These were short devotions about the book of Proverbs. I struggled to connect with the author's writing style. For those wanting to study Proverbs or read short devotions, this book should work for you.

I ask and I received……

Life has thrown a few curve balls (actually A LOT!) my way so far this year and they all managed to hit me >>> WHAM! BAM! SMACK! >>> Right where it hurts. While struggling with decisions, needing guidance, wisdom, and most of all some peace of mind along comes this wonderful little book called “Two Minutes in the Bible(tm) Through Proverbs: A 90-Day Devotional.”

It has been a very long time since I have read any of the Bible’s Proverbs. I love how this book takes scriptures from Proverbs and divides them into short chapters which makes it simple to read on a daily basis. The author, Boyd Bailey certainly has a special way of inspiring and making me think of how each Proverb relates to my own life.

The adverse effects of those curve balls are still present in my life, however, this book has given and continues to give me some peace as it quiets my mind and lifts my spirit while I am reading, learning, thinking, and absorbing its words. Also it has fostered additional reading and study of the Bible.

Thank you God for delivering this book into my hands. Your timing was perfect.

Thank you Boyd Bailey for writing this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Proverbs is one of my favorite books of the Bible. It seems like I am always coming across new teachings for my heart and soul. This book is a nice 90 guide through this book. Each of the entries are broken into small pieces so they only takes minutes a day to study them. Through these entries the reader gain wisdom from God that they can then apply to their own lives. The author also suggests other scripture to help deepen this time with God.

I see myself returning to this study many times throughout my life.

I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me this book in exchange for my honest review.

The daily readings are very brief; however, the author has taken the time to add some additional thoughts as well as Bible verses to look up for more in depth reading. It was a nice, quick way to spend some time in proverbs every day for about three months.

My favorite devotionals add some stories of how the author, or other people, have dealt with circumstances in their lives. This does not give you that personal touch, but since it is exactly what it promises to be, I am giving it 5 stars.

First of all I want to thank Net Galley and Harvest House Publishers for making a review copy of the book available. This book will become available on August 1, 2015. You can pre-order it on Amazon or any book seller that you use.

This short little book is a very nice 90 day devotional book. It takes scriptures from Proverbs and dissects them into short chapters that will take you just a few minutes of time to read on a daily basis.

The scriptures are from the “Wisdom Literature” of Proverbs and thus provide a glimpse of wisdom lessons for your everyday life. Boyd Bailey relates how a man that he highly respected told him how he takes one proverb a day and reads through it, meditates on it, memorizes portions of it. The chapter he reads in in relation to the date of the month. Thus on the 1st day of the month he reads Chapter one.

This is an excellent method that I have used and have taught my students to use as well. It keeps you reading through the Wisdom Literature on a daily basis. It also affords you a chance to become very familiar with the book of Proverbs as you read it through twelve times in a year.

As Boyd will point out we need to keep the Word of God current in our lives. We shouldn’t just read Proverbs, but that gives us a good daily dose of scripture that we can learn from. Then during other times of the day we can study other scriptures to also gain wisdom.

His short chapters will help you focus on Proverbs, they will give you glimpses of the wisdom that is related there. He will also provide you with other scripture to read that will enhance the experience.

This is a great little booklet that you will find refreshing and useful in your devotional times.

Boyd Baily certainly has created a great reference for Christian living. I like that he used six different Bibles for his quotations instead of remaining with only one Bible and its wording. A Bible translation is what makes understanding the message easier for people. I personally drift away from the King James Version because I just can’t understand it as well, but I do know others that thrive with it. Having the various translations opens the doors of understanding God’s word much easier for the reader. I was also encouraged by the related readings each section offered. Not only were there discussions on each topic but a list of four or more related passages within the Bible were provided to further explore. The topic ranges were vast showing that the Proverb passages were not just taken for their immediate meaning but torn apart and shown how it can apply to daily living today. For instance, Mr. Baily wrote on Marriage and used his related passages and the Proverb verse to assist diving into this subject. Then we read about midlife crisis and more passages are brought to our attention. I like that we were given material that makes us really think about what we’re reading and then we think of our own lives and how it fits. I really enjoyed this source of meditating on the book of Proverbs and how it relates to our daily lives.

I received a free eBook for an honest review.
