This book, although from 1993, gives an accurate brief outline of the history of Germany, reaches into the unification process introduced by the Fall of the Wall in 1989 and portrays life, tradition and culture of the Federal States of Germany, the political system, geography and has ample photos portraying Germany.
This book offers all the information anyone would ever want and perhaps more on the country of Germany up to the mid to late 1990s. I am surprised to find it quite useful due to my studying of Business Administration in college, as it had a fair amount of information on Germany's economy, job markets, labor unions, and educational institutions. It reinforced what I learned in my classes. Germany is also one of the leading trading partners of the United States as well as Europe, so this was a good educational supplement to my field of study. Otherwise, I don't recommend reading this book cover to cover to anyone unless they are a super reader or really want to learn everything they ever wanted to know about Germany. It wasn't terribly boring, its just not meant to be read like a novel.
