Nothing’s more exclusive than Noire Underground.

Serving the wicked and reaping rewards.

Secrets. Lies. Soot and cinders.

Rhythm. Blades. Games and gore.

A knife like a claw and the strike of a needle.

This hidden haven is a throne of chains.

Maddox

Tessa Lockhart is what dreams—and nightmares—are made of.

Since she works at the resort I own, she’s technically off-limits, but rules are suggestions I tend not to take.

Especially when it comes to the silver-haired tattoo artist with a sharp tongue and quick wit.

The only problem is that she hates me.

Nah. That’s pretty perfect too.

I took care of something for her, and there’s been some new developments, so it’s time to cash in.

But there’s only one payment I’ll accept.

Her.

Tessa

Maddox Noire is tragically gorgeous and infuriatingly demented.

His sinister king-of-the-underworld persona and urge to dance through life used to give me those giddy, schoolgirl-crush butterflies.

Pathetic, I know.

Then he opened his mouth. And blew up my life.

For two and a half years, I’ve been indebted to him.

He claims that his new demands are my payment and not because I’m in danger.

As much as I despise him, dealing with a Noire is the lesser evil.

Because if our secret is out, our time is up.

The Noire brothers truly have obsession running through their blood. First Ryker, waiting 19 years for the love of his life just to finally have her. And then Maddox this man is absolutely DOWN BAD.

“I knew you’d fucking taste like this.”
“Like what?”
“Like sex and sin and an all-consuming melody. Everything I crave.”
“𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞.”

🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️

Maddox is the life of the party. He always has a beat playing in his ears, swinging his knife along with it, hiding his sadness behind the noise and the chaos. Then his obsession locks onto the tattoo artist at La Luna Noire, and the moment he sees her? He’s completely captivated.

Tessa comes from a rough family and has a messy past. They’ve always judged her choices, not knowing those same choices were made to protect some of them. Then one uneventful night, something truly awful happens, and she calls Maddox for help, because she knows he’ll show up for her no matter what.

You’re mine, Tess. Your world is my world. Your fights are my fights.

and now, he’s utterly obsessed with her and she hates him. And he won’t stop at anything to get to her, to understand her, because he will have her no matter what.

This book had all the emotions. I laughed, I cried, and the last twenty percent was an actual rollercoaster. I loved seeing the old crew pop up any family moment makes my heart so warm.

And Axel… yeah. I don’t think I can wait for his book anymore. I NEED it.

many thanks to the author for providing an advanced reader copy

Rolling 75 took my breath away, and 12 Mile Limit somehow hit even deeper.

Brandy writes her characters as whole, emotionally mature, deeply layered people—and in this story especially, she raises the bar. Both Maddox and Tessa feel intentional, complex, and incredibly earned.

Where Ryker was all bulldozer and bravado, Maddox is carefree and fun yet quietly intimidating. Beneath it all, he is unwaveringly devoted. His emotional vulnerability stood out the most—he listens, observes, and truly knows Tessa. He says the right things not to serve himself, but because he wants to do right by her and by the people he loves.

The found family dynamics once again stole my heart. The brotherhood and the moments shared with their sister, Rena, were raw, emotional, and tear-inducing in the best way.

Tessa is a sharp-edged, fiercely protective black-cat heroine—guarded, self-sacrificing, and aching to be seen for who she is. Maddox doesn’t change her; he breaks through her walls. She remains herself, simply allowing herself to be chosen.

Once again, she delivers a story full of emotional depth, complex relationships, and characters who stand beside each other as equals. I can’t wait to see which brother is next!

~ Welcome to La Lune Noire. There is nothing more exclusive than Noire Underground. Drink and conspire. ~

Brandy Hynes delivers book 2 in the Noire Brothers series, set in the opulent and prohibition themed La Lune Noire members club for the nefarious and dangerous, in the heart of New Orleans.

Brandy’s world building is exceptional, her writing melodic and immersive, she writes books to savour! The mystery and suspense has you wanting to turn the pages and devour every sentence, yet you find yourself taking moments to breathe and let the story sink in. Her Characters have depth, the plot thickens throughout, there’s angst and fire, tenderness and raw emotion. The heat and spice absolutely holds your attention in the best ways, blending perfectly into the story

With Maddox & Tessa we get the most exquisite verbal sparring with delicious underlying sexual tension. I absolutely loved the flirty texts and banter, having a front row seat to them getting to know each other better and falling harder!

Maddox is absolutely swoon worthy! He goes to bat for Tessa in front of her ex and her family, he shows her that love isn’t just words or sweet nothings, she shows him that he can be loved for simply being him, not for materialistic or selfish reasons, love for both of them is portrayed beautifully as an action!

I'm completely captivated by this series and can't wait to add a physical copy of this book to my shelves. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment and hoping for a certain brother to take the spotlight (IYKYK)! ♠️♥️♣️♦️ While waiting for book 3, I'll definitely be delving into Brandy's previous books and starting the KORT series in 2026!

I love this dark mafia romance series, and Twelve Mile Limit just solidified that obsession. Maddox is top tier and Tessa is a snarky, take no shit FMC that I instantly adored. Their enemies to lovers tension was delicious, the banter was sharp, and the yearning was perfection.

The chemistry between these two had me hooked from the start, and I loved watching their walls slowly crumble. And let’s talk about that scene, yes the one under the desk, because I still cannot get it out of my head. It was absolutely unhinged in the best way and had me laughing way harder than I expected.

Maddox completely stole my heart, especially when he told Tessa’s father, “I’m sure you have a favorite song, one that makes any moment better. Your daughter is my favorite song.” Excuse me while I melt into a puddle.

I am fully invested in this world and cannot wait to keep meeting each brother. If you love dark mafia romance with tension, banter, and characters who hit you right in the feelings, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

"It's always going to come back go this - him or my family."

Tessa has a tough choice between her family and the man she can't stop thinking about.

The exclusive Noire Resort is her home and place of employment. A place where the mafia, elected officals and the underground can conspire on neutral ground. And, her family definitely doesn't approve of her place of work. What happens when an owner and employee relationship blossoms and they cross that line?!

I loved the teasing between Tessa and Maddox. This dynamic between these characters was so entertaining, spicy and fun. I wish we got a bit more conflict earlier in the story, but it all wrapped up very nicely.

You can look forward to:

After Rolling 75, I could not wait for more of the Noire brothers and I absolutely devoured Twelve Mile Limit!  This book had me laughing, swooning, crying, and overall just loving this world that Brandy has created for us.  Also there's one scene that will forever live rent free and iykyk!

Maddox has so many more layers than you might initially think, and seeing more of who he really is has me down bad for him!  The banter between him & Tessa is so freaking perfect from the start and it really fits both of their characters and their relationship!  And I love how fierce, sassy, and loyal Tess is.  She loves the people she cares about so much, but seeing her growth was one of my favorite parts.   They really are the perfect match for each other!

I know the rest of the Noire series will keep me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait to see what's next!

This book was another great one in the long list from Brandy. As always her writing style is so uniquely her that you can’t compare her to others. The way she builds these characters and their worlds you just can’t help but fall into them head first.

Now this story is Maddox and Tessa’s story and these two have an interesting one. Kinda have a trauma bonding moment, but also a seeing each other for who they are NOT what they are. It’s an opposite side of the tracks story in a lot of ways too. The bad boy her family wants her to have nothing to do with, but the undeniable pull to something that isn’t what she had growing up. Now don’t take this wrong and think Tessa is just feeling out the bad boy because that is NOT the case. Tessa is just physically drawn to the place of la nu noire and her comment of because she belongs rings soooo true to her very soul. And parts not even she fully understands at first. She has always put her family and others needs above her. Loyal but reckless. Brave but pushes barriers. Her family dynamic is simple, average, your basic suburban family. Their issues are status quo and their dynamic is something you could just drop yourself right into. Family drama and all. But what Tessa finds and la nu noire is real family. The people that will fight against you for you. The people who will do what needs to be done, damn the consequences. And give her someone who will be that push and pull with her no questions asked. Punish her for the brat she is while worshipping the ground she walks on.

Maddox is a king in his birthright, a man that no one ever sees because all they see is his crown. He needs someone who chooses him because of him. Not because of protecting others, gaining a move in the chess match, or playing a long game. Never did he ever think anyone could see him for beyond the king he is, because the man he is so much more than the crown on his head.

I probably related the most to this book out of all of Brandy’s books so far. These two were just a whole other level for me. It’s so hard to really explain too because it’s simple yet complex. And the dynamics are just so basic that you feel it’s so real. And basic isn’t a bad thing I mean basic as in it feels sooooo real. Like you can just picture yourself right there. Yes there’s still world building and the underground society in this book. You can’t have this story and NOT have that. But the pieces Maddox gave us of the bigger story was like adding water color to a black and white photo. It didn’t change the story but helped you see it more vibrant. Feel the feeling Brandy intended.

Twelve Mile Limit (Noire Brothers #2)
by Brandy Hynes

I am in awe. I truly didn’t think anything could top Rolling 75, which is still one of my top reads of 2025, but here we are. I was already head over heels for Ryker, and now Maddox is standing right beside him.

There is something so special about these books. Yes, Brandy’s writing is incredible, evocative, descriptive, but never boring. Her use of sound and smell pulls you straight into the page and makes the Noir Underground feel alive, dangerous, and intoxicating. The Noire brothers themselves are endlessly alluring, each one so distinctly different that I honestly don’t know whose book I want next, which is the best kind of problem.

Now let’s talk about Twelve Mile Limit.

I was completely enamored with the dynamic and chemistry between Tessa and Maddox. Tessa is exactly the type of FMC I love, strong yet vulnerable, independent, sharp, and unwilling to be owned easily. Maddox, on the other hand, is swoon worthy, unhinged in the best way, and his level of passion and devotion is everything I want in an MMC.

Maddox’s essence is summed up perfectly here:

“Tessa Lockhart is what dreams, and nightmares, are made of. She’s so goddamn perfect. Except for one thing. She hates me. Nah, that’s pretty perfect too.”

And this line? Rent free.
“Part of me wants to know you, part of me wants to break you, and part of me wants to own you.”

IYKYK: If found, please return to Tessa Noire. 😌

This book had me fully immersed, emotionally invested, and already desperate for more of this world and these men.

ARC REVIEW: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
It’s honestly no surprise that Twelve Mile Limit was another 5-star read for me. At this point, picking up a Brandy Hynes book feels like a guarantee—elite writing, top-tier character work, and an emotional chokehold I willingly sign up for every single time.

Maddox and Tessa are peak annoyances-to-lovers. Not full-blown enemies, but make no mistake—Tessa is absolutely not swooning at first glance. And honestly? Same, queen. She’s closed off, allergic to people, and thrives in silence. Spirit animal behavior. Meanwhile, Maddox… we’ve known this man has been down bad since his brief cameos in KORT. The quiet pining? Criminal. The patience? Deadly.

Maddox being a fully tattooed, music-obsessed soft menace—constantly listening to or singing songs—was hands-down one of my favorite parts. He’s a walking jukebox with touched-her-and-💀 energy, and it WORKED. The chemistry between these two built so beautifully, and once it hit? Game over.

This book had everything I love: spice that hits, suspense woven perfectly into the story, emotional depth, and all the cameos from our beloved Noire and KORT families that made it feel like coming home. I highlighted quotes, reread scenes, and absolutely sobbed over the love Maddox has for Tessa.

But what truly wrecked me was watching Maddox show Tessa how to love herself—how to stop people-pleasing, how to take up space, how to choose herself. Their moments together were pure swoon, sweat-worthy, heart-clenching perfection.

Brandy Hynes did it again. No notes. Just obsession. 🖤

If you know anything about me, you would know that I am a walking talking billboard for my girl Brandy Hynes. I think she is massively underrated and under hyped. Her writing style is so poetically beautiful. It's truly so unique and nothing that I have ever read before. And Twelve Mile Limit is everything that Brandy is known for, but it's also different from the rest of her books. This one has her signature dark tones with suspense but it has this youthful and playful vibe to it. And we can thank our two main characters for that. Their personalities brought something so different to the page that made me not want to put this book down.

I am so in love with Maddox and Tessa. Maddox is this ruthless billionaire who runs a playground for the criminal underground. Tessa is this snarky, independent black cat tattoo artist who works for Maddox. At first glance, you see an employee who owes her boss her life after he helped her out of a tough situation and a boss who holds it over her head until it's time to collect. But the problem is, Maddox is head over heels infatuated with Tessa and well, Tessa can't stand him. But that doesn't stop Maddox for going after what he wants. And what he wants is Tessa.

Maddox and Tessa's push and pull dynamic was so fun. These two have such youthful personalities but were also so mature. Like I don't know how to describe the vibes of their relationship with words other than playful and youthful. Between Tessa's black cat I can do anything by myself energy and Maddox's morally grey badass exterior who is like, nah sit your butt down energy, they worked so well together. It also made for top tier banter. I truly caught myself giggling many times.

The plot was superb. I have nothing bad to say about it. I was entertained. There were some plot twists that I guessed but then others that had me say wtf. Which is honestly one of the many things that I loved about a romantic suspense. Maddox and Tessa's character growth was perfect as well. Maddox and Tessa have so many layers to them and this book was like peeling an onion. As the story progressed, you got to see them blossom. The way that Maddox created a safe space for Tessa to be irrevocably her. It was truly beautiful.

Brandy, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of you universe. I thank my lucky stars all the time of you sending me PR for your first book because you have truly become one of my favorite authors. You knew I needed your stories in my life and for that I am so truly grateful. Now, can you please give me my boy Cash's book and some more cameos of Liam. I have been a very good girl ;)

You should most definitely read this book if you like:
- Romantic Suspense
- Billionaire
- Boss x Employee
- Hate to Love
- Black Cat FMC
- Morally Grey MMC
- Found Family

* I would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Brandy Hynes for allowing me the absolute pleasure to read Twelve Mile Limit as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.

She might not want me in her space, but I need her mark on mine. I want my sheets to smell like the sea and my pillow to be decorated with silver strands. Because I’ve officially gone mad over this girl. But I don’t fucking care. Sanity is overrated. With her in my arms like this, it feels right. I can’t confess that though.

I really enjoyed this book. I had a bit of trouble getting into it at first, but once I did, I truly appreciated it. Whether it was the story or the characters, it was really enjoyable to discover them.

The characters of Tessa and Maddox were quite interesting, and honestly, they made a great pair. They are the kind of crazy that works.

Their push-and-pull dynamic lasted a little too long for my taste, but the characters had their reasons, so it still made sense.

However, I was expecting more development when it came to the plot twists. I thought they would have a bigger impact on the story. The ending felt a bit rushed, and everything seemed to happen too quickly.

Overall, it’s a pretty good book.

“But, Tess?” “Yeah?” she rasps, clocking the glint of the balisong before I sneak it around her back, beneath her dress. “You can keep putting up those walls, but that won’t deter me. I’ll keep tearing through them.”

He makes me feel alive like no one has in … maybe ever.

“We both have a perfect view. You see my kingdom, and I see my queen.”

“You’re all mine. Everything you see is yours. This is your fortress now, baby.”

“I can be that for you,” he rasps, sucking all the oxygen out of my apartment. If he wanted sex right now, even with my queasy stomach and foggy head, I could handle it, but this … “Be what?” It’s barely a whisper. “Your safe place.” He widens the elastic on a pair of pajama pants for me to step into them, and once I do, he pulls me against him and tips my chin. “Your armor. You can break with me.”

I lift my chin to rest on his chest. “How long is forever, Maddox?” “Eternity, baby. This life and the next and every fucking one after that. My soul will always belong to yours.” He smiles and pecks my nose.

“I’m sure you have a favorite song, one that makes any moment better. Your daughter is my favorite song.”

Music. She seeks silence, but she’s become my symphony.

While this book can be read as a standalone - I beg you to read AT LEAST Rolling 75, if not the entire KORT series, before jumping into this one. Because you are missing out!

The plot!! The love!! The loyalty!!
Brandy has enraptured my mind and heart yet again. I absolutely adore this universe. I can’t get enough of it! I thought Ryker and Mercy were my end game favorites… then she had to go and write Maddox and Tessa.
I am floored.

Serving us with her usual impeccably beautiful and poetic writing style, while describing a love so entrenched in blood and crime that I fully immersed myself in it for 48 hours straight. No breath needed.

I cried. Multiple times. I laughed out loud from the banter many more times. I was gripping my kindle like it owed me money with the tension and suspense of the plot.
It even ran out of battery while I was reading without me even realizing it. I could not put this one down.

This may be the most I have ever highlighted a book - ever. I thought it was wild how much of Rolling 75 I highlighted… but this was entire pages. Just paragraphs upon paragraphs of beautiful writing.

Masterpiece. From Burning Ivy to this story - the whole universe is a masterpiece. I will never want to leave. This entire series is one of my Roman empires.

I love a mafia romance , and nothing is better than an obsessed mafia boss mmc! This plot was pretty fun, she’s indebted to him after he saved her life once, and he’s been obsessed ever since. The start was so tense, she adamant on not falling for him because of his reputation, but our man is definitely not gonna give up that easily. The plot did slow down a bit a little after the halfway point and I did lose a little interest, but it picked back up in the last 100 pages and had me hooked again. And damn those plot twists? Did not seen them coming! I was so close to crying and I felt like my heart was getting ripped out. I also really loved the characters! I admit I wish we got a little more on both of their backstories because at the end it still felt like they were strangers to me. However I do love the strong found family trope in this book, and I love all the Noires! I can’t wait for the rest of their books. I enjoyed this and I give it a 3.5/5

ARC Review: Twelve Mile Limit. by Brandy Hynes (The Noire Brothers Series Book 2)

Don’t forget to listen to the playlist on Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/54G...

Brandy Hynes has a remarkable gift for creating characters who feel emotionally grounded, layered, and achingly real and this story is further proof of how much she continues to elevate her craft. With Twelve Mile Limit, she once again delivers a powerful, resonant narrative.

I highly recommend starting with Rolling 75, the opening book in the Niore series. The brothers’ sharp banter brings humor and warmth, but beneath it lies an unshakable foundation of loyalty and protection for each other and for anyone welcomed into their circle.

Ryker tore through his story with raw force and unrelenting confidence, a full-on bulldozer in Rolling 75. Maddox, however, is cut from a different cloth. He’s easygoing and lighthearted, with a quiet intensity beneath the surface. He notices the small things, understands without being told, and truly sees Tessa.

Maddox and Tessa share a relationship that is intricate and emotionally charged, and it’s that depth that makes their story linger long after the final page. Tessa has always lived on the edges of her own family, no matter how hard she tries to belong. Her past is messy, shaped by choices she’s been harshly judged for choices many fail to recognize were made to protect the very people who condemned her. Then, on what should have been an ordinary night, something devastating happens. With nowhere else to turn, she calls Maddox, knowing without hesitation that he will come for her.

Guarded and fiercely self-sacrificing, Tessa keeps her walls high, quietly yearning to be truly seen and understood. What makes Maddox’s love so powerful is that he never tries to change her into something easier or safer. He lets her exist exactly as she is seeing her fully, supporting her growth, and gently pushing her to believe she deserves more.

Maddox, meanwhile, is the spark in every room. Music hums constantly in his head, his knife keeping time as he masks his own pain with noise, motion, and chaos. Everything shifts the moment he notices the tattoo artist at La Luna Noire. From that first glance, she has his full attention. But the night she calls him for help, fascination deepens into something unbreakable.

Together, Maddox and Tessa feel inevitable. They heal one another in quiet, meaningful ways. He brings her into the safety of his family while doing everything he can to help her rebuild the fractured bonds with her own. Their story isn’t just about love it’s about healing, belonging, and finding home in someone who refuses to let you face the dark alone.

This isn’t just a love story it’s about loyalty, healing, and finding someone who refuses to let you face the dark alone. 💔❤️‍🔥

It’s official. I am completely undone by Maddox, Tessa, and the entire Noire family.

I adored Rolling 75, but this book? It absolutely blew past every expectation. Brandy has a gift for writing characters who feel real — layered, emotional, and full of quiet intensity that sneaks up on you and wrecks your heart.

Maddox Noire is the definition of “there’s more than meets the eye.” On the surface, he’s the towering, tattooed, knife-flipping menace who floats through life with reckless ease. Intimidating. Effortless. Untouchable.
But beneath all of that is a man who notices everything. He listens. He observes. He loves deeply. He misses his mum, is fiercely devoted to his family, and has spent years quietly orbiting the one woman he was never supposed to want. Watching his vulnerability unfold with Tessa was everything.

And Tessa? An elite black cat FMC. 🖤
She’s sharp, guarded, strong, and desperate to be seen as more than what the world labels her. Always the outsider. Always putting herself last. Her walls were built for survival — and honestly, I respected the hell out of that. What made this so powerful was that Maddox never tries to reshape her. He doesn’t soften her edges. He simply sees her, breaks through brick by brick, and loves her exactly as she is.

The chemistry between them is instant and addictive. The banter hits right from the start, and the way they fit together just makes sense. When these two finally collide? WOW. Maddox’s mouth alone deserves its own warning label 🔥 and yes, the “good boy” moment had me fully feral. Anything for his Queen.

But beyond the heat, it was the softness that stayed with me. The quiet understanding. The way Maddox always seemed to know what Tessa needed before she could ask. Two guarded souls slowly choosing each other — I was not emotionally prepared.

And then there’s the found family. The brotherhood. The loyalty. The raw, tender moments with their sister Rena that squeezed my heart until it hurt. This book pulls you into their world and refuses to let go.

Fair warning though — I was NOT ready for the emotional damage. I screamed. I clutched my chest. My heart was absolutely shattered in the best possible way. You’ll understand once you read it.

Thank you for the ARC — I’m fully invested in the Noire brothers now.
Axel… I see you coming. 😏🔥

Brandy, you had me at Rolling 75 book one in the Noire brothers series, but this one…sister you hit a homerun with the bases loaded on this one.

12 Mile Limit is beautifully written and it was so full of suspense that I was not prepared for. When Maddox is out to protect someone, he takes it seriously. Tessa has a difficult past and a tragic night that she shares with Maddox. 2 and a half years later and that past is coming back to haunt her. Maddox wants to not only claim Tessa, but protect her at all costs.

𝓐𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮 𝓪 𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷’𝓼 𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓶, 𝓫𝓮𝓵𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓾𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓲𝓻 𝓵𝓸𝔂𝓪𝓵𝓽𝔂, 𝓾𝓷𝓿𝓮𝓲𝓵𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓲𝓻 𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓭𝓮𝓬𝓵𝓪𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓲𝓻 𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓼. 𝓦𝓸𝓻𝓭𝓼 𝓰𝓮𝓽 𝓽𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓹𝓮𝓭 𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓽𝔀𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝓲𝓷 𝓵𝓲𝓯𝓮’𝓼 𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓸𝓼; 𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼 𝓬𝓾𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓻𝓸𝓾𝓰𝓱 𝓲𝓽.

𝓗𝓲𝓼 𝔀𝓸𝓻𝓭𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓫𝓮𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓲𝓯𝓾𝓵, 𝓫𝓾𝓽 𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓫𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓽𝓱𝓽𝓪𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰.

These two have a banter that is filled with hate and sexual tension. I loved every word. Tessa stood her ground to Maddox when others cringe in his presence. He literally dances to the beat of his own drum. The way Brandy incorporates his playlist for every occasion was genius and had me jumping over to spotify to claim them for myself. Both of these characters have layers. Each page gave us a different insight as to what makes them and their relationship unique.

“...𝓘 𝔀𝓸𝓾𝓵𝓭 𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓸𝓼𝓮 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓲𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝔂 𝓵𝓲𝓯𝓮, 𝓾𝓷𝓭𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝔂 𝓬𝓲𝓻𝓬𝓾𝓶𝓼𝓽𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮. 𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓪𝓵𝔀𝓪𝔂𝓼 𝓫𝓮 𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓮, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓭𝓸 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝓬𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽.”

I laughed, cried, swooned and was on the edge of my seat for a large portion of this book. It’s official, Brandy is one of my favorites. I have so many highlights, I don’t know where to begin. The way she writes these characters, the family bonds, and the suspense/danger elements are absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to continue this series. I know that when Axel gets his story it is going to be EPIC. For now, I will continue to be Brandy’s hype girl and shout to anyone who will listen, READ THIS BOOK!

Wow, where to start with this one? If I could I would give this infinity stars! I can’t decide if it tops Rolling 75, sits right alongside it, or sails past it. I’m obsessed with the world Brandy has built, the intrigue, the secrets, La Lune Noire and the underworld vibes, all those shades of black, grey, and white. And New Orleans! The French Quarter felt so real I could hear the music and taste the humidity. 🎺🌙

What I Loved About This Book
· Maddox, my unexpected fave: He didn’t stand out to me in the first book, but here he absolutely smashed every expectation. He stole my heart in the best way, his brand of chaos matched mine… and Tessa’s even more. 🖤 The Music references, his pov and just the way he thinks... yes I loved him as a character!

· Tessa being all of us: So relatable. From the get go, I just loved her. I loved her in Rolling 75 with Mercy but finally getting her POV, her views, the way she thinks, feels and her story just YESSSS! She’s tough, strong, takes no nonsense, and she’s perfect for Mads. ✨

· That back story: The anguish, the secrets, the way it all resolves with such a strong focus on family. it wrecked me in the best way. I cried my way through the last quarter and loved every second. 😭💖

· Atmosphere for days: The gritty allure of the underworld, the pull of La Lune Noire, and the reality of New Orleans, chef’s kiss. Honestly Brandy just nails it all, you feel like you want to be in this world, in the story apart of it all.

The Tropes:
Hate to Love
Billionaire Romance
Morally Grey MMC
Possessive / Jealous MMC
Black Cat FMC

Utterly absorbing, gloriously messy in the best way, and emotional to the last page. Twelve Mile Limit had me hooked, heart in a vice, and grinning through tears. More, please. Can I get Jax book next - or maybe Cash orrrrr Papa Axel honestly any of them. 🥂📚

Twelve Mile Limit is the second book in the Noire series by Brandy Hynes, and it centers on Maddox Noire—the seemingly carefree, playful brother who’s always dancing to the music in his ear and curating themed playlists. But beneath that easygoing exterior is a man completely obsessed…with Tessa.

Tessa is a stoic, badass tattoo artist who wants absolutely nothing to do with Maddox. She thinks his help during a previous… complicated situation came with strings attached, believing that that he assumed the right to control her—and she’s built sky-high walls of distrust to protect herself. Maddox, however, is determined to tear them down—NOT to control her, but to be the person she can rely on, her safe place when she finally lets herself break. While fighting for Tessa’s trust, Maddox is also hiding parts of himself from everyone else, which adds even more depth to his character. I adored Maddox—his outrageous certainty that Tessa is his, and his unwavering, shatterproof devotion to both her and his family, will absolutely gut punch you.

One of the strongest elements of this series is the bond between the Noire brothers and youngest, beloved sister. The eldest two, “Papa Axel” and Ryker stepped up to raise the youngest four after their parents’ deaths, and that foundation of love and loyalty runs through every page. Their connection is a defining part of the series and adds so much emotional weight to the story. Mandatory family dinner three times a week? *tears in my eyes* Yes, please.

The slow progression of Maddox and Tessa’s relationship is incredibly satisfying, and when they finally come together, it’s emotional, rewarding, and so well-earned. Their journey is a near-perfect example of enemies to lovers, and the depth of devotion they reach by the end is exactly what you want for characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Like Rolling 75, this book is everything.

A toast - "Drink and conspire!"

Thank you to Valentine PR and Brandy Hynes for the ARC.

Tropes & Vibes:
• Enemies to lovers
• Slow burn
• Obsessive/devoted MMC
• Stoic, guarded FMC
• Touch-her-and-die energy
• Ride-or-die family vibes

Talk about a rollercoaster ride—this one gave me mental whiplash in the best way. The Noire brothers are absolutely feral (respectfully), and I am officially ALL IN. 🖤🥂
Brandy Hynes drops us back into the deliciously dangerous world of La Lune Noire—an opulent, prohibition-themed members club tucked in the heart of New Orleans, where secrets live, power plays thrive, and nobody’s hands are clean. The atmosphere alone? Immersive. I got lost in it and genuinely didn’t want to come back to real life.
Now let’s talk Maddox + Tessa. These two are perfectly matched chaos. Tessa turns to Maddox for protection… and this man quietly keeps her secret for two years, watching over her without telling a soul. The devotion? The restraint? The tension?? I was hooked from that moment on. And the real question isn’t if Maddox will protect her—it’s whether Tessa will finally let him do it on his terms.
Also… that conference call scene with him in her office? I nearly passed away. I couldn’t even fully imagine it until it happened and then I was like: oh… yes. THIS is the moment. 😮‍💨🔥
What really made this a five-star read for me is how layered the characters are. Maddox comes off controlling at times—but it’s rooted in this intense, all-consuming protectiveness and a man who will burn the world down if it keeps her safe. And Tessa? She’s been through so much, and watching her slowly get folded into the Noire family—seeing what real acceptance and love looks like—was honestly so satisfying. There’s a little trauma-bond energy, sure, but it’s also very much them seeing each other for who they are, not what they’re labeled to be.
The suspense is woven in so smoothly too—especially through the brother dynamics and those text threads that add danger and depth without hijacking the romance. The twists kept coming, and I was living for every single one.

I am truly OBSESSED with Maddox Noire! These Noire men are something else, but Maddox has caught my eye from the very beginning.

Maddox is the life of the party. He dances to beat of his own drum. He is always listening to some beat in his ears and swinging his knife around with it. The thing is he is hiding his sadness behind the noise and chaos. Deep down, he never truly recovered from the loss of his mother when he was a child. Maddox is absolutely OBSESSED with a tattoo artist at La Lune Noire. He is immediately captivated by her in every way.

Tessa comes from a conservative family and has a messy past. Her family has always judged her for her choices even though the choices she makes are to protect her family. She is always there for them, whether they ask or not, but who is there for her? One unfortunate night, something truly awful happens and the one person that she thought of to call was Maddox, her boss, for help. She knew that he would show up for her no matter what.

He is now even more obsessed with her and she HATES him. He will not stop until she is his.

This book was everything. It was pure perfection! This couple was top tier! Even though they were a little bit more light hearted then Brandy's previous characters, I loved everything about them.

This book will grip you from the very beginning and will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what is going to happen. It has all the emotions (yes, I even cried at the end). The last 20% will have you spinning!

Of course, I loved seeing the KORT crew show up and all the found family moments. I cannot wait to see which Noire man is next!

Read if you like:
-Romantic Suspense
-Billionaire
-Boss X Employee
-Hate to Love
-Black Cat FMC
-Found Family
-Morally Grey MMC
-Pierced MCs

Thank you Brandy Hynes for the honor and privilege to read Twelve Mile Limit early in exchange for my honest thoughts and review! It was truly a pleasure!!!

Tessa is a piercing and tattoo artist at La Lune Noire, forced to come back to work for the brothers after a horrible night two years ago. When she called one of the brothers to help her get out of that tough situation, she thought she was seeing a side of him that she hadn’t before, until he opened his mouth and ruined it, claiming that she owed him, and the payment would be returning to work at the resort. When he suddenly insists on following her around and escorting her to and from work, he frames it as a new version of the debt she owes him, but she can’t help but think there’s more to the story.

Maddox may look like the fun loving brother, always with a dance in his step, despite his habit of playing with knives. Under the surface, he is just as ruthless as his brothers, determined to protect the family at all costs. Yet he can’t help but be distracted by Tessa, as much as she seems to hate him. When their past comes back to haunt them, he sees it as an opportunity to finally get what he wants, while keeping her safe, but will she agree or push back even harder?

I received an early copy of this book from Valentine PR and absolutely loved it! As much as I enjoyed Rolling 75, it didn’t come close to comparing to this one. I loved how strong Tessa appears on the surface, yet only Maddox seems to see how the dynamic with her family affects her, and his desire to stand up for her, in all scenarios had me cheering for them both. Normally I have a hard time finding and choosing meaningful quotes from books, but in this one, I had so many saved I didn’t know which to choose. Maddox may appear shallow on the surface, but his character had so much depth I couldn’t help but fall in love with his words and him.

ARC Review 4.5⭐️

I love me some Brandy Hynes—and Twelve Mile Limit is yet another reminder of why. I absolutely adore her KORT series, and the Noire Brothers series is a spin-off that expands that world in the best way possible. Brandy delivers what she does best: morally gray MMCs who are completely down bad for the women they love, paired with nonstop danger, action, and suspense. Every book is a wild ride, and this one is no exception.

This story follows Maddox Noire, part owner (along with his family) of La Lune Noire—a place dripping in opulence, indulgence, and morally questionable behavior for the wealthy and powerful. Tessa works at the resort as its resident tattoo artist and piercer. When one terrifying night goes sideways, she turns to Maddox for help—and he shows up, no questions asked, and handles everything. From that moment on, she owes him.

Years later, Maddox comes to collect that debt… and he wants her as payment.

The push and pull between Maddox and Tessa is delicious. Their banter crackles, and the enemies-to-lovers tension is perfection as they circle each other, pretending they can’t stand one another—until they very much can. Tessa is fiercely independent but carries the weight of a family that only loves her conditionally. Maddox, in his own blunt, morally gray way, shows her that she is worth more—that she deserves loyalty, love, and people who choose her every time.

This book has it all: found family, danger, suspense, emotional growth, and a hard-earned love. The Noire family dynamic is one of my favorite parts—they are truly ride-or-die, unapologetically loyal, and completely accepting of one another.

I devoured this book and cannot wait for the next installment in the series. Brandy Hynes has done it again.

Music is the soundtrack to our lives. And this saying could not be more applicable than with this book. I didn’t think I would find Maddox’s story more emotional than his brother’s from book 1 (see Rolling 75) but holy here we are.
Maddox and Tessa are boss and employee at the core but this is a complex relationship built on shared trauma and secrets. The thing about Brandy Hynes’ books is the absolute perfect way she weaves a romance into a suspenseful storyline. And make no mistake this is a romance first but honestly the plot is more than just about getting the girl. It’s about the perfection that these books are interconnected and it’s not only connected within the series but also across series with her KORT books.
I kick up my heels every time I have a new Brandy Hynes book to read because quite frankly her storytelling calls to me. It weaves the hot spicy chemistry between Maddox and Tessa along with a whole dark, mafia-ish story.
Maddox is this interesting character filled with a fusion of part bad boy, part bad ass and hot as sin. I absolutely love the use of music to help him identify his motivation for action. It’s a big part of the book and quite frankly I used his playlists while reading this story.
But there is a line in this book that really stole my heart and made me so emotional. It is a testament to who Maddox is: as hardened as he is, there is a huge heart for his girl. When you get to it you will know!! Great book, great story; Brandy Hynes always delivers!

The Noire Brothers Series is a gritty, contemporary, romantic suspense centered around the Noire brothers who own the resort! Gods among gangsters. It’s dark, angsty, and a whole lot of fun!

Brandy’s writing is phenomenal! I really don’t know how she packs so much meaning and depth into every single word she writes. It’s so captivating with so much character depth it is just incredible! She always nails the irresistible, morally gray men and the sassy heroines who make them melt. Tessa is a black cat FMC who is fiercely independent! She works in the tattoo & piercing boutique within La Lune Noire and her boss is one of the Noire Brothers&Resort Owners, Maddox. Tessa absolutely despises Maddox. He is morally grey, a jokester, music is constantly in his ears, he’s always swinging a knife around, and he is ridiculously obsessed and protective of Tessa. He had saved her once from a bad situation and he now wants to collect…if you know what I mean 😉. Their connection was so electric and super playful! They had such witty banter and wild love for each other. Maddox was so unhinged 😂 and I died laughing a couple times. This honestly is such a great hate to love story and I absolutely ate it up! I’m becoming obsessed with these fierce leading ladies in this series clawing their way through the freaking trenches to reach their happily ever afters. 👏 😍

I can’t wait for this series to continue with BOOK 3!!!

✨ Resort Owner/Employee

✨WELCOME TO LA LUNE NOIRE✨

Welcome back babyyy! We have all been dying for a glimpse into the Noire brothers and Maddox is up next! I really did love getting to know the brothers a bit more and to watch Maddox fall hard and fast. These two were oh so fun with the back and forth banter! But watching them fall might have been my favorite!

Maddox. This man has been pinning for Tessa since he first laid eyes on her. But when Tessa gets into some hot water Maddox jumps to help her and from then on out he can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous girl with silver hair. Watching Maddox obsess and need to know everything she was doing is soooo a red flag but dang did I love watching Maddox fall.

Tessa. Our badass tattoo artist. She really did dislike Maddox but when she learns he did every little overbearing thing to protect her she can’t help but all right along side him. She fights him hard. And watching her push back was so fun and I loved watching her make Maddox work for it.

I’m excited for the next installment! Which brother is next?

📕Book Review📕
This was a ride. A fun one with lots of twists and turns, complicated family dynamics, trauma, suspense, and a character growth arc that I deeply appreciated. Being back in the world of the Noires was (as expected) dark and fun and spicy. Though this was book 2 on a series, it can absolutely be read as a standalone, though I think Rolling 75 is a great read and should not be missed.

Therapist 👋 Take: this was definitely a darker story so mind the trigger warnings, though things mentioned off-page were really just mentioned so I feel they were more important details, but not major parts of the story. This book had a few subplots, but what I found most meaningful was the growth arc that I felt Maddox (MMC) had within himself but also to me as the reader. I loved that what I felt for him initially changed so much and I really appreciated his loyalty and care and the way he defended his woman (Tessa, the FMC). This story had important reminders that love is more than just being related, that’s showing up and giving instead of only taking is what matters most. I was glad to see the FMC come into her own, take ownership of her own needs and put people in their places. This story will make you sweat, keep you on your toes, and remind you of the value of true care and connection.

Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

What can I say other than Brandy brought us another masterpiece!

Seriously, if you have not read any of Brandy's books and you love found family, secret society vibes, and morally grey men who are absolutely obsessive and possessive of their women, Brandy's books are for you!

I absolutely loved Maddox and Tessa. The chemistry that they have is undeniable. I was absolutely loving and laughing at the banter between these two! In all honesty this couple reminds me so much of Liam and Celeste from Craving Graves in her KORT series, and I believe that is why this couple ranks up there with them.

I think what I loved the most was seeing Maddox stand up and show up for Tessa when she never had anyone do that for her and Tessa slowly opening up more to Maddox and seeing him for who he truly is and all of his layers.

This book had it all. Tension. Banter. Spice. Suspense and Plot Twists! And if you know Brandy, she always serves the best plot twist in her books!

I do not want to give much away with my review, but I highly suggest this book if you are looking for all of these tropes:
🖤 Hate to Love
🥃 Resort Owner/ Employee
🖤 Dark Billionaire Romance
🥃 Morally Gray MMC
🖤 Jealous/ Possessive MMC
🥃 Black Cat FMC
🖤 Action/Suspense
🥃 She owes him, and he collects.
🖤 Pierced MMC and FMC

There is also a few scenes that just will live rent free in my head for a while!!

Thank you so much Brandy for the arc of this book

Bravo! Another great book! I've read the K.O.R.T series, and "Rolling 75" I devoured them all like A starving person! Maddox and Tessa were great characters. This book had everything I love, suspense, love, angst, great story plot, amazing secondary characters that leave you anticipating the next brother's book. The sex scenes were smoking hot! I have a book mark that has Jesus on it and he is asking "Is that smut?" The answer is, If I were catholic, I would need to go to confession and do more than a few hail mary's! lol
I can not WAIT for the next brothers book! I hope it won't be too long of a wait. I'm hoping it's Jax's book next, but I will be happy with any of them!
A few of my favorite quotes:
Maddox:
"how the simplest of accolades from her reshapes melted vinyl into salvaged albums, soot into fertile soil, and a ringing phone into an eternity of new beginnings."

Tessa:
"even if everyone in the world had their eyes on me, mine would still me on you-the love of my life."

Stand alone: "Love is action, not words" (I think that's right, if not, same meaning)

Once again, awesome cover art! If I had not already read her other series, or "Rolling 75" it would of caught my attention and caused me to at least read the blurb, which led me to reading it!
