Those of us who have read other books by Elias Zapple will already know that he is an author with an incredibly zany sense of humour, and with an extensive knowledge about slugs. This book is a great showcase for both of those attributes. Not only do we get an introduction to all the crazy slugs who are most notable in Zapple's world of slugs, but we are also treated to his favourite slug recipes, and to a smattering of slug facts.

"Elias Zapple's Book of Slugs" by Elias Zapple made me laugh so hard, I must have woken up his army of slugs in Camberwell.
How the author manages to come up with so many hilarious ideas about his slugs - individuals as well the entire species - is beyond me, but it is very good. He's created memorable slug characters and describes them with love, wit and often hate. Elias Zapple was not born in 1922, as some would have you believe. His date of birth is not really relevant anyway. What is relevant is that he arose out of a tulip that was growing in some old granny's garden in Camberwell.
