As the conflicts in the Middle East grow in intensity, we cannot help but wonder what lies ahead for the nation of Israel and whether any of it means we are drawing closer to the last days. In their exciting new book Target Israel , prophecy experts Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson explain why Israel is at the center of God's prophetic plan for the future. As you carefully review the Scriptures with them, you'll learn about... You'll be inspired as you see how God will bring all His prophetic promises to pass, and be encouraged to share your faith with greater urgency in light of Christ's second coming.
Timothy "Tim" F. LaHaye was an American evangelical Christian minister, author, and speaker, best known for the Left Behind series of apocalyptic fiction, which he co-wrote with Jerry B. Jenkins.
He has written over 50 books, both fiction and non-fiction.
I read and loved the Left Behind books, where I first read Tim LaHaye’s work. This is a great book that breaks down Revelation and current events and makes things easier to understand. It explains a lot about the Muslim faith and their goal. We need to know that Israel belongs to the Jewish people. Fact.
Quotes from the book: “God’s promises to Abraham and Israel are unconditional and guaranteed through various covenants. A definite pattern for Israel’s future history was prophesied in Deuteronomy before the Jews set even one foot in the Promised Land.”
“There is no question that when Russia and her allies come down against Israel to wipe her out, that God will rescue her supernaturally and also prove that He is Lord of the Universe…He singles out four groups – mainly atheists and those who forget or reject God.”
We as believers should make every effort to tell people the Gospel of God’s grace so that as many people as possible will also become believers and escape the horrors of the Tribulation. This is an excellent book to show believers and non-believers what will happen – possibly very soon. There isn’t time to wait. The Rapture of the Church could happen any time, any day. We are told to keep looking up and waiting for Jesus to tell us “Come up here!”

The pretribulationist authors cover the subject of the violence in Israel in the light of Biblical prophecy. They include a chapter on the growing Russian-Islamic threat. Appendixes cover the timeline of events in the history of modern Israel and frequently asked questions about the end times. They also include a brief bibliography.
Very interesting and well laid out. I which Tim Lahaye was still alive to comment on the most recent events regarding Israel. It would be interesting to read his thoughts.

A fast-paced and remarkable survey of God’s regathering of the Jewish people to Israel in our age!
From Moses, who wrote the first five books of The Bible, to Paul, who wrote sixteen books of The New Testament, even to John who wrote Revelation these men have all been Jewish. The primary focus has been on God’s People and the nation of Israel. Tim LaHaye & Ed Hindson take a look at the absolute miracle of Israel’s existence and then take it even further to explain how Israel’s history was foretold throughout The Bible. The authors delve into Israel’s Divine Purpose and go into The Future Millennial Kingdom and The New Jerusalem. At the end they have included an Appendix “Frequently Asked Questions About Israel and the End Times. Tim LaHaye & Ed Hindson have given us an easy way to read and understand the role of the Jewish People and Israel in The Bible. I recommend this book highly.

There are many different views regarding End Times and Israel. Tim LaHaye holds the position that God is not finished with the nation of Israel. Some opponents see the Church (known as the Replacement Theology) as the people of God and therefore claim God’s blessings on the church in stead of the nation of Israel.
I am not sure if I agree with the replacement theology but I also do not want to put too much weight as LaHaye on Israel. What I do know for sure and scripture supports is Jesus is coming back. Jesus did come to Israel and we are grafted in because of the Jewish nation rejecting Christ. That should humble all people, all nations. However, that is not the case. LaHaye lays out the history of the enemies of Israel with specific dates and a brief synopsis. This I found very helpful in praying for Israel and the dire need that it is a spiritual war and needs spiritual understanding. I firmly believe that peace will only come in the middle east when Christ returns. Which LaHaye holds to that premise as well.
The nation of Israel was God's plan to bless the world with the gospel. LaHaye strongly in his book reveals how Israel has done that thru the Old Testament, with the rejection of Christ, and even today even though some may argue. The hatred of Jews and Christians is from Satan and blinds all to the truth of redemption.
LaHaye is passionate about end times and I appreciate his passion however, I do believe as a follow of Christ that end times doctrine is one that leads us to Christ, testifies of Christ, and ultimately reveals that God is judge and creator. I would like to see LaHaye put more emphasis on the Gospel and our need for the Gospel than on end times or at least balance it out. We can lose our need for the gospel and the life style of repentance when we are focused on prophecy and avoiding God's wrath and judgment.
Target Israel is a good resource among many resources. Israel's history is important for Christians as they reveal who God is and his plan for redemption.
A Special Thank You to Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
LaHaye and Hindson write this book with an introduction to their love for the Jewish people as Zionist advocates and supporters. In the beginning pages of this book, they highlight their three-fold reason for supporter Jews of every kind and the nation of Israel in particular. They recognize the historical impact America has had on Israel and note the modern challenges facing the United States. This book is designed to approach Israel from a theological base and discredit the heretical teachings of replacement theology. They believe modern Israel is the very Israel of all prophecies and that the church, as well as Christians in general, should actively support such a view and espouse it themselves. This is not the case, however, and thus the expressed need for this book.
The authors take a markedly different tone than Brueggemann does in his book, Chosen, by actively embracing Israel ethnically and religiously. They reveal how the current war is a religious war that mandates the defense of Israel by the church against anti-Jewish attacks. One example is the Arab nation, how there are both Christian Arabs and Muslim Arabs, and that the issue is not Arabs, but rather Islam. The deepest threat, according to the authors, that the Jews face is religious fanaticism.
In this work, the authors set out to show how there is a target on Israel and how it is biblical, but also how HaShem will protect Israel, and even though there will be pain, they will not be dispersed again. Further, the authors strongly support taking pro-Israel stances in both civil and religious matters, helping continue the path to the end times. They are persuasive in their approach, citing Scripture throughout, even to the point where sometimes it feels like an annotated proof of Scripture for their argument than it does an actual argument. Their argument is sound and those that are against Zionism will not find this book to be one supportive of their false beliefs.

Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson have done a great job of explaining bible prophecy in Target Israel. This book takes a look at the absolute miracle of Israel's existence and then takes it even further to explain how Israel's history was foretold throughout The Bible.
Tim and Ed also delve into the prophecies of Jesus' first and second coming showing the unique differences of the two events. I enjoyed reading this book as it refreshed my memory about many of the events that are yet to be fulfilled and the real importance of spreading the gospel to those that have yet to except Christ as their Savior.
Target Israel also explains the millennial Kingdom in a way that is very easy to understand which I am thankful for because I don't think many churches today do a lot of sermons on the subject and that is a shame because it is so interesting and gives us such hope about what is yet to come for us believers. So I would highly recommend taking the time to read Target Israel by Tim LaHaye and Ed Hindson.
