How to Talk to Anyone without Masking: A Real-World Guide for Neurodivergent People to Reduce Anxiety, Quiet Self-Doubt, and Connect—Without Pretending to be Someone Else by Brenda
Emerson is a great resource for anyone who is neurodiverse who wants to be able to authentically talk to others.

In this book Emerson connects with you by sharing various scenarios of conversations that cause many neurodiverse and Autistic adults to experience anxiety.

After establishing a connection with you. Emerson explains that you are not at fault for feeling anxious about interacting with neurotypicals. The reasons she shares includes that our minds are wired differently than our neurotypical peers along with years of being told we were “too much” or “too weird” by others and society,

After establishing a connection with you, the reader, and explaining it is not your fault. Emerson reassures you that this is not going to be the typical book that addresses the topic of communication with others that is written for allistics, this book is written with practical advice for anyone who is neurodiverse including anyone who is Autistic, ADHD or both AuDHD.

Spoiler alert – Emerson keeps that promise.

In this book you will find strategies to build your confidence in communicating with others and how to read the room (meaning how to know when you are in a professional setting vs a causal gathering)

In the chapter starting a conversation without fear you will learn some strategies on how to start or strike up a conversation with others.

Emerson’s book also helps you create strategies that will enable you to create authentic communications with others.

Some of the best advice, which is not given in a preachy or condescending way, is how to bounce back when you have a fail in communicating with others along with strategies on how confidently incorporate your neurodiversity into conversations and relationships and how to advocate for your neurodiverse needs in conversation.

This book has the potential to help many neurodiverse individuals experience less loneliness in their lives with the potential to develop a few authentic friendships with others who understand and respect our needs.
