A good introduction to going gluten free, in the accessible friendly style of the for Dummies books. Most of the book is given over to recipes to cover every situation, but it starts with a clear introduction. This covers what gluten intolerace and coeliac disease are, symtoms, causes, treatment and benefits of going gluten free. A series of useful chapters follows on the foods you need to stay away from, eating out, shopping including decoding labels and storecupboard basics.

However, there are a few issues. Firstly this book is from the USA so the recipes use American measurements and the websites suggested are also American. Using conversion tables should address the measurement issue, however, the information is based on USA law. Also, labelling is different in the UK. Life has been made significantly easier for people with intolerances by the mandatory highlighting of official allergens on labels. The range has improved so much. Our health systems are different, there is no mention here of the elimination diet whereby you take all possible allergens out of your diet for a number of weeks and then reintroduce one at a time and monitor symptoms.

Wish they'd do this without the recipes, otherwise it was a good book.
