This was an amusing, if somewhat shallow read. It's action packed and never seemed to lag, despite being quite long. So, my main take-away is that I had fun with it. But that doesn't really negate the fact that the characters were not fleshed out; not one of them had any history at all. The romance came out of nowhere and was wholly unsupported. Plus, there was absolutely no chemistry between the characters, even if I did like them both and liked them together. The point of view was

During an interstellar fleet battle, a group of Stellar Union marines are sent on a desperate mission to destroy a key ironclad and allow the retreat of the mauled Stellar Union fleet. From this dramatic opening combat scene there is nonstop action as one adventure follows another leading to a remarkable climax.

This is a well-written book with engaging characters, and is filled with imagination, courage, and plot twists. The author imbues the combat scenes with authenticity. If you enjoy Science

My fellow MHS alum wrote this book - his second, I believe- and I was happy to review it for him. I do want to note that Jason was my Secret Santa in show choir and he made me some delicious mini cheesecakes. This was over 25 years ago, but I still remember those cheesecakes. Beginning with a multiple-weapon-firing detonation of an enemy ship, the story of Kate ...more

Military Steam Punk

In most steam punk novels the action takes place on a. Earth where steam powered vehicles are still used. This takes place on another world and is military story too.

Excellent story

Very well thought out plot. Ending was perfect. Character development placed all emphasis on the theme of a quest. Quite clever method of storytelling. Enjoyed the trip.

Fun story! Some 2D characters, but that's ok because it worked. Needs another pass through the ol' spellchecker/proofreader ("every-changing" etc.).

Very quick read for me. Had a good plot with interesting characters, plenty of action, humor, deception, and a little bit of romance. What more could you ask for in a sci-fi book?
