This book offers all the information anyone would ever want and perhaps more on the country of Germany up to the mid to late 1990s. I am surprised to find it quite useful due to my studying of Business Administration in college, as it had a fair amount of information on Germany's economy, job markets, labor unions, and educational institutions. It reinforced what I learned in my classes. Germany is also one of the leading trading partners of the United States as well as Europe, so this was a good educational supplement to my field of study. Otherwise, I don't recommend reading this book cover to cover to anyone unless they are a super reader or really want to learn everything they ever wanted to know about Germany. It wasn't terribly boring, its just not meant to be read like a novel.
