Dulci's Legacy is a great mix of traditional YA elements - a love interest, teenage concerns, plausible dialogue between young friends - and real literature, with a strong nod to setting, via place (Nova Scotia) and weather, historical context and thematic concerns such as white people's influence on and treatment of indigenous peoples. The novel's plot is driven via supernatural elements, which usually aren't my thing, but in this book, I felt compelled to read the next chapter to find out they ...more
