Treacherous Freeman was never given a fair chance in life from the day he was born. Never having the opportunity to know his biological mother, he was raised by his father, who happened to be a notorious gangster. Deprived of a normal childhood, his father educated him on what awaited him on the streets of Virginia. When the time comes for Treacherous to make some sudden decisions, he has no idea they will land him in the very place that he is trying to avoid. Teflon Jackson is a beautiful woman who is the end result of a horrible union. Having a loving mother who was a prostitute and a pimp for a father, Teflon's childhood was far from a fairytale. Bearing witness to the abusive relationship between her parents, Teflon was determined not to follow her mothers footsteps. Tragedy strikes and Teflon finds herself having to utilize all of the tricks that her mother taught her after she is forced into the streets to fend for herself. Years later, Treacherous and Teflon's paths cross. What starts out as a potentially bad situation genuinely blossoms into a bond that becomes unbreakable. Ride or Die Chick: The Story of Treacherous and Teflon is about two people who come from nothing and are willing to sacrifice anything to gain everything. This is a modern day tale of Bonnie & Clyde and built on a love that is stronger than that of Romeo and Juliet. A bonafide gangster, Treacherous is confident that he can't lose, as long as he has his Ride or Die Chick!

Bonnie and Clyde who? You mean Treacherous and Teflon right
This is the first book I have read by JM Benjamin and I must say I was hooked from page one. I was so into this book I have to pick up his previous works to see what I have been missing. JM has made a believer out of me!!!!!
JM takes us to the past to explain how Treacherous aka Treach and Teflon became the people they are today. They both have had horrible experiences in the childhood. At the age 12 ½ Treach gets caught slipping and is sentenced to 5 and half years in the juvenile system. Teflon has her share of heartbreak also, at the tender age of eight Teflon, witness her mother's murder at the hands of her father. After Teflon is shuffled from foster home to foster home, she meets her ex-boyfriend and ends up in a world of trouble resulting in her getting sentence to sixteen months in the juvenile system. Thus brings the story of Treacherous and Teflon.
Treacherous and Teflon is without a doubt a love story of two kindred souls who find one another and wreck hell on anybody who tries to stop their love. They live by the code of the streets take no prisoners. They have the streets of VA on lockdown. No one is safe in the streets of VA By hook or crook if these two want it, it is theirs period. In this story we see a deadly combination that will leave you saying Bonnie and Clyde who? They vow never to go to jail again thus if it comes to it, they will hold court in the streets. See if this unstoppable team makes it big time.
I liked this book, hence the three stars but there were some things about it that just left me feeling unsettled at the end. I think I understand what the author was trying to accomplish at the end with Richie trying to accept his role in how Treacherous turned out but it was kind of lame. Richie is so gangster, he can't show any emotion no matter how much it hurts? That's not a real man, that is a robot. Treacherous was doomed from birth and that is sad. Teflon, which is the dumbest name in an urban book to date, didn't have a bright future either and the two of them together are just a mess. I liked the drama and the character development but the editing needs work and the ending was flat.
Treacherous Freeman lost his mother at an early age and watched his dad go to prison. Treacherous quickly turned to a life of crime as a way to survive the streets. After witnessing her mom get killed by her dad, Teflon Jackson was forced to grow up fast in the mean streets of Virginia. After meeting in a Juvenile Detention Center, and sharing their stories with each other the two of them became inseparable. In an effort to survive they turn to what they know best … wreaking havoc.
Will Treacherous & Teflon take crime sprees too far? Will they be able to turn their lives around before it’s too late? Would their love be able to survive it all?
I have heard the term Ride or Die used numerous times in my life, but I wonder do people really understand the responsibilities that come with the term “Ride or Die”. In my opinion, Ride or Die is having someone’s back no matter what the situation calls for. Treacherous & Teflon love for each other sums up the definition of “Ride or Die”.
I was very surprised that I haven’t read a JM Benjamin book before this selection. I guess I felt familiar with JM Benjamin because of his statuses on my Facebook Timeline. I often refer to him as, “THE AUTHOR THAT NEVER SLEEPS…” After watching promos for Ride or Die Chick 3, I was bitten by the curiosity bug and decided to buy Ride or Die Chick 1 & 2. After reading this selection in less than 24 hours, I was upset with myself for not reading it sooner.
I love the fact that JM Benjamin is able to tell a complete story without being too wordy. This is a gritty tale mixed with a love story that is very believable. This author does an excellent job giving his readers the complete back story of each character. I love reading a book with SOLID writing. Even if you don’t agree with what the characters are doing, this author writes in such a way that makes you care about each character and their story. I can’t wait to read Ride or Die Chick 2 & 3
Ride or Die Chick 3 will be released November 26th, so if you haven’t read 1 & 2 – click on the links below and be prepared to be BLOWN AWAY…
There are many edition of this book . mine had up to 265 pages , let me tell you I was hook from the very first page I could not stop reading at all .The development of the plot was fast paste it was a nice surprise to have learned about the both backgrounds at different times and not all in one place . to have that kind of automatic gangster love and feel in the words J.M.Benjamin was putting down I felt like a real live movie was playing in my head, but the ending had me and I can not wait to pick put the second book
This is a pretty good book - it was definitely good enough that I'll check out Benjamin's other books at some point. I would give it a 3.5 though instead of a 4. The story was pretty good if a bit unrealistic but that's where the drama comes in with this and it's used very well. I absolutely loved the ending - that was by far the best part in my opinion. I really can't say much more because I hate spoilers and I wouldn't want to ruin it for anyone. I didn't love but didn't dislike the beginning - there was a huge chunk that had nothing to do with Treach and Teflon but with Treach's parents. I know we were being given background and all that but the story is about Treach and his girl Teflon, not their parents. There was a little about Teflon's parents and then a decent sized portion about Treach's childhood, then a little about Tef's. I guess I feel like that could have been a litle shorter because since it was as long as it was, we got less of the actual story between the two main characters. And the characters, and their story, are great and I wanted more. I know there will be a sequel but a sequel shouldn't really be needed should it? In the end, it is still a very good book. I'm looking forward to the sequel though - I want to know where he's going to take the story after the ending in this one. Oh - someone might want to let Benjamin and Flowers In Bloom know that: 2 black girls, 1 white girl, and 1 Hispanic girl = 4 girls. Not 5. Minor but annoyed the hell out of me the whole time.
SPOILER ALERT!! Wow. Did not see that coming. I see how Treacherous thought Teflon was dead. But now he's dead, and she's pregnant. So whatever plan she had to join Treacherous is going to have to wait. Looking forward to reading the next part.
My first novel by this author. I fell in love with this well written story. I was waiting anxiously for part 2. Read that now im still waiting for pt. 3
Great read! I felt myself being pulled into the story in sync with the characters. I felt their pain and frustration throughout the story. My heart was in distress as it ended. If a book can hold my attention from beginning to end it's a good read. Kudos to J M Benjamin. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I already have II and III waiting for me.
It held my attention the storyline was on point but could have went deeper … Wasn’t feeling the end because it’s a 4 part series and I feel like too much happened too soon … Ordering the other 3 parts today so I can get through this series …. I like the author J.M Benjamin style of writing so I definitely will be reading other books of his
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Why did it switch from thirteen to twelve because in the beginning of the first chapters there was a part where his dad was but then his dad is missing for the rest of his life when he was twelve. Like how did that situation happen when his dad wasn’t even there, what was the point?
"All I need in this life of sin, is me and my girlfriend. Down to ride 'til the very end, it's me and my boyfriend..."
This urban tale falls somewhere between a love story and a gritty drama. Treacherous and Teflon are two lost souls that manage to find and complete each other. Both having previous run ins with the law, they meet at a youth detention facility after an explosive introduction and just seem to click. The two combine their creative and criminal minds to wreck havoc on the streets. No hustler is safe.
The '08 Bonnie and Clyde , Treach and Tef...
This creative, well-plotted novel will captivate readers from beginning to end. Benjamin deftly builds character, story and tension. "Ride or Die Chick" makes for a good read.
This book got off to a slow start, but when it finally picked up the story was good. The characters, Treacherous and Teflon, both came from rough backgrounds, but I thought the author did a poor job of creating Teflon's history. Why was she in foster care, when did she leave, and how did she remain in the streets, although in state custody, without being found? The end was quite predictable, especially with the way the book started. The story was written in such a way, though, that led to me wanting to know how it got to that ending. So, it worked out. On to part two...
What is a ride or die chick? Do you know the requirements? Are you really a ride or die chick?
Treacherous and Teflon are a modern day Bonnie and Clyde. Their background is a background you have seen or heard before. The plight to leave it behind the same but the methods of leaving, not for the faint of heart. Teflon and Treacherous are not your average youngsters in love, really nothing average about them at all. Take a seat, strap in and enjoy the ride.
This was a pretty good story sans the intimate scenes between Treach & Teflon. Those scenes were too long and actually detracted from the story which had detailed imagery.
Aptly named characters were the ying and yang to one another and lived life on their own terms. Neither had much of a choice about fulfilling their destiny. I rate it a 3.5
I enjoyed this book a whole lot I thought I knew of some dirty people but wow Teflon and Treach definitely got that award lol. This book is real and it gives us a look at a modern day Bonnie and Clyde. Exciting and fast paced I couldn't put it down I inhaled this one in half of a day.
I gotta say it is much more adventurous than I expected. Getting how became to be as the of the series was defined really well. Every now and then I figured out what was gonna happen before it did but it all blended in really well. Looking forward to 2
Honestly I stopped at ch.6. because I just couldn't take what I was reading seriously. I gave 2 stars because I didn't bother to finish. Whenever I talk about the little parts I managed to read to others, they roll on the floor laughing at the details.
This was a cross between Romeo and Juliet and Bonnie and Clyde with a gangsta twist. They outsmarted everyone until the end. Look forward to reading part 2.
