Here, the diction and tone seem a bit staid but, the content is well-balanced (and the text contains very little political-correctness). Personally, its many photo-reproductions of stained-glass art (depicting the Madonna and Child) and wood-cuts (depicting medieval scenes) remain this work's strongest point; although the single-page renderings of legends such as the "Christmas Spider" and "The Rose" stand the effort in good stead, too. Most suitable for 8-12-year-olds.

Too detailed for a preschooler's attention span. Interesting information about the background of some customs.
