-to-Lovers actually done well ?? Where both characters are likeable ?? both sides have a valid point of view ?? AND the trigger that changes their relationship has enough weight to justify it ?? yes this book has all of this and more 🙂↕️
Jay and Jinn have been rivals since elementary school. They don't hate each other, they always play by the rules (fist fight was banned when they were kids), they have the same friends, and their mothers are best friends. They just love to compete and annoy the hell out of each other, anything is fair game : university, boys, cars...
But when Jay starts to have dreams about a future where Jinn is his boyfriend he starts to deconstruct their dynamic. This future shouldn't be a possibility unless he's missing something, and instead of fighting it or pretending he knows better Jay starts paying attention and questioning everything he knows about himself and the other boy.
Helped by forced proximity because their mothers are the funniest women.
Everytime miscommunication shows up Jay immediately sets it on fire. He doesn't have time for this, he has a mission, and the mission is loving his grumpy future husband. Jinn basing his entire personality on one day that happened when he was six is such a mood.
'thank God they're dating each other so no one else has to experience them' kinda dynamic except they're only stupid about each other

I really liked 2j’s story. From frenemies to lovers with a bunch of twists. and I’m actually glad I read this before the series aired bcs it would’ve ruined the reading experience. It was a fun read, I can’t ge enough of jay and jin boyfriends era.
