You know the universe is infinitely complex—but do you know why?
You know bad things happen to good people—but do you know why?
As a pastor for over three decades, Dillon has seen it all. He’s counseled the brokenhearted, celebrated the hopeful, and wrestled with the big questions that keep us up at night.
After all this, he’s come to a surprising the key to unlocking the greatest mysteries of the universe isn’t knowledge—it’s grace.
Sure, knowledge can tell us what the universe is like, but grace tells us why. Yes, life can seem arbitrary, even futile, but once again, grace tells us why.
If you’ve ever struggled to reconcile faith with reality, wrestled with uncertainty, or simply longed for meaning in a world that often feels like a cosmic coin toss, grab your copy of Randomness Happens for a Reason and discover how the “why” changes everything.
On this journey, questions about the random nature of life take center stage. Is randomness the blind director of unplanned marvels, as some assume? Is it a mere facade, adding a layer of mystery to God’s true intent, as others assert? Or is it the practical extension of God’s grace, setting the stage for man’s redemption? In this book, the case will be made that even the laws of disorder and decay are best understood as the brainchild of a Creator, and that, while order and design reveal the mind of God, it is the arbitrary nature of life that reveals the heart of God.
This is a very interesting book. It is unlike many other christian books I have read and it is on a topic that is definitely unlike other christian gooks I have read. Mr. Dillon has a way of writing that is very captivating and engaging. His writing comes across as very convicted and you can tell he fully believes what he is saying. There may be a few little nuances that I am still not clear on or have a slight difference with maybe but that is what makes this book a lot of fun to read... He is making the argument and he makes some really good arguments that were incredibly insightful and helpful. His explanation of Entropy was enlightening and really developed lots of other thoughts in me and helped me understand many other ideas. Trusting God in the randomness really is helpful to understanding life and God's sovereignty over it. I would also say that the short chapters is a huge win for readers like myself. Incredibly digestible so you don't get overwhelmed. He doesn't mince words and drag things on longer than they need to be. Clear and to the point, even if sometimes I still am not sure I hold that exact view I 100% understood argument. I am grateful for him taking the time to write this book because it seems like most people write the same books on the same topics over and over again these days (marriage, parenting, discipleship, leadership, growing church) and honestly those topics have been covered and usually not well, so it is refreshing that he did not write on those like everyone else. This book is a challenge to your thoughts and there are several things in it I am still dwelling on and wrestling with to make sure that I am honoring God in my life with as much of a Christ like mind as I can. Thanks you Mr. Dillon for writing this book if you ever read this!
