"If you were just happy from the day you were born, how would you ever know? How would you appreciate how good life could be if it had never been crap."Life has been looking up for Polly. She's in a steady, loving relationship with the American, Huckle. She's settled into the beautiful seaside town, Mount Polbearne, and has her wonderful business to attend to, a little bakery on Beach St.
I thought this was a good followup to book one...but it did follow the trope of completely ruining the first ending by undoing so many of the 'good' things.
“I don’t know why they say love means never having to say you’re sorry,” said Polly suddenly. “I think it means having to say you’re sorry A LOT.”
