I liked the book. It took me back to memories of the New Mexico land, the sky, the animals (cows mainly) and my life in the 70's.
Now it's a month later, I keep thinking back to this book. That means it's in my heart. I really like it.

I would give this book 4 stars for some good storytelling about an interesting topic but he throws some disturbing racial/ethnic slurs and stereotypes about migrants and Arab people in there with no sense of awareness or reflection on his use of language. It was especially surprising to encounter given his sensitivity to culture and perspective in his other writing.
