Rate this book
Mary Bennet, having been overshadowed her whole life by her sisters, is now seeking her place in the sun by pursuing a life that will be uniquely her own. As she sets out, she gains a ready companion in Georgiana Darcy, who wishes to assist her. Shy Georgiana also sees in this a way to withdraw from the uncomfortable light of attention from young men seeking to marry into the Darcy name and money.

"The Sun Also Shines For Me" follows Mary and Georgiana into London during The Season, a time for men and women alike to meet someone to marry. However, our two heroines have come to London for reasons altogether different. Are they going to discover what they are looking for? Will Mary's attempt to step from the shadows into the light be successful? Will Georgiana find that running from one thing leads her headlong into something quite unexpected? Or is the society of the time so stacked against two young ladies with interests beyond balls and dinner parties that they are stifled in their pursuits?

Come join these two girls in this exploit and find your own reasons to laugh and cry with them along the way to realizing that the sun truly shines for both of them.

A re-read of this P&P sequel where Mary Bennet, the overlooked daughter decides that marriage is not for her, yet, but does not know what she really wants to do with her life. But with the help of Georgiana Darcy, and friends of Darcy, she sets out to London to find her future.
A very enjoyable, easily read and well-written story, of my favourite Bennet sister.

There's something about not having much information on Mary Bennet and Georgiana Darcy that stirs the imagination to give them a bigger voice. As the authors, we took the idea of a young lady not willing to settle for the choices that are being placed before her that was started in Pride and Prejudice's heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, along with Mary's love of reading, to create a unique story of self-fulfillment and discovery. You will enjoy getting better acquainted with Mary and Georgiana as they both learn that the sun also shines for them.

It took me a while to write my review but I really loved to read the book.
It makes me feel happy to see how Mary was characterised.
Mary? Who?
Mary Bennet, the middle child of the five sisters. While Jane, Lizzy and Lydia married, Mary was mostly forgotten until her mother decided it's time for her to find a husband. What's with Kitty, you now may ask … Well, maybe her time will come one day too.
Mary didn't feel to need a husband to be herself. She wanted to become something special. Like a woman who can change the world.
Georgiana, Mr Darcys sister, became her best friend.
Mr Wickham once broke her heart but with the help of her brother she really became a lovely woman. A shy woman but with a warm and huge heart.
Mary and Georgiana were more than just friends. They argued like sisters and had fun like friends.
I really enjoyed their friendship because both got their time of joy and both flourished.

I totally like the way the Author writes about the persons we got to know and love from “Pride and Prejudice” and of cause their own story “Mr Darcy falls in love”.
It's a pleassure to read how the story continued and how everyone turned.
Most “Darcys” aren't really lovely or handsome but in this parts Mr Darcy is such a good heart (and looking) man. It's not possible not to love him!
Maybe I'm a bit obsessed about P&P and Jane Austen but happily she can still live in her stories and in fan-fictions. After 200 years it's so sweet to read something which actually Miss Austen could have written. Because this book is in an old-fashioned-style. The Autor (Noe and Cindy) took the magic from her into theirs. I really hope more Janites would find these books.
Some more words to Mary:
I love books with quotes. Mary loves to read and it's really stunning what she actually read. And she remembers so much. She should have every book in her head and can pick up a quote for every situation. That is amazing!
And if you love libaries, you really have to read this one.

My Thoughts...

What I found interesting about this book based on Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is this is a story about the middle sister Mary Bennett. Not a whole lot was written about her in the book, P & P, just that she loved reading and always had a quote for almost any occasion, and she loved to play the piano and sing at gatherings, even tho she was a bit immature at that stage in her life. This story enlarges on these qualities now a few years later in her life.

The only problem I had was... it started a bit slow for me, but as the story moved on the pace picked up and drew me right into the story. I enjoyed learning more about Georgiana as she overcame some of her shyness, and came out of her shell. And the new character, Alice was an interesting character next to the other two, the three of them completed each other.

A big THANK YOU!!! to the authors, Noe and Cindy for gifting this book to me to read and give an honest review. I enjoyed it enough to award it 4 "Sunny" Stars.

This book is part of my Nook Library.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading and reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers and authors I am under no obligation to write a positive review.

I really really enjoyed this novel about 3 young women coming of age and exploring options instead of just searching out a marriage partner. This is a totally original story about Georgiana, mary and a new character Alice. So many topics of concern were addressed: physical beauty vs. the inner persons beauty, the impact parents or guardians have on their children's personalities, what its like to be overlooked due to an inadequate perception to name a few. I liked that there were no sexual scenes, no bad language. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had the means to take one room apart and remake it? I'd probably choose a library if I had one also since my interest in books is there. I was really torn between a 4 & 5 rating...probably a 4.5. I personally needed a little bit more of the descriptive element or a couple drawings included. I loved reading about how the girls gowns were fashioned and colors chosen and their happiness. Somehow I needed just a tad more. I'm not sure how. I also loved the description of the library past and new. I think I just needed a bit more about the sofa or stairs or ? It has a tiny bit of romance. Darcy, elizabeth, mr. And mrs. Bennet are there for familiar characters as well. A couple new characters are featured with one new "mean girl" tho not as brash as Caroline bingley. Whew. I wish it were even longer and we could see what happens in their future. I guess there could be a follow up tho with Georgiana and van, mary and Alice with libraries. I'm not doing this adequately for a review. I stayed up too late so I could finish reading it so I really need to get to bed and hopefully later in the day revise this and do a more complete and better job.
