Tellure Hollow #1

Caught by the Blizzard

Rate this book
This winter thriller is scorching hot!

The sleepy mountain town of Tellure Hollow won't ever be the same.

When Liz Croyden lost her mother to breast cancer, she knew she had to protect her father from experiencing that kind of pain ever again. Liz's proactive surgery was one of the most difficult things she's ever done. Bravery may be soul-deep but now all people see is a young, beautiful girl with breast implants. Bitter but adaptable, she's learned how to use those assumptions to get what she wants. Unfortunately, it's put her in some unsavory positions and she's left wondering how her life got so twisted.

Bryan Marsh was a downhill skier pegged for the Olympics. He had it all. A fiance, a supportive family, a perfect future laid out before him. All it took was one tragic crash to rip everything he'd ever known apart. Two years later, he's still trying to pick up the pieces and figure out who he is if he can no longer be The Blizzard.

Fate throws Liz and Bryan together in the small ski resort town of Tellure Hollow. Each are hoping their mountain retreat will bring some answers. Neither of them ever expected to find someone so special.

Can Bryan help Liz escape the vengeance of a convict ex who's demanding what he paid for? Will they be able to break down the walls they've built and accept the happiness they so sorely deserve?

Caught by the Blizzard is the first novel in the 2 book Blizzard series. Any and all cliffhangers will be resolved in the second novel. I promise ;)

Liz needed some time to think, and get her life back on track. she got into trouble when she was dating the wrong guy, got into the drug scene. she cleaned up her life, and was clean, but she wanted to get out of town. she agreed to go to a sky resort with her best friend. they lived with a group of young people. one of the roommates was a jerk. Liz did meet Bryan. Bryan was recovering from a skiing accident. When he met Liz he actually thought he was saving her life. Liz was hanging over a bridge attempting to take a awesome picture. Bryan thought she was going to fall into the river, and he grabbed her around the waist. the two were funny together. I quit reading the book at chapter 7, when Kayla, Liz's best friend offered her a joint, and Liz smoked it before a party. Sorry I don't like drugs. I don't read books with young people doing drugs.

Blurb: Caught by the Blizzard is the first novel in the 2 book Blizzard series. Any and all cliffhangers will be resolved in the second novel. I promise ;)

The implication is that there ‘might’ be cliffhangers at the end of the story, but be warned. This ends with There is no resolution, no HEA, no HFN. We have to buy the second book to learn what happens to them.

I felt cheated and I will not be buying the second book. The plot was confusing to say the least; padded out by backflashes repeating the same event as seen through Bryan and then Liz's pov. Not only that, but the heroine’s casual acceptance of her best friend’s drug habits the said best friend's 'so what' attitude to the assault on Liz AND the fact that Liz had sold drugs was a definite no-no.

I really didn't like Kayla I found her self-centred and manipulative and wondered why Liz was still friend with her. I am still not sure about Liz she has obviously made some bad choices in the past but I am wondering if she has learnt anything fom her past mistakes. Bryan frustrates me he seams to be inconfict with himself most of the time. I will have to read the next book to find out if Rick manges to continue to control Liz's life or if Bryan can overcome his past and fight for the woman he loves.

Wow! What a great read! Couldn't put it down! Liz and Bryan both have troubled pasts that led them to this small town. A chance encounter leads to a serious attraction. The chemistry between these two is delicious! Cannot wait to see what happens next!

cliffhanger..... good story but you'll need to read the second book for a conclusion. Personally, I'm tired of cliffhangers and the way authors rope you in.

I don't mind a cliffhanger too much, I will happily pay for the next book if I'm invested.

The problem with this book was that I struggled to get into it. I think the problem for me was that the only character that I liked in this whole thing was Bryan. I had trouble pinning Liz down. She was kind of all over the place. I get that she had a lot of baggage, but it was too much for me. Overall, for me, I'm okay with ending this right here. I don't really care what happens with Liz, Rick, Bryan or anyone else.

I only got a couple of chapters in before abandoning this book as I didn't like any of the characters by then and didn't think the main heroine was matching her description in the synopsis at all.

•Intense
Great beginning to an intense story! This is my first Adele Huxley book, but it won't be my last! Liz is running from her painful past and trying to figure out how to start fresh. Bryan is trying to figure out how to cope with the painful tragedies in his past. When they meet its an instant connection that neither of them know what to do with.
After her mother's death, her double mastectomy to my which caused her father to sell their family home to pay for. Liz just wanted to get the money to buy back their home for him, he's lost too much. Liz came to Colorado because she wanted time to reconnect with her best friend Kayla and figure out how to get her life back on track as and maybe learn how to ski like her mother did. Things are looking up for her, she even meets Bryan, this sexy as hell guy who confused the hell out of her. Now her past is catching up with her, her ex Rick shows up on the mountain fresh out of prison. How did he not only get out, but find her? He's demanding she follows through with their arrangement. What will this mean to the newly budding relationship she's building with Bryan?
Bryan came back to Tellure Hollow to conquer his demons. If he cannot be who he was born to be "The Blizzard"- the Olympic skier who tore up the slopes .. then who can he be? He wants to be himself not who he used to be. He's hoping the small town he knew growing up will help him better than any therapist ever could. He didn't care if he's destined to ski only the bunny trails, at least he's back on the slopes. Then he meets this gorgeous woman, who for the first time in forever stirs something in him. Has destiny brought them together so Liz can help mend his broken heart? Will he be able to keep her safe in the process?
To find out how they reconcile their pasts you'll have to read CAUGHT BY THE BLIZZARD. It does end on a cliffhanger of sorts, thankfully SAVED BY THE BLIZZARD is ready to be read now... I'm off to read it! Adele has written an extremely intense new adult, romantic suspenseful thriller. This is written as a dual POV by the strong willed characters. It's set in Colorado during the winter season in a skiing town around the Christmas holiday. Snuggle up under the covers or by the fire and sit back and get ready for the ride. The complete series is now available. Due to sexual and adult language and situations such as violence this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

This winter thriller is scorching hot! The sleepy mountain town of Tellure Hollow won't ever be the same. Liz Croyden lost her mother and aunt to breast cancer at an early age. With breast cancer running in her family, Liz elected to have proactive surgery. It left her father in debt and losing much of what he and her mother had built together. After going to college, she is thrown in to a crowd that shows her ways to help her father regain what was once lost. With an easy way out, it is inevitable that trouble will follow and Liz is left to wonder how her life took a wrong turn.

Bryan “The Blizzard” Marsh was Olympic bound as a downhill skier. Strong, confident and fearless, Bryan had a supportive family and a beautiful fiancé. It seemed his future was golden. That was until a tragic accident turned his life upside down. Two years later, Bryan finds himself trying to figure out where his life is going to take him and if he will ever be able to be the person he once was.

As fate would have it, Bryan and Liz are thrown together in the small ski resort town. Looking for answers to their questions and needing some time away from their families, the last thing they expected was finding each other. Will Bryan be able to help Liz escape her troubled past? Could Liz be the one to bring out the confidence and courage that Bryan once had? Together, could they find the happiness they both sorely deserved?

I loved this book! Adele Huxley incorporated romance and thriller into this novel. The characters are intense and the real life circumstances are what kept me glued to the pages. The story between Bryan and Liz is one of breaking down walls and letting others in. A tragic past is never easy to get over, but these two make it seem it is always possible. Awesome Adele!

I wasn't a fan of this book but as with most things there are pros and cons to everything.

The Pros: The thriller aspect keeps you wanting to turn the page with all of the drama, impending danger and shady characters. The lead characters have a chemistry together that makes me want them to work. The climax builds to a cliff hanger at the end in the hopes of drawing the reader into buying the next book... and yes I think that is a good thing because 1) authors must want to sell books and 2)I've read similar books done this way and I am obsessed with the story far beyond the reading when the suspense is built this way.

The Cons: the characters were all broken (physically, mentally and/or emotionally) and I needed some character to not be completely toxic to the others. Best friends don't treat each other the way Kayla treats Liz, and then at one point Liz says she thinks of her like a sister? Sisters don't treat each other like that. I don't enjoy books whose characters explain away toxic relationships, drug use etc and try to make a reader believe it's sexy to be this jaded. I don't enjoy books with such toxic relationships and then pass them off as normal. The climax meant to make me download the next book immediately left me ambivalent to the next book. I only liked the chemistry between the romantic couple and wasn't interested in wading through all the drama set up in this first book to finish seeing their story.
Less important...just annoying was the poor editing. It was almost as bad as an uncorrected proof I read recently with typos and sentence mistakes. True you can't judge uncorrected proofs that way and you can't take offense too hard when this happens in a free e-book, but isn't this book trying to impress me, and tempt me into purchasing the next one?

First off, I found the characters in this story to be alright. I really enjoyed the main female protagonist. I found her to be pretty understandable, and I truly sympathized with her. I also really loved our main love interest as well as the side character, Walt. The other characters I couldn't stand, however. Kayla was completely annoying, and I have no clue how someone could be that ignorant to be honest. As for Rick and Noah, I just hated their guts for their characters. The relationship between the two main characters was AMAZING, though, despite the whole "love-at-first-sight" thing.
The plot was really well done, in my opinion. I thought the way secrets and pasts were revealed were paced nicely and kept my attention. The story itself was amazing too. I truly loved the main character's story, but I hope in the sequel I learn more about each characters' stories.
Lastly, the writing style was really real and raw if that makes sense. I also think it did a great job grabbing my emotions from the start. I wish the story would've started off with a little more explanation to why the characters were in their situations, but I still really enjoyed it. THAT ENDING, THOUGH. I NEED THE SEQUEL.

Liz and Bryan are both terribly broken from their pasts. You couldn't find 2 people who were more different but so similar. They're drawn together by the pain they see in each other's eyes and the scars they see on each other's bodies. Neither want to bare their souls to each other but when danger knocks, Liz is so shaken that she just can't stop from sharing her story. But Bryan just can't bring himself to share his whole story. He's so worried Liz will reject him or use him when she finds out who he really is. Liz worries that the only reason Bryan stays with her is because she needs protection and once she doesn't, he'll leave.

Just when you think you figure out where this story is going, watch out for that curve in the road. Adele has a way of taking you where you couldn't imagine the story going.

Author: Adele Huxley
Recommended for: fan's of romance and thriller novels.
Edition: Kindle

I found this book on the Kindle Store for free and so I thought that I would give it a try.

I found it very hard to tear myself away from this book, it was a really great read and extremely well written by Adele Huxley. This book contains both a thriller aspect and a romanctic aspect which was perfect for me as I love both of them!. The characters are very well described and add depth to the book, they face real life situations which makes them seem more realistic and beliveable. This is a really good book to read for fans of romance and thrillers. I would definately recommend this for everyone.

"Downhill - but not to the finishing line"

I don't usually like a review that starts with 'a quick read' or 'fast paced' because nine times out of ten it means the person has read the blurb and not a lot else. This IS fast paced and a quick read. It IS a romantic winter thriller. The thing that prevented me from rating it a little higher was the fact that a perfectly plausible ending could have been achieved by writing another 10 to 15 pages.
The growing trend of stories being spread over two books is one I dislike. To get to the end of this epic tale, you need to plough (not a snow related joke) through 600 pages. Call me old fashioned, but there are a lot of writers out there who can get the job done far more succinctly.

I went into this story knowing that it wasn't going to have an ending, but I thought at the time if it proved to be worth it, I would purchase the next installment. Unfortunately, I found the story lacking. Authors take a risk when they write a series that doesn't offer an ending with each book and relies on the reader being interested enough to purchase the next in the series. It's a gamble for the reader in time and it's a gamble for the author in retaining readership. There were parts of this story that had promise, but it wasn't consistent enough. The characters were just so-so and the plot moved along just so-so which left me with a just so-so feeling. Sorry, I will not be reading further in this series.

A great read so far

The reason I say "so far" is because of the ridiculous cliff-hanger ending. This really felt like it was in the middle of the story rather than something extra added to the end to make you want the next book. I don't usually like when the point of view changes this much either but it seemed to work for this book. It's a great story, but be warned, you HAVE to buy the next one in order for anything to be resolved. This is the main reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

This was the first book I read by Adele Huxley and I really enjoyed it. I'm sure I will be reading more of her books. This book had lots of suspense to keep it interesting and just enough romance to keep you wanting more. I just about put the book down when I came to the part about selling drugs, so glad I stuck through that part. Really good book except the ending is a cliffhanger. So be warned....

Great read! I really loved that Bryan and Liz both had troubled pasts and that brought them closer together. I do think that the author could have went a little more in depth of Liz's past and why she was so angry. What was Liz thinking keeping a friend like that around. Clearly her friend cared nothing for her or she would have tried protecting her a little more. Geeze! But I do recommend this book! Can't wait to read book 2.

Wow just wow is all I can say. This book is amazing. I have fallen in love with Liz and Bryan. I can't wait to see is in store for them next. Both of the have over come so much and being together has started to heal them both even if they don't realize it yet. Will they make it to safety and still be together?

The book started off a little slow, but by the time I got to the end of the book, I was turning the pages as fast as I could read them. Adele Huxley did a good job with character development and I really felt as I was living the story with the Liz and Bryan. I look forward to reading the next book in the series as I can't wait to find out what happens next.

None of the reviews I read about this book prepared me for its frankly explicit sex scenes and what the author chooses to call "mature" subject matter. It's soft porn, at best.

Oh, and the "Blizzard" in the title? Not a severe weather phenomenon, as you might think ... It's the dude's nickname, from when he was a hotshot skier!

Loved it!

I completely fell in love with this book I found only a few errors in it and loved that I didn't have to keep looking over grammar issues. Both of their back stories are so sad and left me feeling bad for both Bryan and Liz. I wanted to slap Kayla because let's face it she only cares about herself. I'm definitely purchasing the next one!
