Do you like yellow socks? Afghan hounds? How about jam, or bowties, or cats? Or soup? (Who doesn't like soup?) If so, this may just be the book for you. Socks, a hound, jam, a bowtie and several more things which may be of passing interest, feature, or at least get a mention, in the cases of that greatest of detectives, Nigel Baker. When I say 'cases', I use the term in the loosest possible sense of the word. There is the odd crime, a bit of what you might call detective work, and a resolution, generally satisfactory to those concerned (except they whodunnit of course.) And when I say 'greatest of detectives' I really mean a fellow who happens to be around at the time the crime was solved. The main thing is that Nigel and his friend and chronicler, Basil, enjoy themselves along the way. And please remember, you should never judge a book by its cover. Or so they say...
