Corrigan & Co. #1

Fielding Her Secret

Rate this book
She’s always been one of the guys.

Ainsley Martin grew up beating boys at sports, and resigned herself to the fate of always being a girl friend, and not a girlfriend. Transforming from a jock to a computer nerd didn’t help her win guys, but it did get her a job with the Corrigan & Co. Foundation. As the head of computers and technology for the foundation and its secret society, she normally works behind the scenes, overseeing the rescue of women and children. But this time, Jane Corrigan needs her to be on the front lines, and it may just be her undoing. Yes, she knows football, but she doesn’t know how to handle falling in love.

He’s never had trouble getting girls into his bed.

Zack Taylor learned early on that women only wanted him for his fame. Going home with them has allowed him to take his own pleasure, while knowing his heart will never be involved. Until he mistakes a beautiful woman for a groupie and tells her to get on her knees. When she stands up to him, he knows that he has to have her. All of her. He pursues Ainsley, trying to show her he’s more than what she sees on the football field.

Someone’s trying to sabotage the Las Vegas Legions football team, and Ainsley and Zack may just become collateral damage if they’re not careful. Can they learn to trust each other or will the biggest SECRET of all destroy them both?

Crystal Perkins has always been a big reader, but she never thought she would write her own book, until she sat down in 2014 and did it. She's now published over 40 books, and has been featured in several anthologies as well.

She lived in Las Vegas for over a decade, where you could find her running author events and winning bookseller awards. She's was recently living in North Dakota to be closer to her family, but she is back in Vegas. When she's not reading a few hundred books a year or chasing after her grandson, you can find her watching hockey (Go Knights Go!) and trying to find the perfect shade of lipstick.

She loves Star Wars AND Star Trek, but if pushed to choose, it will always be Leia and her crew who come out on top. Her love of all things nerdy comes through in her book characters, no matter the genre. A mac and cheese connoisseur, she travels the world looking for the perfect version, while attending book conventions and signings as a cover for her research. Poutine research is also conducted regularly on her trips.

Her first series, The Griffin Brothers, followed four billionaire brothers, and the third book, Creating a Love, was a finalist for a multicultural award in 2014. Her second series, Corrigan & Co. featured a secret society of female spies in Las Vegas. She followed this with Society Girls, which offered a glimpse into the training of the women who are recruited into the Corrigan & Co. Foundation, and the Society. The Company Men series featured the relatives of her secret society of spies.
Activate is a Young Adult Sci-Fi standalone novel, and A Kiss Is Just a Kiss is a Romantic Comedy standalone book. If you like something darker, you can find her Horror short stories in the Never Fear anthologies!

She’s currently writing about modern day witches in her Burn series, and bridesmaids for hire who solve mysteries in The Maids! In 2020, she will also be starting a hockey novella series.

This was just brilliant. I really enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down once I started it. Wish I actually started it early. Glad I finally started it. Zach is sexy as hell and Ainsley is just brilliant and sexy in a nerdy way. These 2 are very hit together. They have there ups and down and I actually didn't think they could have a relationship. They both find it hard to trust. Girls wants to be with Zach cause he plays football. Ainsley as never been popular but great at sports and computer so she didn't think she could keep a guy like Zach interested. They r great couple they just need to trust each other. I m sorry for the short review. I m just dyin to carry on with this series. After reading the epilogue. Give my Faith and Gavin now ;) xxx

I was graciously gifted a copy from the author. I want to sing Crystal's praises! This is going to be another exciting series.
I love "The Society" as they like to refer to themselves. The Corrigan Foundation has a wonderful purpose.
Ainsley seems to think she is less-than others and only credits herself with her awesome computer skills. It seems that there is a lot more to Ainsley than even she thinks. Ainsley is very intelligent, but she is pretty, kind, caring and loves with her whole heart. Ainsley is a bad ass, but she is still all woman. I loved that she won't accept less than she feels she is worthy of. Ainsley will not compromise her morals and ethics. This is such an important lesson for all young women to learn. Ainsley is selected for a mission because of her love for football and is thrown into the world of Zach Taylor.
Zach is the polar opposite of Ainsley. Zach is the biggest man-whore and disgusting flirt. Wow! Zach is so full of himself and just knows that he can have any woman he wants without having to ask! He plays the field and thinks it is perfectly acceptable. Or does he? Could there be more to Zach than meets the eye? When he meets Ainsley he treats her the same as one of his groupies and finds out right away that Ainsley isn't going to fall to her knees like all of Zack's other groupies!
Will Ainsley be able to help the Las Vegas Legions Football team? Will Ainsley be able to help Zack find his true self? Will Ainsley be able to stay true to herself?

3.5 stars!

I've been collecting the Griffin Brothers series and had intended for Gaming for Love to be my intro to Crystal Perkins' work. But that all changed when I won an event prize copy of books 1 and 2 in this undercover series. I was charmed by the quick pacing, clue sleuthing and highly romantic development between computer whiz Ainsley Martin and football player Zack Taylor. It was fun to be Ainsley and bounce back and forth emotionally as she and Zack grew closer.

Favorite quote:
'You really are every minute of my every day.' ~Zack

I read this one in one day (rare for me) and dove right into book 2. I'm hooked!

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

Fielding Her Secret by Crystal Perkins, is the first book in her new Corrigan & Co. Series. She started this series out with a bang. I loved it! What is better than kick butt woman that can do things better than men! They don't need men to take care of them. We need strong women in our books.

So, we start out this series with a hot football and a tomboy computer nerd. A very unlikely pair, right? Leave it to Perkins to make them perfect for each other! Ainsley, has always been just one of the boys. She felt she was headed to a life of always being just one of the guys, and never a girlfriend. Zack has always been a player on and off the field. Knowing that all the women only wanted him for his fame or money, he never let his heart get involved.

When Ainsley goes undercover to see who is sabotaging the team Zack plays football for they both get more than they bargained for! Zack finds someone that doesn't take any crap from him, doesn't just fall at his every whim.

Ainsley goes through a complete transformation, she is undercover, after all. She dresses sexier, she lets her hair down, puts in contacts, and that once ugly duckling is now a beautiful swan. She turns a lot of heads, Zack's head is one of them! Zack is enamored with her. She is different than other women, his fame and money doesn't impress her at all. Has he finally met his match? Has she finally met someone who won't be intimidated that she is a bad a$$?

Well you know there are twist and turns, not everything will go smoothly. She is out to find who is sabotaging the team, so a little suspense and mystery is thrown in this book.

In my honest opinion, I give Fielding Her Secret 5 stars!

A thoroughly enjoyable read and I loved Zack, the bad ass, famous playboy football player who Ainsley, a computer nerd working for 'The Society' gets a little hot and bothered by ;-) although he had his moments, a total player and one of the boys around his team mates and occasionally off the field too. Sometimes, it takes men time to grow up!!

Now this is the first in the new series from Crystal and lays the groundwork to the society, what a creation!!. It is a secret society, run by women, but there are a few well placed tottie working in with them. Well it would be rude not to.

A great read as the Society adds a little something, we get a bit of mystery, a 'whodunnit' crystals angels of sorts with our romance and all with kick ass girls running the show. I can't wait to see what Girl we have up next and whose butt she is going to be kicking.

Ainsley and Zack meet when she is undercover looking to find out who is sabotaging the football team that Zack plays for. During her investigation, Ainsley falls for Zack and finds herself in unfamiliar territory. Both of them make multiple mistakes throughout the book, and trust issues abounded. When the case comes to a close, Zack finds out about Ainsley's secret work and why she was with the team. Zack then has to search for a way to forgive her for her deceptiveness and his lack of faith that another woman wasn't just using him for something. It had a good ending and sets up the next book in the series.

A handsome football star & a nerdy computer genius can't quite get it right but don't want to give up either. Persistence and undefined feelings help get them through missteps, miscommunications and just plain out right screw ups. Throw in a little mystery and suspense along with some smoldering sex scenes and you have the makings of a good book!

It's actually the first time I've read anything from Crystal Perkins.
While I didn't absolutely love the book, I wasn't repelled to her books. In fact, I've already finished the 2nd and the 3rd ones from this series and planning on reading the Griffin Brothers AND Society Girls.

Anyway back to the book and the characters.

I liked Ainsley quite a lot, I thought it was nice that the spy isn't going on a mission and sleeping with everyone to get her information. Granted she did sleep with Zack but still she didn't flirt with everyone around...
As for Zack, well... He was an assh***. But you get to like him more and more.

There was quite a few things that I didn't like about this, that's why I gave it 3 stars.

First, can someone explain to me why every time (and I mean EVERY time) they break up it's for the same fu**ing reason? Like Ainsley will be "He's such a player, he will never change" and she starts crying (seriously can't she strong when she's the one breaking up???). Or Zack will be "I don't understand what I did wrong. Well I'll go back to my old self to get on her nerves".

Anyway, their reason for getting back together is worst than the breaking up one...

Moreover, why is it a spy book book when she doesn't even try to find the culprit? She found who is it because the culprit tells her. Apparently she was close to founding out who was behind everything.
Please she didn't do much except believing it was Zack and sleeping with him.

But I suppose the good counter balanced the bad since I've decided to give her books an other chance =).

I really liked the different POVs. It helped to understand each character and it was just plain nice to know their feelings.
The writing was quite good (not the best one but I'm not someone who can talk ^^). The only thing I have to say about it: sometimes she changes the POV in the middle of a sentence. I don't think it intentional, and maybe it the editing on the e-book I own, but it was weird.

As an overall, this book wasn't as good as I expected it to be but it was a nice read.

I normally wouldn't recommend this book. But since I've read Faith and Gavin's story, and you need to read at least part of Ainsley and Zack's story to fully understand it, I'll say go get your copy and read it =).

I thought this was a fantastic start to a series and kind of first book of a series that makes you want to rush out and buy each additional book in the series. The premise of a strong group of women working together to help other women in need was pretty awesome. I loved how C0rrigan & Co was a secret covert company along the same lines as the underground railroad but it saved women from sticky situations or abusive relationships.

Zack is the kind of hero that most women would fall for. He is athletic and romantic. He was romantic in an over the top way that made him really endearing. I didn’t initially care for him because he was a pig and pretty much only care about getting laid.

Ainsley was a pretty sweet character. She was a total computer geek who did not know how gorgeous she was. She did not trust many people and took her job very seriously. I loved how she interacted with her friends from work and how well they protected her. She had a built-in family. I was a bit bothered how down she was on herself. For working with a group of strong women she seems to have lost confidence in herself.

I liked how the book had a bit of intrigue and suspense. The reader met all the secondary characters and you could see how future books would come about. It made me want to go read all the rest of the books written by Crystal Perkins. The thing that made it a 4 rather than 5 rated book is the constant over-thinking and feeling of doubt from Ainsley. It got a bit old. Otherwise the book was very well written and I look forward to future books in the series.

FIELDING HER SECRET by Crystal Perkins
*was generously given a copy in exchange for an honest review

FIELDING HER SECRET by Crystal Perkins is a little gem. The 1st book in her new Corrigan & Co. Foundation series is a mix of Charlie’s Angels meets New Adult romance and I cannot wait to read more. Sssshhhh! I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Meet “the Society”. The Society is a secret group of women that aid in the rescue of women and children and all kinds undercover work that comes their way. So, not only do we get a romance but the series is laced with a who-done-it mystery!

FIELDING HER SECRET focuses on a computer nerd in the Society name Ainsley. Ainsley is super smart and a lot tom boy but with a little help from her friends, she goes from computer nerd to beauty queen with a change of wardrobe. Looking for a sabotager, she turns the head of many but makes the world stop for Zack, a big time football player on the team the Society is watching over.

To say that I hated Zack at first is an understatement, I mean he had serious commitment issues and I am pretty sure douche came to my mind a few times. Through lots of time spent together and friendship, which was refreshing, Zach turns around and well, you just have to read it to see what happens next.

Lots of banter, mystery and football fun makes FIELDING HER SECRET by Crystal Perkins a solid fun read that will leaving you wanting more. New and refreshing concept with strong women at the lead.

FIELDING HER SECRET receives a solid 4 stars.

This book just an okay for me, the cover looks good tho (good enough to lure me to buy LOL)

The plot is okay but I'm quite disappoint for the story line, it's like the Author don't know how the secret service agency works. Okay, the story tell us the agents had train all of the kind of spy mojo but it didn't show any spy action in this book except some scene that maybe the Author want us to know that the h is working but that's all we got.

The big flaw in this book is the h Character.

And the suspense is very little compare to the mess that h and H do for each other.

The saving grace of this book (and maybe this series) is the epilogue, I feel it had a potential to be a better that this book. So, I will give this Author another chance when I have time :)

First I just want to say how much I LOVE this cover. Zack is definitely a total hottie and this cover really captures his hotness.

This book was awesome! I love delving in deeper into the secret society which was introduced in the Griffin series. What this society does for women is pretty cool,

Ainsley and Zack definitely have their up and downs throughout the book and occasionally talk without thinking. I really like how the story flowed and how each of them were able to move pass some of their insecurities.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. The small glimpse I read in the epilogue of this book about Faith and Gavin definitely makes me eager to read their story.

Once again Crystal did a fabulous job writing this book and capturing the emotions of the characters. Crystal does a fabulous job balancing emotions, tension and hotness in all of her books.

I loved this book! The story flowed well, I loved the drama that was throughout the book as well as the whole book focussing around football.
I adored Ainsley, especially as she is a geeky girl who loves sports and was a Tom boy growing up. She wasn't noticed very well, until she gets her assignment.
Zack... He was adorable! I loved how he was a playboy, but all playboys are hiding something. He is a superb football player, but someone is trying to harm the team.

I loved the angst, the steam between Zack and Ainsley, the interaction between the secondary characters and the whole secret assignment idea.
This book grabbed me straight off and I couldn't stop reading until I'd finished! I can't wait to read more from Crystal!

Starting a new series is always fun, you jump in with no expectations and hope for the best. Well Crystal has nailed it, she has created a world that is already fully formed. There are snippets of the lives of the people who already have established relationships. And we are getting the opportunity to know the people in Corrigan & Co.
Fielding Her Secret is the story of Ainsley (love the name) and Zack, she is your everyday nerdy girl computer tech secret agent, while he is the typical professional football womanizer. I really didn't want to like Zack from the very beginning, he is a JERK, but he owns up to it and although he screws up A LOT, you want them to be together.
I am eager to read the remaining books in the series and to learn more about "the girls".

I enjoyed it and will definitely read the rest of the series but I did have a few issues.
I loved the plot and the background. I loved the computer geek, sports aficionado that is Ainsley (I particularly want her new workroom - I love my own, but reading that nearly has me want to redesign). Zack is the typical alpha male manwhore.
My problem is that she waivers too much between strong and insecure ... and he is all too much retaliate when not getting his own way by throwing his whorishness in her face to make her jealous and then apologising and then repeating the whole thing. It just seemed too many times to expect that he could earn her trust, but that is just my way of thinking

I loved this book SO much!! It had a great story to it and the Griffins are still mentioned which made me really happy. There's so many of them at the foundation and they're all great people whose stories I can't wait to read! Ainsley and Zack were the cutest people ever and I'm still OMGing over the binary code thing he made for her. All is well except the fact that the more I read, the more I freak out over Matt and Reina. Overall it's a great book and worth reading!

I was really grateful for an opportunity to read Fielding Her Secret. However, I just couldn't get into this book . I had a difficult time relating to the missions and the characters. The characters appeared to be petty and immature. I would love to give this book a higher rating but it just didn't do it for me. I wish the author, Crystal Perkins the best.

36% in and the main characters have already had multiple misunderstandings and insulted each other many times. And as usual with this author the male decides he's going to tell the woman he's going to go screw someone else even tho he won't. I'm expecting 100 more misunderstandings, threats, and insults. Unfortunately this will be my last book by this author. As good as the overall plot line is, it's exasperating to have every single book have the exact same emotional dance. I was hoping it was just in the one series but I was wrong.
