This was my first Connie Mason, and I have 4 others on my shelf, but I won't be getting to them anytime soon if this book was indicative of her general quality. I don't mind the sex - I cut my romance teeth on Bertrice Small - but there was no spark to any of it. It was as if quantity was substituted for quality, and during one of the many many "silver balls" moments, I found my mind wandering and imagining that Jamal was rotating Zara's hips like one of those wooden box maze puzzles. When that ...more

Soooo... This was my last Connie Mason try, 2 is too much. To give you guys the reasons:
-the writing is so flowery it gave me a headache and diabetes;
-there are a few gigantic plot holes, one of them: how did the dude inherit an Earldom when his mom was the hires and his dad was Arab[not the earl]
-the characters were... better we don't mention them.

How I felt while reading the book:
Rabbit {Paint me like one of your 19th century gothic heroines!}
Rating: 2.5

Disclaimer: Snark and gifs

I can't stop laughing at the cover. He looks like a dark featured Fabio.

I kept thinking where is the safe word, with all this talk of submission.

It also seems like every guy in this novel is hung like a horse. LOL

I'm sitting here watching the curser blink, but this book pretty much is what I imagine contain enough eroticism and exoticism and wish fulfillment that you would expect from Connie Mason, and the title/cover alone.

By order of the sultan, Sheik Jamal is sent to stop the raids of the Berbers on trade caravans. During the battle the chief of the tribe is able to escape but his daughter, Zara, is captured. (Zara's fiancé is also killed but that's not important. Mason heroines waste absolutely no time mourning the dead.) Zara's superpowers reside within her breasts. Her nipples are referenced at least thirty times in this book. That's a lot of nipple.

There are plenty of sex scenes (bathing scenes are a close s

I love this book as soon as I started this book I could not put it down. The description she used was wonderful, it has everything to deceit, to fights and a chase to find his love and great Connie Mason love scenes. This was a good an entertaining book...

If you like Connie Mason you'll love this book I don't know about a first timer they always try to leave a bad review when reading a Connie Mason novel for the first time

Holy silver balls batman! Sheik Jamal sure loves to use them. This book wasn't very descriptive or engaging. I was tempted to start skimming through the paragraphs around page 400, but those silver balls kept me going to the end.

Morocco, 1673

Good story. Was odd knowing that had this been real times the Sultan would not have put up with the Sheiks mistakes. Bt hey, it's fantasy romance. I had almost forgot how intense CM's romance scenes could be, lol. There was just a bit too much for me, but hey still nice. And makes you curious about those silver balls. As I heard on another review, Holy silver balls Batman! LOL. Just about as hot as the pearl necklace scene in All Night With A Rogue by Alexandra Hawkins. While I don'

A little fast paced near the end but, all in all, a good book. It gives the reader a bit of Islamic culture mixed in with Connie Mason's usual romance, drama, and adventure.

Sheik Jamal is summoned by the sultan of Morocco to capture Youseff the berber sheep herder who is raiding his caravans. Instead Jamal captured youseff's daughter, Zara. From the time he laid eyes on her he is smitten. Zara is the enemy and he will have to get rid of her sooner or later but before that he just needs to taste one sample of her body.

Zara is the berber princess. She is fierce, wild, tempestuous and a warrior. She will be no man's slave. But spending time with Jamal in his palace an

Awful

I do not know where to start! This book is so bad it's comical! I could write paragraph after paragraph as to the absurd content and dialogue, but it dawned on me that this book is not about the plot or dialogue at all.....it's strictly a rated R books describing sexual acts to arouse the reader period! It is erotic and vividly describes various sexual positions and situations. So if you're looking for content do not expect a historically accurate fiction romance! The dialogue is ridiculous

This book like all of Connie Mason's books was great. It's just that I wish authurs would start to take a different aproach can you write a book to see if the sweet submission girl can get the warrior just as the spirted girl can. the woman in most of the books are so spirted and headstrong that they make the men seem weak at times. But nobody spend a tale like Commie Mason. But I have read lots of books and the spirted girl get the warrior what about the smart sweet girl. I think Connie Mason c ...more

Brilliant book I really enjoyed, this was the first novel I had read by Connie Mason, but I know it will not be the last,good story mixing actual historical fact with the story of our hero and heroine,the only "downside" to the book was it finished to abruptly, I thought another chapter or so would have ended the book a little better? but Hey! I'm no writer and I still enjoyed the fast paced love story.

I liked the storyline but at times it seem it just went on to long. He was a pirate and fell in love with the kings enemy. Okay that was really good what happen between H and h. Almost to end you find out more about his past and then a whole new story about that. I just lost interest after awhile. I love mason books and would recommend but sometimes you just have to cut some things out. I feel this book was longer then it needed to be.

Y'all I read this when I was uh...13? 14? It was Young Me's favorite Romance and I checked it out so many times when I was in middle school/high school (I worked at the library) that I probably was single-handedly responsible for keeping it in the system. I'm very tempted to go back and read it and see what Current Me thinks. Young Me would give this a 5 star rating, but I have no idea how Current Me would feel about it so uh. I'll reserve star judgment for now.

Zara is a Barber princess who is captured by Sheik Jamal after a disastrous raid. Now his slave, Jamal is intent on making her his in every way.

This one didn't have as much humiliation/oppression as I would have expected. The story has lots of twists and turns with one obstacle after another being thrown in the path of love. Pretty good read.

The story was nice. But both Jamal and Zara lost too much. How could there be a happy ending when they had to leave their home - the sand, the gardens, their palace, the sun and camels for the rainy and foggy England. I didn't like the end.!!!!

Love the story but names are a big deal for me when I read and while i get the placement that the plot is taking place in which once again i love the names could've been better chosen and it was hard for me to get past them.

Just reviewing it for pornographic content... so far, lots. I think I'd rather read Henry Miller. I am apparently not of the temperament of the intended demographic.
